 Nidaros Marks One Year Rebirth! | |

The player run city of Nidaros marked it's first anniversary last eve as members of the Paxlair Alliance gathered at the cities banner for a night of fun, food, and festivities to mark the occasion. Kicking off the night was the Tuesday Paxlair meeting with announcements and convocation from Governor Winfield with upcoming scheduled events from around thier alliance. Lady Pheonix spoke of a Thanksgiving feast held yearly in the city of Dragons Watch, where players will bring hired npcs to dinner in the hopes of winning the "name game" by creatings a famous persons name with the two npc's. A pumpkin pie eating contest, along with a Thanksgiving Turkey (chicken) battle to be held much to the delight of those in attendance! Also noted were the emergence of thier Friday Night Adventures beginning at 8pm est. Last weeks run was to the hallowed grounds of the foul Medusa!
With the area decorated to the hilt the festivities soon were well underway as the custom brewed ale and liquers flowed like spring rains. Foods aplenty as fruits of the cities labor were abundant. Players enjoyed each others company and anxiously awaited the start of the nights main event, the Horse Race!
Riders mustered along the start/finish line with thier freshly tamed and unbonded mounts, Governor Winfield was spotted laying fish along the road in the hopes that perhaps they may guide him along his way or even perhaps slip up his fellow racers as well! I bought two myself for 3 gold peices per! Once all racers were set the horn was sounded to begin as competitors ran hard and fast en route from Nidaros to Minoc and back.
The trail long and treacherous, racers distanced themselves from one another along the stretch. In the end as he crossed the finish line slightly a screen or two ahead of Lady Winmere, The Old man Winfield himself was delcared the winner! Shortly following Winmere in Second place was Lord Nanoc of Dragons Watch in third. The course claimed a few as Lady Pheonix wandered in lost and beleaguered after the long run.
Immediately following the nights main event speeches were heard from the Statehood's Governor Winfield, Nidaros' Mayor Zanku, along with the Town Librarian Maedhros. Winners were announced in the short story contest as Lord Mach of DWxC was named the champion writer with his selection being added to the city library for all to enjoy. Gifts were exchanged as the Paxlair Kitchen presented an anniversary cake to the Town Mayor along with Nidaros' offer of thanks to the Statehood's leader in the form of a lucky fishing hat pictured below! Winfield looked quite sporty in his new duds! The city of Guardians Gate and the Royal Britannian Guards also presented the city with a commemorative engraved trophy and Limited edition library selection to add to it's ever growing collection.
With the formalities now complete the party really got goin as the attendee's did their best to empty the various selections of home brewed spirits and such about the area. My head a tad fuzzy today, I can say that the brewers of Nidaros know thier brew! Alas with any good party the night must come to an end.....
Thanking those in attendance Mayor Zanku wished everyone a good eve and closed the evenings festivities.

| Guardians Gate Auction Reveals Shows Fragile State of Sosarian Economic Recovery | |

The successful RBG auction held Friday September 23rd from 9pm to 12:10pm showed that despite the better employment numbers the Sosarian economy is still a rapidly changing. Selling everything from cow statues to teleport tiles to random elemental scythes the RBG auction is currently the only auction on Chesapeake. This makes it invaluable to see the current economic state of Sosaria and while the unemployed hordes that we had sadly grown used to seeing around all the banks have disappeared, the Sosarian economy is still highly volatile.  Things that once sold for 20 million gold have are now barely moving for 11 million. Other items continue to gain value though making it difficult for the average Sosarian to judge what things are worth. The RBG auction had 2 separate lots of teleport tiles that would have once fetched 20 million. The first sold for 12.2 million and the second for a mere 11 million, with the second lot only gathering one bid. Messana Cat Statues from Catskills sold for a mere 550,000 gold for a set of 2. Pushme Pullyu's have also seen a dramatic loss in value with a set of two going for a mere 1.5 million. Of course some items have held their value very well as the bidding war between Abby Normal of UFO and Oberon over a set of 120 Mysticism, Imbuing and Focus scrolls, they ended up selling to Oberon for 7.2. A Crystallized Essence of course sold rapidly for 5.5 million gold. A total of 20 lots did not sell including EM Christmas Items and 20 powders of fortification showing that past economic trends are not necessarily holding true. The key lesson of the auction tonight is that Sosaria is currently a buyers market so remember to come out and see the deals!

Through the power of teamwork and months and months of dedication they have swept every category in the Sons of the Sea, 2011 Feelin' Crabby Tournament!!! The ship may have been sponsored by Kijustsu Anei Village however are not all of its crew are inhabitants, they also come from other townships and entities. We feel that each township should share in the victory such as Assistant Vice Admiral Adrianna from Zedland City, Crabber Calixtula from Moria Village, Janitor Poopsie from Area 51, Firstmate Kaiko from Kijustsu Anei Keys, Deck Boss Elves from Kijustsu Anei Village, Crabber Lure Alie from Pitmuck Settlement, Crabber Heimaterde from Kijustsu Anei Village, Deck Boss Bishop from Kijustsu Anei Village and Captain Orin from Kijustsu Anei Keys. Guildmaster Santiago from the Sons of the Sea welcomed the crews from the SKS Star and the never give up, never surrender crew of the Lil' Morsel.  " Ahoy every body And welcome to da 'wards ceremony here. It be a long tournament dis summer with lot's o' BEEG Crabs bein' caught BUT...in da end der can only be da one winner. Lotsa crew be 'aulin' dat crab dis summer! But dere be one crew dat deserve a special mention. Beeg mention for BEEG effort! Da Crew o' da Lil' Morsel Captain Sushi! She be da baddest crabber around! Just by 'erself she caught seven thousand crabs over da tournament. Now we get to da moment ye be waitin' for! Ahem! Ahem! We start with Vessel achievements. Amassing a total of 11,617 total crustaceans Dat be crabs and lobstahs, Da award goes to The SKS Star!

" went on to announce the Individual achievements in the following categories. -Most Caught Crustaceans -Most Named Catches By Individual -Heaviest Crab Caught -Heaviest Lobster Caught Sweeping all four categories was Captain Orin of the SKS Star and in a very close second for Heaviest Crab Caught was SKS Star Deck Boss Bishop from the Empire of Valor guild!  " After der been five tournament windows. After bravin' da 'igh Seas, Fighten da Mobey Lobstahs. Worryin dat ye may not be commin' 'ome to ya lovies. Dem 'igh Seas be unforgiven! An amazing 4599 crabs and lobstahs is da record set by da winner o' da individual catch category Orin! In recognition of dees many achievements. Da Son's o' Da Sea is 'onored to dub Orin da Champion o' dis tournament!" embroidered the back of Orin's hat recognizing the accomplishment. To assist with the embroidering was none other then the mischievous and more diabolically ebil goddess in the history of world Hot Pi... *cough* err Proverbial Goddess of Death Mesanna! The SKS Crew was thrilled to see her once again after their encounter with her on the Seas during one of the tournament windows, where they plotted the downfall of the Noble and innocent Gareth. The crew of the SKS Star presented Santiago with a gift of appreciation in the form of backpack art depicting the SKS Santiago [Sons of the Sea, Trinsic] crabbing on the high seas which was put together by Calixtula, a statue engraved “Santiago may have Crabs but we still Lobs him” and a chest engraved Santiagos Chest, 2011 Crabbin tournament. Santiago sent a message for us to pass along to the Crew of the SKS Star " Crew names will be added to ships in the Sons of the Seao Also, Crabbin' Club sashes are doable for the winning ship. I have the Crew, let them know to see me at some point and I'll get them for them" The crew of the SKS Star would also like to say a few words and sing a song for those who are baffled by their ability to have five crabbers going on one vessel with such high catch results. First for high results just remember this, there is no difference between a full lobster trap and an empty lobster trap, just a little assistance with the same type will empty a full trap and place an empty trap Also running crabbing drills improves your speed and accuracy...just ask Bishop! And Remember!!!! Row, row, row your boat, Gently down the crab lines. *Bob* and Pull, *Bob* and Pull, Imagination is the Key!

Does your group, guild, or player run town have announcements or events they'd like to share with the community? If so please feel free to submit it to the shard news! As much as we'd like to be everywhere to witness all the happenings here on Chesapeake we all know how difficult that can be! So if your group sees news as it happens wether it be an EM event, a righteous overtaking of a Felucca spawn, guild happenings, hunts, new establishments, we'd like to hear about it!
If you'd like to submit items to the news it's very simple! Just jot down whats seen or to be announced and mail it to us at uochesapeake@stratics.com! Screenshots and videos are also welcome. If you know your having your event ahead of time, feel free to mail us in advance to have a reporter attend your event. We'll travel to the depths of any dungeon to put the story out!
The Chesapeake News Team is also seeking new members! If you have a knack for telling the tale, please check out the link herein to apply to become a reporter yourself! We are always seeking energetic, laid back ,community members to add to the team.

House of Commons Meeting Sunday August 14th, 2011 EM's Dudley and Drosslemeyer once again welcomed the realm to the weekly meet in Trammel last eve for open discussion and announcements for the upcoming weeks events here on Chesapeake. The following announcments were given concerning said events:  August 17th 6pm -10pm - "Feeling Crabby" Tournament window will open, ships will crab to thier hearts delight in search of overall weight as well as single catch with the opportunity for warfare at sea doubling this week with 8 possible pirate encounters worth 500 crab each! August 18th 7pm - Sosarian Solstice Fair opens its doors with 3 events: "Dress the Mascot" - Players will be placed into teams where they will attempt to form two winning costumes for the fairs proprietors Dudley and Dross to dawn while operating the fair. "Bunnies Gone Bannanas" - One can only speculate on this one, bring your wabbit slayers.... "Wine and Spirits Expo" - Chance for local brewers and distillers to exhange and sample products from about the realm. August 21st 7pm - Fortune's Fire Casino - Unveils a new game very similar to slots this go round one in which the crowd will surely enjoy. Not just for high rollers this games max bet is 50k! 9pm - House of Commons Meet - Regularly scheduled meet with shard EM Team immediately following the casino events conclusion. August 24th / 30th - Two events concerning the "Poseidons Fury" event arc are on the book however are subject to change. Stay toon'd as Dudley would say for further information in the EM Forums. The floor was opened for questions as not many offered anything this week. The question to updates of the feeling crabby tournament scoring was answered as the standings were updated on 7/24 and the question of wether or not a big spenders/ high rollers game would soon be offered at the Fortunes Fire Casino was responded to as it was still a work in progress. Scelestus Meets His Fate
Saturday 8/6/11
Tel Mur
The call went out to meet in the royal city of Tel Mur this week as adventurers gathered in the courtyard preceeding the Gargoyle Palace. Upon thier arrival the omnipotent ruler of the lands greeted them with a tale of her nemesis Scelestus. Imprisoned by a spell yet invunerable for quite some time, the monstrous being lay in stasis deep along the winding paths surrounding the Void Isle region. Most evil well contained may be left forever however Queen Zhah had a most special desure to see this spell lifted, for her very own daughter lay next to the beast in stasis as well. Zhah went on to explain her intentions to free them both and destroy Scelestus once and for all.
The journey would not be easy, traveling on foot through the treacherous lands of Tel Mur. Raptors, trapdoor spiders, and even the menacing minions of scelestus himself stood between the party and thier destination. After a valient fight clearing the path, they had alas reached thier destination.
Queen Zhah rallied her forces around Scelestus as she prepared her spell for release. Her majesty beagn to chant the spells magical words over and over again. With no apparent effect the Queen soon requested all those in attendance to lend thier being to stengthen her spells power. Within moments the beast was free as those in attendance made way as he moved about the area. With another cast of enchantment the power beast seemed weakended as the Queen was now convinced her spell had removed the magical barrier that has for so long protected this foul creature. The call to attack soon rang out as all hell broke loose.
Battling for what seemed like hours the crowd threw everything they had arrows, spell, sword, and beast upon the creature as they slowly began to gain ground on the storied beast. He did his share as well with scores of casualties about the area. Nearing his desmise the creature howled in pain as Queen lay the final blow, riding the lands of her long time nemesis.
The night was truly a happy ending as Rhista was free and reunited with her mother. Elated and exhausted the Queen soon retreated to her royal quarters to catch up with her beloved kin. The adventurers responsible for aiding the Queen in the nights quest were rewarded with a commemorative rendition of the claw of Scelestus, which when used emits a shower of sparkle surrounding the user. Let us hope no such evil arises from the lands of Tel Mur hence forth, yet another fine battle for the realm that is Chesapeake.....

 Commander Drake Foxx's voice echoed through the Assembly buildings hall as he called the Royal Guard to ATTTTENNNTIOON The Britannian Provisional Government authorized combat operations on the island of Atheneum, located in Ter Mur after receiving a special request from Queen Zhah herself asking for assistance. Their mission was to clear out "pesky" Demons on the island and obtain any ancient scrolls. Mission:Clear Atheneum Island and Secure Gargish Documents -Primary Objective: Clear Atheneum Island of all Demons

Commander Drake Foxx, " We certainly faught the good fight Guards
While we were unable to recover all of the documents we did recover some of them, three to be exact I am very proud of all of you this eve. Who was the mage responsible for keeping the paralyze fields up?" Lycanthropy humbly informed the commander that he was laying down the fields. Commander Drake Foxx called it an excellent tactic and stated he should be commended for it. Captain Irina and Commander Drake Foxx took note of each persons accomplishments and will promote those where applicable. |

Promotion Ceremony - Naomie De'Layne
EVI Township, New Magincia Tuesday, July 19, 2011 By:Lord Gareth/Merik  Late last night a special ceremony was held on the SKS Flagship Corpic near the coastline of the EVI township, located on New Magincia Island. Captains working the midnight shipping shift gathered to witness the promotion of Naomie De'Layne, conducted by Fleet Admiral Orin. "As Admiral of the EVI/SKS Fleet, I have the great honor and privilege of promoting one of our finest officers. At the bottom of the Sea lie the most Ancient and Powerful of civilizations within this world, the Merman and Mermaids."
Orin held the Trident over the side railing, dipping it into the Sea as he continued the speaking.. "We ask for their blessings to be bestowed upon the promotion of Lady Naomie De'Layne. We are but mere slaves to the will and needs of the Merman and Mermaids; do you Lady Naomie De'Layne give your faith and loyalty to not only the EVI/SKS but the Merman and Mermaids below?"
Once Naomie De'Layne answered yes the Trident began glowing a bright golden color which signified the blessing of the Merman and Mermaids. Orin then raised the trident above Naomie's head for her to receive their blessing. "As you are doused in the blessings of the Merman and Mermaids, I hereby promote Lady Naomie De'Layne to the rank of Vice Admiral, with all of the rights and privileges thereto. May the Sea have mercy on your soul."
Fireworks were launched into the air as attendees called out for Naomie to make a speech. With a humble smile she turned towards them to speak. "Thank you, we may have many obstacles to face in the near future and I wish a collaboration of all, within those words I mean input and full recognition of all. Could be those scallywag pirates or could be unknown monsters, demons, dragons ...but know we will not, the lot of us...have mutiny within our ranks. Thank you all, friends!"

For a few months now many of the home owners and supporters on the island of New Magincia have been working towards the creation of a new township in the area.
Laying the beginning foundations of the township are homeowners Gunga Din, Elijah Cross, A Sto ned Mariner, Demon Slayer, Naomie De'Layne, Rivi Ravenwynd, Sudina, TigerLily, Cheever, Nezuna and Lord Nabin. With the support of the Void Core of the Ethereal Void Imperium.
A temporary government has been founded on the island and will soon take the reigns as the township edges closer to recognition.

The VIP guild held it's weekly auction last eve in New Magencia, our first opportunity to visit the returning auctioneers as they have reopened thier doors in thier new location. Long time residents in the auction business here on Chesapeake, the VIP bunch held a great auction with atm's available, lotto and even super lotto! Located along the eastern shores of New Magencia the location boasts teleport links to the SHE auction as well as the Kijustsu Anei Community Teleport Hub to aid travelers along thier merry way. The nights high bidding item was an event item from the Legends shard they described as the Lens of All Seeing, which fetched a whopping 31 million gold. Make sure and keep your schedules clear on Wednesday nights around 7pm and pay this new establishment a visit!

Thursday, June 2nd @ 8:30pm ET, The Nemesis Stone Triumph Dedication & Memorial, Gate from Luna Bank.
The unveiling of the triumph built to commemorate the victory against the vile forces of Kendrick Morrow. If you participated in the event you should attend. This is a RP heavy event, there will be no combat. Sunday, June 5th @ 7pm ET, The Sosarian Solstice Fair The Sosarian Solstice Fair opens for another night of gaming enjoyment.
The Bill of Events includes:
7pm to 8pm - The Running of the Bulls
The contestant will run, wearing only a pair of short pants, through a pen of angry bulls. Should the contestant survive for one minute, they win!
8pm to 9pm - Pie the Pinata
Contestants will race to blow up their pinata. Whoever blows up their pinata first, wins that round! Exact determination of winner to be made the night of the fair.

There will be 4 combat encounters during this window, these combat encounters can be fought using conventional weapons as well as canon fire. Nemesis Stone Destroyed!
Morrow's Whereabout Unknown!
The realm gathered in Luna recently to aid Lord Balandar in the destruction of "The Nemesis Stone" which until recently had plaqued player cities around the realm. Necromantic Phylacteries had been spawnin nightmarish creatures to ravage communities as the Magician himself collected our very own worst fears powering the sought after stone.
The gate arose in Luna leading us to the home of Balandar himself. Filling the quaint homes main room Balandar soon arrived to disclose the new information he had uncovered. The whereabouts of the stone now known our mission was simple, aid in it's destruction and find the elusive Kendrick Morrow.
 
Opening a gate to the newfound coordinates led those in attendance into a murky dark hall. The room aglow with the electric powers of the Nemesis Stone. Balandar explained the process by which he believed the stone may be destroyed. Surrounding the Stone with pillars of energy, puzzles if you will. The crowd set out to make the Stone vunerable by powering down the pillars. This was not without its own treachery as Balrons soon emerged to defend the area.
Soon the pillars were all rendered inactive as Balandar moved into position to attempt the stone's destruction. Sinking the Salve a great arc of electricity struck Balandar as dazed onlookers felt helpless other then to watch as events unfolded.
 
Among the shower of electricity and what we suspected was the destruction of the stone a familiar face appeared to taunt and scoff the crowd proclaiming thier demise would soon come by the sum of our very worst nightmares. Those very nightmares collected by the stone itself were soon unleashed upon the crowd as Kendrick Morrow himslef now defended his Nemesis Stone!
 
The beast was dark and surly as it stalked the crowd, dealing death to anyone it neared. The defenders fought valiently as the it took the collective might of all in attendace to begin to weaken the Archnemesis Daemon.
 
It was a long battle to at last defeat Archnemesis Daemon, with his minion as well as murderous plot now foiled, Morrow made a magical exit once more. Barely escaping the grasp of Balandar once more, rest assured he will be back on the trail of the magician once rested and ready for action once more. For now we rest easy as at least this cumlination of the evil Morrow is at bay. The adventurers soon met once more at the Fortunes Fire Casino to recall the nights events as Balandar thanked everyone for thier help this eve.
Keep a sharp eye and ear out for information or rumor regarding the whereabouts of Morrow. Who knows what eveil his mind will now seek as he strives to continue to his ambitious reign of havoc around the realm. One thing is for certain wherever he may try and however he may seek to undermine the safety of the realm Balandar and the brave warriors of Chesapeake will be hot on the trail.......

" Uncovering The Past "
“Hey! Watch that! Some of this stuff is ancient!” Captain Irina shouted to one of the recruits helping to relocate the crates of Mornwok’s goods. “It’s not going to be of any use to us if it’s all busted!” She grumbled out something about diligence as she helped carry the next set of crates off the heavily laden pack horses. She heard a crash of wood and pottery and she quickly set her crate down and ran to where the noise had come from.
“Captain! I’m sorry, it was an accident, I swear!”
Just as Irina was about to open her mouth and yell at the man she noticed that there was more than just the remains of the vase and crate there, there was a bound book with a few scrolls tied to it with twine. She frowned and knelt, picking them up and dusting them off. The book looked positively ancient.
“Um…Captain, did you want me...”
Irina gave the recruit a scowl. “Just get back to unloading the horses. I’ll clean this up. You may have stumbled on something important.” She took the book inside and sat at a desk, laying it open as she unfurled one of the scrolls that appeared to be a map of the Fens of the Dead with markings on it that she didn’t recognize. The second scroll turned out to be a more familiar map, but with scribbled indicators written on it in some sort of code she couldn’t decipher. As she looked through the book, it seemed to have had markings or pages with notations on it; From as best she could tell they could have been Mornwok’s handwriting, but she couldn’t be sure. What she could tell by the time she finished looking through it was that the Commander would definitely want to see it. |
