Zoo Taming Hour, Sponsored by BRPA
Sunday, November 29

Proserpina, a non-tamer, was on hand to record the names of those participating and the number of points being added to the Zoo donation box.

Lil Debi [M!S] and DixieLoneStar [M!S], were sighted taming before the hour began as they had to leave before Taming Hour would end.  Thank you to both for your diligence in helping maintain the Zoo.

The second week of the BRPA Zoo Taming Hour started with the Zoo on tier 10, with 10,118,613 points on the donation box, and ended at 10,377,311 points 258,698 points gained through turn-ins and gold donations. There are still a lot of points to be earned before Baja's Silver Steed returns to Zoo (Tier 11).

Taming Hour Participants were:
Kat MacBroeden [DWN]
Shayla Keylley [DWN]
Sally [C@S]
Lady Luna Tic [TAO]
Pol the Shepherd
Lil Debi [M!S]
James [MT]
DixieLoneStar [M!S]
Proserpina [K T]

Pol the Shepherd tamed and turned in wolves the good shepherdess found roaming near the Zoo, sometimes having to coax the wolves into the Donation Box.

Throughout the hour, Proserpina encouraged the tamers her with her cheers and dread pom poms ...

Kat MacBroeden announced there will be prizes awarded for achieving certain goals during the Taming Hours with her mysterious statement: 'There WILL be prizes given out along with way to Tier 11 when certain goals are reached, but I'm  not telling what the goals are.' *winks*

Next Taming Hour, Sunday, December 6, 8pm Pacific (9pm Mountain, 10pm Central, 11pm Eastern.

If you would like to help support the Zoo but can not make it to the Zoo Taming Hour, please contact WildStar [DWN] or Sara [TAO]. Maya Demeter asks for the citizens help to once again fight for science.

Word has reached her from Queen Dawn that there are mutant turkeys roaming the land. Maya has been asked to collect samples from these beasts and take them back to Ter Mer to compare to the samples collected before along the water.

Maya has requested the citizens help to assist her in collecting these samples one again.

This is a battle situation. Please bring the appropriate armor, weapons, regs, whatever it is you need to fight and kill these abominations.

>>> Trammel Facet News <<<ATLANTIC--Since its founding over a decade ago, the Yew Town Council has served as a bastion for like-minded players who seek to provide just and stable governance to the city of Yew. The Council has scheduled a Town Hall meeting to be held on Thursday, 3 December 2009 at 9:00 PM EST. The meeting will convene at Empathy Abbey within the Trammel facet. According to the Council’s announcement, the known details of this event are as follows:

It has been many years since the original appointed council has held its meetings within the Town of Yew. This is an open council and anyone who lives within Yew or wishes to better the town of Yew is invited to attend. There is a long, rich history of this council and it has had many guilds that were a part of it over its history. Role Play is not a must, but this is a town council and you are representing everyone who is a part of the project, including yourself and we ask that you be respectful. All you need to do is register as a citizen of Yew on these forums if you wish to apply for a position. We shall hold this [meeting] Thursday, 9 eastern standard time in the Empathy Abbey on the Trammel side at this time. In the past, we used to meet in our Town Hall in Felucca.

This [information] is out of date currently, but it does list the old councils of the lands. If anyone has updated information of any of these councils, please contact Stratics.

High Seas Gauntlet and Maze

After filling our bellies with all the yummy food from Thanksgiving, it’s time to exercise off those extra holiday pounds before we once again indulge in all the goodies of Christmas! And what better way to get a good aerobic workout than finding your way through a floating maze? Meet EM Faine Morgan on Wednesday, December 2nd at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific for some fun (and exercise) on the high seas. Complete details of this event will provided once everyone has gathered. Please be on time. This is one adventure you won’t want to miss!

Donal’s Magical Mutant Christmas Tree Experiment

On December 12th meet Taryn Sullivan at the Britain Counselor’s Hall to hear the latest on Donal the Monk’s experiments with the local flora and fauna. Donal has been deep in study with the Gargoyles and has found some interesting references to formulas that extend the life of Christmas trees as well as multiply the harvest time and yield for crops. Taryn will be at the Britain Counselor’s Hall at 10 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Pacific to give the citizens a status update on the fruits of his labors. Taryn will lead the players as they meet with Donal to see first hand the wondrous results of the new formula. Surely nothing catastrophic could happen right?

Christmas Candlelight Tour of Houses

On Sunday, December 20th, EM Faine Morgan will lead the players on a tour of the houses submitted in the Winter Wonderland House Deco Contest. The tour will leave from the Britain Counselor’s Guild at 9 p.m. Eastern/6 p.m. Pacific and will include Christmas caroling as well as snacks along the way. To help us get in the mood of the season, players should bring along a candle to carry. At the end of the tour, the winning house will be announced as voted by the Event Moderators of Ultima Online.

West Britain Bank Comes Alive For An Evening
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Sunday, November 29, 2009, 9:35 AM EST by Sara of Baja (Baja)

The evening started with EM Seppo placing vendor tables along the river bank near West Britain Bank.  Goibhniu was kind enough to furnish the vendors with boxes on each table.

The streets soon started to fill up with vendors and shoppers.

Someone was kind enough to give little Billy Scrantin a pony!  Being a very young lad, Billy alternated between selling  fresh produce and  racing his new pony up and down the street.

Bucko the Kid was on hand selling arrows and bolts. I did notice that after every sale, Bucko would sneak over to where Girl Scout Marqi was selling Girl Scout Cookies!

Corporal Brackus was seen running in excitement over being given a slab of bacon.

Many familiar faces appeared throughout the evening.

As the evening was winding down, a Town Official made an appearance trying to collect taxes:

As Bucko the Kid and Billy Scrantin are underage, they are not required to purchase permits even though the Town Official wants to argue that Billy should be required to have one as he is sent by his parents to peddle his wares. WildStar proved to be exempt from the tax as she was filling spellbooks at no charge. The Zoo raffle sales were also excluded from taxing as that is a promotion for a non-profit organization.  The Town Official even tried to impose a 'Death Tax' on those who had died within the city during the past month! Ultimately he had to leave empty handed as no one there met the criteria for taxing. Before leaving the area, the official left a copy of the the Sales Permits law:

Sales Permits By Eliar and Elias

This document, article 54138.22b-1, has been prepared for citizens who are interested in selling wares within the city of Britain.

Let it be know that any and all merchants plying their trade in the town of Britain are expected to register for the proper sales permit with the town officials.  All sales are subjected to the standard sales use tax rate enacted by writ town law. Continued sales without a proper permit may be subject to fines, and in extreme cases, possible arrest and jail time.  These writ laws were enacted during the rule of King Casca and will continue to be enforced until Queen Dawn, or a representative of the Crown, repeals the requirements of proper sales permits.

Please seek out town officials, Elias or Eliar, to obtain the appropriate permit for the small cost of 15 gold pieces.

Currently operating without a proper permit: 1. Billy Scrantin 2. Fain

Signed, Town officials, Elias and Eliar

All proceeds will be donated to the Royal Zoo at Moonglow. Drawing for the winners will be December 15.  If you would like to purchase raffle tickets, see me in game, or you can contact me here on the forum.

Sin's First Trip Into The Trenches!
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Saturday, November 28, 2009, 11:39 PM EST by Salya Sin (NapaValley)
>>> Felucca Facet News <<<Tonight I took my first trip into Felucca to test out my reporting skills. Contain your shudders fellow non-PvPers. It wasn't anything like I thought it would be. The Faction and PvP members in tonight's adventure were both friendly and courteous! Aside from one small, tiny trip into the gray screen of death, I had an amazing time running around watching, attempting to keep track of who was battling who, and taking a rather weird set of screenshots. Though an unpredictable bunch, hence the weird screenshots, (I wish I could say "Nobody move! Hold that Flamestrike!), it was a learning experience. I give you the following, somewhat newbie-fied report of what I saw.

The early battle seemed to consist of a brief skirmish between Book Master and Solamon Kain both of Quantum Realm [neither is factions, proclaimed Mercs, freelancers] against Digital Bullets from LOAO [CoM]. Digi, as he was called, indeed bit the bullet but a few squares from sanctuary. Even worse, upon returning to his corpse, he was again felled by an unknown caster, this time falling into his house. At least his corpse was safe, though his poor pony stood trapped out in the elements.

The busiest battle of the night was to follow. Locsta from HIV [TB] against Book Master and Solamon Kain, now joined by Shadow of Death and WarMage of HWM [MIN]... Locsta called out all in challenge, "Come get some all of you." Which promptly became a 4 on 1 battle that spanned most of Yew. He seemed to do rather well against the odds... I got lost trying to stay with them and had to recall back to the Yew gate... apparently you must be GM running and turning and twisting and rounding to PvP. Now I get it. Alas, no deaths to report here as I missed the end of the battle due to my timeless sense of direction.

There was one amazing moment this eventful evening. Waylander from LOAO [CoM] and Shadow of Death from HWM [MIN] paired off. At one point during this long battle, Waylander ended up fielded in (not just a little fielding) by an HWM house... WOW.. and survived.. I was informed it was a GO TEAM moment! These two battled off and on for some time... both parties died but I was unclear if it was to each other... or other Faction mates stepping in. Though I did catch Shadow of Death looting Waylander. All I know is GO WAYLANDER AND CREW for the awesome survival in that field trick! You had props from more than just me for that impressive feat. Whats a little gray screen when compared to that?

As the battle moved up a screen, Scorpy of HWM [MIN] set fields a plenty and sent several new arriving opponents into a poisoned scramble. Any deaths on that? None that I saw... but it may have been a deciding factor in A Dog's [CoM] death to Shadow of Death [MIN] a screen away. Though Capn Cracker [CoM] made up for it by nailing down Shadow of Death [MIN] and Solamon Kain shortly after. Then the kicker... just to be clear on credit... that lovely peach from CoM furthered his murder spree and offed the lowly reporter (myself) who made the mistake of asking, "Did you do that?" No one pleads the 5th anymore...

A few new comers from SL sealed Lothario's from LOAO [CoM] fate, though I am unclear on the specific axer here. Their guild, aptly named 2010, rolled in and manned up, if not a bit early. It is still 2009, yes? Perhaps they are getting a head start. At the site, both Desperado and Multani Swift were there for the looting. Poor Lothario... did he see it coming?

To top the evening, poor Ella Enchanted of THR, though not factions, did bravely join the fray. She's earned tonight's "Sin's most spotted corpse!" award. Her greater dragon helped little with this crowd!

Montezuma's [SL] corpse was spotted stripped and barren, along with Harry of LOAO [CoM], though I did spot Book Master looting following Harry's demise. WarMage [MIN] lay in death for quite some time before the soil reclaimed him with no murderer in sight. Darkwing Duck of LOAO [CoM] fell to Book Master, who was again caught mid-loot. A few minutes later, Darkwing was again found sprawled but to another suspect. I blame Air Head from KOS, who was conveniently caught near the body. BeDin from LOAO [CoM] was spotted both as a spectre and as a naked angel on the ground along with Air Head, whose life was lost somewhere farther up in a rather fast moving battle. BeDin, Air Head... die in front of me guys, it helps.

The most humorous event of the evening? Watching a ghostly chat between Shadow of Death [MIN] and my would be assassin, Capn Cracker [CoM]. I'm not sure what two dead enemies have to say to one another, but I bet it was colorful!

For those who battled before and after my arrival, or those who battled while I was ridiculously running to catch up, I'm sorry I missed it. For the deaths that were not covered, I'll catch it next time. If I misquoted or misunderstood... what can I say? I'm new to this PvP thing and the ebbs and flows are a bit difficult to follow. Fret not... I'll return to try again soon. I hope all of you had as much fun as I did! And thanks to all who did not slaughter me! Screenshots really are better in color! You all rock!

A simple hello!

Posted on Saturday, November 28, 2009, 11:43 AM EST by Salya Sin (NapaValley)
Greetings fellow Napa Valley-ens,

It was requested that I start my glorious reporting career with an introduction, though having a new reporter is perhaps exciting to some, to me... well... I'm THRILLED! I have played exclusively on Napa for over 6 years and watched it change many times over. New players, new content, new reactions from old players in regards to new players and new content. Salya Sin is my greatest accomplishment in this game... a tamer. Pink hair, silverish and black costume... you'll know me better by my obsessive use of the death robe! And truly, it took the full 6 years to make Miss Sin usable. ~shudders at the memory~ Though I often use my tried and true dexer or mage, as I tend to live longer on them. Although there is NOTHING that will help my lack of PvP talent. I am the worst PvPer in this game... half the time I forget the little things, like arming myself after recalling in. So PvM is exclusively my play style and Trammel is where I spend most of my time.

I am a daily (almost) Stratics participant, sometimes compulsively reading each new post regardless of the thread, poster, or forum it was posted in. I can honestly say that I know way too much about this game and for the amount of time I spend playing, this information has in no way aided me in my daily life. There will be no "Everything I learned about life, I learned playing UO!" For me, this game is about escape. It's play, it's pretend, it's fantasy. It's being a kid again at 32 years old, where I can slay dragons, ride a Unicorn, and play house without the RL bills and necessities... like toilet paper (which I inevitably forget and have to make a second trip to the store). This game is an amazing mix of people from all over the world and I am often amazed when I find out I have spent the last 6 hours slaying something with someone as far away as Japan.

Introduction aside, I love Napa. We have some of the most incredible personalities on this shard. The most friendly and courteous players and honestly, our forums lack the usual drama. Our posters seem to avoid the mud slinging and rudeness of the others (for the most part), perhaps it's that our Mods are really on top of things, but I believe it is just the players that Napa attracts. I always find myself laughing... smiling... amused.

With the new content and the EM run events we have more and more going on in our shard. I make it a point to participate in as many as I can and for my guild, I posted stories, recaps, and images on our guild forum. Reporting isn't new to me in that respect and writing is something I have done for more than 20 years. I am very excited to join the Stratics staff as a reporter for the shard that I love and hope that all of you will bear with me while I learn the ropes... may take me moment... or two.

That said... if there is anything at all that Napa would like to see or read (I saw one request for an Obituary which sounds like fun!), feel free to let me know. I am here to inform and more so, to add to your entertainment.

Best gaming wishes,
Salya Sin

From UO Rares Collector Forum 'ANNOUNCEMENT' by Manticore

Next Tuesday, December 1st after the 7:30 am Central - server up on Baja, the grand opening of the Smithsonian Museums will take place.

Shard = Baja
Location = First three houses East Exit of Umbra City

Museums:
Smithsonian - West Wing (Manticore)
Smithsonian - East Wing (Lineman)
Smithsonian - South Wing (Laina)

All three of us have been working hard to make this a great experience for you.

To complete this tour, if you go back to Umbra and take the west exit, immediately on your right is the Lord and Lady Courage's Museum filled with many Baja Seer Items dated between 1997-1999.

In addition, if you hop back into the gate and head to Luna, there are two houses on each side of the east exit, one is owned by Jinx (many Baja specific items and other things of interests) and the other is the rubble house (The entire house is made of rubbles except for the bulletin board).

So come spend an hour or two visiting these places and get a peek from the past to present.

Gargoyle Protest!!

‘All like-minded people are hereby encouraged to gather in Queen Dawn’s throne room on the Trammel facet to stand up, be heard, and voice your outrage, at her majesty’s ill-advised decision to ally with Queen Zhah and her filthy gargoyle horde!

It is of utmost importance that we convince Queen Dawn of her misguided policies and demand that she send those horrific, disgusting, winged creatures back from whence they came, by force if necessary! We cannot, under any circumstances, give these gargoyles any opportunity to forever enslave the good people of Britannia for their dastardly and malicious schemes, nor give them the chance to taint the pure blood of our races!

Send the gargoyles back home before it is too late!!

from EM Faine Morgan

Happy Thanksgiving, Origin!!!!!

Good news! I have the EM website (mostly) back up and running. There are few things I still need to test/tweak but it's mostly there with all the history.

The url did have to change. It's http://emfainemorgan.com/blog (no www in front). I'll get some answers up on the Player Run Town questions I'm seeing and possibly open up a page to allow people to post questions directly on it.

EM Faine Morgan is hoping the site will be fully back to normal by the weekend.

Court Documents Revealed!

>>> Trammel Facet News <<<

Last Evening the Court of Yew was the back drop for what some residents are calling "The biggest case since Ricardo!" The proceedings were slated for Eight O'clock by the Eastern Sun, and by the time I had arrived seating was being issued and the jury had already found it's place, the trial was set to begin.

Escorted by a Bailiff, Owen Uther was seated next to his defense attorney Ms.Freeman, opposite of the two Judge Locke was assaulted by a coughing fit but, none the less, called the court to order. The Royal Prosecutor, Jane Cuffington, made her intentions clear, claiming that Owen Uther has in fact murdered Jes, and through extortion attempted to concealed the crime.

Witnesses were called and questions in the following order, Nana the Sweet, the daughter of the local baker who was to wed the murdered Jes in just a few short months. Sara Uther, wife of Own Uther, who became emotional during the hearing and was dismissed. During all of this I noted a familiar face, Sup Soc, scribbling away on a small desk set off to the side.

The third witness called was Father Alexander of Empath Abbey, little did the gathering know the monk carried the powder keg that would set the court room ablaze!

Father Alexander claimed that Owen Uther had strangled Jes for absconding with his prized sword, of which Alexander had intimate knowledge, having blessed it the night of Minax's invasion of Yew! The plot furthered thickened as Father Alexander was cross examined by one Ms.Freeman, claiming that Father Alexander's revelation was fueled by a sincere wish to discredit Owen and prevent him from using the Abbey for uses the monk's did not approve of.

With an almost smug grin the Father inform the court that Owen had recently falling into the ranks of the Priests of Mondain!! Strolling away from the Judge the room exploding into a rabble culminating in one Owen Uther being called to the stand!

Like a beast unchained Owen made it clear his superiority and innocence, to such a degree that Magistrate Locke had the bailiff remove him in chains, as closing statements were made, the vaulted metal doors of the court flew from their hinges and a tall green orc bearing the markings of the local tribe set his beady eyes on the gathering.

One juror comment "Why would an innocent man run?"<.i>, another juror rebutted "Why would an innocent man go to jail?" The witty banter and even the jury's ruling was interrupted by an extended bout of combat with an Orcish Horde.

Facts are vague at this point, but one could be sure Yew will have no shortage of whispers this day! Look for witness reports on the Orc attacks soon!

Rules and Regulations Regarding Teleporters and Banners
by Kasaven

First, regarding recognition from the crown, these are the general labels placed on towns in respect to the number of homes within them.

1-4 Establishment

5-10 Village/Hamlet
11-20 Town
21-30 City
31-50 Kingdom/Empire/City-State

There must be a way to confirm that each home is part of the player run establishment, be it color-coded house signs, banners, establishments purpose within the town, and so on.

All recognized townships will need to petition the crown, regardless of their location. Even Ter Mur, for instance, as the crown will be the one granting the recognition. The crown also requires a town to state where its allegiance lies, with the crown, against the crown, or neutral. This will not effect teleporters or banners, this will give the crown an idea of how to interact with said town. (strictly RP/event purposes)

Those who wish to have a teleporter tile, along with their banner, at the fairgrounds, must be recommended by another township or player. You can do so by requesting a conference with the crown (Owain or Dawn, whichever is available, Owain having the authority by way of being part of the Queen’s Council). To Request a conference, place a message in the mailbox at the EM Wedding Office, or send feedback via the Event Website or email.

See regulations for banners in the book on top of the mailbox at the EM Wedding Office. Towns that wish to have banners at the fairgrounds are not required to also have teleporters.

Event books can be placed under your fairgrounds banner by the EM if given to him in a timely fashion or placed in the EM Wedding Office mailbox. Try to do so at least a week before your event(s).

Thanks to Chesapeake’s EMs, Mesanna, and those who took part in meetings on both shards for making all of this possible.

November 22nd Shard-Wide Meeting with EMs and UO Developer Mesanna Transcript
Return to TopSubmit News!
Posted on Monday, November 23, 2009, 9:55 PM EST by Vallend (Catskills)
>>> Trammel Facet News <<<Sunday evening EM Kasaven and UO Dev Mesanna took some of their valuable time to meet with the players of the Catskills shard to discuss adding a teleport system for players to travel to Player made towns. This is a move to encourage more player interaction and to reward those players who take the time to build their own city that they take pride in. To say it went smoothly would be a fabrication on my part. So the following Transcript had to go through heavy editing. Though the major questions of the evening are here along with the answers they provided.

Mesanna: How is everyone this evening? Ok guys. We are here to talk about towns and the possibility of town teleporters. Now, here are the rules. If you are not here to talk about this, I would appreciate you being quiet if you do not have anything to say. If you keep interrupting I will take actions, and anyone else, can you please change your text if you are using green or light blue.

EM Kasaven: Good eve, everyone

Mesanna: ok now to make this easy. Please let Kas know if you want to speak So everyone can hear what is said, please let us do this one at a time.

Katherine Elle: I wish to speak for myself, and I have comments from Hawkeye Pike of the United pirates as well. Who unfortunately wasn't able to make it here tonight.

Mesanna: Cern will not be able to join us tonight

EM Kasaven: If you have questions, comments, about player run towns and teleporters. Raise your hand and I'll put you in the que.

Mesanna: ok so let us begin. who is first Kas?

EM Kasaven: Elle is first, with Sage in que

Katherine Elle: Alright, I'm speaking first for Hawkeye Pike

Mesanna: Hi Katherine

Katherine Elle: Hellooooo. I'll have to read his words word for word. *fumbles around for notes* Okay, here it is. *unfolds the paper* Nifty features won't make guilds and community active; the things we can already do and make with custom housing are great. the village signs are nice and appreciated but what would help most is promoting player run events better in game. My suggestion is a more reliable, in game way to contact the EM's. A good way would be a mailbox for them, to drop a rune and book down in so that the EM's can recall to the house and leave their response.

Mesanna: I am glad you brought this up. May I respond?

Katherine Elle: I'll pause before the next parts of his statement, of course.

Mesanna: ok this is my idea that will do just that. Banners will be connected, the ones in your towns' will also be placed here. Like this one. Now, when you earn teleporters they will be placed by your banners, but in the mean time to promote your events the EM's will lock down a book under your banner. You can keep a record of your player run events for all the players to be able to check. Now, you will be responsible for updating this book, not the EM. That is the first step in supporting your events.

Katherine Elle: Will there be any way to prevent someone from coming by and copying over the books?

Mesanna: yes

Katherine Elle: Okay, then that sounds great.

Mesanna: I can put no use on the books so they cannot be changed

Katherine Elle: How will we change them then? I'm confused on that part.

Mesanna: I can remove it

Katherine Elle: Oh! That makes sense.

Mesanna: or you can get the book replaced with an updated version. May I ask you a question?

EM Kasaven: (by placing in my mailbox, when I get one)

Katherine Elle: Sure, but these so far have been Hawkeye's points not my own, so I can try and answer, but I'm not sure.

Mesanna: as a player how far in advance do you plan events?

Katherine Elle: Usually I try to at least have things in place a week or more in advance.

Aneirin: For the pirates, anywhere from a few minutes to a month or more.

Mesanna: few minutes we might have an issue with. Week in advance is acceptable. Go ahead.

Katherine Elle: Okay, he had two other points. He wanted to know if there is any way that a tool could be implemented for the future to allow things to be 'set' and readable, like books, in the forest. To help aid players in making scavenger quest, hint quests, or investigation quests. The tool could let something be unmoved until it's decay time, and then it decays normally.

Mesanna: Usually if something is locked down it will not decay. Same as in a house. I am not against you working with your EM's to help in this manner.

Katherine Elle: That's what I thought, but I promised to bring forth his suggestions.

Mesanna: but, it will have to be advanced notice and for everyone.

EM Kasaven: May I? I'm more than happy to lock things down, temporarily, for player run events, books for scavenger hunts, so on, as long as they can't be used for any advantage, and they can be easily removed, just as they are placed, after the event. Just a matter of emailing me with a few days notice to do so, or when I get a mailbox, doing it via that method. Which is a good idea.

Katherine Elle: Hawkeye's final suggestion

Mesanna: Is there anything else?

Katherine Elle: Well, I have my own questions after, which will be short. But Hawkeyes last suggestion, was that there be some sort of gate made in Haven and Luna that leads to either the fairgrounds here, or to the Britain Counselors hall?

Mesanna: Honestly I am not putting any gates in Luna. It is already laggy. I will put a gate to here from the hall.

Katherine Elle: There is one from the hall to here. Just not anywhere else. In most shards, the fairgrounds tend to be outside Luna.

Mesanna: Yes I know. I built them =)

Katherine Elle: So it confuses some new players to our shard that there's no indication in Luna that our fairgrounds are here instead. That was I think Hawkeye's point.

Mesanna: I will think about it, but let us get back to the towns please for now.

Katherine Elle: Alright. My first question is, what has been decided? I know you already met on Chesapeake. Was anything decided there?

Mesanna: yes we have made a decision. The decision is the teleporters to the towns that will be role played. Other towns have to recommend to the queen to grant teleporters. So you as the players will have to say who deserves one.

Katherine Elle: I like that idea, and think it's for the best.

Mesanna: this way no one feels we are making the decisions

Katherine Elle: My other questions were, what are a towns requirements? Are there any?

Mesanna: Now please finish

Katherine Elle: Alright. I wanted to know if any suggestions were made or adopted, or if any requirements were made as what a town is?

Mesanna: EM Dudley had a really good suggestion. He grouped the types of town names by how many were in it. It went from 1-4 and so on, of course they have some towns with 35+ buildings in it. They are very excited about this idea. I will say this. Within reason you guys can come up with your own rules. Rules that fit your shard.

Katherine Elle: I believe Olympus is the largest player run town on the shard, and we have thirty four buildings currently. So if EM Dudley's suggestions cover up to there. Could we hear those? It might be a nice basis to go off of.

Mesanna: I think his guide lines are pretty good. I will have Kas post them on Cats web site. 1-4 is a settlement, for example. He will post them for you guys as guidelines. I know one shard is different than others, so you might want them called something else. This is up to you guys. Was that it?

Katherine Elle: Alright. My only suggestion then before I'm done is this. I brought this up with the EM's before... We have many guilds that run market events at times. The Pirates are the most noticeable, and Aegis and the Guardians do these as well. I was wondering if there was any way that for these events temporary provisioners could be placed by the EM's in the market buildings for purchasing of extra bags. When I asked Emissary Kasaven and Cernunnos the answer was they would be exploitable possibly.

Mesanna: ok maybe I am not understanding you? Are you asking for vendors to be placed?

Katherine Elle: Provisioners! The ones that are in regular towns, that sell bags.

Mesanna: Well first off they can't place them

Katherine Elle: Okay, that's fine then. I may wish to talk about some of the other things brought up by others, but that will be after.

Mesanna: how about we keep that for later

Katherine Elle: Thank you for letting me have my time

Mesanna: because after a town earns their teleporters we can think about other things later, as a provisioner and such. Thank you.

Mesanna: Hello Sage

Sage: *bows her head gently* Allo. Thank you for hearing me tonight. I would like to know what requirements are needed to acquire a town marker, and to be considered for a teleporter?

Mesanna: Ok guys. As far as banners send in a request to your EM's. Now Kas I think maybe if you put a mailbox at the little house they can drop off their locations and requests.

EM Kasaven: Aye, that would make it convenient

Sage: I didn't know how to contact them directly

Mesanna: I think the mailbox is an excellent idea.Actually I will ask all the EM's do place one.

Sage: My second question is will the teleporters work like moongates or the new teleportation crystals?

Mesanna: it will be like a teleporter in your house. You just step on it

Sage: where will they link to?

Mesanna: it will go to the banner in the towns

Sage: so you will get a menu to choose what city to go to?

Mesanna: no, no menu. Here to there

Sage: That is where I was confused, from our towns to the fairgrounds

Mesanna: no the fair grounds to your towns

Vallend: So each town will have their own teleporter?

Mesanna: yes. You will.

Sage: They will be one way?

Mesanna: anything else Sage? Sorry?

Sage: the teleporters will be one way?

Mesanna: yes for now

WHAT THE: are these teleporters going to be in Fel?

Mesanna: yes. Btw We will set up banners in Fel also.

Sage: once our shard determines what is required to be considered for a teleporter will it be posted?

Mesanna: I can tell you now, what is going to be required

Sage: Please I'd like to know

Mesanna: It will take three towns to recommend your town for a teleporter. You will do this to the queen. Then she will grant the teleporters

EM Kasaven: (or Owain)

Sage: so size or a required number of events etc. are not needed?

Mesanna: within reason. If your town does not do events or deserve a teleporter it will be hard to get other towns to recommend you imo.

Sage: I agree. Thank you for letting me speak

Mesanna: thanks Sage

Mesanna: Hi Agustus

Agustus: Sataa, thanks for your time. The Undead's City of Necropolis feels disconnected from the rest of Britannia since we have been based in Felucca for twelve years. After our neighbors the Shadowclan Orcs left the realm we're even more alone, and it's even harder now without moonstones. Currently we don't have a banner, so I'll put in a request for one. My question is: How would we earn a teleporter if our city holds no loyalty to the Queen?

Mesanna: Please talk to Kas after this meeting

Mesanna: Thats a good question, but she is taking recommendations from the people. Not who is loyal to her.

Agustus: Alright, thank you.

Mesanna: Your welcome. Thank you

Rotep: hello!

Mesanna: Hello Rotep

Rotep: I have a few concerns

Mesanna: that is why we are here

Rotep: the first is about after a teleporter would be set up for any town I'd be concerned about griefing

Mesanna: yes

Rotep: as some people may already know

Mesanna: and as I told Chessy what is given can be taken away. If players are griefed at your towns by your town then the teleporter will be removed. you are not responsible for others.

Rotep: I meant the other way around

Mesanna: and that will be taken into consideration. If a town griefs we remove the teleporter

Rotep: I wasn't exactly thinking of other towns either

Mesanna: Retep do you really think towns will recommend one that will do this

Rotep: but I guess that's a start. no I do not

Mesanna: It’s in your hands. I am sure you guys will do what is right
Rotep: my next question is about where would the teleporters be?

Mesanna: under your banners

EM Kasaven: Which would be over in this area

Rotep: so from our town to the fairground? *oh

Mesanna: btw the banner style is your choice. That is just an example

Rotep: I figured

Mesanna: If you design it I can build it *most of the time*

Rotep: my main concern was my first question and that was all. Thank you for your time

Mesanna: Thank you sir

Greg: Greetings Emissary Kasaven, and Goddess Mesanna

EM Kasaven: Good eve

Mesanna: Greetings Greg

Greg: Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with us from your very busy schedule. Much appreciated. Are there any plans to add other types of blessings to deserving townships? I know for example the United Pirates have been after a dock since almost forever, and one was originally slated for construction.

Mesanna: Blessed buildings make me nervous...the reason I say that is I have seen some fall and no one can explain to me why. Even though they were blessed.

Greg: *nods* What about adding decorative items to make townships feel more like a township?

Mesanna: I can't say we will be doing any blessings any time soon Greg.

Greg: Perhaps supplied by the players

Mesanna: That is not out of the question

Greg: and locked down within the city? *nods*

Mesanna: That is a reasonable suggestion

Greg: Splendid! Thankee for your time

Mesanna: Your most welcome

Mesanna: Guys docks are such a pain in the butt to build

EM Kasaven: Hail, Aedon

Aedon Durreah: evening. I will say at first I did not understand the teleporters, now, I think I do. I am not here to ask for anything, but to make a point on towns. Many of us here have towns. Some hold events some not. Some are large, some consist of a few buildings, and I will tell you for sure, size does not matter. I have seen more done for the community at large by towns consisting of two buildings, and a great plot coming out of a guild of one. What matters in a town is the heart of their citizens, and the way they reach out to make the world better. Like many RPers have many guises and can therefore place house after house *looks at Sage then Agustus* Some with fewer buildings have done so much more. So when we start making our recommendations to the queen folks. The number of buildings in a town is not an issue. Remember this please, and make things just a wee bit better. Thank you. *bows*

Mesanna: Thank you

EM Kasaven: Keep in mind. The Queen, and Owain, both certainly keep an eye out over the community and are well aware what roles towns, and people, play in the community. So which towns hold events, among other things, also plays a bit of a bearing on the situation.

Va'lis Razele: Hail M'lady. First question, regarding the teleporters. Would the ones in the fairgrounds, be located in something like a shrine almost? Set up wise that is. Would the teleporters be arranged in, a circle formation?

Mesanna: Depends on the amount. We have to think about space

Va'lis Razele: *nods* Let us say, if 5 towns.

Mesanna: This is on ongoing event imo I can see this growing. So I really do see more than 5 teleporters

Va'lis Razele: *nods* I am just using the number as an example. Would it be possible to say, have a copy of the towns banner next to each teleporter?

Mesanna: I was going to let you guys pick the area at the fairgrounds for the banners. of course that is the idea.

Va'lis Razele: *nods again* Also, just one more thing...

EM Kasaven: Still possible, to the south was only a suggestion.

Va'lis Razele: If the town gave a book describing the area... Could that be placed near the teleporter?

Mesanna: you are allowed one book

Va'lis Razele: Great.

Vallend: Hail. Two questions

Mesanna: Greeting Vallend

Vallend: Can these teleporters be color coded by lands? So people know they are off to Fel and such?

Mesanna: they will be identified also, and yes thats a good idea. I don't want people going to Fel without knowing it.

Vallend: Second, A player was making a point before about other players using the new system to ruin event.

Mesanna: We have rules about harassment

Vallend: Such as non-RP guilds going to player towns just to cause trouble.

Mesanna: that is a type of harassment

Vallend: That’s the biggest fear I have on this plan

Mesanna: If this happens call a GM, they will help you

Vallend: Sorry to say but GMs are a bit slow

Mesanna: They are just really busy

Vallend: I know. It’s just a problem I see no answer to. Some towns may want left out because of this.

Mesanna: I promise they are there to support you guys when you have a problem

Vallend: Well that is all I wanted to say. Thank you

EM Kasaven: Also, if possible within the lines of the event, holding it inside would help to eliminate some of that. So that you can ban anyone there to grief, but that isn't always within the plot of an event, of course. I had a quick question on the lines of what Vallend was asking. Is it possible for the teleporters leading to Fel, to have it open the gump/script? Similar to a Fel moongate warning people they are about to enter a pvp zone, and requiring their consent?

Vallend: Also will each town have a return teleporter to here?

Mesanna: that is something I am thinking about

Vallend: Hate to someone stuck in a strange town

EM Kasaven: So Fel teleporters will be color coded so people who do not wish to enter, avoid red teleporters.

Beleg Megil: I have a tough thing for you Mesanna

Mesanna: ? A tough thing?

Beleg Megil: You know I respect you, Kasaven, Cernunnos...Have participated with you often, but how can we take assurances that griefers will be taken seriously? When they are not here?

Mesanna: Well every shard is going to have griefers there is nothing we can really do to stop that

Beleg Megil: Yes,but they are right under your nose now.

Mesanna: What we can do is come up with ways to deal with them. I know

Beleg Megil: I hope we all can

Mesanna: Sorry Beleg I just don't have a good answer for you. We just have to deal with them as they come up.

Beleg Megil: maybe in time

Katherine Elle: Thank you again

Mesanna: Hello. I had one last question. I've been paying attention to the discussion that you had on Chesapeake, and you made a very specific comment there not mentioned here. about the downside to having the teleporters.

Mesanna: Oh yes

Katherine Elle: Is that still in place?

Mesanna: with ever up side there is a down side. Every down might be added to events, might be invaded, might have monsters show up just to *look* around.

Katherine Elle: Okay, I wanted to know if that was still in place. There was one concern though I had for that. Can we make sure that with the teleporters if a town is experiencing an invasion, that there is at least some warning on the teleporter? So that those who aren't combatants who were coming to visit wouldn't wander into a huge brawl.

Mesanna: I understand your concern, but I am sure that this would not happen with just one or two people around.

Katherine Elle: Okay, that works then. I would like to ask if there's any way we can help make this process easier? Get the ball rolling, or to assist in your efforts, any way we can make your job easier and more rewarding. Please let us know, as we would all be eager to do so. You are doing more than anyone has done in many years, yourself and the Emissaries.

Mesanna: I just hope you guys have paid attention tonight and you vote wisely when you recommend a town for a teleporter.

Mesanna: thank you Katherine

EM Kasaven: There are a few minor things that can helpfrom my standpoint. I know the PGoH already have a banner, so it is not quite an issue, but if you have an elaborate banner design, for instance. The easiest way to submit the design would be to send an email with the Inside UO numbers, and a picture, if possible. Inside UO is a program with just about every UO graphic so it makes it easy for everyone. Also, the books regarding monthly player run events, that would be placed at your banner, the sooner you get them to me, the sooner I can get them placed. Same with edited copies, just try to keep them up to date and I will do my best to keep up with them.

Katherine Elle: And we can drop those at the mailbox at the wedding office?

EM Kasaven: like we said there will be a mailbox *nods* It isn't up yet, but I'll have one by tomorrow at the wedding office outside the Brit counselor's hall. Thanks, Katherine, anything else?

Katherine Elle: You said towns had to recommend the teleporters. Do you mean that to get a vote, you have to get a banner first? I wasn't clear on that.

Mesanna: only towns can recommend other towns

Katherine Elle: Will there be a specific way to recommend towns, or should we send these recommendations to Kasaven through the mailbox??

EM Kasaven: Well the idea was to do it in an RP sense

Katherine Elle: Okay, Great!

EM Kasaven: A member of another town can request a conference or hearing with Dawn, or Owain, whoever happens to be available soonest, either via email, or through the mailbox. Then they will have to meet in game to recommend the town. That make sense?

Katherine Elle: That's all for now, thank you once again for your time.

EM Kasaven: Does anyone else have questions related to player towns? The teleporters to Fel will be color coded red so if you have no wish to enter Fel, do not step on red teleporters.
The Man: what if you do on accident? You should put warning if u step on it that has okay or Cancel.

Mesanna: I will see what I can do. no promises. We will make sure it stands out

EM Kasaven: Beware of Red

Mesanna: but I don't want to leave Fel out of this either

EM Kasaven: Also the problem with Fel teleporters is they could be used as a escape device during fights. Granted the player would have a to be blue, but it is still something we'll look into before hand
Mesanna: these teleporters will not just be for events guys. You have to earn them

Vallend: Yes day to day use. With here being a central location for RP guilds to gather?

EM Kasaven: That would make sense, Vallend

Vallend: To me it does. This would become a hub.

EM Kasaven: There are plenty of already recognized player run establishments, though that are used as hubs. Alright so that about covers Player run establishments, yes? if you have questions in a few moments sit and think some up for me. *winks*

Mesanna: Unless you have questions for me it was nice to meet and talk to everyone. I hope we can get this going.

EM Kasaven: You have questions, The Man?

The Man: can u have an event where everyone gets something special?

EM Kasaven: said events are a bit more difficult, especially something like that

The Man: like with their name on it?

EM Kasaven: that wouldn't be possible, because EMs are not allowed to hand out rewards. Any reward you receive has to be via monster loot. Unless it is something like the sashes, or pies.

Dove: I was wondering about the possibility of crafting or creating signs similar to the house sign, either to be used in doors for shops.

EM Kasaven: you mean players crafting them, themselves?

Dove: Something used to designate shops and the like within the same house, or for those who share a home. Craftable and working similar to a book, for instance, but mounted outside an interior door, or on a wall.

EM Kasaven: Well, if you mean created by an EM, I can't do something like that for an individual house. If you mean giving players the ability to craft such a thing. I think that is a good idea, but beyond my area of expertise. You'd have to submit feedback to the developers and give them that idea.

Vallend: I have another players city question.. The plan is to make each player ran city into what they want correct?

EM Kasaven: What do you mean, exactly, by 'make?

Vallend: So if they are shard active, will the EMs be able to place plants they have grown.. Also things like statues and fountains..

EM Kasaven: hmm I think Mes did mention something about things like fountains

Vallend: You know pretty up their town

EM Kasaven: things that couldn't be used, functionally, as to not be exploited. So I think something like locking down plants would be feasible, within reason of course.

Dove: Very similar to Kinship, but it could become rather time consuming for you robed folks.

EM Kasaven: I don't mind dedicating some time, as long as it is for a good purpose, and, as I said before, if you have inside UO Mes, or I, can more easily craft what you need if we have the numbers, and or a picture, and I would probably give priority to those who do.

Vallend: Can each town earn its own animal trainer too?

EM Kasaven: hmm, I'm not sure if that is possible. I think it went along the lines of a banker and so forth. If it were, in the future, it would definitely be different than the teleporter requirements, but we haven't discussed concrete details for something like bankers, or animal trainers.

Selora Kesori: I know this is probably common knowledge, but I'm just coming back into the scene. Besides the mailbox that isn't yet places, how do we contact you?

EM Kasaven: Well, there is a stickied post on stratics, but I know not many read stickies..I sure don't. But, there are a few avenues you can take how to contact your EMs. Anyhow, easiest way is via the feedback function on the EM website that will send an email to Cern and myself. On that note, Cern won't be around much in the coming month, he has a few things to take care of.

Kesori: *nods* I can reach that through the main mythic site?
Katherine Elle: [ catskills.uoem.net ]

Selora Kesori: thank you.

EM Kasaven: but aye, feedback on the website, or via the message board (and now mailbox) at the wedding hall

Sage: I wanted to ask what information you would like included in a request for a Town Banner?

EM Kasaven: In a request for a banner, I'd like the banner design, if you have inside UO and can take the time to design it. The number of houses in the town, and estimated population, and whether or not you hold events, and anything else you might find useful or interesting about the town that you would include.. Vendors, ect

EM Kasaven: Zombi, you had a question?

Zombi Rothgar : Yes. Would it be at all possible to add music triggers to the areas occupied by player-run towns?

EM Kasaven: hmmm

Zombi Rothgar : So you'd hear Yew instead of Walking in the town boundaries, say.

EM Kasaven: I think that requires a patch to do something like that

Katherine Elle: Since both mailbox and messages sent over the skypages are basically delayed communication. For those of us who prefer to speak in person, in back and forth. What are the best times to skulk around the counselor’s hall to find you?

EM Kasaven: Well, I work and go to school at different schedules, so my times are rather sporadic. I know it sounds kind of what you aren't asking for, but the best way to get in contact with me to set up a face to face conversation would be via the mailbox, or email. I do stop in the hall but not at any certain time, usually, but more so after 6 - 7 p.m,

Mesanna: Night all

EM Kasaven: Goodnight!

Recap of November 22 Meet & Greet With EM Faine Morgan

Posted on Monday, November 23, 2009, 9:29 PM EST by Sara of Baja (Origin)

Meet & Greet With EM Faine Morgan, Sunday, November 22

EM Faine Morgan arrived and announced she had baked cookies for the evening however had burned them, (anyone else starting to wonder about EM Faine's culinary skills?), so she provided cake and milk. Frey Wavestrider saved the moment by announcing Brat was on her way and bringing some of her famous cookies.

The mood vastly improved when Brat passed cookies around. (REALLY, what's an Origin event with the Brat's cookies?!)

Once cookies were consumed and the crumbs cleaned up, EM Faine Morgan discussed the current plans for Chesapeake, Catskills, Pacific, and some other shards to recognize player-ran towns (existing and future) with banners in the towns and teleporters to the towns at a central location, such as the fairgrounds.  EM Faine also explained EMs would have the capability of looking down player event books with town information, events, etc. at the town banners.

EM Faine mentioned that due to Origin's unique, youngish status, what makes a player-ran town on other shards might not apply to Origin. Then explained,  'EM Dudley has worked up a proposal for naming depending upon how many buildings, like 1 to 4 would be a settlement. Can a town (or settlement) be one building? Why not? Let's say you have a tavern, and you have an area for drinking, eating socializing, etc., maybe an area for plays and storytelling, there's no reason that one building can't qualify.  The point in all this is, quite simply, community, not the number of buildings but what do those buildings contribute to the community. There may be some guilds that already have areas they'd like recognized. What I'd really like you to think on are a couple of things:

What makes a town? Origin absolutely ROCKS, and I have no qualms about any of the citizens on Origin, BUT we certainly don't want people coming along and plopping down a building just to get a banner hung out front. So, for Origin, what would make a town (not asking an answer tonite).

One thing that some of the other shards are doing that could work here is anyone can nominate themselves as a town BUT to get the teleporter placed, they have to petition Queen Dawn and have to have votes agreeing so the whole community gets to have a say in the towns.  You can petition for other people by submitting nominations.

We can work out how the whole process itself works, I just wanted to start you all thinking and open the discussions.'

The shards will each decide on the process, and the EMs will facilitate and work with the community and make suggestions on what the EMs can and can't do. EM Faine announced she is going to invite Mesanna to meet with Origin after Thanksgiving. (UO Developer Mesanna is the 'boss' of the EM program. She truly cares about the game and its players, is the one spearheading the town/community proposal, and she works very hard for the UO player community.)  Meanwhile, EM Faine asks that you talk among yourselves, think about it, and if you have questions or ideas email Faine at [email protected].

EM Faine stated the EM website will be changing as she has to move it and the site may be down for a bit. She is hoping to get all the content moved either this week or the week after Thanksgiving, and back up and running. In the meantime, she will email all announcements to me and I will get them on the forum ASAP. She will also utilize the EM lanterns and the event announcer at the Luna gate, so keep an eye out for both.

Upcoming Events:

1. Donal has been up to 'exploring' and 'learning' again, so look for something to happen with that story soon.

2. EM Faine has a little Trammel high seas adventure planned in the near future, so keep an eye out for an announcement, possibly the week after Thanksgiving.

3. Winter Wonderland House Decorating contest. Once the date the contest opens is announced (possibly December 1), entrants will have two weeks to submit entries by placing a rune along with a book telling if your house is public or private in the mailbox at the Origin Award House. If a house is private, EM Faine will need to set a time to meet with you so she can take screenshots of the design. Screenshots will then be posted on the internal EM website, and the EMs will vote on the designs. EM Faine also stated she would TRY (note TRY) to persuade Mesanna to give her permission to place a golden gingerbread cookie outside the winning house.

EM Faine would like to know what works best for events for Origin players ... week nights or weekend nights?

After the meeting, EM Faine Morgan led us over to the Origin Award House where a sash by EM Laurana was already on display.

EM Laurana, who left the EM program this past week, has been a big part of Origin for almost a year. In recognition of the contributions Laurana made to Origin, EM Faine Morgan placed a plaque to commemorate Laurana's time on Origin.

As a tribute to Laurana, Falseprophet furnished a pan of the Brat's cookies to be locked down in front of the sash and plaque.

We then moved downstairs where EM Faine apologized for an error during the recent scavenger hunt.

She then asked permission to modify the winners' award to recognize the top four teams. As Crystal Canyon said, it's 'Team Origin', and arrangements were made to correct the award. Be sure to check at the Award House to view the change.

The night started with the Zoo at Tier 9 with 9,789,217 donation points, and after a whirlwind hour of taming and turn-ins ended at Tier 10 with 10,060,400 points on the donation box ... a grand total of 271,183 points earned through taming and gold check donations ... and the Sphinx reappeared at the Zoo.

Tamers present were:

Lil Debi [M!S]
James [MT]
Kat MacBroeden, Shayla Keylley [DWN]
Katrina Cole [BRPA]
Luna Tic [TAO]

Zackarias [DWN] was on hand to provide security.

Sunday Night Taming was started January 4, 2009, by M!S and is an ongoing project to maintain Baja's Moonglow Royal Zoo. The event is open to the public, and the Zoo donation box accepts tamed animals, gold and checks. Unless otherwise posted, the event is every Sunday evening, 8pm Pacific (9pm Mountain, 10pm Central, 11pm Eastern), and currently the project is for the Trammel Royal Zoo. If there is enough interest, a taming hour to buildup and maintain the Felucca Zoo could be started.

The Astronomer (Sunday 22nd)

>>> Ilshenar News <<<At 8 o'clock I gathered in Britain ready to hear what Fynn Barrett had to say.

Unusually Fynn ran from the North of Britain and quickly opened a gate to a public moongate ordering us to head to Sacrifice near Lakeshire.

Once we all arrived we found Nathradan standing by the moongate.

Nathradan told us:

"You are finally here! We need your help: Our town is under attack!"

"Go quickly! We can't hold them off much longer!"

When we arrived at Mireg the meer were being overrun by Juka from the north. We battled through the Juka slowly pushing them back further north.

We arrived at the mountain passage way inbetween Lakeshire and Mistas and ran into an familar face, Nathan Hawke was running from Mistas and told us to wait. He told us he had heard about the trouble in Mistas and had came to investigate.

Fynn told Nathan the queen requests Nathan at the castle immediately and he seemed convinced we were there to arrest him, However Fynn said that was not the case. Fynn agreed for Nathan to lead us to Mistas and the battle.

"To the north" he yelled and we ran further through the mountain pass.

After battling more Juka on the way to Mistas we arrived at the cities bridge.

Nathan told us a note had been torn up and blown across the city, We were to collect as many pieces as possible to try recover what the note said.

5 pieces were found along with odd devices dotted around the city. They were very similar to the gate devices found in Yew and Trinsic a couple of weeks ago.

Fynn gathered us at one device and we began reading the pieces of notes we found.

The note mentioned 'planets'.. Unsure about this we decided to head to Moonglow to speak to the Astronomer at the Telescope.

At the Moonglow Telescope an old old man was standing by the landmark. He requested we help him with his research.

"Yes. I believe that such a moment is fast approaching. We will see many of these rifts appear."

"Ahh you've seen it? The new rift? It is exciting and terrifying at the same time!"

"Sometimes the planets are in alignment - this is a time of dread some say."

Further talking to the Astronomer revealed an attack on all the Trammel Moongates TODAY!

At 8pm on Monday the 23rd of November the Moongates all over Trammel will be attacked. Beware. If you wish to help in the battle to defend Sosaria meet at the guard tower south of Britain Bank, Trammel at 8pm UK Time (9pm European Time) tonight.

In other news the cause of the Newscriers still yelling about the Treasures of Tokuno becomes clear.

They have only just woken up! Someone please tell this poor man in Cove the latest news.

Merchants Encouraged To Promote Their Wares At West Britain Bank
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Sunday, November 22, 2009, 3:40 PM EST by Sara of Baja (Baja)

Today, a stranger, Fain (please note Fain has an invulnerable 'yellow' status), was sighted near West Britain Bank selling her wares, apples and other fruits.  When offered furniture to help keep her wares fresh and safe, Fain was agreeable until she spotted a gargoyle-style container.

Fain seemed to be quite opposed to the recent opening of the borders allowing free travel of all races by Queen Dawn and Queen Zhah of Ter Mur, and was particularly opposed to Gargoyles in Britannia, implying they are 'evil'.  Fain went on to explain she has filed an official complaint against Queen Dawn for 'Dealing with the heretic queen of Gargoyles without taking in account the opinion of the citizens.' This was confirmed by Corporal Brackus of the Town Guards.  He assured Fain he had delivered her complaint via the appropriate channels, and has not received anything back from his superiors yet.

Hoping to avoid potential problems for Fain selling her wares on the streets of Britain, Jordan of TAO, a Gargoyle friendly guild, and Bucko asked Corporal Brackus if a permit was needed, and if so, the cost so it could be paid. The good Corporal stated that the town official Eliar is the one who usually mandates permits and collects fees if a permit is required.  Meanwhile Bucko the Kid and WildStar, Grand Duchess of Dawn, purchased some of Fain's apples (both remarking that while the apples were tasty, they were not as good as Billy Scranton's apples), while chatting with her about her feelings toward Gargoyles.

Fain strongly encourages all merchants to come to Britain to promote selling their wares at West Britain Bank stating that she had removed the grim effigy and dead goats from the street as the stink of the rotting goats was bad for business.

Later, after Fain left the area, Corporal Brackus reported that Eliar, the town official, had appeared at the bank and spoke with the Corporal and Bucko about the permit, and hinted at a bribe. Eliar even went so far as to try to persuade Bucko to pay his income taxes until he realized that Bucko is underage.

SupSoc Inc.’s Journey from Broker to High-Profile Merchant
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Sunday, November 22, 2009, 2:34 PM EST by Fallon Valor (Atlantic)
ATLANTIC—One of Atlantic’s greatest strengths is its extensive selection of top quality, runic-made armor and weapons, available thanks to Atlantic’s exceptional crafters. Atlantic has a number of high-profile craftsmen, but perhaps none so well known as SupSoc Inc. With the recent relocation of his highly-frequented vendor mall to Luna, SupSoc Inc. is enthusiastic about the future of his establishment, quality crafted wares, and reputable brokering business.

When SupSoc Inc. opened his Atlantic Outlet mall northwest of Umbra two years ago, he was known primarily for his trustworthy brokering service. Because the Outlet was a new establishment and somewhat off the beaten path, SupSoc Inc. found it necessary to invest a great deal of time and effort into ensuring that the Outlet was perpetually stocked with only the highest quality items. Recognizing that his success or failure would hinge on a steady flow of consumers, he focused all of his attention on meeting the needs of his patrons. In fact, when I asked him what factors contributed to the Outlet’s growth and success, SupSoc Inc. attributed all of his accomplishments to “all my loyal fans and customers who choose me,” he said.

SupSoc Inc.’s notoriety began to grow, largely due to his steady supply of runic-made armor and weapons. Over time, his fame spread to other shards, as players began exporting SupSoc Inc.-made items abroad. Most all long-time residents of Atlantic have owned at least one piece made by the craftsman.

That said, the journey toward his success has not been without its difficulties. Perhaps most challenging is SupSoc Inc.’s efforts to root out cheaters and scammers who attempt to rent vendors at his establishment.

“I am a guy that doesn’t condone the use of cheats or scamming,” SupSoc Inc. said. “I recently rented out a vendor to a scammer. He decided to sell ‘ethereal clothing.’ They were not real, but simply dyed jet black.”

When a shop owner leases a vendor to another player, the rented vendor cannot be altered by the owner of the establishment until the terms of the lease have expired. The quality of rented vendors – not to mention their relative legitimacy – reflects directly on the merchant who owns the shop. Merchants like SupSoc Inc., whose businesses depend on their reputation for quality and trustworthiness, can be ruined by unscrupulous tenets. Accordingly, shop owners are forced to develop creative strategies for dealing with would-be scammers. In response to the forged ethereal clothing, SupSoc Inc. did what he could to discourage patrons from falling victim to the scam.

“I decided to put up goza mats to block his vendor, along with a book that would inform people not to buy from his vendor,” SupSoc Inc. said.

The Atlantic Outlet continued to operate for two years, until extenuating circumstances forced SupSoc Inc. to close the establishment.

“[The Atlantic Outlet] was doing very well until a couple months ago when real life had to come first,” he said. “I ended up selling the mall. Soon after, I bought a Luna house. I essentially moved the Outlet to Luna and changed the name from ‘The Atlantic Outlet’ to ‘The SupSoc Inc. Emporium.”

Despite the various setbacks that forced the Outlet’s closure, SupSoc Inc. feels optimistic about his new location.

“I am very excited about my move to Luna,” SupSoc Inc. said. “It seems the Luna vendor quality has been below average – I am hoping to raise it back up to the premium.”

In addition to his brokering services and quality crafted items, SupSoc Inc. offers vendor rentals at his Luna location to aspiring merchants. Be forewarned, however, that his vendor spots do not come cheap: a SupSoc Inc. vendor lease costs 250,000 gold per week. Yet, the high cost is not without purpose. By keeping his vendor prices high, SupSoc Inc. hopes to ensure, first, that only top-quality items are sold, and second, that vendors are well-maintained and stocked regularly.

SupSoc Inc. has been playing UO for over seven years. His first craftsman, Lord Smithey, began selling crafted wares five years ago, until he was replaced by SupSoc Inc. a year later. SupSoc Inc. has been a trusted crafter and broker on Atlantic for four years. His establishment, the SupSoc Inc. Emporium, is now opened for business in Luna.

The Baja Roleplaying and Event Alliance (BRPA) has taken over the Britannia Zoo Taming Hour from The Misfits of Society (M!S). Thank you M!S for starting and maintaining the Taming Hour. We hope that we can do as well as you have.

Britannia Zoo Taming Hour will resume this Sunday, November 22nd at 8:00 PM PST (11:00 PM PST) meeting at the Britannia Zoo on Verity Isle, Trammel (Moonglow). The Zoo has regrettably slipped to Tier 9 and it will be alot of hard work to get the Silver Steed back, but we look forward to it.

That said, I am opening up this thread for comments about the possibility of another time for the Taming Hour or even a second Taming Hour another time during the week. There is also a Britannia Zoo on Verity Isle, Felucca and that Zoo is at Tier 1. Is there interest in working that Zoo up as well? Please leave your comments in the linked thread regarding this.

Thank you,

Owen Uther Arrested for Murder!

Owen Uther Arrested for Murder!

Owen turned over in his bed and listened to the sounds around his ranch house. In the next room, Owen could hear his wife Sara, putting on a warm kettle of coffee and bacon sizzling by the fire. Stretching lazily, Owen stole a few more moments of sleep. In the distance Owen heard his hunting dogs barking frantically. Instantly, Owen was fully awake and he quickly dressed and drew his new long sword.

The sound of a fist banging against the door caused Sara to drop the hot bread she had just taken out of the oven, sending the pan clattering across the floor. “Open in the name of the Queen.”

Owen charged into the kitchen passing his startled wife and unlatched the door “What is the meaning of this? What do you want?”

“Owen Uther. I am Luke, an Officer of the Royal Britannian Guard. You are under arrest by order of Judge Locke and to be tried in the Yew Court for murder.”

Owen frowned and dropped his long sword. “You will answer to Sheriff Brax and the Mayor for this outrage.”

Luke said nothing in response as the Royal Guards led Owen to the Britannia Prison but smiled calmly. The Royal Britannian Guards had thoroughly investigated the disappearance of Jes and Judge Locke believed that Owen was likely the killer. Luke glanced to the small clearing of trees behind the ranch house that he knew hid a shallow grave. Justice would be done with or without Sherriff Brax and his cronies!

Note: The Trial will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 8:00 PM EST

Two teams are needed to argue; one for the defense and one for the prosecution in Owen’s trial. Each team will be able to call and question witnesses and present evidence.

If you would like to participate in the trial, please send an email to EM Eris or EM Nestor by Sunday, November 22, 2009.

Please include if you would like to be on the defense or prosecution.

Preference for participation will be given to those who submitted the most detailed investigative reports.

citytours1                                                           Player Run City Tours Underway!

Tours of the various player run cities, towns, and villages are underway as EM Vladimere has begun to make his way around the realm visiting all who have applied for the recently announced town status, banner process. Beginning with Kijustsu Anei on Tuesdays eve, the whirlwind tour has already encompassed the cities of Dragons Watch, Silvervale, Paxlair, and PaxOku.
Kijustsu Anei Village, just outside the Homare-Jima moongate welcomed Vladimere with a grand tour after the performance of a timely ritual summoning the "Etheral Guide" to show us the way!

Strolling the lands, the gracious citizens displayed thier homes with pride explaining thier use and historical information as well as some great designs! EM Vlad was quite impressed!

Mayor Oni of Silvervale ran into a bit of trouble as with most locations last eve, the city was swamped with Wild Turkeys! EM Vladimere chuckled with delight as he kept score as the ever faithful residents and tour participants did thier best to fend of those ferocious yardbirds! After some assistance from the neighboring alliance city of Guardians Gate, the tour resumed with the score at last check had the turkey waaaay ahead at players 18 turkey 1 *grins*

The city of Dragons Watch was the next on the agenda. Warm Your Feet And Have A Cone On [MUCK]

Many may be wondering what the Feet Warmers, Cookie Dough Ice Cream and Bowl Of Ice Cream are for.
Perhaps where the items came from? Were they created by the Goblins that now occupy the warm South-East
corner of the Luna Bank? Almost everyone has seen these small creatures around Luna, the city of PaxLair and
Dragons Watch, and other places around the world. Ozog was kind enough to answer a few of our questions
and explain a little bit about his kind. Obviously the first thing we wanted to know was where that delicious
ice cream came from!

Once Ozog finished giving out ice cream cones to those who wanted one he explained.
"Ozog did not make the ice cream. Big majik lady and big majik man give to ozog. Ozog shares it wif eberyboudy "

The feet warmers that were also placed Ozog gave a short and simple explanation on.
"Can't wear shoes. Only gots two toes."

We have obtained a few translations for some Goblin words as well.
(aarp= hello) (yerg= yes) (nerg = no) (girkle = ty) (nebzie = welcome) (hem he ghec is goblin curse)

Ozog Giantfart had a few other words to say to the community and about the Goblins [MUCK]

"Goblins come from under cabbge leaves. der are boy and girly goblins, we don't fight , but we runs fast.
No shoes cause only got 2 toes why feet warmers. Goblins very rarly eats meats, like ice cream and
cakes better. but do eat vedgies. Goblins likes to help eberybuddy but do bite for no reason might be
way to say hi. Goblins lives caves. donot have clans or guilds. Have Mobs we like playing
and running, goblins love to run. "

We would like to thank Ozog Giantfart for taking the time to speak with us. We look forward to finding
out more information on the MUCK mob. We have accepted an invitation to visit the Goblins cabe house.
We are delighted to see that the Goblins got their request for Ice Cream at the Community Discussion
with Mesanna and our shard EMs.

Results of EM Scavenger Hunt

By Oriana

EM Faine Morgan had agreed to cook Thanksgiving Dinner for the whole EM Team. She soon figured out accommodating them all could be a tricky task.

But she knew the citizens of Origin would not let her down. Everyone was called to the Awards Hall in Malas. She put together a cookbook with the ingredients and clues needed to find them.

She explained her predicament to everyone then began to handout the books and give directions.

Soon all of the books were handed out. Faine Morgan after making a few more comments and answering questions readied the crowd for the beginning...

A few took off right a way. Some started a bit slower as they read over the massive book with clues. But soon everyone was on their way.

I stayed to keep Faine Morgan company while the others scrambled to find the right ingredients. While we waited she allowed me a peek at the book...

(highlight the area after item to see the ingredients)

1. While Pixies like to scatter these around and they can be used as quest items, Mesanna thinks they could also make charming napkin rings.
Item - Ariel's Bauble

2. EM Autolycus is quite the adrenaline junkie. He feels sure that once this is emptied, he can put it to good use as a helmet.
Item - Bowl (any type accepted)

3. EM Valdimere's fangs tend to make eating a tad messy. Surely there's something that could protect his EM robe during dinner?
Item - Apron (half or full)

4. Perhaps if EM Tashik uses this to start the fire this year instead of the dragon, his eyebrows will grow back before spring.
Item - Kindling

5. EM Eira says everyone knows that to make truly good corn bread, it has to be cooked in one of these.
Item - Skillet

6. While EM Dudley swears he tastes like candy, no one can truly resist these as dessert. Just ask Brat!
Item - Cookies

7. Last year, EM Seppo swore these were eavesdropping. Perhaps this year if it's cut up and creamed, things might go better.
Item - Corn

8. Faine makes a note to remind EM Quantum that this is used to carve the bird and not thrown at the other EM's.
Item - Cleaver, Knife, Dagger

9. After all the cleaning and cooking and festivities, this is definitely called for, even if it has been known to lead to bar dancing EM's.
Item - Alcoholic Beverage of any sort

10. Faine thinks she'll get Mesanna to tell EM Stardancer that these are used to help make cookies, not to help test EM Autolycus's new "helmet".
Item - Rolling Pin

11. EM Cyno Razik loves trying new delicacies. However, Faine fails to understand how anything with the word Rot in it can be considered good.
Item - Rotworm stew or Rotworm Meat

12. EM Fiorella is a renowned chocoholic. Last year every cow in Britannia ran dry providing the liquid for her chocolate. Faine wonders if this year will be the same?
Item - Milk

13. EM Quantum discovered the hard way that you don't really want to use these from Chicken Lizards when making a cake.
Item - Eggs

14. Although these have been known to bring a tear to the eye, EM Kasaven eats them like apples. Faine makes a note to stock up on breath mints.
Item - Onion

15. Those of you helping out tonite are really saving Faine's ___________
Item - Bacon

Many people came back several times to have their items checked. Some worked solo, many worked in teams. The ingredients were very specific, so Faine sent many back out to find the right ones. After an hour of back and forth the teams were set. Everyone gathered once again at the Awards Hall.

Faine Morgan began inspecting the bags a bit closer as the hour drew to and end. Soon three winners were announced.

Team CCC with 13 of the 15 items
Team Zerg with 12 1/2 of the 15 items
Team Wavestrider with 11 of the items

Team Zerg had the right idea about the rotworm stew. They brought the recipe instead of the actual meat or stew, which was what Faine Morgan needed to suite Cyno Razik's ... unusual tastes. Thus the 1/2 point for them.

Team Wavestrider was added a bit later as Faine Checked bags once again and realized she had made a mistake counting their items and once again that rotworm stew made a mess of things.

Faine Morgan created the item to go into the Awards House. I bumped into her later as I came back to get more screen shots of the aftermath once the EM's had left after feasting on what Origin had provided.

Now for a picture of the proper item with all the winners listed...

Congratulations to the winners and to all that participated. It was a wonderful event as always. We on Origin are truly blessed to have Faine Morgan as our EM.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and watch out for those Giant Turkeys in game...

Visiting Lakeshire to see Nathradan
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Friday, November 20, 2009, 2:51 AM EST by Mapper (Europa)
>>> Ilshenar News <<<We gathered at the guard tower in Britain and Fynn arrived at 8. He got straight to the point, his friend Nathradan had requested help at Lakeshire, Ilshenar.

We went through to the Sacrific moongate and walked north to the meer city.

We saw no sign of Nathradan but a note by him was found - It said:

"The fighting has intensified. I can not wait for you any longer. Meet me in the passage from Healers Grove to Justice Shrine. Nathradan."

We found Nathradan at the passage, he was a meer with a light brown cloak.

He told us of orcs attacking the Juka in Mistas, Fynn said we should see what was happening however Nathradan told us to be very careful.

We headed south towards Mistas and were ambushed by Juka.

We rushed over to city of Mistas and found the place engulfed in orcs and dragons. We battled at the gate to Mistas and slowly made our way in.

After a short fight Fynn yelled "Pull Back" some others went further into Mistas, The other half of us went outside the city to Fynn.

We gathered outside Mistas and people soon reported the place was full of Dragons, Drakes, Ettins and Orcs. We soon discovered we had invaded their city instead of trying to help, Fynn was worried we may have made the situation worse.

The Orcs were not battling against the Juka, they were working together... Only time will tell why they have teamed up. Suddenly in the middle of our discussion the orcs came from the city and attacked.

We pulled back further and gathered south of the city entrance, Fynn asked we head back to Lakeshire where we found the note.

At Lakeshire Ariane Du Bris told Fynn the Orcs came from the Justice Moongate. They had possibly entered the moongate via their moongate devices, Similar to those recently found in Yew and Trinsic.

Discussion ended there and Fynn requested we head back to Britain.

(I had to leave at this point so perhaps someone who went to Britain can carry on what was said.)

Calvin Crowner - UO Producer's Letter

    Calvin Crowner

    12 Nov 2009 20:14:08 EST

“This is your captain speaking … we’ll be climbing to an altitude of 36,000 feet. Expect some turbulence on ascent. Once we reach cruising altitude, I’ll turn off the seat belt sign, and you’ll be permitted to move about the cabin … Due to FAA regulations smoking is not permitted … unless you’re sharing the good stuff with the rest of the crew. Thank you for flying Britannia Airlines”

Twelve years and a Guinness Book record mention later, we are still here!
We’ve recently successfully launched UO’s 8th Expansion, bringing back programs that independent boards said would never occur … Oh, and I’m not certain if you noticed, but there are more people playing Ultima Online again every day. I know. I have our subscriber numbers on refresh. It makes me smile.

I heard you really liked Halloween. Yes, Sakkarah and the rest of the folks supporting her on live got rid of “Death or Treat” this year. She’s got a few nice things lined up for the holidays. Expect to see more on the holiday publish in the next week.

More importantly, something I know you have been waiting for – engineering has been working on speedhacking and 3rd party program detection. We’re closer each day to a solution, but are not publishing it until it’s solid.

Finally, as a former Air Force Officer and graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, I hope everyone found time to show their appreciation for those currently serving in our Armed Forces as we celebrated Veteran’s Day earlier this week. We here at Mythic make games. We don’t defend against all enemies foreign and domestic. We make a worlds where it’s possible to be the conquerors and almost king. Here we have a different battle for good and evil. As we’ve seen, life is all too real sometimes. Thanks for making us the place you care to escape.

Today a grim scarecrow effigy was placed at the West Britain Bank by unknown individuals. The effigy had a note attached that said "Gargoyle appeasers be forewarned! Steer clear of winged plague!" Surrounding the odd effigy there are festering goat corpses that the Town Guards refuse to clean up. A basket seller named Fain complained about the smelly goats.

    Overheard comments:

Sally: The goats will rot and make this town smell!
A town guard: Well. It suits me just fine to let them rot. They look diseased and I rather not touch them.
Fain: I want to file a complaint!
    Fain: *looks displeased*
A town guard: Fine fine... In the tower, please.
Zackarias: *does not know who could have placed scarecrow and skinned goats*
Sally: A Dark Wolf... ek! and no idea about the scarecrow or goats...

    A Farewell
Posted By EM Laurana on November 17, 2009

     Players of Origin,

I write to you today with a message of thanks and farewell. I have resigned from the UO EM program, as circumstances prevent me from being able to contribute to the program to the extent that I’d like and that you deserve. I have had a most wonderful year on Origin, as I hope you have, and I thank you for the opportunity to share a piece of Britannia’s history with you. You truly are some of the best players in this game – in all of gaming, I’d venture to say.

You will be in fine hands with EM Faine Morgan. I wish you all continued joy and success, in-game and out. I plan to pursue other passions while returning to Britannia as a player.

With that, this is EM Laurana, signing out.
So long, and thanks for all the fish.

     EM Laurana,

It has been a privilege getting to know you. You will be missed on Origin, and fondly remembered. Thank you for all that you have done for Origin and the entire EM program.

My best to you in all your future endeavors,

    Sara

    !Royal Turkey Hunt!

Soon after Dawn had been named Queen, she had requested that turkeys be raised so that the entire realm would be able to have a feast to celebrate Thanksgiving. Well things went slightly wrong, one farmer decided to breed a flock of turkeys in a secret cave. The cave had been one that Casca had used for Blackrock experiments; The birds morphed into a strange form and are clearly not suitable for consumption. The entire flock needs to be destroyed, so Dawn is calling on the best turkey hunters in all the land to gather to go and kill this flock. Gather the points found on the corpses of these beasts; the hunter who turns in the most points will be named “Champion Turkey Hunter” and shall have a plaque placed to note their achievement. So dawn is asking all hunters to assemble at the Brit Counselor Hall on November 18th at 8:30 PM EST. Please be very prompt or you may miss the gate.

*** A note about the Points***
There will be sealed books, titled “one point” on many corpses; these books will have unique code numbers in them. Only the first book turned in with the code number will count as a point, so do not try to copy books.

October Best Shot In The Realm

Toni Fierce, GM of Misfits of Society, with fears of wild Imps, daemons and other evil creatures of All Hallows Eve, held October's Best Shot in the Realm on Saturday, October 24th, and spared 22 adventurous shooters from having to deal with unkind buttes and also creatures of the night.

A lineup of proven past winners, many other talented archers highly capable of capturing the crown at any time, and one person who seemed to always have an illegal bow in her hands. Warned numerous times during this night and also in previous BSRs she still managed to shoot the 2nd round illegally and had her scores erased, but was allowed to re-shoot, amid some unkind words and catcalls from the crowd.

M!S, sponsor of this year's BSR and in the tradition of the Society of Archers, has few rules, but one is the use of only manmade or NPC bought bows . Any archer without a legal bow is provided with one.

Moving on to the 1st round with Toni Fierce giving welcomes and instructions to the gathered shooters the contest began. As usual, most of this talented group used this 70 point round as merely practice with only Lynx, a new shooter, falling aside and receiving the 50,000 gold consolation check. Also in this round Elizabeth posted the nights 1st Robin Hood.

The 2nd round found the archers finding their marks with only one other archer failing to reach round 3. Doc, Jonah, Katsumato, Llama, and Maleki showed the crowd that any of them could win by posting Robin Hoods (RHs) early.

The 3rd round, where only perfection will move you forward, found 10 more shooters falling aside, and Robin Hoods from Katsumato again, and also BruceLee and Kiljaedon. Of the 10 shooters who moved to the Champion Round there were five who already posted RHs.

The 4th round found the Champion of the Month with Howard Hill putting up the 200 and winning score, but was tightly contested by Brucelee and Drusilla who also posted Robin Hoods but added an inner ring shot to fall 40 points shy of the title.

Howard Hill, an obviously accomplished, shooter seemed  awed by his win and was awarded the engraved bow , a 1,000,000-gold check , and a seat in the years end Champions Of Champions shootoff ... CONGRATS Howard Hill!!!

The next BSR will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at 8:30pm Pacific (9:30pm Mountain, 10:30pm Central, 11:30pm Eastern) at the Skara Brae Faire Grounds.  M!S encourages all archers to come and compete for their chance to win!

East Britain Counselor's HallRoyal Academy of VirtueThe newly founded Royal Academy of Virtue invites all citizens of Sosaria to attend the first in a series of seminars, discussions, and adventures into how the Virtues touch our lives. The first installment of the series will take place on Thursday, November 19th, 2009 at 8:00 PM (CST) in the East Counselor's Hall in Britain (3°46' S by 21°43' E, Trammel), and will focus on the Virtue of Compassion.

This first installment on Compassion will begin with a tale of Virtue, followed by open discussion on what everyone sees Compassion to mean, and how it may or may not apply to both the tale and our everyday lives.

Refreshments will be available, and a textbook including the tale and some self-reflecting questions will be provided at the seminar. The Royal Academy of Virtue hopes to foster a new age of understanding by taking a deeper look at the core principals of Britannia. In this post-Cascan era, empowering ourselves with the strength of the Virtues will prepare us for any future threat to Britannia and Sosaria at whole.

We hope to see you there!

    Umbra's Spooktastathon Celebration

Posted on Monday, November 16, 2009, 4:04 PM EST by Fallon Valor (Atlantic)
    >>> Malas News <<<ATLANTIC--The Halloween 2009 event has come to an end. Freshly-healed gypsies are making their way back to the Minoc gypsy camp. Atlantians everywhere - some sporting crimson Conjurer's Garbs, many more binding crimson wounds inflicted by the monstrous Harbinger - are beginning to realize how busy they have been over this holiday season. In fact, some may find that, due to their commitment to the Halloween event, they failed to dedicate enough time toward trick-or-treating.

Thanks to The Order of the Ebon Skull, as well as the City of Umbra and Dragonstorm Marketplace, Atlantic adventurers will have another opportunity to collect tasty holiday treats. Atlantians attending this event should expect three things: candy, hidden rares, and blood. According to the announcement by the event organizers, the know details of this event are as follows:

We know our citizens have been stingy with their candy this year, but we're about to change all that. Our loyal citizens have been stealing candy from ungrateful children and beating up trick o' treaters in foreign cities just to get enough treats to give to all of you! Starting at 8pm EST, we will be handing out special trick o' treat bags to the first 100 trick or treaters on the steps of the Wailing Banshee Inn in Umbra. Each bag will contain candy and two of the special trick o' treat rares such as the small webs or the harvest wine.

Arrived late and didn't get a bag? Not a problem! Our citizens will give you another chance to not go home empty-handed. After the last bag has been handed out, some of our sneaky citizens will be hiding special evil goodies all over the city. It'll be up to you to find them! These might be something as simple as a brazier to something more expensive like a large piece of blackrock or a Halloween ghoul statuette. Almost 20 million of these sneaky goodies will be put down around the city and it'll be up to you to find them.

After the last sneaky citizen has told us that all their special items have been dropped, we'll give you folks a few more minutes to search and then safely put your items away. Then we'll begin gating to our famous Necromancer Arena for an old fashioned blood bath. We will be summoning multiple Harbingers inside the arena. The special items, fame and death robes are yours for the taking. Some of our skilled healers will remain nearby to help resurrect the dead.

This event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 18 November 2009 and 8:00 PM EST. Attendees are asked to congregate in the City of Umbra at the Wailing Banshee Inn.

Hello Everyone! I'm Katherine Elle, Senator of Inquiry of PGoH, and you may have met many of us during our recent Honordayz Festival!

I'm a bit of a trader myself, and I've managed to secure a set of champion skulls that have just been collecting dust. So it's time to pass the glory on to the shard!

A public harrower will be run the night of Saturday December 12th, With a meet up time of 7:15 PM EST and a skull drop shortly after that. Everyone is invited to join us, and I've spoken with many of those who frequent the old lands of Felucca who support this public harrower. We invite you all to attend, and please post here if you have any questions or concerns about it. You may also contact me via my icq, listed in my profile! A big thank you to all those I've spoken with who have offered cooperation and support!

We'll also be finishing the night off with Galehaven Tavern's Casino Night, a popular event that went over quite well during Honordayz and now will be held on a regular or semi-regular basis as our schedules allow. If you have questions about that, feel free to ask as well!

May Honor Guide and Bind you!

    Fall Bazaar event winners announced
Sunday, November 15, 2009 By EMSeppo

    House of Terror contest:

It was a very tough call. We thought that all of the entries had a very unique point of view to them. Unfortunately, there could only be one winner. In the end, Voluptuous’ Clan of Cannibal Clucks was picked as the winner for its mind-blowing creativity with house customization.

    A Tale of Terror:

If the house decoration contest was a tough call, then this was ten times more difficult to pick a winner. Every single story left us with goosebumps. We definitely toyed with the idea to declare all three of the contestants as a “winner” but decided against it in the end because we had promised to pick one. While Magdalena’s story left us with a delightfully spooky twist and WildStar’s found us thirsty to find out more about what happened to the Girl Scouts, in the end, we picked Cymidei Fier as the winner for its deliciously disturbing details.

The trophies for the short story and costume contest have been left at the reward hall, whereas, a golden pumpkin was left outside Voluptuous’ house for the house deco contest.

Congratulations for everyone who participated. It was a great turn out and lot of fun. Truly, you are all winners.

PS:  For people who sent in their stories for the gargoyle fiction, it is not forgotten! We will get to it soon enough.

This morning I was tending my battle chicken lizards, when a little birdie appeared in one of my trees.

The little birdie asked me about EM Torture Re-Certification Time?!?!

When I explained the term was most probably derived from the entrants of the Halloween contests wondering about winners of the house and story-telling contests, the little birdie directed me towards the Race Track near Skara Brae Faire Grounds.

On the ground in front of the keep owned by Voluptuous there was a Golden Pumpkin!! Because Voluptuous has already taken her Clan of Cannibal Clucks house down and is planning for a Christmas House, the pumpkin award was placed here.

     Congratulations Voluptuous!

From The Quill Of Cmdr. Drake Foxx

Posted on Saturday, November 14, 2009, 10:28 PM EST by Merik ONN (Chesapeake)
Commander Foxx returned to his Britain office. The wind rustled the hedges outside the stone building as he walked through the archway. He stripped off the blood soaked armor and set it within a chest. He looked upon his office chair with a reserved comfort. Foxx let the weight of his body overcome him as he sat down with a gentle thud. He shuffled the collected documents to find a blank piece of parchment. Foxx set it out in front of him, dipped the quill before him in a well of ink, and began to write,

    Your Majesty,

As requested I write to inform you of the status of the caravans. Friday's caravan left the Warrior's guild with the ordered supplies. Light resistance was initially encountered, however those citizens under my command dispatched most threats with great swiftness. Unfortunately it seems the brigand Scarlet Von Trinsic, with the assistance of her lackeys, plotted an escape whilst en route to the Court of Truth in Yew. She is now at large. I have already taken steps to ensure she is at the top of Britannia's Most Wanted. Rest assured Highness, she will be apprehended. Scattered remnants of The King's Own plagued our journey, lead by Alodar Salafna. Twas not long before the vile Salafna showed himself. I am happy to report he is no longer a concern to the Crown. The Feluccan caravan left under heavy guard. I must admit I had little hope the caravan would survive the onslaught of the murderous Feluccan citizenry...they proved ineffective this eve however. The journey was not without ambush, though. In the end the caravan reached did reach Trinsic. The Brigand Scarlet Von Trinsic appeared and with great excitement proclaimed she'd set explosion traps within those equines who carried the burden. The only action was to slay them in an attempt to save the supply. With hesitation the escort dispatched the equines and thankfully most of the supplies were recovered. I've reports the supplies that reached Magincia will provide aid, but we cannot tell how long the evils there may be kept at bay. Lord Casca is dead, as is his lieutenant Alodar Salafna. We must focus on Von Trinsic now. She is the greatest threat to our prosperity and to the Crown. She will be apprehended. This I can assure.

    Your noble servant,

    Cmdr. Drake Foxx
    Britannian Royal Guard

Commander Foxx ended the final sentence of his correspondence with a striking period from the quill. He dripped sealing wax on the scroll and sent it off to the Castle with his errant. He leaned back in his chair...thinking only of Scarlet Von Trinsic and what horror she may bring to the realm.

Shard Meet With Mesanna a Success!

Meet111209                                                    Shard Meet with Mesanna a Success!

Not much was known as to what we could expect from Thursday meeting with Mesanna from the EA team. As patrons gathered inside the blaze tent in Luna's Fairgrounds, anticipation was in the air as we anxiously awaited her arrival. Before long EM's Dudley and Vladmiere appeared welcoming the crowd to what would turn out to be a rather lenghty dsicussion. After the arrival of Mesanna we were underway!

Covering a broad range of topics throughout the night, the shards event team patiently spoke with each and every player who wished to be heard. Among the more debated topics was the proposed player run city teleporter link advertised here in our recent news along with event items, future events, rewards, communication between the shard EM's and the general population.

Lady Mesanna was greeted with a thunderous cheer as she offered each player city within the realm the construction of a "Town Banner" and "Teleporter" linking thier respective cities to the "hub" as it was referred to, a soon to be constructed area within the fairgrounds. The crowd brewed with excitement as she went on to describe her enjoyment in the enrichment that player run communites bring to the realm and the possibilites open to those existing and future cities around Chesapeake. After much discussion it was agreed that all player cities who wish to "apply" for the teleporter combo may email either of the EM's at the following addresses to schedule a visit to be considered:

                                      EM Dudley : [email protected]
                                      EM Vladmiere :
    [email protected]

Ideas and suggestions, complaints, and kudos aplenty were discussed in the well over 5 hour roundtable. A sense of looking ahead could definatley be felt as we thanked our EM team for the great night of debate within the realm. Further ideas can discussed each week as the Moderators themselves host the "House of Commons" each Sunday Night @9pm just north of the Brit Moongate in Trammel. Be sure and join us as we shape the community as whole in the hopes to bring us all a bit closer together in the lands we all hold dear. Thanks Mesanna , Dudley , Vlad, and all who's attendance and thoughtful ideas made this evening a great success.

for Help to Find Missing Son!

Click the image to open in full size.

“The harvest was meager this year; we barely had enough gold when we were done selling our crops and pay our rent and taxes. My son Jes, went to work for Owen and his wife Sara who keep a large flock of sheep so we could make ends meet. Jes never came home and I am worried about him.

I went to town and asked about Jes and no one would tell me anything except for Nana and Brother Ray. I heard from Nana that Jes went by her shop to get some bread and that Owen’s sheep had gotten out into woods. Jes had Owen’s sword in case he ran into Orcs and that’s the last anyone saw of him; there’s no telling what he ran into out in those woods.

Now what you have to understand about Owen is that his father fought in the war against Keeonean Minax's general. Owen tries to lord it over us that his father was a war hero and that he has a legendary sword called Tyranny made long ago by Father Alexander and the monks of Yew Abbey to protect the Town. I heard rumors from Vincent that the Orcs are getting out of hand and the Orc war parties are rampaging through the woods.

Owen and Sheriff Brax are both rich and we can’t get a straight answer or justice from them; they ran me off and told me to stop asking questions. I am a poor man and I can't pay you anything but I need your help to find Jes. That's why I need the Royal Britannian Guards to help me, good Queen Dawn always stood for what is right."

Notes: Help Farmer Sam find Jes by interviewing the townsfolk of Yew and searching the woods for clues.

    Hello Catskills,

You may be wondering, as I have, why there has been very, very little news posted for our shard. Also, why has somebody from Baja been putting up announcements?
Well... Sara of Baja has been nice enough to put up announcements for us while the Catskills news team has been slacking off some. Unfortunately, the reporters of Catskills may still not be able to get out there and write up our own reports on events... but we will be working to make sure we get any announcements and reports submitted to us posted.

Unfortunately... the last time a news submission was received by the UO Catskills team was May 21! So this is where you all need to help us - send in your announcements and reports to [email protected]
As soon as they're received, it will either be posted as news or one of the Catskills reporters will let you know why it can't be posted. We'd love to have some nice, detailed reports come in about the EM events that Kasaven and Cernunnos have been giving us, as well as reports from community events like Hawkeye's Boat Races, or The Alliance's hunts.

    Halloween Houses 2009

There is a Halloween House Tour rune book locked down at the Baja Award House & Museum.

Following the Fall Festival/Bazaar, EM Seppo and EM Pallando led a tour of the Halloween House entries.  Due to the large number of people on the tour, I revisited each of the houses later to get screenshots.

    "CRIME SCENE

Please do not touch anything. There is a current investigation to determine the cause of death of the Girl Scouts. Please note that there is blood and gore inside. If you are sensitive to morbid scenes it's recommended that you not go inside.

If you have any knowledge of events leading up to the murders of the Girl Scouts, please contact the Skara Brae Authorities.

    Thank you."

Demented Pleasures School of Medicine At Zento Halloween Party
(By the time I got screenshots, the party was over and the party goers and band had left.)

    "Halloween Costume Party
    by Dr Henry Jekyll

Welcome to the Demented Pleasures School of Medicine at Zento annual Halloween costume party.

Every year we like to hold a costume party for our current and former students.  This gives them a chance to mingle and talk about new techniques in medicine as well as cut a little rug and relax.

Every year the first year students work very hard to clean the facilities, so that all the lab tables and gurneys are clean enough to eat on. They are also responsible for cleaning up the next day, which can be worse than cleaning up before the party.

The middle classmen have the responsibility of providing the refreshments and entertainment. I think this year they have outdone themselves. One of the students had his mummy make some delicious backed goods, and the milk is aged perfectly. For the alumni we have brought out some bottles of our very own harvest wine. I am concerned about the eggnog bowl on the first floor as it smelled of alcohol. This year's entertainment will be handled by "The Crypties". I am told they are all the rage among the younger crowd but it sounds like wailing to me.

The job of decorating the campus fall to the graduating class. The students use this opportunity to show off their surgical skill by carving jack o' lanterns and signing their names to them.

The first floor will remain setup as a lecture are to provide patrons a quiet place to siet, eat, and talk. This year the third floor potions and draught lab has been emptied to provide room for dancing and the undead entertainment. I am sorry to say that we were not able to find suitable facilities to temporarily relocate the contents of our morgue.

The alumni of the school provide the candy for the young trick or treaters that show up.  This year they have supplied a tub full of candy.

The faculty hopes that everyone has an enjoyable time and a Happy Halloween.

PS: Please read the book entitled 'Necronomicon Ex Mortis' located on the benches in the lecture hall for normal information about the school.

    Dinner Disaster

Origin I need your help! In a moment of sheer madness, while still giddy from the Fall Festival, and telling all the other EM’s how great Origin’s community was, I somehow volunteered to cook a pre-Thanksgiving Dinner for all of them! Yes, yes, I don’t understand how it fits either, but there you have it. I’ve volunteered to cook dinner for the whole lot of them!

I’ve gone through the pantry and kitchen and find I’m sadly lacking in many needed items. I’m begging for your help in getting ready for this dinner. I know I can count on the great community we have on Origin to pitch in and help your poor EM out of this pickle she’s found herself in.

Meet me at the Origin Award House on Saturday, November 14th at 6:00 p.m. Pacific (7pm Mountain, 9pm Central, 9pm Eastern), and I’ll hand out the “shopping list”. The first person to return with the most correct items within one hour will have my undying gratitude! Not only that, but I’ll even put up a tribute in the Award House commemorating your help!

Your very thankful EM, Faine Morgan

    Fall Bazaar 2009

Upon arrival, I noticed a smorgasbord just packed with some of EM Seppo's and EM Pallando's favorite treats, including Sauteed Eyeballs, Freshly Chopped Finger Salad, Sliced Brain and Leg of Ettin.

As the opening time approached, the area started to fill up with people who had stalls and those attending the festivities.

Robert the Ranger arrived announcing there was a crisis that needed to be resolved before the Fall Festival/Bazaar could continue. Robert informed us that all the Harvest Wine had been stolen and we would need to go defeat the thieves and get the wine back for the festivities.

Robert the Ranger transported the crowd to where the stolen Harvest Wine was being held, and a mighty battle ensued:

Poor little Billy Scrantin had never before seen such mayhem and ran to hide in the trees.

Meanwhile, the warriors were gaining ground on liberating the Harvest Wine from the fallen thieves.

Once the wine was recovered and everyone was back at the Skara Brae Faire Grounds, EM Seppo and EM Pallando started the fall festivities.

As always, people lined up to have their fortunes told by The Widow.

At center stage, the costume contest was held.

    Some of the costume entries:

    Cebo as candy corn

Jinx & Sara as a smurf and smurfette

Nicholas the Old & Magdalena as Superman and Wonder Woman, the Justice League!

    Go-Dive-a as Lady Godiva

WildStar as a Girl Scout with a cute pet

Lady Aranel Who as a savage

    Orphan Annie

Fomortiis as a controller with a golem

Heavenly Axe, who came on stage as a bloodworm, then transformed into Batman!

    Harry Potter

    Congratulations to:
The Smurfs, Sara and Jinx, first place
Justice League, Magdalena and Nicholas the Old, second place
The savage, Lady Aranel Who, third place.

There will be awards for the winning entries placed in the Shard Museum.

After a short break, the Story Telling Contest began:

    Entry 1: Magdalena

    Entry 2: WildStar

    Entry 3: Cymidei Fier

Winners of the story telling contest will be announced on EM Seppo and EM Pallando's website goldenbrewtavern.com

We then departed on a tour of the Halloween House Decor Contest which will be covered in a separate post.

    Yew Attacked by Orcs

Posted on Monday, November 9, 2009, 2:41 AM EST by Mapper (Europa)
    >>> Trammel Facet News <<<On Friday a mysterious device was found on the road south of Stonekeep, Yew.

Along with that Traveler discovered a book inside Mericles cave which mentioned an attack on Yew at '8 o clock sun time'. These had me worried over the weekend and on Sunday I received a tip the attack would be that night.

At Sunday, A little after 7:45 I headed towards Yew, It seemed quiet and I thought the best place to stay was near the mysterious device on the road.

At around 7:55 the Commander of the Royal Guard, Fynn Barrett arrived and asked myself and a few others who had arrived what this device was.

Sir Bolo mentioned to Fynn that there was a note just south of the odd device. We walked over and Fynn read the note.

Lady Flame had taken copies of notes found in Mericles cave and placed them on the ground for Fynn and everyone else to read, Fynn seemed confused by the Orcish language and just as he was asking a question an Orc Gate Technician came down from the road.

After the Orc had been killed we rushed over to the device on the road, A moongate was now glowing. On further inspection it was an 'Orcish Moongate' and lead to the Orc camp just west of Cove.

Suddenly the gate made a noise and a large collection or Orcs and Ettins appeared. The battle was on.

First came small orcs, then orcish mages and onto orc brutes. After a good 10 minutes they stopped coming from the moongate and we healed the wounded and gathered up near the gate.

We slowly went through the moongate and found an Orc Gate Commander and Orc Gate Guardians.

After the Orcs stopped coming to us at the mountain we went south, further into the camp.

Finally, It appeared we had the Orcs killed. Inside one of the rooms we found a book titled 'Orders'. It had both an Orcish and English order. 'You must secure the release of Big Bob from Britannia Prison'.

A guardsmen from Yew stated Big Bob was held at the prison, We rushed over to the Yew Prison via the moongate the orcs had created.

Big Bob spoke heavy Orcish and seemed to say the orcs would destroy our cities.

The Royal Guard Commander Fynn Barrett took his leave and told us to try question Big Bob further and if we found anything out to report it straight to him.

    Shard Meeting With Mesanna
    Thursday November 12, 2009 At 9:00pm EST

Click the image to open in full size.

This Thursday at 9pm EST Mesanna will be hosting a discussion
regrading the link of Player Towns. That will be at the Fair
Grounds in the Big Blaze Tent. Mesanna will also be able to
answer the questions on the Rune book area for Luna Bank.

The Fair Grounds is located at the South exit of Luna city.
Once you enter walk all the way to the back. Original proposal
    is below.

City Gate Connection Proposal To Mesanna

After reading the forums, icqs and in game discussions I have written out a more formal proposal. Everyone seems eager for the community meeting with you. Obviously I only spoke to people to sort of get a feel and try to have a general organized discussion when we all meet. I do know one thing from experience. We will most likely get a few naysayers and people that can come up with more complaints off the top of their head. Then we can give answers to that are meaningful and well thought out. So I really hope this proposal, even if not approved opens everyone's eyes to helping build our shard community and perhaps even spark some peoples interest to start a player run town.

Proposal: Linking currently established, active and community oriented player run Villages, Towns and Cities together.

Who:Communities already well established with a history of in and out of game community building. Along with promotion of the internal general community. Communities that are public and welcome everyone not just a select few. Player run communities that are a collection of individual people, groups or guilds. Also a well established area connected by buildings owned by various players.

How: By use of land placed teleporter tiles, moongates or sparkle teleporters. Which leads to a central location inside of each player community that wishes to link to it.

Why: Promote and support each others community work in the Chesapeake shard area. To also have a physical representation of connection between each community. Which will also gives each player run area easier access to each other and an easier ability to be located by new or returning players wishing to be apart of a player run experience.

Maintenance: With this idea a certain amount of simple maintenance would need to be done. Over time new communities will arise wishing to be connected to such a device. Along with inactive communities over time already connected to it needing to be removed. A simple check list could be done by the shard EMs to see if the community area is able to receive this connection. Which will be sent up to the head of the EMs, Mesanna for implementation. This check list will however not have EA/Mythic officially recognizing or say what constitutes a player run city. Keeping EA/Mythic out of any debates or problems on having to officially recognize a player city. It will however decide if a community should be connected to this device.

    Examples of connection:

[*]The feast of the Harvest Moon will be at the end of the month. Exact date
and time TBA. As well as the Epic conclusion of the Lord Balandar quest line.
Exact date and time TBA. So stay toon'd for those!

[*]There is still small patches of undead spawn at times. Sameul still needs
help. Watch Reuben. Not as strong as Halloween night but still happening.
Still some loot drops thats all I have.

    Questions

I have a question regarding the player towns that I heard you mention. How
many houses in a given area does it take to make it an official player town?

This is something up for discussion and will be covered in more detail with
Mesanna. I can tell you this though. It will be defined and implemented
cross shard. And is at the top of the discussion that we've been having.
But that will be covered in more detail on Thursday. ~!Em Dudley

When you say town houses, everyone has to be in the same guild as others to have a town?

I'm going to hold off on those questions until Thursday. This is something we
want to see work because it will be uber cool. And it has to be done right, so
we wait for the all powerful Mesanna.

    (Didn't catch the question)

We will not release when and where the reward will be given. Nor how many
will drop. Halloween mini drops are still happening on small monsters. Don't
always expect the boss has the drops. They can come on lesser creatures.
Lanterns can still come on creatures like Lanterns, Sashes, Jug of bones,
    Pumpkin wine. ~ Em Vladimere

Commander Drake Foxx Address the Gathering

The King's Own is a fractures remnant of what it was. But, still they are at large. I anticipate the caravan will not doubt be raided by brigands, thieves, and all matter of ne're do wells. So this is no trek for the faint at heart! Need real warriors here! No fancy pants cry babies! Now there's more. I've been informed that Scarlet Von Trinsic the Nefarious thief has been apprehended and is in custody. It seems that the night of the Caravan she will be transported via prison card to the Court of Truth. Hopefully there will be no issues and she'll wind up in the clink where she belongs. But keep a vigilant watch that eve! The supplies are being gathered at the Warrior's Guild outside Britain. This is where both Caravans will leave from. One in Trammel on Friday night. One in Felucca on Saturday night at 8PM ET sharp! Dire for the Guards who count on that relief I'd say Von Trinsic? She's a stick fingered filcher from Britain to Bedlam. No doubt she's got something up her sleeve But we must remain vigilant. Well then it's settled. Shall see ya all at the Warrior's Guild. Sharpen your blades!

I've been in touch with Lord Balandar as well. Old coot tells me that he is close to uncovering the entrance into the Fury And once he does, In we go!

EM Event: Gorn Was Not Happy
Return to TopSubmit News! Comment on this article
Posted on Saturday, November 7, 2009, 4:29 PM EST by Lady Mana (NapaValley)
Here is the latest from EM Sangria regarding the event in Ter Mur!

    Gorn was not happy.

He had not liked being ordered to work with the wingless humans and elves. They weren’t needed and would undoubtedly interfere with the work that was needed to find a solution. In fact he suspected them of infecting the fish of Ter Mur. But such thoughts could never be put in writing. Hon-Aur had to be told of the events. Gorn had been finding reasons to put off writing his report to the Minister of Commerce, but he could put off the dreaded task no more.

    Greetings Hon-Aur.

I regret to inform you that we did not find the source that is infecting the Ter Mur aquatic life. We will need to continue to import fish from the human and elves.

You are undoubtedly wondering what happened that night, below I have written what transpired to the best of my ability.

I awaited by the docks, as instructed, for the human Maya Demeter and those she might bring. She ended up bringing a horde of humans and elves. The first thing she did was to send them off to look for evidence then ran off herself to inspect – a dead fish. Ignoring me. She ran by twice more before she made note of my presence and spoke with me. I wasn’t impressed.

We needed samples of those infected. The wingless ones human and elves began to fish. Maya Demeter and I tossed nets. Soon we were overwhelmed. Perhaps I tossed too many… *shrugs*

We quickly learned that the aquatic life that were infected were quite varied and all lethal. The worst were two Infectious Sea Deamons. They were especially horrifying. They slithered onto land then moved like giant serpents and were very very fast. They spit poison, shot out lighting and killed the wingless ones without mercy. I have included some images of the battle.

One of the wingless found a skull from a Gargoyle fisherman on one of the infected creatures and wore it like a helmet. I did not know what to think of this. Perhaps their skulls are softer than ours and need more protection. That could explain why they died so easily and often that night. Perhaps there is a market for head protection with the wingless.

I obtained samples of blood, flesh and scale from the infected creatures and have sent them to our scientists. Hopefully they will get some answers soon. I believe Maya Demeter and the other wingless did the same. It will be interesting to see if they come up anything worth while.

    Your Assistant, Gorn

Waking up that one morning to find the pirates was a nightmare I will never forget for as long as I shall live.

Upon rising I began to do my usual check of the shops and library buildings.. This is when I heard the noise. Looking out the library window I saw smoke rising from the chimney of 'The Blue Cow.'

That's not right, I thought. But perhaps Silvia decided to get an early start on the baking for today.

Running across the yard I quickly realized the smoke was hardly the biggest sign of distress inside the pub.

Loud voices and an awful smell were my first big sign. Peeking in the window I was horrified! There were men in my pub!

I missed the sound of boots coming as I sat wide eyed in shock and terror.
I let out a loud yelp as I was grabbed by the hair by a man the others were calling Captain.

He dragged me inside my own pub and threw me at a stool. From my position on the stool, I could see Silvia, our chef, sitting on the floor crying.

I could also see what had been done to my pub in what could have only been overnight. Garbage and broken furniture.. Bones of what I didnt know.. Nets dripping with salt water..

"YOU STOLE OUR LOOT!!!!" The man called Captain screamed in my face. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH IT!?"

My mouth gaped open like a dead fish. Loot? What was this man talking about? "OUR LOOT! Where is it!" Still closer down to my face.

I gagged as I caught the scent of the sour whiskey on his breath. For my insult, I was backhanded across my face.

From my new seat on the floor, I just stared up and could barely muster a low "What?"

"This land, Our loot was stored here. Our biggest heist, Our best jewels and riches. And now this... This building stands over where it should have been!"

Horror completely took me over. "But sir, I bought this land. I wasn't the one who started building here..."

"BUT YOU'RE HERE NOW!" The sickly sour whiskey scent hit me again. "So it is your problem now. We will not leave until we are given what belongs to us. IF we leave at all."

I watched as they tied Silvia up, wrapped rope around her wrists and ankles, then threw her back into her corner behind the cafe bar. I was given a scroll with what they believed I had taken from them, and their demands of me.

I was then carried outside and dropped roughly to the ground by the captains men. The captain standing just behind his men...

"You may not come back to this building, You may not have your precious Chef.. Until we are satisfied. If you do not return our belongings quickly.. Well you'll regret more then just losing your land and your chef."

The men went back inside, Laughing as I cried, Slammed the door of MY pub on me! The sounds of loud men and clinking glass resumed. I ran inside my shops and locked my office door.

Now was not the time to cry, Now was the time to find help!
I sat at my desk and penned a note...

    Quote:

    Kind citizens of Britannia,
I am in dire need of help!
Men that call themselves pirates have taken over one of my buildings at Mystic Garden.

The Mage, The Demon, and The Fragments. Friday, November 6th at 9 p.m. EST
    by Kasaven

Owain leaned his elbows on the old stone table and sighed heavily as if he had expelled weeks of disappointment in a single breath. He looked up from the journal to try to draw inspiration from his surroundings – the spilled potions and discarded herbs scattered about screamed their impotencies at him. Bones sat in an almost too orderly pile in the corner, covered in a tattered blue magician’s robe. The old mage, the plague. Few remembered Benedict’s laboratory, hidden by magical means in the lost lands, which is why Owain chose to take refuge here in his studies. He had sat weeks without food, and his supply of water had grown scarce. He opened his palm to reveal three red crystal fragments, and he carefully maneuvered them about his hand with his index finger, thinking, searching. The gem had been destroyed, killing the Shadow Lords and Casca, but the shards were still intact. They were the only devices which could lead Lady Dawn and Lord Owain to Robert – if he were still alive.

Yet Owain saw an even greater opportunity in the shards. They held a more potent power, even in their scattered forms. The power of resurrection. The shards began to glow and levitate above his outstretched hand and he closed his eyes to meditate. His mind flowed to his vision of Relvinian, the ancient mage, the undead with an army of demons at the hedge maze, and a sharp pang of wrong penetrated his senses. His eyes shot open as he quickly tightened his grasp upon the crystals. The door behind him burst with such force that it struck Owain squarely in the back, sending him flying into the wall as the three crystal fragments flew from his clutch to scatter alongside broken glass and discarded notes about the laboratory floor. A large, black demon burst through the doorway, collapsing the stone doorframe with her wings, sending rocks projecting about the room. Owain looked on with a face as grim as death as he recognized the demon. Ix Tab who had Invaded Aegis.

Her being emanated wrong and it made Owain want to wretch alongside the crusted remnants of potions on the floor. He pushed himself up and pulled his red, blazing sword from its scabbard as his eyes darted about the floor for the scattered crystal fragments. In a shrieking voice, Ix Tab raised her muscled arm to the air and spoke dark words that forced Owain to drop his sword and clutch his ears. A dozen ethereal demons appeared surrounding Owain, they grabbed his arms and legs and pulled, as if they were a rack destined to tear him to pieces one limb at a time. The dark demon pointed a finger to the ground and levitated each crystal to her hand as Owain looked on, helpless – the tendons in his arms began to rend and tear. He screamed, powerless to stop Ix Tab. He could only escape. He began to glow an azure light and the demons holding his limbs recoiled as their unworldly flesh burned and seared. He yelled quick words of recall and disappeared in an instant.

Kasaven and Cernunnos sat in the Counselor’s hall around the fire playing a round of Run. Kasaven flipped a card on the table and grinned, “It looks like you owe me another Ale!”

Cernunnos discarded the comment and quickly stood up from his chair, feeling something amiss.

The hall exploded in a flash of white as Owain appeared and immediately collapsed upon the floor, bloodied and pale. The emissaries’, eyes wide, rushed to his side. He only uttered two words before losing consciousness. “Fragments….Hedgemaze…”

Meet at the Counselor’s Hall on Friday, November 6th at 9 p.m. EST. The need is dire.

    Festival/Bazaar requires participation
    Wednesday, November 4, 2009
    By EMSeppo

    Hello Baja,

We need more people to sign up for stalls and other planned activities for the Fall bazaar. We cannot have a bazaar with 4-5 people participating. That would be more of a circus.

The stall signups are especially woeful. Every single day I witness players spending hours spamming their wares at Luna bank in front of a crowd consisting of largely AFK players. Why not try your luck at the bazaar for one day in several months instead? Not just for selling your wares, the potential is almost limitless as to what you can do and achieve. However, very little of it is possible without active participation from the community.

Consider this as a challenge to expand your horizons, look past all the unnecessary labels (Tram, Felucca, PvM, PvP, RP), and play the game in its true spirit for at least a few hours. I am looking forward to a rush of sign ups from you and your friends in the coming days.

    Trouble on the Waters

Queen Dawn had been queen for only minutes when trouble hit. Queen Zhah had stopped by to congratulate her on her coronation - and to ask for help. Queen Dawn reviewed her notes from her meeting with Queen Zhah. Undead aquatic animals.... It didn't make sense. Disease? Magic gone awry? Right now only Ter Mur was affected - and she'd like to keep it that way. The two queens had decided to mount a joint expedition headed by Maya Demeter the queen's newly appointed royal naturalist and Gorn, Queen Zhah's minister of commerce assistant to find out what was happening. Queen Dawn had a bad feeling they would need more help...

Greetings citizens! Recent events have unfolded, and an expedition is being mounted to investigate strange happenings to the aquatic life in Ter Mur which is affecting their commerce and food supply. Fishers and fighters are required!

Please meet Maya Demeter at 7 PM PST Thursday (11/5) at the fountain in the Royal City at the market area (a gate will be provided from the Ter Mur moongate to location).

    Regards,
    Lady Mana

    >>> Trammel Facet News <<<Greetings citizens of Britannia! News comes to us from the desk of EM Fiorella. Announcing...

    A Weekly Zoo Event!
Here ye, here ye. Queen Dawn has heard the request of the people to begin populating our Royal Zoo in Moonglow. She has assigned this task to her Royal Naturalist, Maya Demeter. Maya will meet with everyone at the beginning of each event at the Moonglow Zoo, Tuesdays at 7pm PST. She will take the names of the participants and note the number of points of the Zoo at the beginning and then at the end, this will usually be about an hour (longer depending on how determined you tamers are).

Each participant will put in their own animals with their own character. Remember it takes gold coins to help run the Zoo, too. Donations are welcome as well to assist the zoo. Perhaps gather a group for the hour and hunt with your friends if you chose not to tame, and donate to proceeds to the Zoo. Napa Valley deserves the best and we hope with everyone's help the zoo can be a wonderful community success.

Each week will be marked by an item in the Awards Hall with names of participants and point numbers of the zoo.

    Regards,

    Trubo’s Nightmare: Prophet and Prophecy
    Saturday, October 31, 2009
    By EMPallando

His mind awash in dark dreams, Trubo tossed and turned in his sleep, threatening to undo the bandages that covered much of his battered body.

Trubo’s face winced in mental stress as images come rushing through. Flashes and images, barely discernible, a collection of memories pooling and taking shape then dissolving just as quickly into the wreckage of his mind.

His nightmares settling at last, the images begin to slow and play out, returning to a time when the first dark seed was sewn.

    ——

    Prophet and Prophecy

It has been a day of strife. A mixture of dirt and dry blood crusts over my hands and face. I enter my Lord’s chamber with urgency. Blackthorn does not acknowledge me at first, seated with his face buried in the pages of a massive tome that I do not recognize. I wait patiently at attention. A few moments pass.

Blackthorn finally looks up, and it is now that I notice the lines of fatigue and stress that surround his bloodshot eyes. Running a hand through his disheveled hair, Blackthorn speaks hoarsely to me:

    “What news, Disciple Saius?”

His voice is resigned, almost dismissive. A pang of fear and worry shudders through me. I do not display emotion as I report though.

“British is fled, along with a majority of his followers. What remains of our forces are in full retreat and our hold on Trinsic and Minoc is tenuous at best. Disciple Zykos is dead, ambushed along with his guard on the road to Vesper. Disciple Calathar and his garrison have been expelled from Magincia by its ruling council for reasons unknown. I have ordered him to report to myself or Tyrius by the safest route. Also–

Blackthorn stands. I am unsure whether to go on. He walks casually over to the closest bookshelf, quickly selecting another tome and thumbing through its pages. I feel I should remain silent. His back to me, Blackthorn speaks again.

“What of Disciple Ravenia, has she been found?”

“No my Lord. Though we have received several sightings of her supposedly alongside the enemy, I place little trust in these reports.”

Blackthorn returns to his seat as I speak, his gaze not once meeting my own. Continuing to sound off what I have learned, my voice eventually trails off into nothing as the writing etched onto the pages my lord is preoccupied with absorb me as well. My eyes begin to ache the longer I look upon the these runes and arcane symbols that are foreign to me, but I can not turn away. A feeling of dread and wrong creeps into me.

A seemingly silent eternity of awe, fear and wonder pass and I am startled only by the touch of Blackthorn’s hand on my shoulder. Standing an arm’s length away, he speaks reassuringly to me.

“Steel yourself my old friend. For the weak there is only death and only darkness within these pages. But for the strong and the willing there is knowledge and power eternal, both ancient and untouched.”

Turning from me, Blackthorn closes the tomes. I sigh a sense of relief.
“And for us, Disciple Saius, it is the key to our salvation and perhaps, handled correctly, the path to a new and glorious age.”

Despite the pit of dark foreboding that forms in my mind, I find myself smiling.

    Origin's Halloween House 2009

    Halloween House 2009

For those who missed this year's Halloween House, you missed out on a perfectly demented puzzle!

Upon arrival, the house appeared to be relatively normal ... considering it was designed and built by Crystal! ;)

Fortunately I had read Crystal's post about the house really wasn't locked, one just had to find a way to enter.

I had navigated my way through the beginning of the maze, when I noticed a purple Stuffy had arrived, so I left the house to check out EM Faine's halloween costume. EM Faine relayed EM Laurana's apologies for not being able to attend, but explained she was with us in spirit.

As we stood outside and chatted, more people showed up to take the tour.

The house was a delightfully evil maze of dead ends, hidden doors and traps.

That's Lord Gunner manning the cannon. I wasn't able to capture the flash of the cannon being shot at an unsuspecting EM Faine.

From the cannon room, the path through the house took a lot of twists and turns!

In this area, the graphics surrounding the house did a drastic change! Crystal, just how did you accomplish this?!

Upon arrival at the final door, we passed by the cookie tree where an ebil brat, a skeletal Saug Arierin, and Marilyn Chambers each hand out trick or treat bags stuffed with goodies.

Thank you to Crystal, Gunner, Brat, Saug, Marilyn ... and everyone else who participated in the production of this outstanding Halloween House event!
