The Alchemy Guide: Ideas & Proposals
Ideas & Proposals Overview

In this section people offer up their own views on the changes that would make alchemy an even more enjoyable profession. If you are serious about discussing any of these --or other-- changes, it is important that you first share and revise your ideas with others. Before submitting your proposal here, take the time to post it on The Alchemy Forum, and get some feedback.


Implimented Ideas: here are some ideas from the guide that have actually made it into the game. I'm sure you'll recognise them, even if the actual form they take in the game is a bit different.
  • Removing Overhead Skill Spam - Sie Ming (8/3/99)
    It's about time the developement team makes good on their statements about removing this most annoying aspect of certain skills.
  • Unique Potion Stacking Solution - Khelby (03/08/99)
    Stacking? We don't need no stinkin' stacking! Just implement this instead (it's alot more fun anyway)

Unified Proposals: these articles are generally larger, both in size and in scope. They cover many aspects of the lives of assassins and alchemists.

  • Alchemy Proposal III(v0.8) - Many contributors (09/20/99)
    Just some ideas that we are tossing around now (this one has grown to 23 pages in length; read it when your server is down). The two proposals below are previous versions of this proposal. They have significant differences, and are not simply refinements, and so they are included also.
  • Alchemy Proposal II(v1.11) - Many contributors
    A new (well, and updated) collection of proposals that have been ironed out on some of the boards.
  • Alchemy Proposal I(v6.4) - Many contributors
    A collection of proposals that have been ironed out on some of the boards.

Alchemist Ideas: these articles take a look at things that could be changed that primarily effect alchemists.

  • Taste Identification - Sie Ming
    Changes that would allow this skill to stand on it's own again. Contains alchemy and non-alchemy change.
  • Identifying Potions- Sie Ming
    Does the automatic identification of potions add to UO? This proposal suggests that it does not.
  • Alchemic Magic Items- Sie Ming
    Some possible additions to the magic items of Britannia with a definite alchemic slant.
  • Rethinking the Heal Potions - The Alchemy Forum (08/03/99)
    A balanced approach to changing the healing potions that would benifit alchemists of all skill levels.

Assassin Ideas: these articles take a look at things that could be changed that primarily effect assassins.

  • Poison Proposal - Malik (11/03/99)
    Some ideas on improving the assassin profession.
  • Assassin's Guild Proposal - Whisper (05/10/00)
    Make it more fun to be an assassin by having a structured system of finding contracts and placing hits on undesirable people.
