Uhh... He's not here anymore...

Blackthorn pulls off the most interesting of dissapearing acts

Have You Seen This Mage??

Our Lord Blackthorn (M.I.A.)

Several months ago, Lord Blackthorn was seen being escorted ("escaping") through a Red Moongate from the hunt to find and kill the Evil Lord Jou'Nar. Several weeks later, he was seen again, this time in the depths of Covetous, running from hiding into yet another Red Moongate. No explanation was left for this dissapearance, and noone has spoken to the man since before these events. It is assumed that Lord British mourns the loss of his friend (although noone's seen nor heard any such sorrow expressed)

The question exists, Where is he? Why did he leave? Who opened the Red Moongate?

Some have suggested that this Red Moongate is a mirror of another moongate on Britannia's "Original" shard. If this is true, I suppose it can be assumed that what happened in Ultima V (?) just finished, and Lord British there has just given Blackthorn the choice of the red moongate. Following that line of reasoning, I suppose we can believe the following idea presented to me in e-mail:

One other thing about Blackthorn. In Ultima 7 part 2: Serpent Isle I read hat it was rumored in the game -and supported by one of the in-game books- that when Blackthorn was banished through the red moongate he ended up on Serpent Isle, one of Sosaria's four original continents. There he became a monk by the name of Braccus and assisted the Avatar's party in their quest to Serpent Isle.

You can find this information at this Ultima site:

Braccus is in the Monk Isle section of the "Who's who of Serpent Isle" Following your previous surmise, maybe it is possible that Blackthorn ended up on the new continent to be "discovered" this fall?

This is an interesting possibility. If true, it would open up the amazing belief that our shards are loosely tied to what happens on the"original" shard of Britannia. So, You can expect me to be exploring the new land in "UO-Gold" for a monastery of some kind... hopefully Lord Blackthorn will be discovered there.

This is a radical idea, and requires belief in something that would seem too impossible to accept. However, it is the only theory put forward thus far that has some "evidence" supporting it.

Again, the question looms, who opened the red moongate.... why? from where? Where did it lead? Why did Blackthorn leave?
