First Come...
I was travelling through the swamps near
Trinsic searching for my first "customer". There he
was, a green robed individual wearing a black cape and orc helm.
Eager to see how good I've become, I walked up to him to make a
pass-by snoop into his backpack. I noticed 3 or 4 different
reagents in his first level pack. Since I make a few potions here
and there, I decided that having some of these reagents may be
profitable, so I checked on the quantities of each. The final
count was 15 mandrake,
20 ginseng, 13 garlic, and 10 black pearls. Not an extremely
large amount, but worth at least 500gp. But... which one to take?
I walked up to the robed figure and decided to try my luck.
"Greetings sir, do you have any reagents you could
spare?"
"Sorry no. I'm a fighter and I don't carry reagents."
Obviously he took me for an idiot, thinking that a rogue wouldn't
take the opportunity to peek into an Adept Swordsman's backpack.
Quickly after saying that, I kept hearing backpack/bag noises and
noticed that the reagents started disappearing. He only had one
bag in his inventory, empty before he put the reagents in because
he took it off the corpse of a dead lizardman that was at his
feet. Knowing that I had a small chance, I decided that it was
now or never. I made a grab for the bag.... You fail to steal the
item.
"What are you doing?" the Swordsman said.
Failed again.
"Hey, stop that."
Success! I quickly closed all windows and was about to start
running. He put himself into war mode and started attacking me. I
quickly ran north and just before leaving his screen, I decided
to make a comment on how long it took for him to decide to attack
me.
"Better late than never." I yelled shortly before
vanishing from his screen, and returning to Trinsic.
