"Free me of only half this affliction and I shall be a complete man. You must think of me as being as happy as it is possible to be on this earth-not unhappy. No! I cannot endure it. I will seize fate by the throat. It will not wholly conquer me! Oh, how beautiful it is to live and live a thousand times over." -Beethoven

Minuette Wanders

Wanders the land searching…for a place to build a home. Her family had taken to trading homes for new materials to those who could not find a place to live. She began her search north of the town of Yew an area that was a favorite of her brother Levi's for hunting hides. She feels rather numb.

Distracted, still fighting her internal emotional war she stumbled into a hideous corpser. Could this be a sign she wondered, am I to engage this beast and remove its foulness from the land? She brings forth her kryss and shield and attacks the thing and quickly realizes she is far overmatched. Her blood begins to boil.

Hastily she applies bandages while still fighting unwilling to break off the engagement. Reckless, yes, that is what she feels. The total abandonment of common sense that comes when soul, heart and mind are in conflict. Her fingers slip, she nears death.

At the last moment she applies the bandages and saves herself from death. She notices a grizzly bear entering the area and wonders if she could be persuaded to help. She begins to sing "Mother will you help me defeat this foul beast", the bear pauses, listening. At that moment the corpser hit her with a mighty blow, she staggers wounded grievously. Mother bear rushes to her aid distracting the beast so she may heal herself anew. She is in great pain.

She crawls to the side and once again applies her healing skill. Watching mother bear fight the monster she begins to wonder. She sees her skills, old and new, coming together into something greater than the skills individually. Maybe, she ponders, learning to fight was not so bad an idea after all. Perhaps she was not betraying her life as a bard after all. Hope kindles anew.

Rejoining the battle her spirit soars.
