Dlome

The Scam

'Twas a sunny day in Trinsic. I sat upon a log at the west gate and looked to the sky… Half past noon I thought to myself. It had been a long dull day so far, but the weather was nice - which does not say much, for the weather always seems to be nice in fair Trinsic. As I watched the people pass by and discuss the recent events and their concerns, a thought came upon me. I needed to make money without making my reputation any worse, unfortunately this eliminated my usual methods of thievery. I walked into town and found my friends Shiela and Dom standing by the bank.

"Hail Shiela! Hail Dom!" I called.

"Good day" they replied.

"I have a proposal to make, can we meet in a quiet place?"

"Of course" replied Shiela.

We walked to a nearby home that is usually quiet despite the bustle outside the bank. We stepped into a quiet room and sat down.

"I have a plan to make some money, and I require your assistance. I have thought of a scam that should get us quite a bit of money and with your help we can make it totally convincing. Here is what you need to know: Shiela, you are a Grand Master smith and my contact to a network of ore miners. You and I run a company called 'The Trinsic armour and weapon trade.' We are 2000 gold away from buying a large blacksmith shop. Dom, you are a Grand Master warrior. You are my contact to a network of other warriors who are willing to sell the magical items they find. When I mention you, I want you to tell me that you have a load of new magical armour that I have not seen yet. Do you guys understand the idea?"

"Methinks I do!" replied Shiela

"Yep" replied Dom

I headed for the armour shoppe shouting "I need a good smith" the whole way. Shortly, we found the building and walked in. As usual, the forge was crowded, people were shouting everywhere, and it was virtually impossible to get anything done.

"I need a good smith!" I yelled.

"I need a good smith!"

Someone shouted, "Excalibur Bane is a good smith"

"Excalibur, can I speak to you a moment away from this confusion?" I asked

"Yes sir, you can"

We stepped outside where I introduced him to Shiela and Dom. They both showed their deepest respect and bowed to him.

"Sir, I have a business proposition to make: Shiela and I are smiths here in Trinsic. Currently we run a small weapon and armour business called the 'Trinsic armour and weapon trade' that sells all types of armour, magic and normal. We make our own supplies and Dom supplies us with magical armour that his other fighter friends find. We have made quite a bit of money, but we are just 2000 short of a large blacksmiths shop; would you like to donate 2000 gold and join us? If you do, you will earn 1/3 of all profits each night you help out - we usually make about 15,000 gold each night. Are you interested sir?"

"Yes, I am interested, but where do you get your ore? Do you know any miners?"

"Shiela here knows a whole network of miners that give us all the ore we need. In return we give them any armour they need when they come by… They are happy to help us," I said.

Too add to our act, Dom interjected "Dlome! I forgot to tell you that I have a new load of magical items for you! We found a lot of new magical armour!"

"Great!" I saw Excalibur's features soften. It seems he liked the idea of a shoppe.

Quickly, I turned to Excalibur "How good are you at smithing?"

"I am known as a Grand Master sir" He replied

"Excellent! Oh, this is much better than I had hoped, for I did not expect to find more than an adept! Splendid!" I said with more than obvious enthusiasm.

"So, are you interested Excalibur?" Shiela asked

"Yes I am"

"Good, we must go to the bank fast or the large blacksmiths shoppe will be gone." I replied

Just as we were leaving, a man came up to us. He had the look of a mage, but I could also see plate armor through his collar.

"I can also give you 2,000 if you need it," He said in a strangely nervous tone.

"Oh sir, that would be most helpful! I will put this too good use." I said as he handed me 2000 gold.

I was supremely happy, for I did not expect this to be so easy. I began to think of ways to get more money from him… When we got to the bank, Excalibur gave me the 2000 gold.

"I must go to Yew quickly sir, just a moment"

I then ran into the bank and hid. I deposited my 4000 gold and wasted a few minutes sorting the possessions in my bank account. I watched him closely -- his features were strong and he was clad in full plate. I could tell he was not one I should deal with outside of town. Shortly, he grew impatient, so I ran out.

"Ahh! Sir, we are 1,000 gold short and the blacksmiths shop is still for sale! Quick, can you lend me another 1000 gold?"

"Yes… I trust that I will get this back?"

"Yes you will sir, we make a lot of money!"

He handed me 1,000 gold. I went to the bank and made my deposit. That was it for me, I only saw him once more. When I did, I promptly left the area. It will surely be interesting if Isee him outside of town one day.
