Cabal Agent's Attack

Vesper, Yew, and Trinsic Attacked

From Town Cryer, February 8th, 1998

Liche Lathiari Terrorizes Yew

....I remember the trial held against the brother and sister Lathiari and Kyrnia. I remember the discovery of hideous experimentation necromancy. After the council ruled to banish these two from Britannia's mainland, the curse they put upon us sent a cold spike of fear through mine soul.

Now, that curse seems to be coming true. Lathiari reappeared in the fearful aspect of a Liche. Never before have I witnessed one mortal born take the step towards such a pure manifestation of evil.

As I was heading towards Empath Abbey I saw him...it...speaking to the poor citizens caught in the path of his undead horde. At first he seemed to be ordering his army with commands such as:

"hOlD bAcK tHesE roTting sAcKs of liFE"

"kIll tHesE mOrTals!"

"pAthEtic mEaT...oUr gOal bE NOT THEE..."

He then uttered the following phrases which hint at his purpose...

"ThInE vIcTOriES PaST shALL bE BurIED by tHE fuTure"

"yOu caNNoT stOP uS froM reGaining the ShRiNesTonE"

"My SiStER and I hAvE RetURNED. OuR BODiES havE ReNEWED StRength!"

"OuR PlaN wIll NOT FaIL AgaIN...We hAvE a NEW ALLY"

He then left the scene of the battle and headed towards a dilapidated house that he and Kyrnia shared a presence mysteriously absent from the proceedings...He seemed to have found something he needed...what that was...we cannot be certain. All we know is that after he left the house he stated...

"tHis baTTLe meAns NOTHING compared to WHAT WILL FOLLOW"

Trolls Terrorize Vesper!

...They were organized! This army was even led by two trolls. Brothers named G'Splat and G'Thunk...

So there I stood, eye to bellybutton, with the smartest trolls I had ever seen. Needless to say, I made a lame excuse and got the hell out of there. Not the bravest of approaches, but...well...I had just cleaned my shirt and blood is really hard to get out of cotton. Or whatever.

Eventually, the tide turned in our favor, and we pushed them back into the forest. G'Splat and G'Thunk were heard to call for help from some "Lady," but none was forthcoming. It seemed a very strange thing to do -- G'Thunk yelled, "Lady! No leave us Lady! Need Flee!" Perhaps it was just some sort of ruse to aid them in their retreat. That's just not a very satisfactory explanation, though. Hmm...Too many questions remain. How did two trolls manage to learn to speak, organize an army, and lay siege on Vesper? Why do they want the eastern part of the continent as their home? Who is this "Lady" they cried out to for help? Could a class in rudimentary grammar be made available to them?

Juo'Nar Attacks Trinsic!

While Trolls attacked Vesper and the lich, Lathiari wreaked havoc on the countryside near Yew, a warrior draped in black made prophetic statements to an adventurer near the Shrine of Spirituality.

Juo'nar is suspected to be in league with the Zog Cabal, the now infamous organization behind the assassination of Lord Hartham, one of Trinsic's most noble trainers. During the investigation of Hartham's murder, evidence was uncovered of someone embezzling both funds and weapons from the Paladin's Guild. The embezzler turned out to be Juo'nar, an impetuous young warrior who was recently entrusted with overseeing the funds and inventory of the Paladin's Guild.

However, just as the simultaneous attacks occurred in Yew and Vesper, he was seen near Trinsic consorting with a band of orcs. The orcs soon drew the attention of the townspeople away from Juo'nar and he vanished, only to reappear later at the Shrine of Spirituality. After brutally murdering three monks,he snatched some glowing item from the ground and threw it into his backpack. He appeared ready to leave at this point, but upon seeing Eric of MiRC nearby, boldly dispatching an orc, he stopped to converse briefly. A brief transcript of that conversation is posted here:

Juo'nar: YOU THERE! Listen well. I have what I came for.

Eric Of MiRC: yes

Juo'nar: The name Juo'nar will be known throughout the land.Tell your foolish masters that they're time has come!!!

Eric Of MiRC: I shall

Juo'nar: You're petty world of order means nothing to me now.!!

Eric Of MiRC: We will not stand for evil such as you

Juo'nar: I fear not your foolish words

Eric Of MiRC: I shall not attack you, I respect your strength,

Juo'nar: It would do you no good.

Eric Of MiRC: but I despise your ways.

Juo'nar: Despise me if thou wish, you will kneel before meas will all of Britannia!!! These monks were but the first to die!

Eric Of MiRC: Hmm.

Juo'nar: Your name will be numbered among the dead or the followers, there are no other choices!

Eric Of MiRC: I will be dead, never a follower.

Juo'nar: That is unfortunate. The world is preparing to move on.my order shall rule.

At this point Juo'nar seemed to disappear into thin air. What do his words mean? What was the item that he took from the Shrine? Is he part of the Zog Cabal? Or something even more diabolical? Unfortunately, it is feared that only the shedding of more innocent blood in Britannia may provide us with the answers we seek.

New Ally's and New Objectives.

These three all have some obvious patterns. With the exception of the troll attack on vesper, it's clearly obvious that the attackers are not seeking bloodshed, as much as they're seeking "shrinestones" and something else. Also, they seem to consistently mention a "new ally", whoever that may be. I suspect that the attackers may be referring to each other. However, the Juo'nar picked up what may be the necklace that Lathiari and his sister researched/created to protect the life of the wearer. If there is a new ally that the three of them serve, wouldn't this be a neat thing for them to give their leader?

This 'plan' that Lathiari refers to is indeed a mystery. He says that 'their' plan will not fail 'again'. This would indicate that he and his sister had indeed formed some kind of plot that was thwarted somehow. I would imagine that the second part of their biography will help us understand what plan he spoke of.
