MOA Fees Free February and Valentines Flair

. MOA Fees Free February and Valentimes Flair
One of my favorite Valentines designs from a Japanese Shard
This is just a reminder that all items submitted for auction are now subject to fees free February. This is a yearly month of free submits to further enhance the selling process at MOA.
Majestic Oaks runs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 by the eastern sky and we anticipate a great year ahead. I was at the auction this past week and the place is decorated for Valentines.
Even the entrance to the auction house has a flowery love inspired design.

Below are a few more screenshots from the auction house, green and pink benches and all. Roses are popular this time of year.

Raven Firedragon Hosts First -Y- Battle Chicken Tourny

. . -Y- Battle Chicken Tourny
This past saturday Raven Firedragon hosted the first Battle Chicken Tournament for the -Y- Guild.
Pet fighting has a long history on Great Lakes and the Chicken Fight Club has been the quality standard for years. The -Y- based Battle Chicken Fights will be once a month I am told. There was a small turn out for this new event but excitement was big for those that attended. Many battle chickens are in training at this time so next months event should be bigger and better.

There was a mystery box/chest game of chance during half time and lil Babs Stabs was the winner.

Below are a few screenshots from the event. Mammy took first place and Dirty Emerald was runner up. Oh yes.....there were prizes for the winners.

GOF Auction | |

. . GOF Auction ~

Since the first of the year I have been covering many of the auction houses on Great Lakes and this past weekend I attended the Guild of Friends Auction House. Hunter, Zaria and Lexi were running the show. At this time I would like to give a shout out to all the gaters at all the auction houses. Their names are rarely mentioned in the News and they do a very important and boring job.

Hunter was no Temptress from the -Y- Auctions but he did a fine job. Lexi was looking as seductive as always, and charming too. I do like the warm cozy inviting feeling of the decor of this auction house. Design wise I just wish the stairs were another color than white but hey....I am a fussy old lady *laughs*.

Great items hit the autioneers block. Even I bid and won a fallen branch. I am a sucker for dead wood.
Trivia came late in the evening as Hunter was excited by the amount of patrons but it did finally come and it was fun.

On the subject of patrons......-420, DYT, -Y-, MEAT, BANE, NO-S, PwNt, T/G, DC*, ToM, FCB, B*R, AsoM, CFC, and FKS guilds all had members in attendance.
GOF is one of the nicest guilds on Great Lakes and we thank them for taking the time and effort to hold this player run event.

Please remember to join the EM Event chat for this event.
Please re-read the Tournament Rules before the event:
One change: rather than doing match-ups, I will read from the list of registered players. If Players A and B are both there, they will fight. If Player B is not there, s/he will be disqualified and Player A will fight Player C, etc.
If there is nobody to fight the last player, s/he gets a bye into the next round. Order for the second round will be determined by in-game dice roll. Once we’re down to three players in a division there will be no byes.
When your name is called, go down into the hallway by the teleporters. If you are blue, flag gray by hitting the healer posted in the hallway. You will be pulled into the fighting pit on opposite sides. I will then return to the middle and say “Ready”, “SET”, “START!”. When you hear "START!", you may immediately begin battle.
We will begin with the first round of mage fights, followed by the first round of warrior fights, followed by the second round of mage fights, and so on.

Drama at the -Y- Auction House
| Posted on Monday, January 18, 2010, 5:34 PM EST by Lady Lava (GreatLakes) |
. Drama at the -Y- Auction House
There was more than the excitement of a new location for the -Y- Guild Auction this past friday.
Zento, always a beautiful location with its ever blooming cherry blossom trees, could not match the beautiful people attending the event at the -Y- Guild Auction House.
The place was packed with -Y- members which is no big surprise as -Y-is one of the largest guilds on Great Lakes. It was the amount of patrons that attended which included, COCOPUFF, Hannah, Princess Amara, Uber Dork, Jason, Mercy, Lord Legend, Charlatan A, Lord Tiny Tim, Conspiracy Inc, Dolly Dagger, NaTe, natas, Hope, Lady Teanne, Rikku, Justice, Shinobi, A Silly Duckling, Rachet, Lady Kiara, T-HUNTER, Stephen Strange, Air Max, BriarRose, Lady Twoburntfouryou, Avis, Lord Colt, Sir Thomas, Sylance Raynes, Erhnam, Larry Laffer, Dry Lox, TossdSalads, MR POTATOE HEAD, Scarne, Clark and boni hami to name a few, that was impressive.
Not only were the patrons exposed to great items to bid on they were surrounded by seasonal decor......Valentines decor! It is less than a month away folks. On that note if anyone has thier plot decorated for Valentines or does in the near future please PM with with the location.

Savannah did her high speed auctioneering, it was fast and smooth. There was trivia as with most auctions but with a new twist. It was box trivia. For those that answered first and correctly they had three boxes to choose from, each with different amounts in them. Needless to say a lot of gold was given out.

Most memorable nights at the auction, any auction, have a bit of drama either for the sale amount of an item, a rare item or just plain old drama which -Y- had. The first upset of the evening was just outside the auction house. Some little devil released/summoned a Harbinger. It did little damage but some. I think I saw a few dead mounts. It was quickly removed as the auction house is in the city of Zento. The second bit of drama was from a patron by the name of Mace-Ya-Face. He started yelling nasty things about another one of the larger guilds on Great Lakes. They were not pretty words and he was removed quickly. It appeared as though he was trying to start a little conflict between -Y- and this other guild. Savannah and crew were having no part of this!

On the subject of Savannah and crew check out thier outfits. These girls really know how to spice things up. I look forward to another -Y- auction as I am sure others do to. Thank you for all the time and effort put into this event. |

Savannah/Temptress, the fastest auctioneer on Great Lakes
| Posted on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, 6:22 PM EST by Lady Lava (GreatLakes) |
. . Savannah/Temptress, the fastest auctioneer on Great Lakes
Auction fever seems to have hit Great Lakes and this friday 1/15/10 Savannah/Temptress will be showing her stuff. When I say stuff I mean her speed.
Any time this tempting gal plays auctioneer there is never a dull moment. The sheer number of items that come up during her events makes time fly even if you are not interested in many of the items. Many go to auctions for pure entertainment, others to purchase a certain or several certain items. The only negative I can see with this gals gavel is if one needs to use the powder room during the event. In the time you use the restroom and return several items may be up and sold so be prepared before for the long haul.

Gates will be provided at the Luna and Brit Banks before and during the auction. I hope to see you there. |

The Queen Invites You To A Formal Banquet

You recall hearing that Hercules is to be knighted. A reporter has been asking around about him, so you think you may be able to find an article about him in the next few days, somewhere or other (http://greatlakes.uoem.net/).
There's also a new Commander of the Royal Guard you'd like to meet. Where did you read about her? Oh yes, (http://greatlakes.uoem.net/?page_id=435).
With such diversity of folk in Britannia these days, mingling and listening to the adventures of others could also be quite interesting. You decide you shall go to the banquet, and rush to make ready your finery.

MOA back with a BANG and MEGA RARES !
| Posted on Sunday, January 10, 2010, 10:34 AM EST by Lady Lava (GreatLakes) |
. MOA back with a BANG and MEGA RARES !
MOA has returned after the holiday break going as strong as ever.
This past wednesday and thursday nights auction were well attended and everyone was glad that MOA is back and up and running. It seems as though the holiday break gave everyone the rest they needed.

I attended thursday nights auction and many of the regulars were in the house including Gem in her signature burgandy, Chelsee Lynn in purple and Rowen in his bright orange, yellow and blue outfit. Lee'Lee needed no bright outfit as her glowing yellow hair can be seen a mile away!
Gabriela and DJ Scorp did a great job as did the other MOA staff members. I sat surrounded by Khelban, niaC and Temptress, a nice group indeed.

56 Abysal cloth sold for 5.5 million, 11 mill for a skull pole and a battle chicken lizard egg for 10 million, to name a few of the items on the block. Trivia is always on the menu at MOA and REA donated some of the evenings gold give away.
As if these two nights of come back auction were not enough MOA hosted a RARES ONLY AUCTION saturday.
Pratt and I spoke during this rares only event via pigeon and we both claimed we had not seen this many people at the auction house in years. Even the annual holiday auction with Santa does not bring the house down like this did. People were sitting on each others laps to just fit in the building.

With the collection of rares being auctioned there had to be a few no sales and that included a rift pillar at 80 million, sugared fruit and a full rubble bed.

The lowest sale was 1.1 million and some others were 9, 10, 40, 41, 47, 70, 71, 100, 136, and 160......those are millions folks. The biggest sales were 340 million for a large statue and 410 million for a full set of halloweenie armor.
Illyana Strange had a few laggy moments and pauses but considering the task and crowd she had to deal with she did a excellent job as auctioneer, then again we take that for granted from MOA.

Today ( 1/10 ) is part two of this rares event at 2:00 pm cst. So if you missed yesterdays event you still have time to witness this history making event on Great Lakes.

[RP] Political Unrest Between High Council, High Court
| Posted on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, 4:34 PM EST by Phayde (GreatLakes) |
[Compassion Grove, Trammel] The 328th meeting of the High Council of Britannia began at 8:00 PM last evening with the now regular commentary about cows, a nod to Beauvina, candidate for the office of Chancellor of the High Council. "Why would there be a cattle herd in Council Chambers?" asked Max von Bayer, a former Chancellor himself.
Chancellor DaKaren began the meeting with belated seasons' greetings for those who had missed the previous session, and then moved straight into business. "As the realm has been mostly quiet recently with the Cult's [of Styx] demise," the Chancellor spoke, "we have been able to turn our attention to the growing concerns over the Temple of Mondain's encroachment into Yew."
Lord Polynikes of the Yew Militia reported on the Temple's activities, including the finding of a number of bodies within Yew. In addition, several boxes with unidentified remains have been left around, and Roland, a lumberjack from Yew, has been reported as being abducted by hooded men near the Yew Tower. "There have been reports of individuals dressed as Militia members, arresting citizens," Lord Polynikes added. Warrants will be issued and circulated as they are able to identify potential suspects.
High Justicar Ra'Dian Fl'Gith followed Lord Polynikes' report by asking why the High Council did not have a Grand Marshal. "The [Britannian Armed Forces are] empowered to select a leader from amongst their membership," Chancellor DaKaren explained. Justicar Fl'Gith seemed insistent that the B.A.F. needed decisive leadership. "Diplomacy is a wonderful thing," he responded, "Unless you're a military force."
Lady Beauvina immediately offered to set aside her bid for the Chancellor's office to serve as the leader of the armed forces. Councilor LikaThad Ale of Yew immediately replied, "They're looking for a leader of men, not a herder of cows." Xetaryn from the Cult of the Azure Dragons quickly challenged that notion. "Is there a difference between soldier and cattle?" The conversation took several turns, but ended with the nomination of Lord Polynikes to fill the role of Grand Marshal. After a quick vote, Lord Polynikes accepted the nomination, perhaps after prompting from Lord Galen, who stated, "May as well take it Poly... If you don't, I'll just run, and I've [ticked] enough people off as is."
Discussion then turned to the Majestic Ungulates’ inclusion in the Britannian Armed Forces, brought forth by Lady Beauvina. Beauvina noted that it the question of her organization in the armed forces had taken a long time, and the Council seemed to further dodge that question for the evening. Grand Marshal Polynikes asked that the discussion be completed post meeting with a number of leaders from the composite guilds of the armed forces. Chancellor DaKaren turned then to Minister Malag aste, who noted that the Yule Fest, which had been postponed, would likely be moved to February for a Valentine's Day celebration.
This was followed by Justicar Fl'Gith asking about changes that had been made to the High Court's operational charter by the High Council approximately eleven years previous. "Article Five of the High Council's charter indicates that the High Court shall maintain the Charter of the High Court, so consider the change redacted," he stated emphatically, which drew a quick response from Lady Martyna Z'muir. ""Maintain,'" she said, "does not imply sovereignty." Justicar Fl'Gith appeared to be annoyed by her response.
Very quickly, the meeting turned to a heated debate about this move by the High Court. "Surely you wouldn't question our rights as citizens to question the Justicar?" Lord Galen asked, indicating that he believed the Justicar had misinterpreted the word "maintain." Former Chancellor von Bayer also chimed in, noting, "The High Court of the time agreed with the amended Charter." He followed by stating that he felt it would not appear legal for the High Court at the discretion of any Justicar to redact the change.
Justicar Fl'Gith asserted that it was the High Court's place to do so, stating, "It certainly is in the jurisdiction of the High Court to maintain its own charter, and to correct legislative wrongs, regardless of who made them." Chancellor DaKaren responded, "This is what those measures were designed to prevent... One Justicar writing his own rules." The matter was tabled, though the Chancellor indicated he believed it was not over.
Lady Beauvina then inquired as to the status of the electoral proceedings for the office of Chancellor, which Chancellor DaKaren indicated would proceed with open applications for the office running through the next Council session (Jan. 18, 2010), to be followed with a debate session scheduled for the following Thursday (Jan. 21, 2010).
The Justicar appeared to have failed to notice mention of the applications, which started a new round of attacks on the Chancellor for failure to follow electoral procedure, and quickly devolved into further pointed statements being thrust between the two parties. Lady Beauvina seemed very amused by the disruption, while Lady Z'muir jumped to the defense of the Chancellor. Former Chancellor von Bayer tried, amid the shouting, to explain, "I wished to consolidate power in the Chancellorship and Council," but as he noted, no one appeared to be listening to him, save the eccentric Lady Beauvina. The Justicar then announced that the entire Fifth Constitution of Britannia would be under review at the High Court on Thursday evening, with the potential for it to be declared unconstitutional, reverting the High Council back to the structure of the Fourth Constitution. Chancellor DaKaren responded that his request for such a hearing was denied, which the High Justicar refused to acknowledge.
Chancellor DaKaren called for the removal of High Justicar Fl'Gith on the basis that he was attempting to push his own agenda via the High Court. High Justicar Fl'Gith returned with a call for removal of Chancellor DaKaren, claiming that Chancellor DaKaren had not been the same since his months of captivity by the rogue elements of the Order of the Silver Serpent, and had perhaps been corrupted to a Cascan way of thinking. Councilor LikaThad exclaimed, "I just received a pigeon that I'm needed elsewhere," and quickly vacated the chamber, leaving Minister of Foreign Affairs Malag aste to deal with the resulting fireworks. "I'll not vote without careful consideration,” the Minister stated.
"Well, Chancellor," Justicar Fl'Gith stated as he departed the heated chambers, "lest I am removed from office by Thursday, the hearing shall go forth." Minister Malag aste also noted that the Chancellor could adjourn the meeting, which Chancellor DaKaren did not seem to appreciate. The Minister’s final thought on the matter were soundly expressed. "I'll not cripple this Council."
The High Council of Britannia meets on alternating Mondays in Compassion Grove, and the High Court of Britannia (also in Compassion Grove) will hold session this Thursday at 8:00 PM CST to hear arguments with regard to the Fifth Royal Constitution of Britannia. Applications for the office of Chancellor will remain open until the next meeting of the High Council, with debates occurring the Thursday following. |

Lady Lava’s Annual Year End Letter
| Posted on Friday, January 1, 2010, 9:34 PM EST by Lady Lava (GreatLakes) |
Lady Lava’s Annual Year End Letter ~
Dear Citizens of Great Lakes,
It is that time of year, time to post my annual year end letter.
2009 was full of news good and bad. The gloved one met his maker, Adam Lambert and Susan Boyle made it big with their voices and looks, David Letterman and Tiger Woods played where they should not have, Chris Brown and Kayne West made national fools of themselves, then there was that teen that tattooed stars all over her face and America got a new president. These stories and many more made huge headlines but for us in the realm the big news was Stygian Abyss.
Stygian Abyss breathed new life and new lands into our world, not to mention new pixel crack. We waited a long time for this, too long but I am glad it is finally here. The team that worked on this huge expansion did a wonderful job and I thank them for it. The icing on this very large cake is the EM involvement that we have on our shard. The EM events and RP community made 2009 a very colorful year indeed.
The News Department of Great Lakes had two major casualties this year. Mystra who was a News Reporter and a MOD way before I came on board retired. Always supportive of the community and a fair moderator, Mystra is greatly missed by me and I am sure many others.
News Reporter, Martyna Zmuir also left the News Department in 2009. Her style of writing captured the true essence of the role play community, which she is still very active in. Her layouts and imagery were always top notch. Phayde, the newest member of the News team seems to have picked up where Martyna left off, with a very similar layout style and a fashion for the RP community. It is great to have him aboard !
For new readers, in this annual letter I give a mini update of my personal life. In much of my reporting I try to give a little sneak peek about the person behind the avatar. I am a firm believer that no matter how hard one may try to role play a character part of the real you seeps through.
My day job is in the medical field working for a plastic surgeon here in southern California. I am still writing for a local newspaper and still making art. Art has always been a huge part of my life. This past year I had work shown in California, Buenos Aires Argentina, Texas, New Zealand, Minnesota and Michigan. This included two solo exhibitions. 2010 will be much slower in the art department for me as I have three sculptures showing in Long Beach California later this month and two paintings in Paris France mid summer. That means more time in the realm and Great Lakes.
I would like to close by stating after all these years on Great Lakes I am still inspired and cherish the friends I have here. A great year to you all.
Fondly, Lady Lava
