 Feeding the Sea Dragons | |

Submitted by a Guest Writer - name withheld. The commendable cast of ‘sea dragon herders’ has fallen into a steady routine of feeding the mythical beasts once per day. The sea dragons have been on a steady diet of both deep and regular sea serpents. About a week’s time has passed since the methods on feeding had been mastered by the folks of Legends. Little has changed since the feedings began. All the recovered scales from both the Mythical Sea Dragons and the Bal’ Thrans have been accounted for and are in safe hands.  This evening we had not fed the dragons due to some other activities and happenings. It was late in the evening when a few of the followers of Legends had gathered to feed the dragons that some odd occurrences began to take place. It appears that Arius McNuge and I had been the only witnesses to the first of these two strange events. We had just finished slaying a regular sea serpent for the dragons to feast upon when an explosion of epic proportions, which appeared to have originated from one of the sea dragons, captured our attention. It was a massive explosion that made a big bang noise and spread several yards covering a large area. The explosion was bright blue in color, much like the color of the sea dragon’s scales. However, it did not seem to cause any harm to myself, Arius or the sea dragons. I have seen two large explosions in the past that resemble this one. The color was quite similar to the cloud of debris given off from a successful cast of the Armageddon spell. The size and appearance of the blast was identical to the type of blast seen coming from the Bal’ Thran, only this one did not do any damage. We can only assume that the blast was a result of the feeding but it is unknown at this time.  At nearly the same time of the blast another occurrence took place. Luxon Artisan had discovered that Armondo Pascal’s dog Franchesco was on the loose again and wandering the town of Jhelom. Several of Legends finest had gathered to identify the pup and track him as we suspected he may lead us to another clue. Unfortunately he just continued to wonder about and was last seen inside the Jhelom Armory.  We suspect that these two events are related but are not for certain. For now we must continue to feed the dragons regularly in hopes that soon there will be a young Mythical Sea Dragon amongst us. It has also been advised that the citizens of Legends keep a close eye on Franchesco, as we know he can pick up a trail and point his nose and us towards more clues involving the Mythical Sea Dragons. I encourage all to investigate further and submit any data recorded to the EM mail box. |

Mythical Sea Dragons
Submitted by a Guest Writer - name withheld. A second interrogation of the captive pirates led to the revealing of the creature known as the Mythical Sea Dragon. Believing the two occurrences to be linked, Armondo Pascal led a legion of Legends finest to the last known whereabouts of his missing dog Franchecsco. The pup managed to make it home safely but was definitely on to something. We picked up his trail on the docks of Vesper.  We set out to the sea to try to catch a glimpse of this so called ‘Mythical Sea Dragon’. Heading south from the Vesper docks we came upon a severely wounded creature we identified and confirmed as a Mythical Sea Dragon. The creature died from its wounds but shortly after two more of these creatures rose from the depths and made their presence known. As they moved towards Vesper we followed intently hoping to learn more.  The search party docked in Vesper and separated into a grand armada to seek out the dragons again. The task now at hand was to find, track and research these creatures. We managed to make contact with both sea dragons once again. One was located close to Vesper while the other seemed to be drifting towards Nujelm. Upon detection of each of the sea dragons, observation and testing began immediately to try to find out as much as possible about them. In physical appearance they looked very much like regular sea serpents except for the color. The creatures had vibrant bluish green scales. They also appeared to be completely harmless and have still shown no signs of aggression. It was difficult to say but they seemed to just be swimming adrift in any which direction. We tried several experiments on the serpents including an anatomic evaluation which failed to produce any useful evidence and decided the best thing was to put them together and keep them contained for long term observation and evaluation.  It took several hours to herd the sea dragons together and along the way we had to deal with some pesky serpents. One sea dragon required a long difficult effort to push him from the rivers of Vesper to the Island of Nujelm. There they were both secured into a small river inlet on the southwest side of the Island. They will be kept there for further studies. Many thanks are in order for the skillful boat captains that were able to maneuver the sea dragons into the mouth of the river and seal it off. 
 It has been told that these creatures bear magical scales of some great power but to what extent we do not know. There were many who were involved in the research thus far but there is still much to be discovered. If we wish to learn the valuable information of which the pirates have hinted then we need to muster the greatest minds and followers of Legends to step forward. |

| Mythical Sea Dragons II | |

Approximately four days after the first pirate interrogation and the containment of the mysterious Mythical Sea Dragons we’ve uncovered more valuable information and endured a lengthy battle. After securing the Sea Dragons on the SW side of Nujelm the community of Legends began to study and investigate these unknown creatures. The only significant info gathered appeared to be that the dragons seemed to be feeding on fish in their contained area. With nothing left to work with we turned our attention back to the captive pirates.
Armondo Pascal called for another public interrogation of the two captive pirates Mario and Markos. Much more of the pirates plan was revealed and it was discovered that one of the sea dragons was to be delivered by the pirate Irene to a location NW of Vesper. Armondo recalled slaying Irene which was confirmed by the admittance by the pirates that they were the only two remaining alive of the crew. The followers of Legends set off to investigate the area NW of vesper and we found ourselves in the location that Franchesco had sniffed out days before. The trail led us to a mountain path where a chase began and ended quickly in a cave. It appeared to be an Evil Mage but he disappeared into a hole in the cave before he was identified, shortly after a great battle ensued. Several different types of unknown Dragons began to spawn throughout the mountain pass. It is difficult to remember because of the heat of the battle but I recall around 5 Dragons all together. They all were in the Bal Thran family with at least four variations being encountered: Adolescent, Minion, Infant and regular Bal Thrans. The Bal Thran was the largest and most difficult to take down. The battle lasted several hours and in the end the beasts were slain. Their corpses turned up some scales although it is unclear if they were from the mythical sea dragons or off the Bal Thrans themselves. It has been reported that at least 3 Mythical Sea Dragon scales have been recovered but where when and how is unclear to me at this moment.
We then returned to the two captive pirates where we found a journal left by Marko outlining the pirate’s research and plans for the sea dragons. It was recorded that Markos was to gather the three remaining sea dragons, of which one he would give to Irene for the trade. The remaining two were to be taken to a place with plentiful food supply for safe keeping and breeding. The journal informed us that the sea dragons require two sea serpents a day to feed and stay healthy to spawn or breed. Also discovered was a journal left by Irene near the location of the battle with the Bal Thrans. This journal revealed the name of the evil mage as Lord Mordraith. Much is still unknown about the evil mage or the possible death or disappearance of Irene which Armondo seemed to think he had killed. What is known is that this mage has both great wealth and either great power and or influence over these Bal Thran Dragons. We also know that when we set out to see the sea dragons we came across an injured one that died, leaving only the two sea dragons. So if Irene is alive then she could have been responsible for the death of that first sea dragon we discovered, which could also mean that the meeting still took place between Irene and Mordraith.
We managed to herd two deep sea serpents to the mythical sea dragons but something unexpected occurred as we attempted to feed them. The serpents needed to be killed for the sea dragons to feed and the deep sea serpents appeared to have extra strength and required a lengthy battle before they were ready for the sea dragons to feast upon. There were sea dragon scales recovered from the corpses of the deep sea serpents. Possibly the close proximity of the serpents to the dragons was the cause for the boost in energy and strength but it is only a hypothesis. As of now we are attempting to keep the sea dragons fed waiting for a possible offspring as the pirates had foretold. Until then we will have to investigate with the clues we have which are the scales recovered and the information gathered on Lord Mordraith and Irene.

| a Fluffy Bunny Retires | |

 As posted earlier by Mentiras, a Fluffy Bunny will be hosting his final event this month. Each of his events has been a really fun time, but the Paintball game is definitely my very favorite!
Mark your calendar for the 21st at 9pm est and come on out for merriment and mayhem. Gates are always provided in Luna to the town of Ta'b'gnom and participants should come with empty packs and no clothes. (And because Fluffy doesn't care for goosebumps robes are always provided.) Everything you need will be given to you at the arena, no need to worry about your good stuff getting looted by those ebil PK'r types. Everyone remember to smile, too, since this will be filmed for posterity!
Also, you have until the end of the month to show off your event running skills for prizes and praises. Let's see what you can do! Drop a note to me here or holler for me ingame and I'll be sure to let everyone know about your event!

| Virtuebane Retreats! | |

 We gathered at Castle British at the appointed time and heard the words of Xavier Bradddock. In the past months our towns have been plagued by the invasion of sinister armies, striking and leaving quickly. Behind all this has been Virtuebane, and his intent was control of the lands of Sosaria. His means of control, other than the citizens' fear of his dark forces, was the Crystal of Duplicity with which he could create endless copies of his powerful form. However, strong as he was, there was a weakness he could not overcome, which was explained by Braddock:
"Even tho the Ricardo you saw on the way here to the castle my seem mad and insane, he has a good plan even tho it may seem..... different. Legends have been told of how the Virtuebane have been defeated before. Simple peasants throwing rubbish, garbage, even dung in the face of such evil. Humiliating the Virtuebane to the point he had no choice but to flee."
So, with dragons in tow and pies in hand, we headed to the seat of Humility, the island of Magencia. What greeted us there was a herd of Virtuebane duplicates along with their pets, Ancient Hellhounds. The battle that followed was long and deadly, with much lamenting about the number of deathrobes cluttering backpacks. A saving grace amidst all the horror was the appearance of the meer eternals and ethereal warriors fighting alongside us and rezzing us when needed.
At last the real Virtuebane was identified and efforts concentrated on bringing him down. His might and healing powers proved too strong for our efforts and we did little damage with weapons and beasts. Braddock sang out "Throw your pies!" and at once the mighty horror began to howl. The pies worked! "Herd him toward the black gate!" Braddock cried. Virtuebane, cowering in the flight of pies being hurled at him, retreated in the direction of the black altar and gate and finally lost hope of recovering his dignity and vanished, but not before screaming "You've not seen the last of me!".
Many of us had collected tiny pieces of the shattered Crystal of Duplicity which Braddock then asked be put into a container sitting there at the altar. Once they had been gathered a spell was cast and the dark gate destroyed that Virtuebane would be locked in whatever foul place he had gone into.
"Our work is not yet finished" said Braddock, "Follow me!" and he dashed off to the southern end of the island. Burned grasses formed a codex of sorts on which Braddock placed the small box containing the crystal shards and we watched as the box sunk into the earth. "There seem to be instructions attached to this sign" said Braddock. "Yes, they are coordinates!"
Xavier Braddock studied the coordinates and opened a gate and the weary fighters went thru it to find themselves in a lovely, peaceful hollow hidden in the rocky crags surrounding the valley of Ilshenar. In the hollow was a lone statue which granted the victors shining gold gauntlets.

| Are We Without Leadership? | |

Tonight we witnessed the treachery of Virtue Bane first hand! The citizenry awoke to a lighted lanturn, signaling a request by the Queen to attend an important meeting. When the time came, and everyone was gathered in the Throne Room, Dawn appeared with dire news. The forces of Virtue Bane, and ideed the demon Virtue Bane himself, have been rampaging the towns of Britania. The attacks getting more and more vicious as the weeks went by, the Queen feared we would soon begin losing town after town unless something was done. The plan was to imbue Dawn's sword with the virtue of Humility, which in theory would allow Dawn to attack Virtue Bane. To make matters worse, Dawn also believed that her husband, Ors, had been kidnapped by Virtue Bane. The crowd was transported to the Humility Shrine in Ilshenar. Where the Queen preformed a ritual, imbuing her sword with the Humility Virtue. No sooner had the finished the ritual, than her missing husband Ors, stumbled onto the scene. Everyone could tell there was something not right about Ors, except for the Queen... Despite warnings from the crowd, the Queen moved within arms reach of Ors, and that is when he stabbed her with a poisoned dagger. The instant this task was done, the spell over Ors subsided, and he broke down, understandably totally unconsoleable. The demon Virtue Bane then came to gloat, and retrieve the imbued sword. However... the sword had been secreted away. In a rage, he summoned an army of demons, and Blackrock Golems. Which the citizens of Legends beat back without breaking a sweat. When fighting subsided Lt. Braddock solemly lifted the queens body, and carried her back to the castle where a monument was errected in the courtyard in her honor. The only questions now on everyone's mind is who do we look to now for leadership, and how are we going to get rid of the demon Virtue bane. |

Your character must be red. Its a one vs one tournament, any class, any spec (except tamers, sorry thats not 1v1). You are allowed any items you would use in the field. The winner gets a unique bracelet that I picked up at raresfest. "Whoever holds this is the Pk God!" Which is why you have to be red to compete. January's Battle Chicken Lizard Tournament while sparsely attended proved to be interesting non the less. There were only two competitors this time, Lady Alice Wonderland, and the champ, Hunter S Tompson. It was decided that since there were no other challenges to his reign as Overlord of Battle Chickendom, that their match would be a best of three. The first fight was a remarkable one, with Lady Alice's chicken, a Um from Umbridge barely edging out Hunter's, The Great Melinko. The second round was a surprising repeat of the first round! Everyone in attendance expected the match to go at least the full threee rounds. It appears that the Great Melinko has finally met his match in the lime green body of a Um from Umbridge. A new twist however was introduced this month. The champion of the month will decide what type of pets will be fighting in the following month. This month's champion Alice, made the suggestion that we fight Leather Wolves, with a backup suggestion of Sheep! Confirmation of which will be the selected animal will be provided as soon as its available. After the tournament was over and the prize was awarded, we played a new game of Rat Wrangling. Everyone piled into the arena and on the word GO! attempted to tame as many rats as they could. The Champion Rat Wrangler for this month was Keeper of Dragons, who should take the name Keeper of Rats now as he managed to tame five (5) rats in the final round! |

| Murder in Ta'b'gnom | |

They gathered on the front lawn, unsure of what had transpired in the house before them. The Butler had the smile of a Cheshire cat as he greeted them warmly. When four of them had gathered..... Draco the Mule, Chesty McChest, Lord Urza and Ynise Amandil..... the Butler began a tale of murder. Someone had committed the act in the house, and it was one of the four! He told them that it had been put upon themselves to discover which of the troop was the murderer and each were given a small bag containing evidence that had been gathered.
Room by room they went, observing everything and, on occasion, making accusations of one another! The evidence bags exonerated each person until they reached the sitting room. Chesty and Ynise were inching their way towards the bedroom to begin questioning suspects there when Ynise turned, pointed a finger and said "Draco, was it you in this sitting room with a rusty iron key?" One by one the guests were queried and none could refute the claim with hard evidence. Draco was caught!
After the game we all went out to admire the recently erected Town Banner. It is a wonderful design and if you have not yet, please read the story of the The Settlement of Ta'b'gnom.

| Pitfights, Leathal To The Audience... | |

Tonight the people of Legends were treated to a display worthy of The Great Colosseum. From all around the realm, teams of up to four companions entered the Legends Pitfight Event. The rules as explained to us by Malakei the Pitboss were fairly straight forward; Enter the Arena when it is your turn, Kill whatever Horace the Beastmaster decides to throw at your team, if you survive you win, if not... Horace's pets are in need of heartier foods anyway. Tonight we saw a grand total of thirteen teams compete. Not a single team failed to defeat the monsters summoned before them. No death robes were handed out tonight, much to the sorrw of Horace and his horde of beasts. The Jhelom arena may be great for fighting, but the one thing it is not great for is picture taking. Heres a breakdown of tonights fights, with pictures if I was able to take one that was halfway decent. Team #1 Luc, Whitebone, Jiriel, Light X This team fought a Putrid Undead Pitwing Team #2 Fenix, Aang, TIME STEED, SeXyTaXi This team fought Moloch the Cruel & his Minion (a putrefyer)  Team #3 Sora, Lord Ghetto Smurf, Abramelihm, Jorde This team fought The Maddening Horror & a Darkfate Elemental *AWARD* This team also wins the award for the most kills in a single fight. The Darkfate Elemental had a wicked aoe which killed almost eveyone on the Jhelom Pits catwalk. You can see all the bodies, bones, and deathrobes.  Team #4 Powder, Pi'z, Black Ajah, Ba'alzoman This team foight a Valorite Elemental Guardian & a Crystal Elemental Guardian Team #5 Tarzan, Help, Old Lady, Prince Christian This team fought a Dune Beetle & a Guile (changeling) Team #6 Casper, Hawk Eye, Lord Wong Way Ya This team fought The Collector of Souls & a Chaos Demon Team #7 Riel, Lirael, aoLOLita, Lady DebconLady This team fought a Rotten Cadaver, Malik, & an undead gargoyle  Team #8 Mentiras, Draconis Gargoli, Thugnificent, Q-TAME This team fought two Fire Deamons & an Ice Fiend  Team #9 Mr. ELITE, Betrayer, Neraka, THEOKOLES This team fought a Skeletal Dragon and hordes of minor undead Team #10 Dead Meat, Jaana, matty, Creatine This team fought a Dragon, Reptalon, & an Ancient Wyrm *Disqualified* Team #11 Dummy, Lord Crazy Little Elf This team fought Trapdoor Spiders & Whipper Vines Team #12 Sunlaira, Poppy, Damia, Lord Roderick This team fought a Crystal Elemental, a Blood Elemental, & an Acid Elemental Team #13 Lyric, Rire Grist, El DaNgEl, DruNk MeL GiBsOn This team fought a Devourer of Souls & a Succubus Finally after all the initial rounds of monster mayham were completed, Malakei announced who would be facing tonights "Champion" The first team selected had retired, due to the lateness of the hour, but the second draw was Team #9. Team ELITE. They were once again let back inside the arena to face the champion. However the champion proved a little to much for its handlers and a backup champion was brought in. This Crimson Dragon ran wild thru the arena and had to be sedated This Tormented Minotaur was our backup Champion, and it was quite a handful The Tormented Minotaur was brought down, not once, but twice. Each time the "Hero" of the fight was the dragon "a greater wed" The Champions were each awarded, a commemorative breastplate, and all the other teams were awarded commemorative tunics. |

Tonight an unusually large group of players shed their clothes and went for a naked run thru dungeon Hytholyth! Whatever warped mind came up with this concept, the attendees did seem to enjoy themselves as they doged and dived away from the many, many, hostile inhabitants of the dungeon. Aside from a brief, unwelcomed interruption at the onset of the event, everything went smoothly... by this I mean most people collected thirty or so death robes before the end of the night. When all was said and done, the first four people to make it from the first to the very bottom floor of the dungeon were: - Godrick - Grand Prize Winner

| The Mystic City Receives Recognition | |

The Mystic City, which surrounds and protects Zento, the lovely capital of Tokuno, was recently granted recognition by Killian, the Royal Ambassador of Queen Dawn.
A banner was constructed this past week, the very first of it's kind on Legends, proclaiming The Mystic City a town, with all the rights and privileges of such. The Mystic City has earned this honor not only with a good number of player houses comprising a town, but also with many player activities which are always open to everyone.
Head engineer for the construction project was Mesanna, with EM Helios and EM Ikaris providing support. The banner reads Welcome to The Mystic City, Established 12/31/2010. The crystal on pedestal reads "Protectors of the Empress & Allies to Britannia". The lovely pixie atop the banner is dedicated to Lady Damia, the driving force behind The Mystic Circle guild.
The town banner was designed by Mr Crowley of the TMC guild. Tonight, surrounded by friends and allies, the Town Banner was dedicated. Complimentary robes, supplied by Country Bumkin, made for a nice picture.
Congratulations to everyone in The Mystic City on your grand achievement!

It is with great sadness that I inform the populace that Legends will not be holding a massive pvp tournament on the first weekend on January. There has not been nearly enough interest (4 official entries so far) to warrant the amount of time and resources I was planning on putting into the event. I apologize to anyone who may have been considering attending.

This will be a mothly article, and it will list all the player run events on Legends shard scheduled for the month. It will be updated constantly so check back here often if you are interested in attending player run events. Thank you, and thank you to everyone who has already donated.  anuary's Player Run Events: (January 1st - 9th) Date: Saturday, January 8th, 2011 (1/8/11) Event: Naked Hythloth Dungeon Run Location: Hythloth Dungeon Trammel Time: 9pm EST Host: Mentiras Third time's the charm... hopefully. Same setup as with our Paintball event. Come naked and with nothing in your pack. Once everyone is gathered at the entrance to the dungeon, and everyone has been snooped. You will be told to "GO", the first person to make it thru 3 checkpoints alive and wind up at the bottom of the dungeon wins the goody bag. There will be surprises planned, and hidden... Keep your eyes open. Rules: * No healing of any sort * No hiding/stealthing * Have fun (January 10th - 16th) Date: Saturday, January 15th, 2011 (1/15/11) Event: Find Fluffy 4 Location: ? Time: 9:00pm EST Host: a Fluffy Bunny On the above date, I will post a screen shot of me at a random place, the first person to find me, wins. For FF4 I am changing it up a little bit, I will place a screen shotup still, but I will also offer a riddle in general chat, and I won't necessarily be in Fel. Date: Sunday, January 16th, 2011 (1/16/11) Event: Bear Hunt Location: Arena Time: 9:00pm EST Host: Mentiras For anyone that has played the classic game where you shoot the bear and he walks back and forth, you may already get where this is going... For those that don't; on the above date meet in luna with a new character with 50 archery, gates will be provided to the arena. The objective is to make the "bear" walk out the same side of the arena that he enters. If you cannot, at least hold him in the arena for as long as possible. (January 17th - 23rd) Date: Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 (1/22/11) Event: Paintball! Location: Shadow's *NEW* Paintball Arena (gates provided) Time: 9pm - ? Host: Shadow Come naked and with nothing in your pack, you will be given a bag of 50 explosion potions and seperated into two teams, red and blue. Last man standing's team wins. Advantages that you may want to take note of are: Alchemy and Resist Spells. Overall this is just for fun. Date: Sunday, January 23rd, 2011 (1/23/11) Event: Living Snake Location: Arena Time: 9pm EST Host: Mentiras For those interested, meet at Luna bank at the appropriate time, gates will be provided. Once everyone is at the arena you will all be handed a bag containing 25 crates. Two people at a time will then try and box each other in, the winner being the one with the most "leg room". (January 24th - 31st) Date: Saturday, January 29th, 2011 (1/29/11) Event: Clue! Location: Gates will be provided Time: 9pm EST Host: Mentiras The settlement has been made official! We have recieved our banner and are holding opening ceremonies with a game of Clue! For those unfamiliar with the game, it is a murder mystery, players will have to figure out who the murderer is, while said murderer tries and misleads them. If deemed worthy the mongbat king may even show up... hes always looking for new subjects... |
