Gilthas - Good evening and welcome to our 33rd Ultima Online Celebrity Chat. The UOCC is a forum wherein we bring to you celebrity guests from the UO community ranging from OSI personnel to famous players from your very own shard. Guests drop by to answer your questions about UO, their experiences in it, and their contribution to the community.
Gilthas - Our guest tonight will be Hanse, OSI developer and bug killer. While we are waiting for questions, let's give our guest a chance to introduce themselves.
Hanse - Hallo...
Hanse - I'm Hanse, designer on the UO Live team
Hanse - Mostly, we'll be discussing publish 16's bulk order changes
Hanse - Which is what I worked on for the next publish...
Hanse - And with that...Gilthas will introduce our question takers

Gilthas - Tonight's question takers are [QT]Magellan, and [QT]Lord-Xanthor. All you need to do is /msg or /query a designated question taker with your question. Please do not ask the other operators, or the guest your questions; they will be ignored!
Hanse - Please don't message me privately... I cannot hope to answer everyone's question that way.

Gilthas - *Companion_Black-Ram[Ches]* So hanse will there be large tailor bods for the tailor craftable bone armour then ??
Hanse - Yes, all tailorable items will be in the form of small and large bulk orders... some items may be in multiple large bulk orders, too...

Gilthas - *Simkin[SUN]* ask what they are going to do about keeping PvP balanced with the new power scrolls, and how they are going to avoid turning PvP into pure warrior/pure mage fights and kill the "uniqueness of the characters"
Hanse - I did not work on the balance of PvP with regards to skill/stat scrolls. That would be a good question for our next UOHOC, though.

Gilthas - *Aella* When will the publish be activated and will the tailor BOD's be active right away?
Hanse - Publishes depend on QA and their readiness. So, I cannot give a firm date.
Hanse - Although, when the publish is available on the shard you are on, you will be able to get tailor BOD's at your local tailor merchant. :)

Gilthas - *Azimuth* What is going to happen to people who own a house on seige and people that alos own a house on a regular shard? If people upgrade their house on seige, will they loose their house on their regular shard?
Hanse - Another good question for the next UOHOC... Prophet and Vex would be good folks to ask that of. I worked on the BOD system and not housing, this round of changes.

Gilthas - *BryteStar* Please, a yes or no answer. Are Clothing bless deeeds a BOD reward? (please say no)
Hanse - I'll not say yes or no. We're not giving information on the rewards except for low-end to allow you folks to discover them.

Gilthas - *subbot* will you be able to cast reactive armor with the new leather types
Hanse - That's part of our testing process. I've tried it with low armors, but the AC is different (as with magical leather) and may affect RA.

Gilthas - As a reminder, please do not PM people who aren't question takers or the guest, that includes myself. Your questions will be ignored!
Gilthas - *Barrackas* Will the new leather types have any different appearance in-game? You could do some new gump art (for 2D) and texture maps (for 3D). If not that, then new hues maybe?
Hanse - Ah, was wondering when Barrackas would ask... :)
Hanse - No, there is not any different artwork.

Gilthas - Please see the channel's topic for our question takers.
Hanse - The system is too varied. The amount of art would have been large.
Hanse - We're talking about a huge set of leather items to craft
Hanse - Even boots give a significant (although you may not consider it) AC boost when crafted with barbed leather armor.
Hanse - So, we opted for descriptions (single-click text) to identify the items. Although, the leather dye tub will function just as it has before with this publish.

Gilthas - *Alex_Dragondeath* will there be more clothes and suits of clothing to make, and will they be in the bulk order system?
Hanse - No, no new clothes were introduced for the tailoring BOD system.
Hanse - Although
Hanse - The new colors from the low-end rewards make clothing look very different.
Hanse - You'll be able to check new colors out soon. They're not too difficult to get. :)

Gilthas - *Rei_KGB* How many high-end BODs are given since the introduction of BOD system? Throughout the entire shards.
Hanse - With all the data and the spread of shards, I really don't know. We culled those log files before creating the tailor bulk order deeds and made adjustments on those numbers.
Hanse - So, the last information I had was a few valorite deeds were given out.
Hanse - Nobody has received a valorite hammer, last I checked, though.

Gilthas - *Alex_Dragondeath* will there be more clothes and suits of clothing to make, and will they be in the bulk order system?
Hanse - No new clothes, as I already mentioned.
Hanse - Although, suits of clothes are part of the large bulk orders.

Gilthas - Whoops, double-post. Sorry about that.
Hanse - And some of those large bulk orders were pieced together from leftover craftables...so they may not seem to be a suit...
Hanse - Something to note...
Hanse - The tailor bulk order system is slightly different from the blacksmithy system.
Hanse - It's tougher to gather the individual deeds to fill a bulk order.
Hanse - While the platemail large bulk orders were hard to fill, because of their requiring 6 pieces.
Hanse - Although, chainmail only had 3 pieces.
Hanse - And ringmail required 4 pieces.
Hanse - Ringmail was lower than chainmail, which it shouldn't have been...it's more difficult to fill...
Hanse - So, the number of pieces in a large bulk order for tailoring defines its reward...not the difficulty to make the items...

Gilthas - *subbot* What will happen to the leather we have now? could i be stockpiling leather from dragons or will it just turn into some weak stuff?
Hanse - It'll stay the same leather. Currently, UO does not know that dragon leather is better than leather from mongbats.

Gilthas - *Rockie* One of the reward cloths shown on the website a while back looks like the darkest evil mage cloth that no longer spawns. Is it (the darkest evil mage cloth) or is it not going to be a reward for tailoring bods?
Hanse - Well...
Hanse - If you want to know the technical info... :)
Hanse - That hue is actually the nightmare color.
Hanse - The hue used on mage cloth.
Hanse - Nightmare color has a hint of blue in it.
Hanse - Infact, it's a dark blue scaled to black.
Hanse - Although, the new hue that was made as a reward for the tailoring BOD's is a "true" grey (equal red green blue).
Hanse - And, it's a darker hue... To the eye, in a screenshot, it may look similar, but it's really different.

Gilthas - *Companion_Black-Ram[Ches]* we know that there will be an easier chance of getting large orders in the tailor system than large smith bods, what are the approx percentages?
Hanse - Actually, I don't have the statistics with me right now.
Hanse - I do know that it's roughly 400 BOD's less because of the color variants (4 tailoring colors vs 9 blacksmithy colors).
Hanse - That should give you a good idea how flattened the curve is towards random orders.

Gilthas - *Steveo* the new leather wil increase the AR that mages can effectively wear, this combats runic weaponry, but what about ordinary GM weaponry?
Hanse - We still have some way to go with this publish. Testing is continuing. :)

Gilthas - *Companion_Black-Ram[Ches]* so hanse is there anything about the bod system you wish to tell us that noone has asked about yet?
Hanse - That's kinda broad... I'm more interested in what you have to ask. :)
Hanse - Although, I'm surprised more smiths aren't on asking about the new low-medium rewards.
Hanse - But, the new tailoring system is neat to discuss since it isn't available yet...
Hanse - I'd have to say what I've already said before. Blacksmithy is changed and has a flatter curve for deed offerings and rewards.
Hanse - This means it is easier to get deeds that give you a reward.
Hanse - Although, the rewards are very potent and we do not want to flood the game with them.
Hanse - Tailoring, on the other hand, does not affect PvP.
Hanse - Hope that answers your broad question... :)

Gilthas - =P
Gilthas - *aeg|UDL* Is BoD coming to Siege or not? There was a rumor it was not going to come to SP...
Hanse - Yes. Definitely.
Hanse - There is a new option to view your time status until next BOD.
Hanse - It is accessed using the context menu.
Hanse - Siege players cannot sell items to NPC's. The context menu option allows SP folks to get BOD's.

Gilthas - *ScurvyBOB* So Hanse, will there be only one kind of each color runic hammer or will we see low end valorite hammers and high end ones?
Hanse - There can be only one Valorite hammer... :)
Hanse - Seriously, the hammers were not subdivided into different powers. That allows for scams. We're doing our best to avoid those situations.

Gilthas - *Lector-UDL* Seige P had a different rule set when it went live and mages were allowed to wear studded without effecting the med rate ... we have had bleeds into our shard that this rule is no longer true.. Will Seige be getting the new BOD's and if so with the new leather what effect will it have on the med rate?
Hanse - I'm going to point the finger again. * Hanse smirks.
Hanse - Adrick would know about any ruleset "bleeds" or crossovers, as I'd call them.
Hanse - For armor PvP, in this case...It's a good question and I'll look into researching it. At this time, I don't have an answer...
Hanse - I wasn't aware of different armor rules for SP.

Gilthas - *what_new_rewards_hanse* there's a rumor (i've heard) that if you sell a certain item (smithy hammers i think) at a certain smithy level you get a better reward is that true or just a rumor?
Hanse - Selling high or low quality items does not affect the deed you get.
Hanse - Although, your skill does influence the deed you get. With publish 16, you have a higher chance of getting a colored item and exceptional item at GM skill.

Gilthas - *Nuke* Will lower end tailors receive the same skill jump for completing a BOD that smiths have?
Hanse - Yes. Skills are 0, 50, and 70...70 skill being required for exceptional, colored, and large bulk orders

Gilthas - *UOx0r* Will normal shard players have to continue selling items to get their BOD's or will there be a context menu for them too?
Hanse - You will continue to sell items (small gold/resource sink) and you will get the context menu to see how long you need for your next BOD offer.
Hanse - Okay, you're not asking questions. :)
Hanse - Seeds, boxers, etc... I'm not the person to ask. :)

Gilthas - OK, one more..
Gilthas - *UOx0r* Does your fame status effect the BOD you get or is it only the smithy skill?
Hanse - No, it doesn't. Your fame gain is constant for any bulk order you turn in.
Hanse - Depending on the value of the deed, of course.
Hanse - Fame status does not affect BODs you obtain.

Gilthas - OK, this is REALLY the last one!
Gilthas - *Rei_KGB* Is there any plans for players to trade BODs more efficiently?
Hanse - Nope. The trade window is what you'd use. :)

Gilthas - I lied.
Gilthas - *Companion_Black-Ram[Ches]* the new bone armour, i'm assuming we have to collect the bones from the bone mages in deciet, will they spawn on any other creature and will we be allowed do dye the bone? hehe
Hanse - Well, you'll just have to discover what you get bones off, won't you? Sorry, we didn't make that information available in our last patch *grins*.
Hanse - Actually, I've already hinted at where bones will come from.
Hanse - Fishing and dungeon adventuring. That doesn't necessarily include monster killing. :)
