Sage Humbolt Dies hunting
the Lich Twins.
A Sad day indeed.
Sage Humbolt dies, poisoned by the lich twins whilst excercising
his weapon on them. |
I received this e-mail from a very helpful player about how the good
Sage died:
Aye, the good sage is dead.. He had found a way to destroy
the liches, by destroying their hearts. He knew they would be found
at the bottom of Deceit (in the crypt at the last level), but he could
no tackle them alone, so he gathered adventurers. While his assistant,
Sage Winslow, tried to find people in Britain, Humbolt went to Deceit
and spoke to the people there. After a while there was enough peolpe
and they entered the dungeon. Humbolt knew he was seeing the light of
day for the last time, for touching the black hearts of the liches would
kill him. But he was prepared.
From about 50-60 people when the group started, on some servers only
15 or so people reached the crypt, for the dungeon was filled with liches,
lich lords, and other nasty undeads. And in the last room, Lathiari
and Kyrnia themselves were there to defend their (un-)life. Problem
is, they were both tagged as invulnerable until Humbolt did his thing
with the hearts, and the were quite powerful spellcasters (Obviously
played by real people). So another bunch of people died, as Humbolt
ran for the hearts (the liches did not attack him for some reason).
As soon as he reached them, he said something about being poisonned,
and died. And the liches lost their invulnerable tag. With all the people
still around throwing all manners of spells at them, they still lasted
for a good 2-3 minutes! Then Winslow appeared out of the blue and "picked
up" Humbolt's body, and on some shards GATED the people out of
there (while on others he just disappeared again).
That's pretty much it.. The event started on the east coast earlier
than on the west coast (well, with the time difference, maybe it started
all around the same time, or at 1-2 hour difference), that makes it
easy to see the entire thing, if you miss one you spy on the next one
:). The liches or Humbolt did not leave any special item behind, and
quite a few people died on that eve. But their reign of terror has now
come to an end!
Although now I hear we will see G'Thunk make a come back :)

So, why were they created in the first place? |
This has me baffled. Why create them, just to kill them? I can discern
no legacy, no lasting impression left on Britannia by the lich twins,
OTHER than Sage's death....
Anyone have any ideas??
