In Concept - Murderers
The following was updated to In Concept: Murderers and Statloss.

Currently we are considering two designs regarding murderers and statloss and have placed them here to elicit your feedback. If after reading this document you'd like to send feedback to us, please click the link below.

Statloss and Murder Counts
Once a murderer takes statloss, his short-term murder counts are reduced to four. This will allow the player to regain the lost stats and skills through normal game-play without having to take another statloss if they die. Note that "perma-red" status will still remain active and if a character "ping-pongs" between four and five murder counts a total of five times, they will be permanently "red". Under this system the long-term murder counts may need to remain in effect to avoid the issue of "blue PKs".

One-Time Reprieve
If a murderer joins any faction, he will receive a one-time reprieve. His short-term murder counts will be immediately reduced to four. This will be a one-time reprieve, hence any murder counts given to the character after joining a faction cannot be removed through this method.

If you'd like to send us your feedback on either of these designs, please click here.

Ceridwen poisoned & Red-Robe Mage
We have recieved the following:
The evening started normaly in the Britian Library while waiting for the meeting to start. Ceridwen arrived and soon after many more people started trickling in. We talked of the current events and we were soon interupted by Grythak. He poisoned Ceridwen and left a note that said for Ceridwen to stay out of everyone's bussiness. We learned that a 'Red-Robed Mage' knows how to summon Blood Elements. Myself and several others journeyed to the Britian Mage Shop to talk with a vendor name Macros. He told us that the Red-Robe Mage has been to the shop a few times and also told us wich direction to go. Drizzit stayed and questioned Macros further while myself and 2 others ventured south to the Healers. At the Healers we found no one that could awnser our quesitons, but on the way out there was begger that was asking for money. After the three of us payed him some gold and started off towards the Sweet Dreams Inn i asked the beggar, whos name is Malgon, if he has seen the Red-Robe Mage. The beggar suddenly got very nervous and started telling us that if he told anything, the Red-Robe Mage would return and kill him. After some time we agreed to pay him an emerald for some information. He told us that the Mage purchased very rare reagents from him. From what we could piece together, the reagent looked like nightshade but it was pure black. He also talked about 'Swamp Tentacle Root '. We do not know for sure if the name of this nightshade like reagent is called Swamp Tentacle Root or if that is a completley different reagent. He next told us that his boss was named Dervin. His boss handles all of the contracts to deliver the regs for clients. We also learned that this beggar and Dervin meet every two weeks on wednesday night, at no definite time. They meet in the abandoned warehouse north of the Britian Docks.

This is all that we have managed to learn this night.

Signed,

- Skyfire

Official Statement from OSI on Layoffs
The following was just told to us by David Swofford, Head of PR for OSI:

  • Richard Garriot: Was not fired. He left OSI on good terms to persue other goals and having been a co-founder of OSI remains a friend of the company. RG's interestes and OSI's interests did not lay on the same path.
  • Privateer/Wing Commander Online is not in OSI's current plans
  • There were 20 layoffs, no more are targeted so the rumor of 30 more is totally false

To Face The Elder Wyrms
Earnst sent us the following update about the IFC's quest to rid this land of the Summoners
To Face The Elder Wyrms

It had been told us by the mage Muldoon some time ago that, in order to rid Britannia of the threat the Summoners posed, a gate would need be opened which would banish them to a plane which had a particularly strong pull on the Summoners. The pull this plane holds on them is the reason the Summoners cannot be resurrected upon this plane, and is thus responsible for the atrocities they have committed upon our people. Upon a corporeal death, the Summoners spirits are pulled from this plane, and banished.

Muldoon has assured us there is a way to send the Summoners there even now that they have found a way to anchor themselves successfully to this plane with the spell, Des Suxitticon Corpirai. It requires we gather some rare reagents from some of the more powerful creatures that are known to have them.

So thus did we set out to battle the Elder Wyrms, in the hopes of obtaining an ancient necromantic reagent called Batwing.

With the aid of our friends and courageous warriors in the Avengers (UOA) we met prior to the infiltration of the Wyrms home, and prepared ourselves, discussing tactics, our individual strengths and weaknesses, and getting to know one another that much better. I for one noticed a great deal of people I hadn't met before.

Before too long, some of us deposited our prized belongings into our bank boxes, and prepared gates leading to the relative heart of the caverns within which reside many Elder Wyrms. One by one, members and friends of the Icelandic Floating Community stepped bravely through. One by one, we found ourselves in the darkened caverns of one of the most treacherous creatures in Britannia.

So did we prepare ourselves as we waited anxiously for the most ancient of dragons to notice us. After some time, one of our party fled to get the creatures attentions. He was not long in returning, a furious Elder Wyrm in tow.

We prepared ourselves, attacking from the flank, attacking head on, well-seasoned warriors counting desperately on well-seasoned war mages and well-seasoned healers.

I was struck twice by the creature and thought certainly would I perish, for the blows did send me reeling, staggering in the face of such an opponent. I backed up and as I pulled ready some bandages to mend my wounds, I realized I needed have no such worry, as I had paired with the lovely Luciana Diviner to watch my oft-careless back.

Others were not so fortunate, for in the flurry of excitement and battle, a few of our comrades were felled despite our best efforts. Healers Michael of York and Bethany of the LoY, as well as Cheyenne of the UOA stood at the ready, prepared to resurrect the fallen spirits so that the mages could save their mana to protect those still alive, and direct their energies towards the monstrous foe we faced together.

Again did the warriors step forward to face the creature, again did some of us fall, but in the end, it was inevitable that even this most powerful of dragons be felled by the might gathered in that small darkened underground room.

The dead and injured were tended to, and Eiryn cried out that we had found the Batwing!

There was a collective sigh of relief as we realized we had accomplished what we had come for. Eiryn quickly left to put this most prized treasure in the safety of his bank box, and we were once again faced with a maddened Elder Wyrm. Most likely it was roused by the deadly battle preceding.

We gathered our wits and once again faced off. This battle having the same amount of excitement and tragedy as the one previous. Warriors fought, mages healed, healers resurrected the fallen, and, as inevitable as it was in the first confrontation, the Wyrm was felled and we stood triumphant.

Though, oddly enough, batwing was not found upon this creature. Which leads me to believe tis much rarer than we thought previously. We stayed long enough to battle another, to see how rare or prevalent it was. As the third Elder fell, we realized how treasured this must be, and how imperative it is for us to get it to Muldoon.

As many of our troops left for home and the safety of a warm bed, we decided to leave the home of the Elder Wyrms, and to try our luck against the younger drakes and dragons.

With the exception of a fortune seeker looting the fallen creatures and our fallen comrades, all went beyond my expectations.

I want to thank the UOA, the LoY, the WSK, and all of those who joined us in our quest for this rare reagent, and one of our most trying battles to date.

Thank you, and may the Ęsir keep you all.

Earnst, IFC

Thankyou Earnst, and indeed you were lucky to find that rare reagent on your first try.
