Seeds of Rebellion | |

Ursula watched as the thief master paced next to the table in a small room deep below the city of Britain. Last she was here, they had planned a bold move of sabotaging the alliance of Lord Casca and Gideon. However, that had failed miserably and now Lord Casca was stronger than ever. As she watched the thief master, she could almost see the schemes being hatched in his mind. There were many questions that needed to be answered… events to be discussed.. but she did not dare to speak first… Thief master: *halts and turns towards Ursula* As we suspected, Lord Casca is behind the mercenary attacks. Ursula: *thumps her hand on the table* This is unacceptable! Hiring of mercenaries to do his dirty work is unbecoming for the person meant to replace Lord British. Thief master: *nods* Our worst fears are coming to life. Ursula: *scans through the scroll in front of her* Kingdom of Dawn, City of Avalon, Heaven’s Forge,… those names fit with your theory, master thief. But, Dark Tower, Cartel, and that snob of a baron? Thief master: *shrugs* Perhaps, the lord has gone stark mad. Perhaps, they are all pieces of a greater plan that we have not unraveled yet or maybe, it is all meant to be a distraction. Ursula: You provide few answers today, thief master. Tell me, have your spies not discovered anything? Thief master: *looks grim* This war is slowly bleeding its targets. Sure, they have defended their territory well but rumors circulate of bigger attacks planned against the rebels. Ursula: *leans forward* Thief master: If my sources are true, then this very night there will be two major attacks launched; one in Trammel and another in Felucca. An attack that might very well overwhelm any resistance the rebels can muster. Ursula: *looks gravely* Is there anything we can do to help? Thief master: *smiles slightly* There is little that can be done to help the rebels at this stage. They will… have to learn to band together and seek aid… or be stripped of their holdings. But, if this is to end well, we will have to play our part as well. Ursula: What do you suggest? Thief master: We need to weaken Casca’s grip on power by fermenting rebellion at a larger scale. And this cannot happen without providing an alternative to the throne. This is what I propose. First, we must…

Dawn And Avalon Invaded By Mercenaries. The Knights Of The Blue Rose React.
| Posted on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, 10:29 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja) |
Greetings, Britannians.
As no doubt many of you have already heard, The Kingdom of Dawn and its protectorate, The Village of Avalon, were recently struck by a series of suprise attacks and lootings in what appears to be an organized guerilla invasion by rogue Chaos Dragons.
Dawn, which has historically been a close friend and ally of the Kingdom of Britannia, was recently involved in a long dispute over the realms sovereignty and right to rule. Lord Casca felt that Dawn and Avalon's long-standing claim to independence was invalidated by his ascension to the throne. The Britannian King prompty demanded that the Duchess-Regent of Dawn and the Royal Court concede his authority and surrender themselves to his rule.
In Casca's own words, he wished to be the Great Uniter of the Five Worlds. An argument that he presented was that the Citizens of Dawn could not be properly defended by stubborness alone, but with the aid and authority of the Britannian Crown. When Dawn defied these claims, his calls for peace and protecting the citizenry were quickly forgotten when he staked his banner into the ground and proclaimed that he was bringing the sword to Dawn.
The Dragoon's struck swiftly. Obviously, they knew the history and ways of the Kingdom of Dawn, for they patiently for its knights and soliders to leave on an expedition to Tokuno to covertly aid the Britannian Royal Guard before striking at the heart of the Kingdom.
As the reports come in, one cannot help but be shocked and horrified by the sheer brutality of these mercenaries. They attack warrior and peasant alike with reckless abandon, and have massacred the local gypsy population in droves. A series of attacks has been made on the Royal Palace itself, which appears to be an attempt by the Dragoons to capture or kill the Prince and the Duchess-Regent of the Kingdom.
All is not lost though. The Knights of the Blue Rose and the Order of the Crimson Staff have recently returned from their expedition, along with mercenaries and knights of their own to help the belegured statehood.
I went to investigate, and discovered a vast armada docked along the shores of the Duskwood between Dawn and Avalon.
A total of ten ships were docked, while several more seemed to be bringing supplies into the fortified pass between Dawn and Avalon. Another few ships, including several merchant freighters, arrived to carry refugees from the two cities to an unknown location.
The Ships were as follows: - DWN Cerulean Skies - DWN Blue Roses - DWN Hilde Garde - DWN Vixen's Luck - DWN Persephone the Beautiful - DWN Na'Kruls Bane - DWN Dragonheart's Lance - DWN Highwind - DWN Green Goblin - DWN Invincible
I proceeded west, hoping to stay away from the bulk of the fighting and perhaps find refuge. It was there that I discovered the Castle of the Blue Rose, a fortified tower that had been reconstructed by the Avalonians and the Dawnites specifically for the defense of both realms.
On the steps, I discovered a Knight of the Blue Rose and a Avalonian Militiamen facing the southern road.
I proceeded inside, to find none other than Sir Zackarias of the Knights of the Blue Rose speaking with a blacksmith. After making sure that I was no threat, he opened up to talking to the Britannian Press.
Jacob Vampa: Are these mercenaries the work of Lord Casca.?
Zackarias: Who else could it be?
Jacob Vampa: Why do you think mercenaries would be sent, rather than the Britannian Army?
Zackarias: The Royal Britannian Guard and the Knights of the Blue Rose have fought together. We've bled together. We've died together. It would be a fatal mistake trying to set us against each other.
Jacob Vampa: Why do you think these mercenaries would invade in such a manner?
Zackarias: It is as Father Nicholas foretold. Lord Casca wishes to make an example out of us. If he were to crush the Kingdom of Dawn, who would dare oppose him? Luna? Zento? We must not fall, not only for ourselves but for all the Free Peoples of Sosaria.
Jacob Vampa: What is your personal reaction to this invasion?
Zackarias: My reaction? Well now... While sitting in at some of Casca's speeches, I always seemed to have a weird feeling about him, especially when he just came in and took command of Blackthorne Castle unannounced. And in one his speeches, I sensed that through his words, he, Casca, would try to pull something from his pocket to enslave the free cities, even if it was wrong. As for the invasion, I had no doubt in my mind that something like this would happen, it was all a matter of time. And with my skilled hand at fighting these, demons, I feel that we will need all the free cities to join in togather and fight side by side to fight back the hordes of Casca. And for Casca hiring demons to do his dirty work, and for the demons aiming their weapons at my appointed Duchess, the fool has something coming to him.
Zackarias took me north, and showed me several of the half-completed fortifications built to protect Dawn and Avalon. Although the Black Gate had somewhat nullified these defenses, the hope is that the gate can be dispelled, which would force any invader to pass through the Castle of the Blue Rose or the Avalonian Wall.
The Dragon's Breath Guard Tower, which overlooks the Hordelands and the site of the Black Gate, seemed to be fortified to the max. I found the tower empty, but if the battle cries just over the trees were any indication, battle was engaged.

Britannian Imperialism Threatens Zenite Sovereignty
| Posted on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, 7:59 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja) |
Greetings, Britannians.
As I am sure most of you are already aware, just this last month our benevolent sovereign and monarch, Lord Casca of Heartwood, issued a decree mandating that all citizens of good health and able body proceed immediately to the Land of Feudal Lords to aid its Empress in the retrieval of her lost treasures and codices.
It is hereby declared by royal decree that the people of Britannia shall assist the Empire of Tokuno with the incursion of hostile beasts that once again have begun roaming their lands, stealing their wealth and spreading destruction.
The Treasures of Tokuno must be redeemed from these foul monsters by any means, be it blade or spell! Speak with Ihara Soko, the Imperial Minister of Trade in Zento, should you recover any lost artifacts of the Empire.
By the hand of your Sovereign and Lord, Casca While one would think that such a declaration, which on the surface appears to be little more than an offer of aid and goodwill to the Zentoese government, would be welcomed by one and all, such is not the case. One need only visit the City of Zento, enter its shops and sake houses, and speak with its citizens to discover the vast and widespread changes coming over the society as a result of Britannian Imperial Dominance.
When I first arrived in the City of Splendors, surrounded by the cherry blossom trees and being overwhelmed by the scents of steamed rice and shochu wafting through the early morning air, one of the first things that struck me odd was the Town Crier that greeted me at the gates.
As fate would have it, Leif the Town Crier is a Britannian from the woodlands surrounding Vesper. While I thought it was strange that a Britannian would be tending to the position in Tokuno, I assumed that perhaps the Empress was hiring a foreign worker to help communicate with the incoming Britannians? I truly thought little of it.
I would be even more surprised by what I found next.
I strode into the Fletchers Shop of Zento, a native greeting prepared on my lips, when I was met by another two Britannians dressed in the native regalia. Fergus and Beradine, a couple from the Tradeport of Valoria, identified themselves as the new proprietors of the shop. I thought this was strange, but it didn’t really hit me until I began to look through the various shops and tea houses dotting the small city. As it turns out, almost two thirds of the businessmen and women within the city were Britannian. I still saw many Zenites strolling through the streets, but an alarming number of them were carrying bowls and begging for charity.
So, what does a good reporter do? I began asking questions.
I eventually came upon the Zento Magick Shop, and discovered a native Zenite who appeared to be familiar with our tongue.
Joshua Harper: When did the Britannians begin taking over the businesses of the City of Zento?
Hotane: It began many years ago, although it was never this bad. Occasionally, an…oh whats the word? Enterprising! Britannian would come here to make his fortune, which never troubled us. But now it has gotten much worse.
Joshua: What do you mean?
Hotane: Your Casca and his court think they rule the world. They force their traders into our ports, and demand we carry Britannian goods. Just look around you. How many shopkeepers are Zenite? How many Zenites currently starve in the streets? He invades the realms of any who defy his authority, while sending his men to slowly encroach upon ours. How long before he declares Tokuno a vassal of your kingdom as well?
After several days of questioning Zenites and Britannians alike, I attempted to contact one of the magistrates of the city. Wouldn’t you know it, he was Britannian as well.
I tried to interview the man, but he demanded that he not be questioned, and quickly jumped in the fish pond.
When I turned to leave, I discovered an even more alarming sight. Alongside maps of Zento and the Tokuno Islands were replicas and plans for what appeared to be none other than Britannian-style Villas. What are they planning, I must wonder?
While the exchange of ideas and the sharing of culture along regional lines is a good and desirable thing, one cannot help but be gravely concerned for the Citizens of Zento in light of recent events. Will they maintain their sovereignty, or will they slowly be swallowed up by Casca’s growing appetite?
I’m sure we’ll soon find out.

Redcap Gang Openly Defies The King's Tax
| Posted on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, 9:34 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja) |
Hello, Britannians.
A couple nights past, The Town Guard of Britain issued a ticket to Mikie of the Redcap Gang for the illegal docking of his large dragon freighter within the moat of Castle Britannia. As you might imagine, the exchange became a rather heated affair.
Picture Taken By Cymidei Fier
Although I personally have no love of those crimson-scarved scoundrels and their strange mistress, and wouldn't shed a tear if their ships happen to catch flame, the heated exchange made it clear what changes we can expect with the ascension of Lord Gideon to Minister of Trade. As I'm sure many of you remember, once upon a time it was common practice for our realms most lucrative traders and merchants to dock their seacraft within the safety of the king's moat while they proceeded to hawk their wares to the crowds around Britain Bank.
Of course, that is to be no more. We Britannians can now expect a hefty tax just to dock our ships at port, and an even heftier fine to partake in the so-called free trade that we once enjoyed. Independent Merchants are having even more trouble attempting to perform trade in the Capitol City, which has already suffered extensively from the rise of the Independant Luna.
I attempted to question a member of the Britain Town Guard about the recent and unannounced change to the shipping laws.
She replied that it had been parked there for far too long and then strode off, leaving this reporter with more questions than answers.
As I was walking along the street on my way towards Britain Bank this evening, I noticed several ships now docked within the moat. A small fleet bearing crimson banners. I took the opportunity to view their names and speak with their crew, and discovered that the ships belonged to none other than the Redcap Gang.
It would appear that in defiance of the King and his new taxes, The Redcap Gang has brought even more ships to choke the waterway surrounding his Castle.
How with the Town Guard react? Or Casca for that matter? Stay tuned as we continue to watch this story develop.

Captain Nystad Sent to Zento - Report

Upon arrival to Mount Sho the citizens were attacked by monsters who truly understood the art of bringing pain as mass deaths occurred. There were also strange little fire rabbits hopping around but did not hold any special loot! Even with so many deaths in the area, and many, many tears from a certain thief....er...liberator of goods...There was apparently little to investigate?! *Note to self, must steal.....liberate Aino's boots...* After that Lady Aino gated us back to Zento and spoke a few words but during the middle of it I was summoned to help defend the free kingdoms!...? Apparently while helping Lady Aino's investigation the black gates poured out many mercenaries who tried to lay siege on the free kingdoms! Was this a trick that Lady Aino may have helped conspire with? Did someone else hire these mercs? Or did the king truly send these mercs to fight the free kingdoms? One day, I hope we have the answer to these questions. -------------------------------- Related links of interest: Strange Portals Appearing Servants and Fools Books from EM Event How do the black gates work?

| from goldenbrewtavern.com How do the black gates work? Tuesday, June 30, 2009 By EMSeppo I have been noticing a lot of misconceptions on the ground related to the functioning of the black gates. There have been quite a few theories being floated around creating a lot of confusion. No, jumping on one leg in front of the gate while holding your left ear will not make it spawn! Here is the truth of the matter, 1) The spawn at gates does not depend on how many people you have present to start up and for all purposes, it is random. The mercenaries may attack without any warning. Scouts have been seen roaming the lands in the middle of the night! Conversely, often you may find the gates completely quiet as well. However, the invasion will last for several days and hopefully, everyone will get a shot at it sooner or later. Do keep in mind that we are in initial stages of the invasion and as such, you will not run into a major attack that often. 2) There will also be times when you have advance knowledge of an invasion due to information collected from the books that a mercenary may drop. Keep an eye out for such information by communicating with others in game or through the various shard forums. There is a nice thread on Baja Stratics which attempts to collect this very information. (Fiction based explanation) The mercenaries are unable to do a full-fledged attack due to the limitations of the black gate system. So, they are relying on surprise attacks at seemingly random times to overwhelm their targets while they work on bypassing the limitations. | *Reporter's note: The following story was written "In Character" so please remember that even though you are reading this on Stratics, your character In Game will NOT know this information. The cold night had released a chill wind into the castle. The light of the nearby torch had begun to fade. Many of the servants had already retired hours prior. Still, Casca sat still in his study, his mind consuming him. This was nothing new though. Many sleepless nights he had endured since his ascension to the throne, and this hardly seemed unlike any other. Yet behind Casca’s eyes unblinking, his thoughts raced on. The different facets of his thoughts wrestling with each other, fighting over possible outcomes, future decisions, past failures, former masters, current ones, the misunderstood desires of his heart and the wishes of his forcibly corrupted soul. More so , Casca felt the full weight of his dark masters and their power upon his shoulders. It was now that he felt the final vestiges of his former, uncorrupted self cease its long struggle and slip away into the nether that awaited him. So mired in contemplation was he that even seemingly staring straight ahead at the door, Casca did not see the figure enter the poorly lit room. It was a familiar voice that finally shook him back into himself. “You called for me, my Lord?” Blinking several times, regaining himself, Casca focused his eyes, seeing his Lord Emissary, Trubo Saius, standing before him. “Yes, Lord Emissary, please sit”, said Casca, clearing his throat and motioning towards the seat on the other side of the small table. And there, in that moment of transfer and silence, while Trubo drew up the chair, Casca put his sight to the pale shining jewel that adorned the neck of his most trusted servant, feeling a rush of recycled thoughts reenter his mind. “To think such a small thing could restrain so great an evil”, thought Casca, as he had many times before. But it was not perfect by far, it is true. The magic could falter at times of great stress or through the sheer willpower of this dispossessed monster, but it was enough. “But a power so grand and a soul so consumed can never be directly controlled or possessed, only kept in check…To the benefit of others.” Casca smiled, sitting up to face Trubo. “You have done as I ordered?” asked Casca. “I have, great King. The warnings have been sent and preparations have begun as according to your directions.” Casca sensed doubt in Trubo’s voice. “You have more to say, Lord Emissary?” Trubo adjusted himself, keeping his head bowed as he spoke. “My Lord, your recent meeting with Lady Nystad has come to my attention. She says we are not go to war. She says you will not commit the Army. And I am hardly anyone to question your plans sire, yet here we stand at the precipice of war and you turn back so suddenly? This –” Holding forward his palm and interrupting Trubo, Casca stood up slowly but said nothing at first. He turned and calmly walked over to the sole window in the room, his small, jeweled crown glinting slightly in the weak moonlight as he gazed into the moat below. “The Captain is correct, Lord Emissary. The War of Shadows taxed us all to our unbreakable limits. Both the people and myself are loathe to force our soldiers to do battle again so soon, much less against our own people”, said Casca. Trubo stood up swiftly, his chair scraping against the stone floor, placing his palms on the table. Trubo’s necklace gem grew brighter as the magic strained. “But my liege! Better that we considered this before resorting to open war! If we hesitate now, if we show any weakness, those foul vultures will consume our fair kingdom! You offered them peace, stability, and freedom under your benevolent rule! Rife with their ill begotten pride they haughtily chose the sword, as I predicted!” Casca could feel the anger in Trubo’s voice but felt his Lord Emissary quickly regain himself and the magic reassert control. “A thousand apologies, great King. There is still the side of me that questions your plans and doubts your wisdom, but it is silent now, and soon it shall forever be,” Trubo said in a lower voice as he placed himself next to the King, kneeling in subservience. Turning his eyes to Trubo, Casca smiled once again, his thoughts no longer at war with one another. A red gleam came to his eyes. “The Army will not commit to the war, Lord Emissary. But the treasury will.” Event Announcement Event Location: The Black Gates at the rebel locations When: Throughout the coming weeks Notes: 1) There will be a rune book locked down with the locations to the black gates at West Britain Bank roof 2) If any of the rebel kingdoms want to opt out of it then you simply need to surrender 3) There might be clues on the invading forces from time to time! Negotiating For A King’s Grace Or Imperial Hegemony? By Joshua Harper, Baja Stratics Reporter Sunday June 21st, 2009
“From this day onwards, I declare that all kingdom-states that have propped up within the boundaries of Britannia will dissolve. The leaders of these kingdoms will declare fealty to the throne. Let it Dawn upon you that rebellion will not be tolerated.” - King Casca of Britannia, Ascension Speech. January 17th
Greetings, Britannians.
As I’m sure many of you have already been made aware, last evening saw the gathered representatives of no less than four sovereign nations and six autonomous colonies come together to assert their right to independence and self-determination before the High Court of Pax Britannia.
I must admit that despite the clever but arguably presumptuous game of smoke and mirrors performed by the Lord Emissary of Britannia, the negotiations were truly a sight to behold; for they were the culmination of more than six months of private confrontations and very public saber-rattling between our government and that of our economic and military rivals throughout the Five Worlds. Alas, not since the Second War of Darkness have so many of Sosaria’s governors and monarchs gathered together in one place united in a common cause; although this time it would not be the Queen of Darkness and her Undead General whom these free and self-reliant states would be faced with. No, this was an evening that for better or for worse, shall in all likelihood determine the future of our realm for many long and arduous years to come.
Of course our story does not begin with last evening’s negotiations, but with the ascension of Lord Casca of Heartwood to the Throne of Our Lost King more than six months anon.
In a widely unpopular move that has left even the most ardent loyalist factions with serious and very troubling questions, our new king’s first act as sitting monarch was not to declare war upon the draconian-led armies that continued to ravage our war-town cities, nor was it to order a long overdue investigation into the malady that plagued thousands of our helpless citizens. No, Casca’s first act as King was to demand that all independent kingdoms and self-governing statehoods immediately dissolve and swear fealty to the Kingdom of Britannia and its Reigning Monarch.
The infamous proclamation speech continued to be held as a source of contention and controversy for the new monarch for months to come, and it would not end there. When confronted by the Grand Duchess and Acting Regent of the Kingdom of Dawn about his right to demand their loyalty and subservience, Lord Casca flew into a fit of rage and proclaimed that the blood of the Dawnites will be upon her hands for her failure to submit to his rule; and no amount of back-peddling or sweet talk by his emissaries could erase that from the mind of those in attendance.
It was a troubling time for the Britannians and their neighbors. It led the Kingdom of Dawn, a nation that has historically aided the Britannian Kingdom in times of both war and famine, to begin fortifying their southern passes and formally cut economic ties to their once close friend and ally. It saw Heaven’s Forge, governed by Lady Oriana (who continues to wear the Sash of a Royal Britannian Guard proudly to this day), formally announce her town’s secession from our nation in disgust. It was even rumored to have forced ancient enemies and historic rivals to begin negotiating treaties of mutual aid in the event of an invasion by the Britannian Legions, in an event known as the Mage Tower Summit. Of course, the story behind these rumors has yet to be independently verified and therefore will not be further discussed at this time.
The Crown has since made some feeble attempts to pacify the leaders of these shocked and enraged statehoods by offering to hear their claims of independence in an open court and determine if such claims have any merit based on historical precedent; or as was so keenly proven last evening, to determine what states would be most politically advantageous to Britannian Monarchy. Nevertheless, The Crown failed to host such a summit or to receive the ambassadors of any independent state or colony for almost five months following this formal announcement.
That would all change a fortnight ago, when Lord Emissary Saius of the Kingdom of Britannia announced that the trial would be held shortly and that all independent states must submit their ambassadors if they wished to challenge Lord Casca’s Right to Govern.
On Saturday Afternoon, the representatives of several nations and colonies gathered in the farming community of West Britanny for the Independent Kingdom’s Summit. In attendance was Grand Duchess WildStar the Benevolent, representing the Kingdom of Dawn and the Village of Avalon; Emissariat Lucic of the Ordo Malleus Maleficarum of Luna, representing Balsall Monastery and the Village of Ravenshire; Super Ken of the Cartel Faction, representing Horseshoe Island; Governess Oriana of the Almost Famous Knights, representing the Town of Heaven’s Forge; Heiress-Presumptive Magdalena of Queen Shieba’s Alliance, representing the Queendom Stronghold and its holdings within the Samlethe; Dark Lady Cymidei Fier of House Fier, to represent the Dark Tower, the Village of New Scythe, and the City of Wind; and Baron Sleath Von Darkmor of the Dark Tower, representing the Barony of Darkmor on the shores of Locke Lake. Anya, a well-respected member of the Gypsy Clan’s of Sosaria was also in attendance, but the High Court refused to hear their claims for independence.
Lord Emissary Saius arrived shortly afterwards, and proclaimed that he had been given the authority to determine the ultimate standing of each independent state and colony in respect to the Kingdom of Britannia.
It was a clever and presumptuous ruse, for if anyone spoke out in defiance of his claim could be painted as a troublemaker who sought nothing more than to stir up the sparks of war; while remaining quiet would concede his right to judge. As expected, Lord Casca was no where to be found. The summit proceeded as scheduled, with minimal interruptions until the very end of the trial, when the spectators began to riot within the tent.
An underlying but little spoken theme that would prevail throughout the minds of many of the gathered representatives and their audience was not merely the question of independence and self-determination for the various political and economic entities in question – whether or not they had even been a part of Lord British’s Realm – but the question of Britannian Hegemony itself. One might wonder, what right does the Britannian Crown have to assert itself over the various political entities throughout the Five Worlds? Does technological and military superiority give the Britannian Kingdom a viable mandate to pursue what has become an increasingly expansionistic and imperial policy in regards to its neighboring states.
As many of you have recently heard, Lord Casca has ordered that thousands of our soldiers and knights be deployed to the Empire of Zento in what is said to be an attempt to aid the overtaxed feudal shogunate. Britannian treasure hunters and thrill-seekers had already begun making preparations to venture to the realm, so why is Lord Casca sending so many of our warriors as well? Of course, one must really wonder, when you look about the streets and see Britannian faces upon the shopkeepers while the native Tokunonans are forced to wander the streets and back alleys behind Zento. Casca also seems to have designs on Malas, which has been independent since long before the Rise of Mondain.
Will nothing satiate his lust for land and power?
Below, I shall describe the nature of each kingdom and the verdict passed by Lord Emissary Saius of the Kingdom of Britannia. I caution that despite his verdict, many of these kingdoms have not changed their stance regarding their individual claims of independence.

Standard Recruit Test Results
| Posted on Monday, June 22, 2009, 6:44 PM EDT by Ceno of MT (Baja) |
taken from: The Golden Brew Tavern Hail, the first S.R.T. was held this past Sunday afternoon. During the test, the recruits were led by corporal Brackus. It was a great success and all the recruits participating were able to pass it with flying colors. The first part of the test saw the recruits undergoing a parade test, where they were also tested on their knowledge of tactical commands/orders. The second part of the test required the recruits to overcome some bizarre challenges in the form of some exotic creatures. At this, we met the beastmaster of the necromancer arena who was awaiting the town guards, in her words “Fresh meat (for her beasts)”. At the end of it, I promoted all of the participating recruits to the position of Town guards. As you might have known, they have already been fulfilling their duties valiantly. I look forward to more recruits taking the S.R.T. in the future. If you or anyone else were to be interested in joining the town guards, please contact corporal Brackus or one of the town guards to find out more information. With strength and honor, Captain Nystad Names of recruits who were promoted: 1) Sphinx 2) Ric Flair 3) Highlander 4) Euterpe 5) Yalp 6) Urlik Fangborne Notes: 1) A big shout out to EM Eira of Sonoma for playing the beastmaster at the Necromancer’s Arena. 2) The screenshots of the day have been uploaded in this album. | from goldenbrewtavern.com Standard Recruit Test Friday, June 19, 2009 By EMSeppo Hail Citizens, I am proud to announce that the first batch of town guards will be attempting their Standard Recruit Test (S.R.T.) this coming Sunday (June 21st). The town guards have come a long way since their very humble beginnings and this will mark a watershed event in the regiment's history thus far. The S.R.T., although scaled back in its complexity, is designed to test how well a recruit is able to work within a unit. Do not fret if you are unable to attend or pass as there will be more dates in the future. Be sure to attend to support the town guards! If you are interested in joining the town guards, please talk with Brackus or any of the recruits. They can be identified with their distinct uniforms. Schedule of the day 1) Parade skill test (3:00 PST to 3:30 PST) 2) Unit combat test (3:40 PST to 4:15 PST) A town guard recruit that has been qualified to take their S.R.T. is welcome to join either of the two tests, if they are not able to attend both. The corporal is planning to hold a practice drill before the S.R.T. – if you are a qualified recruit planning to take the then then you should look into attending this. We will meet in front of the town guard headquarters. If you come late keep an eye out for a gate or marked rune. *salutes* Captain Nystad Related articles: 1) A guide to town guard rank structure 2) Town guard headquarters 3) Town guard orders

From the Golden Brew Tavern
Three on Thursday? Thursday, June 18, 2009 By EMSeppo
1) A book has been placed next to thief master. It will respond to names of players who have a notoriety of +1 or more. The names are in one of these two formats:
a) Player name; eg. Aino Nystad or
b) Player Name (Guild Abbreviation); eg. Aino Nystad (GRD)
If you had submitted a report for the Thiefmaster event and your name is not included, please let me know
2) Me and Pallando recently did an interview with the Baja Stratics’ staff and it can be found at this link
3) If you registered as a representative for the upcoming negotiations for independence, then please sign up for one of the negotiation slots. Also, some of the claims have been disputed. Please try to work it out with the disputer because we are not going to allow negotiations on land with reasonable disputes as your decisions are likely to have consequences.
Regarding the actual negotiations part, you can take whatever approach you think will earn you a royal nod. Something to remember is that Lord Casca is not going to give up territory unless you can convince him that it is in his best interest to do so.
Also please keep in mind that the negotiation slots are approximations. Things can always run bit slower or faster.
Regards,
Seppo |

Negotiating for a King's Grace: Event Announcement, Schedule, Rules
| Posted on Thursday, June 18, 2009, 5:20 AM EDT by Sara of Baja (Baja) |
| from goldenbrewtavern.com Negotiating for a king’s grace Tuesday, June 16, 2009 By EMSeppo Justice without force is powerless; force without justice is tyrannical. Emilio, the farmer, stood dumbfounded as he watched the king’s men setting up a massive tent. What was a flat green pasture, a source of his livelihood, had been turned into a circus despite his protests. It all began at crack of dawn, without as much as an inkling of a warning. Emilio was about to begin his day when his ears picked up the tell-tale noises of an approaching caravan. He found this to be odd as no one ever came this west of Britain except for those pesky pumpkin thieves during Halloween season. Confused and alarmed, he picked up his pitchfork and went down the road to investigate. Only few paces led him to a caravan being accompanied by men dressed in the garb of Royal Guards. *slightly taken back by the presence of guards in his neck of the woods* Emilio: Hail frhiends, have you losth yourh way? The cithy is in the opposithe dirhection! Lane: *makes a dismissive gesture* We are not lost, peasant! This is royal business. Do not attempt to interfere, lest you would like to feel the butt of my halberd. Emilio: *smiles nervously* King’s business, eh? Has Lord Brhitish rheturned then? Lane: *holds Emilio by the collar of his tattered shirt* Lord Casca, the new king, is to hold important negotiations here. We are to erect a tent at that farmland over there *points in the direction of Emilio’s farm* Emilio: *looking confused* Merhcy, I meanth no offense. Emilio: *realizes that the guard pointed towards his farm*Buth.. you musth noth build on thath land, Sirhe! Thath be my fahrm… I need the land rheady for sowing! Lane: *looks towards the other guards* This peasant wants us to not build the tent on his farm because he needs to plant seeds. Should we pack up and go tell Lord Casca that we cannot build his tent? *chuckles along with the other guards* Emilio: Sirhe, pleas… *falls to his knees by a sudden blow to his gut* Lane: Silence! We are going to build this tent on your farm and we are going to use your grain to feed the men on your table. Got anything to say about it? Emilio: *bites his tongue* King is mosth welcome, Sirhe! ----------------------------------------------------------------- All representatives are asked to read the rules and sign up for negotiation slots Related articles: List of registered representatives Call for representatives ----------------------------------------------------------------- Negotiating for a king’s grace – Schedule/Rules Tuesday, June 16, 2009 By EMSeppo Event announcement: Negotiating for a king’s grace Location: Felucca Time: Saturday, June 20th, 3:30 PST to 6:30 PST Schedule of day: 3:30 PST: Arrival and introductions 3:40 PST: Negotiation Slot 1 4:00 PST: Negotiation Slot 2 4:20 PST: Negotiation Slot 3 4:40 PST Negotiation Slot 4 5:00 PST: Negotiation Slot 5 5:20 PST: Negotiation Slot 6 5:40 PST: Negotiation Slot 7 6:00 PST: Deliberation/Recess 6:10 PST: Judgment delivered: Lord Saius will grant or reject autonomy 6:30 PST: End Rules 1) All representatives must indicate at least 2 slots that would work for them, if not more, by commenting in the thread on goldenbrewtavern.com 2) All representatives must be present for the judgment delivery. Attention Archers! Best Shot In The Realm - May Recap and June Schedule | |
| Posted on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 12:52 PM EDT by Sara of Baja (Baja) |
| May's Best Shot In The Realm was held on a late May Saturday night. A gathering of archers not before seen had showed up to compete for the coveted Best Shot in the Realm crown. Toni Fierce, GM of Misfits of Society, gave her welcoming speech and the signups concluded with 28 archers anxiously awaiting the first round of shooting. Yourself was the first shooter, and everyone knew that this night would be different when he posted a 200 and a robin hood before the crowd had even settled into their seats. A 70 score is required with 3 shots in the 1st round to move onward ... after the first round ended, and to everyone's surprise, NOT a single archer failed to move to round 2. Toni Fierce, with an accumulation of gifts donated by guests and shooters to be given out , was unsure of what now to do when the 50k consolation prizes and a number of arrow commodity deeds were in her pack with no one to award them to. The second round started, and the buttes were not as kind as a number of archers including such renowned shooters as Frigin Azim, Kathryn, the early robin hood shooter Yourself, and others failed to move to round three. Round Three, with a perfect 3 bullseyes needed, found the field being reduced further to just six archers ready for the next round. chocalot, Lazarus, Maleki, Tsukiko, and Decimation showed they were getting ready when all posted a robin hood in Round 3. Round 4 is usually the deciding round, and the round where you have to be beyond perfect to win ... 3 bullseyes with a robin hood thrown in scores you a 200 and usually the crown. Parisa and Lazarus were perfect without the winning robin hood. Maleki posted the robin hood, and the crowd thought the event was over when his last shot went wide leaving him with a 160 score. Everyone was told not to leave as a shoot off was in the future. A 5-shot shoot off was announced by Toni Fierce ... the highest score would be awarded the crown. First up was chocalot who posted a robin hood and set the bar. Parisa was next, and an onlooker said 'Hey yur bow's coming apart!' But Parisa shot anyway and scored a 90. Tsukiko was called next to shoot, and then called again and again ... she was gone!! Many in the crowd wondered why she would have left at this moment when Theoran hollered over (Theoran is the guard at the small house) 'She'll be right back, she's busy!' Toni skipped her to move to the next shooter. Lazarus and Maleki both posted 210s; then decimation shot 5 bullseyes for a 250, when Tsukiko came running back asking, 'Am I too late?' Toni answered, 'No. Go and shoot now.' Well the shack visit must have helped as Tsukiko posted a robin hood and ended with a 300 score to snatch May's Crown and was awarded the million-gold check and a one-of-a-kind engraved bow. May's tournament was over. All the shooters were thanked as another winner of Misfits of Society's 2009 Best Shot in the Realm was crowned, and another seat in the year end Shoot-off of Champions was added. The next Best Shot in the Realm will be held on Friday, June 19th at 8:00PM Pacific (9:00PM Mountain, 10:00PM Central, 11:00PM Eastern) May Scoresheet Monthly Winners: February: Lady Kathryn [TAO] March: Arlon April: Zanza [S|A] May: Tsukiko [-CT-] | |
