Help Design a New Reward Hall!
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Saturday, August 6, 2011, 9:56 AM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Malas News <<<by Barnaby

As many of you have heard us comment recently, plans are in motion to do something special for past and future competition winners on Catskills. In fact, anyone who has visited our current Reward Hall recently may have seen a new plot has been placed. This plot is the future location of a new hall that will contain all the items recognizing the winners and champions of our shard, and we are asking for your help in designing it.

From now until the 25th of August we are accepting design submissions for this new hall (the original one will be reserved for recognizing the accomplishments of the people of Catskills as a group). Your submission should keep the following points in mind:

It should follow the basic design of our current Hall (in other words, it should use largely similar materials).

It should be able to accommodate a large collection without looking like a big warehouse.

Should be 18×18 in size.

Include any decorations you have in mind (or at least make a note of them and where they should go).

The winner will have a plaque/banner/sign placed on the front of the building recognizing their contribution to our shard. Please send a picture of your submission to [email protected] and [email protected] by the 25th.

Thank you, and good luck!

Treasure Hunt Challenge ~ Sunday, 7/31

Adventurers of Catskills!

Almost a year ago we ran a treasure hunting competition in order to find the team that would be best suited to represent us in a shard vs. shard challenge with Sonoma (to take place on Test Center). Unfortunately, nobody showed up!

Well, I think Sonoma has had the crown for too long now, and it should fall to use to challenge for, and ultimately win it. Here are the details:

- Teams will consist of 2-5 members. Try and get as close to 5 as possible!
- One member of your team must be a GM Treasure Hunter with GM
Cartography and GM Lockpicking. Mining is not required but would be good
to have.
- On the day of the competition you will need to have a book ready with your
roster on the first page. Your Treasure Hunter should be listed first.
- We are limited to TEN teams for the event. Should we have more we will
work with each team and ask that any smaller ones join together.
- Individuals may show up and be placed on "free agent" teams. GM Treasure hunters are ESPECIALLY welcome to sign up individually, for obvious reasons!
- Team names and colors will be assigned at the event.

The event is a "race" competition where each team will strive to complete one of each of the six levels of treasure maps before the other teams. The winning team will have earned the right to represent Catskills, assuming of course Sonoma answers our challenge.

Elaboration on the Current Story by EM Barnaby

As promised, a bit of clarity in regards to the current storyline involving the establishment of a new Royal Council.

Soon you may discover a number of the nobles who now comprise this Council in their respective cities, towns, and villages. I think you will find they will have a lot to say about each other, the idea of a new Council, as well as Britannia as a whole. Some of their remarks may be designed to give hints about what is to come, and some may simply give you insight into their character.

This should be considered part of an on-going event, where small events may occur that taken individually might seem insignificant, but when viewed as part of the larger picture may turn out to be very important. I realize this may sound vague, but I mean it to be. This event(s) is about telling a story, and doing it in a way that encourages the community to explore, and work together. In many ways it is a puzzle – a puzzle that has had many of it’s pieces revealed already, through events large and small during the last three months.

An announcement will be made when the Council members are “up”.

Sherry Talks of a Council Meeting
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Saturday, July 23, 2011, 9:32 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Trammel Facet News <<< Thursday night (21st of July 2011) many members of the shard showed up at the royal stables after hearing that Sherry the Mouse was going to tell Delilah, one of the Royal stable hands, about a meeting that took place at Castle Britain. Sherry was very upset that Delilah had not kept this quiet about this subject, but relented and shared the following information with all that gathered there.

You doubtlessly remember the meeting some time ago, a summit of Nobles from across the realm that took place here at the Castle. Many of you fine knights and mages I am sure were busy assisting the Commander in what turned out to be a very necessary mission to protect the town, and the visiting dignitaries. But while you were out there, I was here, watching, while unwatched, all that was happening. The crowd of interested citizens was enormous as nobles from across the land entered through the front gate. There were Guards stationed everywhere, as there was the lingering memory of the terrible massacre that occurred here once before not too long ago... There was much excitement in the air and into this the nobles walked.

They arrived mostly separately, and filed into the Castle towards a guarded entryway that leads underground, to a secret meeting chamber. As you know, I am quite small and the Castle has been my home longer than any other. I was able to observe unnoticed as the nobles entered this chamber. It took some time for all to arrive.. Oh, there were many, but I will get to that.

Just as the Guards were to shut the doors, a strange robed monk came rushing in, his brown robe fluttering as he ran, with a worn looking crook in his hand. A little ways behind him followed a young woman dressed in green finery of a peculiar fashion. They were the last to arrive and she looked at the monk with keen interest. For reason that will soon be made clear. They entered the chamber and mingled about for a bit, enjoying bits of wine, fruit, and... cheese.

After some time, they made their way to a large stone table and took seats; an awkward silence ensued, unbroken for many minutes, as the nobles glanced from one to another. The silence was finally broken by a noble from here in Britain, actually. Sir Andrew Agathe was his name, a retired knight.

Below is a listing of some of the more important people in attendance.

Sir Agathe from Britain
A big hearty man who spoke loudly, yet in a kind fashion. It was he that asked who had called for the meeting. Andrew Agathe, the Knight, Who had apparently come at the insistence of his longtime mentor Sir Kerwin Irons.

Sir Kerwin Irons from Trinsic
Another former knight. Sir Irons was an older gentleman. Who....doesn't seem quite gentle. He was loud, and ornery. He dressed impressively for a knight, though, and cast an imposing picture especially given his age. He struck Sherry as a very unforgiving person, but fair and honorable to those who deserve it.

Lady Constance Demaje from Vesper
A very....shrewish woman whom Sherry did not like her at all! She was haughty and rude. Lady DeMaje seems to have inherited her title and wealth from a late husband. She was with her current husband Karel DeMaje at the meeting.

Karel DeMaje from Vesper
Who apparently is the former manager of the mint in Vesper. Who some of you may have met as Sherry believes it was his mint that had presents stolen by that imp creature many months ago. Karel is a portly man who seemed kind, but also bumbling and more than a little timid.

Vizier Said Halabi from Nujel'm
The Vizier was present to represent the interests of the Sultan of Nujel'm. Although there seemed to be some grumbling over this point, least of all because the Sultan himself did not make an appearance, but especially because the Vizier claimed that the Sultan was ruling from the "Old World", as well as this one. He was tall and thin, and tended to look down his nose at all. He spoke smoothly, though his words slithered like a serpent. He did not have a kind word for many, though he seemed to appreciate the Lady DeMaje. He saved his sharpest words for the mysterious monk fellow, Brother Lian Vinre.

Brother Lian Vinre from New Magincia
Brother Vinre hails from New Magincia and his revelation of this was met with many polite smiles, though I got the sense that few would be very welcoming. He gained their respect and admiration, however, as the meeting stretched on with his wise words, and his modest attitude. By the end of the meeting, all welcomed him, other than the Lady DeMaje and the Vizier, of course. Brother Vinre seemed especially supportive of the young woman who followed him into the Castle, a Lady from Skara Brae, Lady Aila MacTarnaghan.

Lady Aila MacTaraghan from Skara Brae
The young Lady had recently lost her father, a Lord of Skara Brae and the leader of many of the Rangers there. When Sherry “lost” she quite literally, as he vanished some time ago and his daughter has had to step in to lead. She spoke softly, but directly, She was a bit distracted at times, and was a target for the Vizier and Lady DeMaje's sharp comments. It was she who informed the other nobles of the great deed Brother Vinre had performed before entering the Castle. It is said that he helped the defenders outside the walls defeat a great mercenary. Who was clad in pure black armor.

Lady Bellows from Minoc
She has a keen mind, but seemed to speak more from common sense and hard experience. She encouraged the young Lady from Skara Brae to stand up to Lady DeMaje and reprimanded her for not doing so. She expressed her desire to help the realm in any way she could and spoke of the sacrifices all those present would have to make in order to do a complete and effective job. She seems to be a very stern person.

Lord Cecil Montgomery from Yew
All those gathered seemed to know of him as he is supposed to possess a great mind for legal matters and forms of Justice. Yet few paid him any heed as he has become a terrible drunk, as of late. He spoke earnestly, but with a defeated voice. His brilliant mind might still be there, but I am afraid for the moment it has been drowned in too much wine. He was largely ignored during the discussions

What were they discussing, you may want to know? Well, the biggest concern, of course, was in addressing the lack of leadership in the realm, since the death of our Queen, we have been largely leaderless, as a new council had not been established. After much discussion, it was agreed by all those present that they would form a *new* council in order to lead until a new, worthy King or Queen should come forth. They agreed to lead with Honor and would vacate their positions if a just, popular uprising of the people would occur. They would lead as equals, though it was recognized that they should elect one who would perhaps stand slightly above the rest.

It was suggested that Sir Andrew Agathe lead, and the suggestion was well received. Yet... Brother Vinre voiced a concern that perhaps this new leader of a new council should not come from Britain, the heart of the realm. As it would not be in the spirit of Humility, for someone to assume the place of a proper monarch in such a way. Sir Agathe agreed.

As a suitable replacement, he suggested that Brother Lian Vinre himself should represent the Council. As he believed Britannia had suffered from a lack of Humility in the past and that perhaps if not for this, the Queen would still be with us. Vizier Halabi was the only one to voice an objection, though he did so quite loudly, and many, many times. Vinre, for his part, initially refused the nomination, but finally agreed to at least consider it. He said he would have a decision by the time of their next meeting, the date of which Sherry sadly missed.

After this, they ended the meeting and one by one left, the Lady DeMaje first of all with poor Karel in tow. Sir Agathe stayed a bit longer, as he pulled Lord Montgomery aside to speak. Sherry could not hear their words, but she believed the kind Knight was trying to reach out to the troubled lord from Yew. Slowly they all departed from the chamber and left, having agreed to meet again soon.

Sherry the Mouse told everyone gathered this, because she wanted word to reach out to the people of the realm. As for the hope that such a meeting brings, the Nobles somehow neglected to have a scribe nearby to spread word! Sherry believes that once more people hear of what has transpired these Lords and Ladies will make themselves seen and available to speak with in their respective towns.

[EM Event] Of Mice and Meetings

>>> Trammel Facet News <<<by EM Barnaby

The night sky was pitch black, with nary a star shining above the Castle. Lieutenant Jeffrey, returning from a a long day of drilling new Guard recruits was just now returning to the barracks inside the Castle walls. His tired eyes strained to stay open and navigate through the darkness in front of him, yet his mind raced with thoughts of all he had to do in the morning that would be soon in coming. The Commander had rarely left the Castle since evidence linking her to the mercenary attack on Britain had surfaced many weeks prior, leaving even more responsibilities to the Lieutenant. He pondered this and other things as he finally finished crossing the courtyard, arriving at the barracks.

Perhaps had the Lieutenant not had such a hard day or such a full mind (or perhaps if someone had remembered to light the torches in the courtyard), he may have noticed the hurried movements and hushed tones coming from the direction of the stables as someone ducked into the shadows followed quickly by a certain beloved mouse...

"He has entered the barracks, it is safe to speak again, Sherry," spoke Sherry's companion this evening - Delilah, one of the Royal stable hands.

Giving the air a quick sniff, Sherry the Mouse paused before responding, "Perhaps, but he may yet return - the Lieutenant rarely sleeps these days," Sherry said, a little nervously. "Besides, it is far too dark to be speaking in whispers."

"Sherry! When is it a better time to speak in whispers? If not on such a night as this, then when?" Delilah asked with a giggle before continuing, "You said you would tell us what happened in that big meeting of nobles. It has been weeks and nobody has said anything - if you know something, please tell us," the animal keeper pleaded.

"I will! I will!," Sherry shouted, taking herself by surprise. She peered into the darkness outside the stables before continuing in a softer voice, "Perhaps not tonight, though. I will return in two nights and I will tell you all I know. Please Delilah, don't tell anyone!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Just what did happen in the meeting? Who were these nobles, and what do they have planned? Will Delilah, a notorious blabbermouth, tell anyone about the secret meeting?
These questions will be answered on Thursday (7/21) evening at 8pm EST at Castle Britannia (Trammel), and many new questions will take their place.
Be fast, and be quiet as you make your way to the stables. This is strictly an RP event, but will pickup the arc that was begun before we broke for Summerfest.
A summary of important information will be provided for those who could not attend.
EM Adris Starts a New Orc Storyline
Posted on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, 10:06 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Trammel Facet News <<<Last Monday (July 11th, 2011) EM Adris introduced a new storyline, replacing the pirate one, for those players who take part in his midday adventures. A new character called; “Sergeant Gills” premiered who is from Snake Pass north of the city Britain. Sergeant Gills informed the group gathered at the EM Hall in Britain (Trammel) that there was trouble to the north, and Queen Dawn had told him if he ever needed help to call upon the people.
Sergeant Gills provided a gate and the group went through to a mining area where they found the clue shown below.
Spert understood orc and deciphered it as the following - North of Britain set up base we will dig tunnel as our master has requested.
When a trip wire was discovered Sergeant Gills had a volunteer pluck it to see what would happen. Nothing happened then but when the Sergeant kicked up a pickaxe a massive swarm of different types of orcs attacked the party. Each time one of the enchanted pickaxes was picked up a new swarm of orcs attacked. The second type of spawn from having the pickaxe picked up and Ancient Wyrms, and the third type of spawn was made up of Maddening Horrors, Skeletal Dragons and Red Deaths. Finally finishing up with a final spawn of more Ancient Wyrms before Sergeant Gills declared the tunneling stopped for now.
Sergeant Gills than said he was going to write a report and send it to friend of his that is good with enchantments ending the mission for the day.
The midday events by EM Adris will continue this new storyline, where as the Pirate storyline he had already started will be moved to evenings. This new Sergeant Gills storyline will be more role playing oriented with less heavy combat. The Pirates storyline however will be more combat centered and designed for the large groups that are found in the evenings. Watch for the posted dates and times for next parts of both these storylines.
[EM News] Plan of Action
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Monday, July 11, 2011, 10:26 AM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
by EM Adris
After taking the feedback I got from some of you into consideration I’ve decided on the following plan of action for a while.
Mondays 12pm EST
Events on Monday’s will be more roleplay driven but may include monster fighting, they’ll be related to the new Orc storyline I started today.
Friday, Saturday or Sundays at 7 or 8pm EST
Events on these days in the evening are less roleplay, more fighting and they’ll continue on the Pirate storyline that has been running for around a month now.
NOTE: That doesn’t mean theres an event every Monday etc, This is just an outline, Keep an eye on the website to see when the next events are.
You may ask why the Monday morning events have changed storyline, Well It would have been hard to keep a single storyline going over two different times, where there are two different groups of players, some would miss half the story. So to keep both times busy with events there are two separate storylines.
Captain Jack Passer Kidnapped by Pirates!
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Sunday, July 10, 2011, 3:12 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Trammel Facet News <<<Last evening (Saturday, July 9th, 2011) the EM Adris storyline involving Captain Jack Passer and the mystery pirates who have a plan to blow up a city continued. Once again everyone who wished to take part were asked to meet at Captain Passer’s office on Buccaneers Den to find out what mission the Captain had in mind this time to help solve the mystery. The Captain arrived at the appointed time in a slightly inebriated state and took a seat behind his desk. As normal for him, he recapped the events from the last mission and added any newly discovered information.
Just as he was about to give the mission details for the evening a man that looked much like a pirate walked through the front door, and the following happened.
Captain Jack Passer looked surprise as he saw the pirate confidently stroll into the room. The pirate with almost a sneer in his voice said loud enough for everyone to hear, “My my Jack, you weren't too hard to find.”
Captain Jack Passer then frowned before asking “What on earth are you doing here?” as he stepped off his chair wobbling. This only made the pirate grin in glee seeing that he had unnerved the captain. “How DID you find my office?” inquired the Captain in a slightly shaken voice.
The pirate just kept his ice cold eyes locked on him as he answered and started working his way through the crowded room towards Jack, “It isn't obvious?” Captain Jack just looked around with a slightly confused look on his face as the pirate continued, “ I followed your ship!” He then paused for a second as he was finally standing face to face with Jack before finishing his statement. “ And I'm here to take you with me!”
Captain Passer slapped his forehead in surprise and slightly stumbled back one step. The pirate leaned forward a bit and barked at Jack.”Now MOVE to the door!”
Getting back a bit of his bravado that he shown before the pirate had entered the room Jack spat back to the pirate. “I don't think so...” Jack’s eyes went wide when he realized that the pirate had pulled out a knife and had lightly pushed up against his shirt. The pirate then nodded towards the door he had entered making his point that Jack should head in that direction by giving him a slight jab with the tip of the knife.
Captain Jack looked at the gathered group of people in the room begging for help with his eyes, as he slowly moved towards the door. The frustration of not knowing what to do without getting the Captain killed showed on many of the faces as the pirate and his new prisoner worked their way back through the room. The pirate could also sense that the energy in the room was changing as he tried to get Jack to go faster by yelling “Move!” at him twice. As they exited the door to the outside Jack let out a pitiful scream of “HELP!” that caused everyone in the room to jump into action rushing for the door.
The gathered mob rushed out the door only to find that the pirates were ready for them with a waiting rear guard as the pirate who took Jack escaped with his prisoner. A raging battle ensued with the attempting rescuers of Captain Jack working together along with a few of their pets to crush the guard the kidnapping pirate had left behind him. Every time it seemed the battle was near its end more pirate forces would appear and needed to be vanquished too.
While the combat was at its heaviest the pirate that took Captain Passer was spotted outside Jacks office and was overheard saying to the gathered forces, “You may have killed my friends but I've got your captain... And you know what?” He then stopped for a second as if the savor what he was about to say. ”Now I've set this place to explode.” He then let out the crazy laugh you have ever heard as a huge explosion ripped through the building behind him. Causing flames and smoke to envelope the area for a split second before the flames retreated back to the building alone. Captain Jack Passer who was the only one who might have had a idea what the pirates were up to was kidnapped and all the evidence/clues that he had collected about the pirates was now lost forever.
As the explosion cleared yet another group of pirates came rushing in from nowhere so no one had time to ponder what we would do without Captain Passer’s leadership. All anyone knew was that the present danger needed removed. After the last pirate fell and was looted EM Adris opened a gate to the EM Hall in Britain and informed everyone we were done for the day.
There were 15 shirts in red bags found on some of the pirates also two of the pirates dropped artifacts. The shirts were fancy shirts all of the same color and had the same written on them.
The kidnapping of Captain Jack Passer Storyline will continue Monday July 11th at 12pm EST (Noon) the gathered group will meet with a stranger, at the EM Hall.
For those of you who have been wondering about the Bear from the Mesanna Roulette, EM Adris stated that they will post on Catskills.UOem.net when they have any news on it.
Catskills Night of Mesanna Roulette
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Saturday, July 9, 2011, 1:46 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Ilshenar News <<<On Thursday July 7th EM Adris held a special short notice “Meet & Greet” at the EM Hall in Britain (Trammel) causing a large crowd to show up wondering what was going on. Shortly before the appointed time EM Adris appeared before the gathered throng and announced why he had gathered everyone there. Following up on a promise made by EM Kasaven it was now Catskills turn for Mesanna Roulette and it was to take place that very evening.
Everyone was herded into a special Moongate that took them to an enclosed valley on the Ilshenar facet where the event was to take place. (The gate was only supposed to remain open for a period of ten minutes, but due to a miscommunication it stayed open much longer than that.) Mesanna and EM Adris tried to have everyone organize into a single line back from a table she has set up. Though this proved near impossible with many players rushing forward and failing to listen to simple instructions or show consideration for those that were there before them.
The rules for Mesanna Roulette are as follows.
1. Mesanna would call players up behind the table with her one at a time and give them a random number between two and twelve.
2. The players would then click on a stuffed bear that was also behind the table with Mesanna. The stuffed bear acted like a dice cup and generated two numbers between one and six. The two numbers were added together and that was your number. Giving the players a one in eleven chance of winning.
3. If the number rolled matched the number given to the player by Mesanna the player won a prize and you got to live.
4. If the number did not match Mesanna’s chosen number you were killed on the spot. From there the players were to run down to EM Adris who was about half way down the waiting line and got resurrected at a Ankh placed there and Adris would then give them the prize for the losers.
5. After getting your prize you could run back up and recover your belongings from your body.
6. Everyone that was there was only given one chance at the game. Once you did it one time you were to be done.
The loser’s prize was a bell with the following inscription. “I Got My Bell Rung By Mesanna Playing Roulette”
The winners got a set of footprints with the following inscription, “All Mesanna Saw Was These Footprints As I Walked Away Alive While Playing Mesanna Roulette”
The final totals were 281 bells given out and approximately 20 sets of footprints. Meaning roughly one out of every fifteen people that played the roulette game won a set of footprints and lived.
It was also decided that the stuffed bear used for the roulette would be given away at the end of the evening. The way chosen was by the gathered players writing a number between one and a thousand in a book and giving to EM Adris. Unfortunately no one guessed the correct number chosen so the bear was not given out that evening. However Mesanna said possibly sometime this weekend she would hide the bear on the shard and give a clue where it could be found. She was considering holding this wild bear hunt before EM Adris’s Captain Jack Passer event this evening, but that has not been confirmed as of yet. Soon as we hear of a date and time we will post it here on Stratics.
A few players spoke to Mesanna after the event was over and she shared some information during that discussion that was informative.
1. The UO Team is working right now on “Clean Up Britannia” sort of like the original one from many years ago as Mesanna described it “its the kitchen sink trash barrel one”.
2. Mesanna plays on a couple shards and has 3 accounts so there goes the wild rumor that the members of the dev team must have never played the game they are working on.
3. The status of the throne with Queen Dawn was also discussed. Mesanna told the group that she has thrown am idea for the new King or Queen and is waiting to see if anyone has a heart attack over it. The only clues she would give is, “Mesanna: It’s someone that is old school, but not Lord British.”
4. Factions were a hot subject and she shared her opinions on it too. (Mesanna’s opinions are hers alone and do not represent the entire Dev team or Mythics.) She said that she wanted to make healing count as damage; no one wants to be a healer because they never get looting rights. She also feels that they need to wipe faction points, because it is unrealistic with numbers due to all the people that have the gear and stay in Trammel never fighting. Killing one person and getting 1 billion points is insane. She would also love to remove factions all together and put back in chaos order. Mesanna encouraged everyone gathered to show they support new ideas for change by posting or email to the dev team, rather than having the dev team only going by a few posts on the boards that do do not reflect the opinion of the majority of the players.
5. Mesanna also wanted everyone to know this, “Mesanna: I do read your emails and I do listen to you guys and I do go back and tell the team. “
6. One of Mesanna’s more radical ideas was this, “Mesanna: I wanted to give thieves something more like being able to steal in Trammel. I think a few members fainted over that one...lol”
7. Mesanna talked a bit about Veterans Rewards and inquired as to what we might like for a reward. She did mention that one of the ideas they are playing with is “Check Books” a book where players could store checks. She said that if anyone had a great idea for a new Veterans Reward to email her with the idea at [email protected]
On a personal note I do want to thank Mesanna and EM Adris for bring us this great event, and I apologize again for the rude and greedy behavior of some members of the shard. That night I was ashamed to say I was a member of the Catskills shard community and felt sorry for the majority of the population who did listen to you and waited patiently for their turn, even though a few acted very childishly that evening. I wish I could say all those were cross shard traders but I am afraid quite a few were regular players on our shard who showed poor manners and greed. Blanche Island, Warehouses and Missing Ships!
>>> Trammel Facet News <<<Two Mondays ago Captain Jack Passer summoned a group of adventurers to travel with him once again to Blanche Island in the hopes of finding out more about the plans of the pirates whom he had discovered there. In the two previous trips the assembled groups had discovered that the pirates were stocking up on explosive supplies and were planning on attacking an city. Many of the recovered clues pointed to an attack on Britain, but there was no solid evidence to this being a fact. The last time out Captain Passer’s ship was attacked at sea, and a surprise ambush was sprung on the island at the location of the supply ship, that was anchored along the shoreline.
This time Captain Passer decided not to take his ship over to Blanche Island but to use magic to travel there instead. He stated that once there all the gathered people were to hide and listen to any of the pirate gang that was spotted, in the hopes to gather more useful information. When the party arrived through the gate the area was found bare and there was no ship along the shore. Captain jack then requested that most players either cast a spell to make themselves invisible or hide the best they could. Those who could not hide very well were told to stand behind trees and wait for any of the pirates to arrive so they could gather information. Shortly afterwards a pirate ship was seen sailing up to the shoreline.
Unfortunately some of the party were overeager and attacked the pirates on the ship right away ruining any chance to gather useful information off them. The pirates flooded off the ship on to the island and a giant battle ensued with Captain Passer’s forces being victorious. As soon as the battle was finished Captain Passer ordered the ship searched and a book was recovered. The book stated that the cargo from the ship was to be sent to East Britain. It was decided then by Captain Passer that the group should gate to East Britain to search for new clues.
Once there a suspicious guard was found standing in front of a warehouse that had its entrance blocked. When questioned by the party about what he was guarding he said. ‘Oh nothing special, just some crates.’ When pressed on what was in those crates he replied, ‘They’re full of apples, pears and bananas.’ When asked why the door was blocked off his answer was, ‘You see these are expensive fruit.’ Then he whistled innocently. He was then asked if we could see inside the warehouse his answer was, ‘I’m afraid I cannot allow you inside.’ The party after talking to the guard gathered and it was decided to rush the door in force, hopefully to breaking through and see what was in the warehouse.
The adventurers crashed through the blocked entrance and swarmed into the warehouse only to find it empty of anything. After a quick search and nothing was found it was decided that the party had been tricked into coming to Britain. With a dead trail Captain Passer suggested that the party return to Blanche Island and to secure the cargo on the ship that was captured earlier.
Upon the group return to the island it was discovered the ship was gone from where it was before everyone went to Britain. The group had been tricked and the pirates had escaped with the ship and all its cargo of explosives for destinations unknown. Captain Jack asked for all that was there to look for the missing ship and also for clues as to where they were getting their explosives from. If anyone found them they were to drop him a book telling him where they found them.
SinDee [PGoH] found the ship this week along the shore east of Britain but its cargo of explosives had been unloaded already so there is no telling where they are.
Captain Jack Passer has asked those willing to help solve this mystery to join him Saturday, July 9th at 8pm EST at Jack Passer’s at his office in Buc's Den. (Gate at EM Hall) to continue on from events of two Mondays ago.
The winner will receive a special recognition of a value far greater than that of the Eye.
Once again the call went out for a hardy group of adventurers to gather with Captain Jack Passer on Buccaneers Den. When all were gathered Captain Passer informed everyone that he had been watching Blanche Island with his scope, and he felt it needed visited again. From there he encouraged everyone to join him on his ship for a quick trip over to the island for some investigating.
This trip was far from uneventful as not once but twice Captain Passer’s ship was attacked by ships loaded down with pirates who boarded his ship and tried to kill everyone aboard. Luckily both attempts were repelled and all the pirates were slain. This only proved to everyone aboard Captain Passer’s ship that the pirates did not want anyone to return to Blanche Island.
As the island was neared a new structure was spotted along with a boat almost at the same location as the one that was blown up a few days before. The structure proved to belong to soul who enjoyed the privacy of a quiet island and had nothing to do with the pirate threat, but the boat was another case. When nearing the watercraft a well organized empty camp was found in front of it.
Captain Jack Passer boarded the ship to scout it as his party waited to see what he would find out. He quickly returned yelling that the ship was full of pirates. Once again the party was engaged in bloody combat. After some fierce fighting on the island the pirates were once again defeated. Soon after the victory Captain Passer found a note that stated that the pirates needed to keep the island clear for a shipment on Monday. Captain Passer decided to hamper the pirate’s plans by destroying the ship, so he lit some black powder around the ship on fire and a massive explosion engulfed the area.
The only problem was that somehow burning fire was an after affect from the explosion and once again the party was engaged in combat with the living fire, which was joined by yet again a few pirates. As normal these threats were dispatched and searched for clues. A shipment order was found on one of the pirates that also stated that there would be a shipment on Monday. Captain Passer surmised that the pirates must be using Blanche Island to store goods before moving them along to the city of Britain. Plans were made to once again gather on Monday, June 27, 2011 at noon to see what will happen next with the looming pirate threat.
Some of the party was lucky enough to get one or more of ten “Splinters from a Pirate Ship.” That was recovered from some of the pirates that were faced. That is sure to be a prized item from this adventure.
Another Meeting with Jack Passer (Saturday 25th)
>>> Trammel Facet News <<<The second EM Adris midday storyline event with Captain Jack Passer will take place Saturday the 25th. Below is a recap of what happened last Monday to get everyone up to speed.
When last we gathered Captain Jack Passer had summoned an adventure party to accompany him to Blanche Island where he had spotted a strange ship anchored along the shoreline. Sailing to the island and boarding the ship a quick search was done. The mystery craft was discovered to be packed full of explosives and what might be valuable clues were found in the ships hold. Before the clues could be looked at, a small group of what appeared to be pirates guarding the ship attacked Captain Passer’s party but were quickly dispatched. Taking the clues found on both the ship and the dead pirates bodies it was discovered that a plan was in motion to use the explosives to attack an undisclosed city. Though a map of Britain was also recovered making many think that it was the intended target. The explosives laden ship was blown up to prevent the pirates from using them, but Captain Jack Passer fears that there are more pirates out there and we have only discovered a small part of their evil plans.
Captain Passer said he would do more investigating into this mystery and requested that those heroes who want to help stop the pirates come when he called again. He has called, so those brave enough come to his call..
Date: Saturday 25th
Time: 12pm EST (Noon)
Meet Jack Passer at his office in Buc's Den. (Gate at EM Hall) to continue on from Mondays activities.
