"Free me of only half this affliction and I shall be a complete man. You must think of me as being as happy as it is possible to be on this earth-not unhappy. No! I cannot endure it. I will seize fate by the throat. It will not wholly conquer me! Oh, how beautiful it is to live and live a thousand times over." -Beethoven

Fireforge Levi Strauss, Flints brother, was in Occlo today buying reagents for his sister Trillium to make into all kinds of noxious potions and whatnot. Approaching the bank who was he to spy but, FLINT FIREFORGE. Well, Levi could not believe his eyes and rushed home with a *poof* of smoke to tell his brother the tale. - pauses to relay a little background - Seems last week several pigeons arrived at our doorstep almost simultaneously. Seems that a notorious group of thugs had put a Kill-On-Sight out on Flint FireForge. A flurry of activity ensued. Come to find out it was an entirely different Flint that had attracted their attention, this Flint spelled his name in all capital letters. They assured Flint that he would not be harmed as they could tell the difference. - the story resumes - For some odd reason Flint grabbed up his newest creation, Kings Armor, stuffed it into his pack and went off to meet this notorious imposter. Upon arriving in Occlo Flint entered the bank and spied his namesake standing in a corner. "Good day" he enjoined, always being polite to a fault. "Good day" the other answered and then a chuckle. "So we meet at last, I have been looking forward to this moment for many months" said his double. Now Flint was very, very confused at this point. He'd been expecting confrontation, conflict even but it was not forthcoming. This other FLINT was a very likable fellow. They talked and talked, Flint presented his new friend with the gift of the Kings Armor he carried and FLINT asked him if he could repair some magical weapons for him. Of course Flint agreed. Off to the smithy they went chatting merrily. Flint was much impressed, silver weapons, weapons of power and vanquishing, lie within the bag. Carefully he applied his knowledge of arms lore to each weapon to determine if it needed repair. All this time the two were swapping stories of their lives and were fast becoming friends till the most horrific thing happened. It seems Flint has acquired this magical power over vendors sold to him by Tug that acted as a Agent making selling off scrap armor and weapons easy and fast. During his story telling Flint was heard to say the word "Sell". Instantly the blacksmith said "Here is 268 gold for your items" and 4 of the magical swords disappeared from Flint's pack. Flint was in an absolute panic, quickly he pulled FLINT aside and told him what had happened. He would make good he said, he would pay or search or do whatever was needed to make it right again. Then an idea dawned. He rushed back to the blacksmith and asked to buy back the weapons he had accidentally sold. The blacksmith agreed asking for a suitable mark up of course. So Flint happily paid the 349 gold the blacksmith asked for the items (which included a Broadsword of Vanquishing I may add) repaired them and returned them to his new friend. They laughed and laughed, they traded pigeons so they may converse and they arranged several deals satisfactory to both. And they lived happily ever after, if somewhat abashed. -Minuette, Bard with a Grin Other Flint Fireforge Stories: Where Has All the Joy Gone? |
