Felucca a safer place?

In Ultima Online we have the luxury of choice. We have the choice to play how we want, to have fun how we want, and most importantly, to find people who are like-minded and create a friendship that can grow into a team which makes up a guild. No guild can survive without dedication, perseverance and a lot of times, sacrifice. There are lots of wonderful guilds on Atlantic, guilds that have proven there worth by sticking it out for the long haul. There is so much diversity amongst the active guilds that you can do basically anything you want to do in the company of friends. Whether that means doing peerless, being a pirate or helping new/returning players get back on their feet. Then we have my personal favorite, The Felucca based guilds. A lot of the "Fel" guilds are all about the spawns, faction fighting,"The Gate", etc... Then, every once in awhile, we get a breath of fresh air. Anyone who spends any amount of time in Fel knows how important "fresh blood" is to our community. Without new people to liven up the scenery we would get stuck in a rut with the same people, day in and day out. Who wants that!?! I had the pleasure of meeting Chad Sexington, brand new to our shard, and Founder/Guild Leader of "Team Newb". This player definitely takes the award for thinking "outside the box" when it comes to Felucca. How long have you been playing Ultima Online? "The very first character I ever made was on the Pacific shard in 1998 (Or maybe it was 1999, I can't remember, I know it was definitely T2A.).... I then died 5 times with 5 different characters and didn't want to wait 7 days to delete one of them, so I then made my next miner on Napa Valley. (Someone should have told me you could resurrect. O_o) "That's the story of how I first made Napa Valley my home." This isn't the first time I've told this story. ^_^" When did you make the move to Atlantic? "15 days ago on November 13th, 2010. One day before the Atlantic Llama Festival. I've been away from UO for almost a year and I didn't have time to play my thief, so I decided to try something new. This new experiment was dependent on guilding as many people as possible, so Napa Valley was out of the question. Atlantic has always been known to have the highest population between shards so it was an obvious choice. It was also made sense to move to another shard to try something new. --And I hope you're going to ask about the Llama Festival because it's kind of important to this story. ^_^" Well then by all means! Tell me about the Llama festival! "Okay, so truth be told, I didn't even know the Llama Festival was going to happen the day I transferred off of Napa Valley to Atlantic. I just had this idea in my head and I just went for it. The day after I transferred, bank sitting at Luna Bank, I see a yellow NPC announcing an event while he stood next to a permanent gate. (Both of these things were foreign to me coming from Napa Valley & Siege Perilous.) So I went in waited an hour and the Storytelling event of the festival began." "I ended up winning 2nd place with the prize being a Silver Llama Statue. I then sold that statue a week later for 350 million gold pieces -- 200 million of which has already gone into funding my new idea. So everything kind of fell into place. (I also ended up losing 1st to someone named "The Llama King." Go figure.)" What was the inspiration behind founding "Team Newb" ? "It's an idea that I've had ever since Virtue Armor was introduced into the game. It's an all 70's resist, blessed suit of armor. It's the same idea that popped back into my head when New Haven was created and even more blessed items were introduced into the game. And it was at that time when I opened my mouth in the original Stratics U.Hall thread about New Haven, about a potential "Newbie Army that wore nothing but Virtue Armor and blessed items." And if you remember, originally all of the New Haven items had different properties and were much better. One of the EA Mythic employees responded, "This is not intended for some type of 'gimp' army." And they then proceeded to nerf all of the equipment a few days later. So... I guess it was my fault it all got nerfed. (Oops.) And I decided to do it now because like I said, I don't have that much time to play. The Mis-adventures has already come to and end with 300 episodes and if I ever wanted to do it, now would be the perfect time. This is the type of guild where I (hopefully) won't have to be online all the time." Where are your guild's headquarters? Have you all established where you will be centrally located? "With nothing to lose, no supplies to horde, and no gear to lose, we're not really in need of a headquarters. But still, I went ahead and bought a small Fel Yew house plot and planted an Ankh of Sacrifice to resurrect us from our many, many embarrassing deaths. It also serves as a place other people can donate an Virtue Armor or other blessed items to support our cause." Are your "Mis-adventures" planned? Or do you plan to operate on situations of opportunity? "I have some ideas about adding to the website, but I can't talk about it yet. But it won't be part of the Mis-adventures. That's going to remain strictly for thievery purposes only. And no, we don't use ventrilo (yet). Besides, in a guild where anybody from any guild can join, on a shard where you can have 7 characters per account, I think people may value their anonymity." Do you plan to be a faction guild? If so, what faction alliance are you leaning towards? "No factions for 2 reasons: #1 This is the type of guild where anyone from any guild can make a newb to join the guild -- no questions asked. And when you have people joining from many guilds (hopefully) it might be a problem. They might already have characters in a different faction. #2 (The more important reason.) Is that we're trying to make Felucca safe from murderers. This is an attempt to make red & blue matter again. All of the newbs are going to be blue (due to Noble Sacrifice as our only means of resurrecting each other) and that means a war on all reds." Do you feel this is going to create some animosity towards your guild from reds that are in factions fighting opposing factions? "Hopefully, crosses fingers We're actually quite harmless is groups of 2 or 3... or 4... maybe 5? If not 5, then maybe 6. Potentially 7. Don't quote me, but I think we get deadly at 8. Maybe 9." What kind of impact are you wanting to make in PvP? "The impact that I'm wanting has less to do with PvP and more to do with Felucca. The goal is to have non-pvpers move back to Felucca. It always bugged me that today's UO treats Felucca as if it's an arena like Unreal Tournament or Modern Warfare. That's not was UO was when it first came out. And it's this same reason why I decided to move to Siege in the first place. But today's UO isn't going to change back to the way it was no matter how hard people shut their eyes and click their heels together. Everyone in favor of today's UO always tell others to adapt. This is just my adaptation. --At the very least, it'll be funny to die in Virtue Armor from time to time. (I have simple needs.) (More to the point, convincing people to believe the garbage that comes out of my mouth and trick them into joining the cause -- and then watching them die in Virtue Armor from time to time whilst taking embarrassing screen shots of us all. But you didn't hear that from me.)" What kind of templates are you encouraging your "newbs" to play? "There are only 2 requirements for Team Newb: #1, 105 Chivalry and 55.5-75.5 Spellweaving as part of your final template. #2, You can only wear blessed equipment. The idea is to have an army of blessed newbs who abuse spells that were made for armies of blessed newbs: Noble Sacrifice, Gift of Renewal, and Summon Fey." If you had the ear of a developer, what changes would you like to see made in Ultima Online regarding PvP? What changes do you think would bring more people to Fel, and more importantly,to UO? "I would tell them to make a true Classic, pre-AoS server. That's the only change that matters. Everything else is just a bandaid. I used to have a pvp mage, but I haven't pvp'd in nearly 5 years. The day I got double flamestriked and e-bolted in less than 2 seconds from a guy -- while he ran circles around me -- was the day I quit. The day I quit pvp was the day I started thinking about the Mis-adventures. I would tell you the whole story, but that would take 300 episodes... (-_-') "Unfortunately, I doubt very much that a true Classic server will ever be created.If that's the case, then I guess people will be relegated into coming up with goofy ideas which may or may not interest other people (like mine) to keep them pre-occupied." Do you have any advice for new to PvP players or anything else you would like to add? "Just want to add that this idea will only work if other people participate, so bring friends.(How else will I take embarrassing screen shots of you dying? Royal Guard Training November 16, 2010 By: Merik In Attendance Wilder [MERX], ananan, Squanto [BiC], Shumer [EmeG], Sir Underpants [SUP!], Mark West [K~S], Vampire's Wrath, Lady CaT, Nyx [OATH], Lord Robin Hood [DWxC], Blacktorns the Archer, lazyman [OATH], Harq lal Dracona [MERX], Lord Pinho [DWxC], Tip-Toe and Gareth the Mage You can now sleep a little easier… Gwen Irina who has demonstrated great courage earlier this year in the Lost Lands desert by rescuing Jamison Tort was reassigned to the Capital city of Britain. Over these past few months she has secured the township summit chambers, Royal Guard training and patrols, investigated the death of Chief Detective Sheffield and much, much more. It comes with no surprise that this exceptional Royal Guard has been promoted to the rank of Captain. Commander Drake Foxx performed the ceremony before the Royal Guard training on Tuesday the 16th. The Royal Guards assembled also witnessed this historic event at the Barracks located in the Royal Castle. Commander Drake Foxx “I have a very important announcement to make. As many of you are aware, our world is torn. It stands at the brink of a great conflict with a force currently unknown. Many of you have shown great valor. Many of you have displayed insurmountable courage in the face of our enemies. I have been in long talks with Her Majesty and she agrees with my assessment and recommendation. First Lieutenant Gwen Irina step forward. It is my great pleasure and honor that I do hereby promote thee. Congratulations, Captain Irina. As part of your new duties, you shall be charged with the Command of the Volunteer Royal Guard Unit. As you have been doing so, you shall now continue in an official capacity of the Volunteer Royal Guardsman, First Regiment. You've earned it!” Captain Gwen Irina “It is with great honor and pride that I accept this promotion, Sir.” Captain Gwen Irina took no time to celebrate the promotion. She went straight to work, ordering the Royal Guard to fall in. Reports had come in that scouts from a force based in Malas, have recently been testing the guard forces in both Umbra and Luna at intervals. The Royal guard after a short inspection we’re ordered to the lair of Meraktus. Captain Irina used a special runestone provided by legendary mage Balandar, to open a gate to the entrance of the Labyrinth. The training held in the Labyrinth covered the following areas: Scouting, Cross healing, Securing vital areas, creating guard posts and of course team work. After about forty-five minutes of fighting, the champion of the area sent its most deadly fighters to engage the guards. Tormented Minotaurs quickly devastated the lines and quickly turned the well ordered guard into a guard of chaos. Commander Drake Foxx and Captain Irina quickly made their way to what remained of the front line and began reorganizing forces. Once the confused guards were reorganized support healers were brought in to heal the wounded guardsmen. Unfortunately shock waves of death energy once again devastated the lines as the champion of the area showed his face. The royal guard somehow managed to muster enough strength to defeat the champion and its most deadly fighters. This will be a mothly article, and it will list all the player run events on Legends shard scheduled for the month. It will be updated constantly so check back here often if you are interested in attending player run events. Note: I will only be providing events up until the second week of December, due to the generally busy schedule of most people during this holiday season. ecember's Player Run Events: (December 1st - 5th) Date: Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 Event: HighSeas Story Night & Net Toss Location: ? Time: 9:00 pm EST - ? Host: Rumil of Lorain Gather friends and foe alike, and bring your wildest storys. Come share tales of adventure, fame, and fortune with the gathered crowds. Afterwards make a few new storys while you scour the depths of the ocean in search of sunken treasures. Dates: Friday, December 3rd, 2010 Event: Maze House Run Location: a Fluffy Bunny's Maze House (gates provided) Time: 9:00 pm EST - ? Host: a Fluffy Buny After everyone is gathered at the door, they will be unlocked, from then, the first person to make it to the end of the maze will be the winner and will recieve a goody bag! Event: UO Holiday Card Contest Dates: 11/14/10 till 12/20/10 Host: Mentiras Gather your UO family and smile wide! I'm hosting a UO holiday card design contest. Simply find a good setting gather you UO family and take a screen shot, then add a "inside the card" caption. The picture must display your UO characters, but it doesn't have to be a screen shot if you are artistically inclined. Please note however, if you choose to draw, paint, etc a card, please include a screenshot of your character so we can see the likeness. Entries will be judged from the 21st till the 22nd, and the winning entry will receive an extra christmas present. (December 6th - 12th) Date: Saturday, December 11th, 2010 Event: Find Fluffy 3 Location: ? Weigh-Ins are every Sunday night from 8:30pm - 9:00pm ET. This weeks catch is the elusive "Stone Crab" found in the waters of T2A. Guardians of Valhalla Create a Massacre at Bucs Den

. Guardians of Valhalla Create a Massacre at Bucs Den ~ It turned out to be a lovely autumnal evening that the G-V Guild planned for a shard wide net toss. Many people gathered at the G-V banner which is placed infront of the G-V Rune Library and Museum. The group was gated to small boats at sea. Gates were provided at the Luna Bank also. A few deep sea creatures were raised and slaughtered. It was a very civilized hunt indeed. Little did the crowd know this was just a little warm up. Little did the crowd know they would be witnessing one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, massacre on Great Lakes. Scalis after scalis was summoned only to get revenge for being disturbed from its deep sea resting place. The plunder and great number of deaths cannot be described but below are a few screenshots to give one the idea. This lovely autumnal evening turned to wet salty slimy decay. Death's Rage By EMCrysania Father Murdock paced up and down in front of the crypt where the old wizards body lay entombed. “Fool! Just when I had it where you were beginning to bend to my ways...you go and attack a dragon!” “Worse yet the dragon now carries part of your soul! It was not intended to be the dragon that acquired such!” he raged. Did you know how long it took me to organize the Order of the Light, a false Order, filled with those that had been turned away, or discharged from the priesthood, for one thing or another? Making them think they had another chance? Never knowing that they were in fact going against all they claimed to believe? “What time I have wasted, getting those monks to trust me enough to do my work! Pretending to be a priest! Wasted, all wasted! They were chanting my spells, not that they knew it was such, but yet, it was working! Your mind was being brought to the dark side, your soul corrupted and ready to be used Blast that dragon for showing up when it did!” Hearing footsteps coming down the hallway, Father Murdock hastily knelt in front of the crypt as if in prayer. ”Father Murdock! Thanks be to the gods I have found you!” Friar Diamante cried out. “There has been word sent that the dragon has been found hiding in a cave, she convinced the townspeople not to kill her, saying that the Wizard cursed her at his death! Saying that she has a part of the old wizards soul, the townspeople are willing to help her find her compassion and soul! The vile creature takes a life and thinks it deserves to live.” “The beast found and is alive?” He asked in amazement. “Yes Father Murdock, it lives, and seems to have a name. Tiamat is what it called itself,” the young friar replied. “Perhaps not all is lost after all. I will have to go see this dragon,” Father Murdock said with a smirk, glancing towards the crypt. “Lost? We lost the great wizard Father,that enough is to warrant the dragons death.Surely you mean to put it to its death!” “Not just yet Diamante, We must insure that we get the wizards soul back before we put it to death, if not, it will be lost” Father Murdock replied. “But Father, the old wizard is dead! What use is his soul now? Surely the beast must perish regardless!” Spinning around, Father Murdock faced Diamante. ” Don’t question my actions! Now, take me to this beast, let me see for myself what is happening with it.” Walking beside the young Friar, Father Murdock’s mind was reeling with the new found knowledge that the old wizards soul had not been lost. Now all that mattered was how was he to retrieve it from the dragon. For when he figured out how, he would be the greatest dark wizard that had ever lived. The realm was ripe for the taking, unrest already was happening from other troubled times. He had to move, and move fast to reclaim what he had been preparing the old wizard for. His soul...to be merged with the His...

Shivers Dancing Down my Spine I searched through Umbra for a friendly dine, Arriving at their City here.. Imposing and grand austere.. Vamp's Lair is where my travel end's this day. Follow me as I find my way. First a court solemn to behold Circling in their gentle fold. A Dark Tower rises next in view, The smell of something a bit askew Lounging there in opulent fashion still A High end theatre fits the Playbill. Things of Note: After speaking with one of the Merchant Lords (Lord Amroth) I learned the city of Vamp's Lair, was actually named after the large amount of Vampire Bats in the area. They are the Eternal Protectors of Umbra upon the Shard of Catskills. Their Leaders he informed me are Lady Pandora and Lord Marius. Their main exports are stone granites and mineral iron. Currently a new trade Center just opened up by the west bridge of Umbra. Owned and ran by Jonas Callahan. The Plague [Plotline] Yew’s final stand. Progress was not unlike a house of cards – it had to be built up slowly and with great precision, each move calculated and planned in advance. Act too fast and the house falls apart; put too much pressure and it will crumble. The slightest mistake or moment of idleness can result in the collapse of the entire structure, erasing all the long and delicate work that had been invested. For years the Guardsmen Militia struggled to bring a measure of order and security to the province of Yew, carving out a sufferable existence for the peasants. For decades they laid their lives on the field of battle to defend the interests of the Crown and consolidate their borders. For so long the Protectorate Council craftily introduced reforms to expand the views of the narrow-minded peasantry and to bring Yew out of the intellectual pit in which it had resided. And in one day, like a house of cards, all that immense effort was blown away with the emergence of the plague. Seemingly when the night fell Yew was still a province at peace – and at dawn, peace appeared but a distant memory. Nobody knew what had caused the plague, only that it appeared out of nowhere and spread like wildfire with disastrous effects. Whole regions were consumed within a matter of hours, the disease doing much worse than killing: the first symptoms that resembled influenza were just the start before berserk madness set it. Those who fell prey to the plague were not given the respite of death, instead becoming death’s own instruments in the form of disfigured savage creatures, rampaging and devouring all in their path, caring only to expand their destruction at the whim of some unknown will. The Guardsmen Militia of Yew, lulled by endless victories and weakened by continuous cuts in funding, was caught unawares. As the guards roused themselves from their slumber, region after region fell until the plague was on the very doorsteps of Yew Proper itself. Once the initial shock of the disease had passed, contamination and prevention measures were introduced, but did the guardsmen respond too late? There still was no cure, and if not stopped, would the plague swallow Yew in its entirety? And who could say whether the plague would not extend to other reaches of Britannia? Orion the Puppet Master

As noted in a previous article, Kate, our event announcer had been unusually tight lipped about the upcomming adventure. After our experience last night, I now fully understand why. The realm had been officially summoned by Queen Dawn, when she made her appearance she wasted no time with pleasantries. The gathered crowd was informed that the Orcs posessed a device that would allow them to infiltrate human society completely undetected. There were also reports that the orcs were massing sizeable armies, in fact all the Queen's sources were telling her that War may even be on the horizon. In order to investigate, the Queen dispatched Lt. Braddock with the aid of those willing and able from around the realm. Our orders were to determine if there was indeed a threat of war and to locate the Orcish Engineer who designed the mystery device. Initial reports told of massing orcs around the small orc fort towards the west of Britain Pass. Upon our arrival we were greeted by a larger than normal amount of orcs, as well as a few never before seen Orc Marksmen. Clearly the reports of preparations for war had been substantiated. After the majority of the fighting had subsided and the area was safely under controll, the group set to work looking for clues. It did not take long to locate the frightened orc scout, cowering in the corner of the fort. After some strong words by the crowd, and even the Lieutenant, the now frantic scout finally cracked. He told us that he was recieving orders from a General who was currently planning from the Orc fort near the city of Cove. Again it was clear that the Orcs were indeed preparing for war, and this leg of the battle was bound to be far worse than the skirmish we fought at the Britain fort. The Orc marauders were an absolute menace, they alone could have destroyed the group, as big as it was, if it was not for the skilled healers in the party this is surely where the story would have ended. The group however did prevail! And when faced with a now very angry mob, the Orc General gave up most of his information as well. The information the General would share with us put the group on the trail of the Engineer, and took us to the Orc Cave. Inside we were harassed by scouts, bombers, lords, choppers, mages, and even a few Orc Sorcerers. But by this time the group was out for answers and would not be stopped. I almost feel sorry for the Orcs we encountered in this cave, the sheer speed that the huge party moved forward with was awesome to say the least. When the group finally cornered the Engineer, it turned out that he was not the Engineer afterall, just a lowly apprentice. Who soon gave up his master in return for freedom. You cannot immagine the shock when the group learned that the Engineer was mere yards away from our initial skirmish, just east of the small orc fort outside Britain in a small cave in the mountains. Before he would reveal anything of signifigance the Engineer "tested" us with a gigantic Clockwork Orcish Magi. Thats him in the bottom left The Engineer revealed that Orion the Haunted had mastermind this attempted "war", he also revealed that the device we were sent to locate created "Big Majik Flippers" which transform Orc into Humans and vice versa. The fight won, the crowd gathered the spoils, and went their ways. One of Six They are tan colored Lieutenant Braddock had this to say, ""It seems the evil one is broadening his efforts. Undermining long standing peace, the Queen will surely issue the order for his capture or execution now. At all costs he must be dealt with." So it seems that the realm will once again be summoned to do battle with Orion the Haunted, and probably very soon at that.

[News] Capturing the Fort - Gideon Evades Capture. Royalist Regiment To Be Formed. By WarderDragon On the evening of Wednesday, November 17th, Mercenaries and Adventurers from Britannia and the Old World gathered to heed the Call of Jenkins, Lord Captain Commander of the Royalist Britannian Guard. Their purpose? A covert strike against the Stronghold of Gideon - Former Trade Minister and War Criminal of the Heartwood Regime - who at great personal expense and hardship managed to evade authorities and build a Cartel in the lawless region of Tortoise Lagoon. It is Gideon who is responsible for most - but not all - Blackrock Shipments smuggled into the Realm of Queen Dawn. Since her ascension the the substance has again become illegal and crates discovered on merchant ships and caravans are immidiately confiscated by the Guardsmen Regiments. This has created a strong demand in the black markets of Luna and Buccaneer's Den. Gerek - Clothier to the House of Gilthas - furnished the disguises that transformed Alistair the Thaumaturgist, Mistress Proserpina, Nephyths, Nicholas Tarrant and others into the infamous "Orc Slavemasters." The Vanguard of Britannia - now disguised in the enchantments of Shamaness Fere Cloam - proceeded to the Stronghold where it seems a Shipment of Orc Slaves was long overdue. Alistair and Nicholas - modulating their voices to disguise their true identities - managed to convince the Mistress of Gideon that this was the fifty captured Shadowclan Orcs meant to be put to work in the Blackrock Mines. The ruse worked. The Enchantress opened the gates and led them to the Central Watchtower. There the 'Slavemasters' - wasting no more time - revealed their true identities and surrounded her. But it was too soon. The Soliders in the employ of Gideon - hearing her screams - boiled down from the mountain crags and overwhelmed the outmatched Vanguard. But after a long and gruesome struggle the Champions of Queen Dawn managed to defeat the Soldiers of Fortune and capture the Blackrock Mine. However the Mistress of the Stronghold managed to escape in the confusion. Gideon was not to be found amongst the dead and is presumed to have escaped either during or before the Vanguard arrived. The following evening Jenkins - writing from the bed chambers of Queen Dawn no less - penned a missive to be distributed to all Royalist Batallions throughout Greater Britannia. "Hail, After seeking the permission of Queen Dawn, I hereby announce the formation of a new regiment that will seek to control the fortification left behind by Gideon. [B]It is a prime opportunity for the Crown to establish control over the Lost Lands.[/B] There is no doubt in my mind that others will seek to control this area. Some might even be friends of the Crown in other affairs. As such it is paramount that we rush to the fortification and establish our presence there at the earliest opportunity. [News] The Return of the Giant Turkeys!

The Return of the Giant Turkeys! This morning the towncryer told me to go to Al Wilson at the Moonglow Zoo. I remembered him from last year when giant turkeys walked around the lands. I went to see Al Wilson and it looks like last year we are having a giant Turkey problem. After a talk with Wilson i asked him again after a brush to find the Giant Turkey nests. I know it won't take long to find me some giant turkeys. They are appearing all over the land. Near the Lyceum on Moonglow seemed to be a nice place to find several of them. Fighting these Turkeys alone in a melee fight it as good as a attacking a paragon Ancient Wyrm naked. So i called my friend Loewenherz to find me some turkeys. He is very skilled in provoking and Discordance and thats very handy against these turkeys. After defeating them you can get a part or a full map with the location of a nest. Loewenherz was so kind to give me a map. After a short walk i found the location that was marked on the map. After using the brush on the map and then on the ground a nest was revealed. There is a little reward in the nest inside a bag. Also destroying the Giant turkey eggs can give some nice extra rewards. Have fun hunting the turkeys ! Last year brave citizens tackled 450 fishing nets and a mass of leviathans... This year, Someone new is in our waters... Osiredon the Scalis Enforcer! This year, On the 3rd of December at 8pm UK Time the FCB is back with the ULTIMATE net toss! Over 550 nets will be tossed! The action will take place on the brand new Zento Docks, Three boats have been setup, equipped with the latest cannon technology to help defeat these evil water filled enemies! We'll be aiming to spawn as many Scallis one at a time as we can, as well as plenty of Leviathans for those rare artifacts! Bring yourself and plenty of bandages for a night that really is unmissable! ---------------------------------------- DETAILED INFORMATION Cannons We have 9 cannons setup between the three boats and will supply the ammo to fire them, You are welcome to use them as they will be crucial against the Scallis. Remember you need to have High Seas to access the boats and cannons! It would help if you could bring your own ammo for the cannons if you do plan to use them, As the supplies will likely run out! Net Tossing The FCB will begin the toss and continually keep tossing nets, When a Scallis does appear they will stop until it's defeated. You are welcome to bring your own nets and toss them also, You can ONLY toss nets from the South ship, The other two and docks are too close to shore. Resurrection We will have a resurrection spot just near the Docks for those who do die during the battle. Do I need High Seas? You will need High Seas to access the three red ships, However for those without High Seas you will still be able to access the docks and you can indeed attack the Scallis and any other monster that spawns as well as loot them and receive artifacts! . Dead Turkey on the Brit Bank Roof ! ~ Those very large aggressive Turkeys have appeared in the realm again. The turkey is one of the most famous birds in North America. In fact, Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the wild turkey, not the Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States! The turkey's popularity in America is huge and the main centerpiece of most tables on Thanksgiving Day. Turkey's are popular on Great Lakes this time of year also. Just stop by the Brit Bank to watch the crowd attack and kill this oversized beast. The rewards, maps and adventure is the same as last Thanksgiving which is a blast for those new players and those that could not attend last year. This holiday which is also celebrated in the realm is an American one. For those that do not know the history it centers around Pilgrims and Native Americans ( Indians ). The Pilgrims arrived in Massachusetts in the later part of November and sought a suitable landing place which ended up being Plymouth Rock.. On December 11 they signed the "Mayflower Compact" - America's first document of civil government and the first to introduce self-government. The Pilgrims began building shelters, not very good ones at that. However, unprepared for the starvation and sickness of a harsh New England winter, nearly half died before spring. Assisted by helpful and generous Indians, they learned the ways of the land and gardening. Because of this successful harvest the Pilgrims declared a three-day feast, starting on December 13, 1621, to thank God and to celebrate with their Indian friends. While this was not the first Thanksgiving in America (thanksgiving services were held in Virginia as early as 1607), it was America's first Thanksgiving Festival. When we arrived we was asked to help gather ingredients, but the royal cook couldn't understand them. Once they was copied into books we was each handed one. We was told we could work in groups or alone. As soon as we had our books, everyone took off in search of what was needed. Each item needed was scrambled, so in order to read them, we had to figure out what they were. After everything was gathered, we had to return back to the royal cook and turn them in. Congrats to the Oath team for finishing first and being first to have their plaque on the wall!

Britianian Fried Chicken to Recieve a Large Donation of Livestock...

Last night was Legends monthly Battle Chicken tournament, and while there were some faces missing we were also pleased to welcome a few new faces to the crowd. Right off the bat, the crowd could tell that there was something unusual about tonights fights... it wasnt until the end of the night however that we discovered exactly what that was. The first few round of fighting flew by, the chickens seemed to sense something was amiss and were dealing some huge hits to each other. When the last bout was called, Sis Draper and Hunter S Tompson entered the arena. One "early withdrawl" and two restarts later... Legends had its first TKO! Sis Draper's battle chicken Bazooka, would no respond to orders at all, every manner of coaxing was tried, and nothing would provoke the little guy to battle. So EM Helios and EM Ikaris were forced to call a TKO, making Hunter S Tompson this month's Battle Chicken Tournament winner! Shortly before the TKO was called This however was NOT the end of the night, after prizes were awarded, there was not a single battle chicken in the arena that would follow commands. Is this the work of some unseen evil tryin to disrupt the fun, or have our battle chicken simply gone on strike for more feed and less training? A spokesman for BFC said the company would gladly accept donations of uncooperative livestock... (something to think about you chickens) (crispy fried battle chicken... Mmmmmm!)

Autumn Dragonfish This weeks side bet will be for the top three Autumn Dragonfish. The pot which will be rolling over from last week, will be split between the three fishermen. 50% 1st place 35% 2nd place 15% 3rd place Anyone who was registered for last weeks side bet will also be re-entered into this one. You do not have to pay the entrance fee. All newly registered fishermen must pay a 100,000 gold fee to enter. Registration is 11/22 to 11/24. No one will be allowed to register after the 24th of November. To Fell A Tree

It started out as our usual training. Formation was made and we stood in lines and at the ready. Lady Danica Amandine had called Herman up front to address him about aiding the enemy. Now, she was threatening to lecture for two straight hours. A few groans could be heard among the ranks, but most stood attentively. Danica began to tell us of her childhood. Her free life, her parents' reckless behavior. Her sister who had blamed her for their parents' deaths and sent her away to live in the woods. That was where Lord Simeon Bennu had discovered her and took her under his wing. He taught her about Order, Responsibility, Honor, and Courage. But, he also taught her that there were two sides, Good and Evil. She told us that sometimes the good person wears white, and shiny armor and speaks of Virtue. But sometimes that figure can be the evil side as well, she said. *“It is your own judgment what you do. But you WILL be held to answer for what side you choose. And you may not choose both.”* The lady knight had begun to go over the tasks she had in store for us when something started to happen to her. She seemed confused, perhaps disoriented, as she turned to look about. *“Feels like someone just walked right over my grave.”* Those were the last words Lady Amandine spoke, for as we watched, she seemed frozen in place. Many of us stood wondering exactly what had happened to our commander. The more daring began to cast spells, attempting to free her. Suddenly, there was a cry of alarm. A figure in a white hooded robe stood atop the Crux Ansata Headquarters, watching us. As many made demands to know his identity, he stepped down from the roof. “For those of you that do not know, or have not heard of me. I am known by many names. Lord of Time, The Time Lord, so many. So many... I am charged with keeping balance and keeping the timeline moving forward. I can not allow disruptions. I will not allow certain things to happen. As such I have taken your friend here. And her sister. And frozen them in time until I can come up with a solution.” “So Bellatrix is her sister,” Biggs spoke what many of us were thinking aloud, as The Timelord continued. He told us Bellatrix was working with a force that didn't care about our world. They sought to rip something from our world, from our very existence, just to have it as a knickknack. My own guess, based on my chance conversation the night earlier with Bellatrix, was then proven correct. The Timelord confirmed that she had been looking for the bones of Zog. “She is searching for the corpse of the one that destroyed the world more than 700,000 years ago. I can not interfere without creating a balance. In order to stop Bellatrix in her tracks. I had to stop Danica as well. Do you understand? The balance must be held.” He spoke then of the task he had for us, stating that if we accomplished it, he would have another mission for us. Ultimately, if we succeeded, he said that he would show us where the bones of Zog were. Either way, with Lady Danica frozen, there was little choice but to accept his task, whatever it might be. “Bellatrix has planted a tree... one of many. But this one is dangerous. She has begun working with the city elders of Umbra. You will, or you will not, travel to Umbra, invade the town in full force. Burn, pillage and do what you will. But destroy that tree at all costs. Do that, and I will assist you with the recovery of the Bones of Zog.” I was personally not surprised that we would be sent to Umbra to destroy something evil. One glance at the city and I was filled with a sense of unease. When we arrived, the tree was quickly located. A tall and twisted thing, it grew atop the tomb on the north side of the city. The guards and the wisps began to attack us in force when they realized why we were there. We split into 2-3 groups, taking on separate forces at the same time. All of the darker denizens of that foul city seemed to rush at us in defense of the tree. When they had been dispatched at last we took on the tree. The battle was long and difficult, but in the end we were victorious! Back at the Crux Ansata Headquarters, The Timelord congratulated us on a job well done. He told us he could see past, present, and future, and that the Knights of the Crux Ansata have a grand and glorious future. *“There is much to do before I reveal the location of the body of Zog to you. Danica will remain here. She can not be harmed in this state. Nor can she be muddled with.”* As The Timelord vanished, the crowd began to disperse. I took myself back to Magincia to put the tale to paper for you all. I was glad to see that no more wisps were patrolling the isle. Perhaps tonight's battle had given them pause. One could only hope. Later that evening as I sat by the fire tending my wounds, I wondered what The Timelord would ask of us next.

Christmas decor and decorated trees are popping up all over the real world and soon UO Christmas trees will be making a strong show. I spent time last week decorating my Luna Manse for the season. During my deco madness I came upon a shop I would like to share with our readers. This shop is owned by Manh Andle Mei and called Little Vendor Shop. Needless to say this smart business person has the shop already decorated for the season and one can find vendors full of holiday decor and gift items. The cords to this shop are 81o 34'N, 24o 7'W but the easy way to find it is just exit the Luna City South Gate. Wedding Bells for Lord Elrick and Lady Myticalangel

Today in a beautiful and light hearted wedding ceremony, Lady Mysticalangel and Lord Elrick professed their love for each other in front of friends and family. The elegant ceremony was presided over by EM Helios and EM Ikaris, who did a wonderful job decorating, and provided equally as beautiful vows. And without further adieu, the Wedding Photos. After the wedding ceremony we retired to this beautifully decorated castle rooftop for some refreshments and fun. If you'll notice in this photo our EMs cannot hold their liquor... And as always when the party is winding down there will inevitably be someone whos had waaaaaaaaay to many. Congratulations to you both, the ceremony was wonderful!

Dragons of the Midnight Mage By WarderDragon Three nights have passed since the New Britannians gathered to hear the pleas of Priest Murdock - Reverend Father of the Order of Light - whose prophet and teacher had disappeared several evenings prior. There had been a Beast, he announced, an ancient devil of some primordial epoch, whose bloated and scaled form had been witnessed against the light of the Twin Moons. The beat of leathery wings echoed through the trees as Hermits performed their midnight mass somewhere deep in the mist shrouded wilderness of the North. Murdock feared that the Master of his Illustrious Order - the enigmatic White Wizard - had fallen victim to this predacious beast. But hierophants and tonsured ascetics - given to tending vineyards and contemplating the nature of the Divine - are seldom equipped to be travelling the countryside hunting predators and demons; whether it be a Black Dragon, a Werewolf, or the Archduke of Hell. Thus it fell to this armed band of treasure hunters and thrill seekers to find the Prophet, if alive, and exact revenge on his murderer, if dead. It was not long before the adventurers tracked the beast to her lair. But in a surprising twist, the beast offered scant resistance, and instead allowed herself to be escorted back to the Town Square of Britain. (Wise. Because we all know there is no safer place to interrogate a beast that could swallow a horse whole than the Town Square during the middle of the evening.) There the Dragon explained that she had, in fact, murdered the White Wizard, but it was alright now because she had been Cursed for her Deed. Wait. What? You see, the White Wizard, with his last dying breath, had managed to cast a spell that would steal a portion of her soul. In turn, it would merge hers with him, creating a strange sort of bond between Man and Beast. It made her ... 'Human.' In exchange she lost her ability to fly and perform spellcraft - the things that made her a Dragon - until such a time that she learned the meaning of Compassion. It now fell upon us, the Citizens of Britannia sworn to run her through and hang her head from the Castle Gate, to teach her Compassion. Why? So she can become a full Dragon again. (... and eat us.) One might think these wise and brave adventurers wouldn't fall for such a ruse. But Lo, many of the same who had before promised the Reverend Father revenge for the death of the White Wizard were now agreeing to help the Beast regain her powers. Tiamat will summon Citizens this coming week to help her in her Quest to discover the True Meaning of Compassion. ... Meddle not in the affairs of Dragons, I say! For thou'rt crunchy and good with ketchup.

Greetings from *Your Wandering Baja Reporter Weezie!* This afternoon I have been talking with one of our Baja citizens that have been here since the beginning of time. My first visit was with Bastian, from the Brotherhood Of Honor Guild. He started the game in October of 1997. That would put him here before trammel came to be. We talked a bit and I asked him a few questions. The game is still alive and well for him with the new High Seas Booster Pack. Fishing is his favorite part of the new additions. A seafaring upgrade was his cup of tea for sure. He has many characters in the game besides his fisherman, twenty-two in all. Doing messages in a bottle and maps with his cartographer the game continues to be his passion. Meeting and greeting the people and places in Baja will continue! Beware! I could be knocking on your door to speak with you next!

Catskills Archery Contest

On the eve of Wednesday November 17, an archery tournament was hosted by EM Barnby at the Catskills Fairgrounds. Many citizens gathered at the fairgrounds to both participate and observe. There was much skill in all of the combatants as all of them have shown to be extremely accurate. The rouges lined up, two at a time, and were allowed five shots. The highest scores were allowed to continue on to the next round. The final round consisted of three sub rounds of five shots per contestant. The average score was then calculated to find the contest winner. After the contest had ended, Barnaby took a moment to tally the scores. The final four competitors placed as follows: 4th: 210 avg Liselle 3rd: 255 avg Vendetta 2nd: 280 avg UnvMe 1st: 305 avg Belle Congratulations to Lady Belle of the Royal Brittanian Guard for achieving the highest score of 305, to UnvMe of The Noble Knights for placing second with a total of 280, to Vendetta and Liselle for placing third and fourth place respectively, both members of The Noble Knights as well. All of the competitors showed excellent sportsmanship, had thanked EM Barnaby for hosting the successful event and had agreed to stand together so that a likeness of the moment could be created and serve as a memento. -Zuckuss

A Tale As Old AS... Antiques?

It started with Kate the Event Announcer, informing the gathering crowd that tonight our assistance was being requested by The Museum of Sosarian Antiquities. We were told "Be ready for adventure." Enter Pablo. This fine gentleman showed up, with muddied boots and apron and silently opened a portal, motioning for the gathered crowd to follow him thru. We emerged in Nujelm, and entered what appeared to be an empty museum. Once all were gathered inside the museum, the apparent proprietor showed and introduced himself. We then learned that Dr. Johan's father was an avid treasure hunter, who searched the world over, trying to gather treasures. Following some of his fathers writings Johan was able to tell us that his father, while on a treasure hunt, fell in love with a savage princess. He had not since been heard from. As near as he could figure Johan placed his father's last known where abouts, in the swamps south east of Dastard. So that is where we headed. Upon our arrival at the swamps, the group fanned out to look for any signs of Johan's father. We were met with resistance from the native savage people. The fiercest fighting however occured when we stumbled upon, the Savage Chieftan, and his Savage Guards. Lightning rained from the sky as the group, slowly, extremely slowly, figured out a strategy to defeat this savage wrecking crew. Upon their demise, a few adventurers found a Mask of the Savage Guard. Dr. Johan found information that led him to believe his father had taken part in a "proving" ceremony, in order to win the acceptance of the savage tribe. It is suspected that he did not succeed, as he has not been seen since. The ever helpful Pablo, opened yet another portal and on we went. The savage proving grounds proved to much for many of our group quite quickly. Ancient Wyrm, and snakes were the least of our problems when we discovered the true terror of a Primeval Wyrm. However the people of Legends would not be deterred, and were ultimately victorious! Some even made trophies of the Primeval Wyrm's teeth. The group could then take heart that they had "technically" passed the savage challenge. With the island clear, the group returned to the Museum, thanks and congratulations were graciously passed around. We were also informed that this would be just the first in a series of adventures that Dr. Johan and Pablo hoped to share with us. As of yet the museum remains empty still, it is my hope that Dr. Johan managed to secret out somethin to add to his empty dream.

[Report] The Spear of Antirez Destroyed! (Monday 15th)

So far the Guard know the following, Antonio was set a mission to reclaim the Spear of Antirez from a group of savages in Despise. He then dropped this off at a group of unknown people who then attempted to kill him and keep the Spear without paying.

The Royal Guard saved Antonio and he is recovering in Yew.

Tonight Nathan asked for any leads on where these savages may be, Nimuaq or Nimwaq (For Nathan) suggested the fort near Delucia.

Quote:

Nathan Hawke: "There is one south of Skara Brae, That seems like a good place to start."

At the Savage Camp near Skara Brae nothing unusual immediately stood out.

In between some huts, A red savage was seen placing an item on a, seemingly new, altar in the grass.

Nathan stared at the Altar unsure what to do next, When once again the mysterious red savage appeared on the roof of the hut... He had the Spear!

A gate opened on the altar and the savage took off, The Guard quickly followed through.

Inside the Cavern Nathan asked the Guard to search for the Spear.

The central room was filled with savages, But no sight of the Spear. The savages were able to reheal themselves, It was suggested the magical summons and pets were being used as energy to heal the savages.

After quite alot of deaths and the dispersion of savages from the main room the Guard were able to tackle each savage one at a time.

After a very long fight the mysterious red savage was finally found corned at the end of the caverns.

Quote:

Nathan Hawke: "GIVE US THAT SPEAR AND WE WILL SPARE YOU"

Arakak the Savage: "Spare me? *Laughs*"

Unfortunately for Arakak the force of the Guard was too much and several minutes later a warm corpse and Nathan Hawke holding the Spear of Antirez came into view.

At the Counsellor's Hall Nathan suggested the spear should be destroyed, Others suggested with no real idea what it does it may be a bad idea to destroy it.

Quote:

Nathan Hawke: "Whatever it does it isn't good."

Bran: "Then destroy it."

Dark Dryl: "I could keep it safe, if you aren't using it..."

Ruagaj: "We couldn't keep that crystal safe..."

Nathan Hawke asked for a vote, Those who wanted it destroyed were to stand on the stage, To keep it over by the bookshelves.

A firm majority said it should be destroyed, And so the Guard with Nathan went to... A volcano!

And with that, The Spear of Antirez was no more.

[Report] Finding Hannah, Antonio's Mission and Saving Antonio (Thu, Fri & Sun)

Last week Dorian’s Spirit was found in Vesper which brought up a question… Where is Hannah?

On Thursday 11th, Nathan Hawke met the Royal Guard at the Counsellor’s Hall in Britain to discuss when Hannah was last seen.

After several suggestions of where she may be, Nathan mentioned she used to live at Castle British so the search should begin there.

In the Castles south wing a diary from Hannah was found, the only remaining page said:

Quote:

“*the pages are torn out apart from one*
must leave now he has returned - will find lodgings close by”

Also in the room, A skirt embroided with a 'H' and a Mortar and Pestle from the Sweet Dreams Inn.

The Guard decided to head to the Sweet Dreams Inn and a search of the building took place, a scrap of paper in a room was found saying:

“Britian is too dangerous I am moving north. I think Nathan may be there but he has been gone some time. Enrico the guard has been such a great help...

*the paper is crumpled and other words are crossed out and are illegible*”

Members of the Royal Guard had seen Enrico the guard at the guard tower near Britain Bank.

Talking to Enrico, He would only tell where Hannah was if a password was given – A password only Nathan Hawke and Fynn knew.

“Virtueseeker” said Nathan, Enrico then responded.

“Hannah has gone to Minoc to the Barnacle. Now I must guard!”

At Minoc, Nathan asked everyone to search for the Barnacle Tavern.

In the tavern Sunnansky began speaking about Hannah, She lived in a house just behind the tavern!

In the small house behind the Inn a note was found, it said:

“Meet me at your favourite place 1211 20:00
A x”

Nathan Hawke took everyone to the garden the note specified, Hannah's Garden in Ilshenar. We would meet just before 8 the next day to see if Hannah arrived.

The next day Hannah arrived at her garden right on time as the Royal Guard hid behind any nearby tree or mountain.

Hannah waited and waited for whoever was meeting her, slowly the guard came out from their hiding spots to speak to Hannah.

Hannah: “After my father was resurrected I got scared! Mericles was surely coming to look for me again… So I left..”

Ben: “Must we seek out your Father?”

Hannah: “No, please do not seek our my father. I don’t want him to find out about Antonio.”

Antonio was Hannahs boyfriend, However he still had not turned up! Hannah was getting worried and the guard decided to visit his home in Cove.

At Antonios house in Cove, Orders were found on the bed – they read:

“Agent A, we have been grateful for all the help you have given us over the years and as per your request we are releasing you from your duties to us.

We need you to perform one final job for us - come to Nujelm Tailor of the Isle 12th Nov at 8 sharp to collect your instructions. You have been one of our best - do not fail us!”

At the tailors in Nujelm, Antonio was found! He said he was part of a secret service he was trying to leave, However they wanted him to complete one more assignment… The Royal Guard agreed to help him and a gate to Dungeon Despise was opened.

Antonio said he needed to collect something, but wouldn’t say what..

Inside Dungeon Despise Antonio took the guard towards the back of the dungeon.

At the back of the dungeon Savage Cannibals waited, Surrounding a box.

Once they had been killed the box opened! Inside was a red spear, ‘The Spear of Antirez’.

Antonio took the spear and ran off through the dungeon. Nathan appeared to do nothing to stop him as he ordered the Royal Guard back to Britain.

After a recap of the nights events, Nathan retired for the evening.

On Sunday the Royal Guard regrouped at 8pm.

Nathan arrived with some good news, When Antonio legged it out the dungeon on Friday Nathan bugged him and the receiver was sitting at the back of the Counsellor’s Hall.

After 10 minutes of listening to Antonio talking to an unknown voice through the receiver, things got dangerous.

Quote:

Antonio: “Give me the money and the papers and I will leave you to your savages.”

Unknown voice: “You knew it was never going to be that easy. Sharroc make ready to open that gate and bring in the executioners!”

The room began to yell to Nathan that they must go save him, But with no location yet, Nathan asked everyone to hold steady.

Quote:

Unknown voice: “Where are they waiting Sharroc? Nujelm at the chess board as agreed?”

Finally! Nathan opened up a moongate to Nujelm and everyone steped into a gate in the middle of the chessboard.

Through the gate a large cavern filled with guardians.

A fierce battle took place and I died several times! Huge thank you to Iryvn who healed me several times.

When the guardians were slain, Antonio was found, Injured at the end of the cavern.

Antonio was taken to the healers in Yew to be seen to.

Nathan asked the guard to return tomorrow (Monday 15th) at 8pm UK Time at the Counsellor’s Hall to continue this investigation.

President Wilson proclaims the first Armistice Day with the following words: "To us in America, the reflections of armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations." The original concept for the celebration was for the suspension of business for a two minute period beginning at 11 A.M., with the day also marked by parades and public meetings. After the second world war, on June first, in 1954, President Eisenhower signs legislation changing the name of the legal holiday from Armistice Day to Veteran's Day. From that day forward all over America, millions of service men and women, whom have dedicated their time, effort and ultimatly their lives, have been given back a day a single day. If you are interested in helping, please save your catches of Yellowtail Barracuda this week and turn them in at the EM awards hall mailbox. The rules are that the specimen must be heavy enough to be coded with Name of angler, and the date. Only fish caught from Nov. 14-20. (Now until Sat. midnight) will be considered. Final Decision Made for the Former Kinship Tavern Location

Friday the 12th of November EM Barnaby held a brief meeting at the EM Hall in Britain the subject of was “Kinship Taverns location in Felucca and what the players wanted done with it”. At prior meetings the subject had been discussed at length and it was thought a decision was made. After some to time to reflect many people changed their minds though, and it was decided to have this meeting to make a final decision that Mesanna would take action on. Mesanna had given the players of Catskills two choices to pick from. The first option was to remove all the blessed objects and the land will be "rezoned" to allow placement. The second option was to have an "open air" tavern which would retain its blessed objects, including the plants that were placed there years ago. At a previous meeting it thought having a replacement player placed tavern was the best course of action, but after some thinking it was decided it was better to have an open air tavern that would not be lost to the owner of the structure leaving the game. The choices were to put the gathered group and the open air tavern was voted the people’s choice. There were a few special requests for the open air tavern that EM Barnaby has, or will, ask of Mesanna. The first that there be placed a one-way Moongate allowing patrons to leave the Tavern in a timely fashion, should the need arise. The second was that some form of a memorial be placed at the location for those guilds were part of Kinship Village, for all they did in helping start Role Playing on Catskills. EM Barnaby made no promises on this but stated that he would look into it. As a bit of a teaser EM Barnaby had this warning to say. “I will take a moment to remind everyone, also, please be on the lookout in the coming weeks for any strange characters out and about.” When questioned jokingly if we should watch for mongbats he said. “No, but from what I understand, our strange imp friend has been sighted again recently. I've heard that he is often seen around New Haven, as well as Britain.” So keep your eyes open for anything unusual if you happen to be visiting either of these locations. (As many of you know the above mentioned Imp stole EM Barnaby’s Sashes at the Fair Grounds and the Catskills members that were there had to help save them from the evil little creature and his friends. So there is no telling what mischief he may be up to next. )

May Wisdom Be the Destiny of Thy Journey

A Journey upon the path of Destiny is certainly what I have embarked upon. Each step this humble reporter takes, brings her closer to a better understanding of other peoples, places, and things. Today I walk upon the Pacific shard near the Dungeon Wrong, nicknamed one of The "Dungeons of Sin." *Wrong is one of Sosaria's older dungeons and is located in a small valley north of the Compassion shrine on the Trammel and Felucca Facets-UO Guide* Not far from the dungeon wrong lies the township of Sagewind, a seaside community with houses spanning as far as the compassion desert, it is home to many types but notably known for its magical inhabitants. Lead by Lord Capricorn the leader of this Sage community, we got a view of how the people of Sagewind live. As I looked upon these people and their lands, a deep sense of the history and pride in their hard work emerged in all they did. I could feel the arcanists, fighters and villagers unity and presence within their town. Being close to the sea they sported a rather new and not commonly seen building, a Fish Market of sorts. With all the recent seaside activity upon the lands these days I ventured forth to get a good look at the many merchants selling their goods. The smell of fish rising up in the air. Onward from there we ventured forward to a grouping of buildings specifically for the Sages. They boasted quite a few magical buildings including a mage school for the up and coming youth of tomorrow. I myself enjoyed the tour of a grand hall where the Sages of the community gathered and learned together. Though we were scheduled to set sail after visiting Sagewind, curiousity drove my companions and I to follow a fellow by the name of Myrdion Landrill to the towns of Foghaven and Moonwood. My companions and I were lead into Yew, not far from their allies in Sagewind. There Lord Landrill brought us to one of the oldest houses of Foghaven, an elegant structure of marble. We also viewed the ancient tomes of Foghavens Library, their Carpenters shop as well as a bakery. Being rather hungry myself, I was grateful for a spot to grab a bite to eat. As we toured, one building of note caught my eye, coming upon a mystics tent, the beautiful blue structure glowing with unknown powers. It is here that I paused letting the arduous journey of the day wash away feeling renewed by its gentle energies. The people of both these fine villages left a lasting impression upon me, bringing me to understand the deeper magic's of our realm of Sosaria. On a side note, as I traveled the land of Yew, it reminded me of a bit of history I learned in my trainings. This bit of history still fresh in my mind, I gave thought to a time when the lands of Yew were once ravaged by the Plague of Despair. A spell cast by the meer to drive the attacking Meer from Yew, backfiring and diseasing the land into a swamplike state. However with the recent emergence of the elves of heartwood and their spellweaving abilities the lands were cured of this affliction and once more thrive free of disease. The story released on last Friday answers some questions and leaves you with many more. I have made bold the information in the story that may interest some of you. This Story does not forebode well for a quiet future in out fair lands. So keep your eyes open for anything strange... In the Shadow of Virtue: The Dark Throne Mark Steelman 12 Nov 2010 19:34:54 ES A hooded figure robed in crimson emerged from the darkgate and surveyed the room. There were no sounds in this chamber but the angry roar of the lava sea that roiled outside the red stone windows. Towering demons stood guard in the room and broke the silence briefly to grunt their recognition. The figure nodded. HeThe figure passed from the room and down a dark hall. There were no windows here, just warm obsidian walls which gave the hall a darkness that even nightsight could not penetrate. The sound of the lava faded and the mysterious figure could hear nothing but the scraping thud of cloven hooves on stone as demons tended to their duties. He arrived at two large brass doors flanked by more demon guards. The doors had a heavy pattern engraved in them and there were runes on each door. The runes were of a demonic language, but he knew what lay beyond. The guards lowered their great axes to block his path. He pulled back his hood to identify himself and they stood aside and opened the doors to let the human pass. The double doors opened near the corner of an indescribably large room. The floor here was the same obsidian stone that paved the hallway but the stone walls displayed a red and black pattern that extended from the corner to the horizon in both directions. The only light came from a ceiling of dark clouds that roiled with flashes of light thirty feet above the floor. The air here always made his eyes burn so he took out a black linen mask and placed it over his head. Adjusting the mask, he pondered the possibility that he might be in a courtyard and not a room, though the difference had little meaning in this place. The sky outside the fortress was always dark too, just higher above the head. There was no wind here so he concluded he was indoors. He raised his hood and proceeded with grim determination toward the darkness at the center of the room. As the walls and the doors faded out of sight behind him, dark things began swooping past him, out of the clouds and back into them. They peered at him with reptilian eyes and he knew that his master was informed of his approach. He arrived at a great moat of lava and waited. A moment later a flash of lightning struck the floor and a red portal opened. He closed his eyes and shook his head to regain his vision after the flash and made a mental note to himself to cover his eyes when waiting for the portal next time. He then stepped through the gate. He emerged before a great throne surrounded by large hound-like beasts. He knelt before the great horned demon who sat on the throne. “Speak,” rumbled the demon. “My lord, your people hath succeeded in capturing the queen’s husband but Ricardo was not in his cell when we stormed the prison. Our spies in the palace say they do not know where he is. He may have been captured by whoever stole the crystal from the palace.” The demon did not move but the sky became more tormented and the giant hounds around him began to bay and growl. “My lord, we know that the followers of Minax seek the power of the crystal. We suspect they hath taken the crystal and Ricardo too.” “I begin to question the competence of those who call themselves the Chosen of Virtue Bane. If Minax is behind this, why would she capture Ricardo if she already has the crystal?” “We know not, my lord. Perhaps it isn’t Minax. Could there be others who seek the crystal? “You bring me many questions and frail theories and far too few results.” Growled Virtue Bane. “Have I not sent my hellhounds to protect your soldiers? Have I not sent my dragons? My demons? These bring your soldiers power and security. Have I not given you previously hidden knowledge of the secrets of blackrock? These things have real value. Have I not been generous to all your requests? If you wish the Bane Chosen to be exalted in my new kingdom, you must deliver on your promises! If you do not get me results soon, I will take back all that I have given you with interest!” The man bowed to the ground. “Forgive me Lord Virtue Bane, thou art most generous and most patient.” “Patient! I have been patient for far too long!” fumed the great demon, pounding his giant fist on the arm of his throne. “I was patient when my demons failed to find the crystal in Magincia, but know that they were wise to raze it to the ground before returning to me with a report that it wasn’t there! Yes, I am patient, but not infinitely so. ” “Yes, my lord. What would you have your people do next?” “If I am to control Sosaria, I must control Truth. Now listen carefully, I want you to build an altar on Magincia at the location of the moongate. Then, I want you to have those who wish to be counted among the Chosen to bring a symbol of Truth and sacrifice it to me. It must be a testimony by them that the only Truth comes from Virtue Bane. “

(from Lady Silverbrook, Curator, Magincia Library and Museum) This month’s Magincia Library and Museum event will be short story based. It will involve relating a tale of gratitude. Many of those have seen much in their travels and have been touched by the kindness or understanding of their fellow peers in some way. Your entry should be any experience you have had from your travels upon Sosaria, the way it pertains to gratitude, and how it affected you. This is a month where many give thanks for the things in their life, and we would be pleased if such stories would be shared this evening with those who choose to participate. All entries should be able to be related to the attendees in under 10 minutes. If possible, please have it prepared in a red leafed book for entry into the contest, though this is not a necessity for this month’s event (though it is preferred for judging purposes). Please be prepared to recite your essay for all attending. Lady Silverbrook of Magincia and Chief Justicar Ra'Dian Fl’Gith of the High Council of Britannia will be judging the stories based on creativity, inspiration, and keeping in spirit of the theme of the month. The event will be held Wednesday, November 17th at 8:00 PM under Central skies (9:00 PM by Eastern skies). The current Library and Museum is located in Nujel'm, the former home of the Councilor's Guild (on the eastern side of Nujel'm). This month, the first place short story entry will take home *2 million gold, second place will be awarded 1.5 million gold, and third place will receive 1 million gold*. There will be consolation prizes given as well for those attending the event and participating.

[RP] Ra'Dian Fl'Gith Takes First Place in Jhelom Race!

(Jhelom, Trammel) This afternoon marked the boat race to Buccaneer's Den, which was requested by Councilor Beauvina of the High Council this past Monday. Contestants met on the docks of the city of Jhelom by the city's moongate* after a slight delay in the arrival of some. The race was coordinated to assist in providing food, monies and supplies for the children of Buccaneer's Den, as its orphanage was cited as having little food and deplorable living conditions. The children, Beauvina stated, needed help immediately, and as such those gathered were more than eager to assist in this endeavor. The group assembled were given directions and the basic rules by Councilor Beauvina (aided by her bovine lawyer, Perimoosyn) and Lady Silverbrook of the Isle of Magincia. After that, the contestants were sent off on a race, bringing them first to a checkpoint in Serpent's Hold, followed by the finish at Buccaneer's Den. There were a number of issues the contestants faced, from water elementals to ghost ships to even one contestant, Malag Aste of Newcastle, being thrown violently from his vessel! With determination to aid the poor children of Buc's Den, however, all made it to their destination, ensuring that their cargo was dropped off safely. When all were safe on Buc's Den shores (or as safe as Buc's Den can be), the winner's of the event were announced. Justicar Ra'Dian Fl'Gith took first place, noting his previous experience as 'Bluebeard the Pirate' to his success. Second place was taken by Lady GoldDigger of the esteemed Chicken Fight Club, who was accompanied by her steed as she traveled the seas. Third place was Lord Dyr the Hand of the Fishing Council of Britannia, who, although facing numerous (and perilous) issues on his own personal trek, managed to make it to the island to make sure the children had food. The night culminated in Lady Silverbrook giving thanks to all those who attended the event, and a promise of more events to come. She mentioned to thank Lady Beauvina and the High Council of Britannia for bringing the plight of Buc's Den youth to the attention of others, all those who attended, and mentioned that soon in the future there may be a need again for an event such as this. Congratulations to the winners of the Jhelom Race! (* Sadly, there was some miscommunication regarding where the event would begin at. For this, the hosts this evening apologize. It is our desire that next time a more suitable venue is selected that will not make this an issue. Again, we are sorry for anyone who may have attempted to go to this event but were unable to do so. We will hold another event of this type again soon!)

Scavenger Hunt at the Hub a Success

. Scavenger Hunt at the Hub a Success ~ The planned event to kick off and celebrate the new Hub was a scavenger hunt and what fun it was! Over fifty people showed up for the event and they were from a wide range of guilds. Some people arrived early to socialize and play with the water foul. EM Malachi and EM Elizabella arrived on time and gave instructions and support material needed for the hunt. The scavenger hunt was centered around all the banners and the questions were very thoughtful. This event was very relaxed with no time limit. So relaxed ale was handed out ! Though Lindera of the -Y- Guild was the first to return her filled out book to EM Elizabella this was not about who was first or the best. All one had to do was get at least 75% of the questions correct. Those that qualify will get their names placed in a book which will be on display in the Award Hall. This was a great way to get people to check out all the banners and the guilds and communities associated with them. Below are the questions that were asked in the Trammel hunt. There was also a Felucca hunt.

Listening to the sounds of the gypsies singing and going about their daily work pleased her and she fell asleep thinking of Antonio and Dorian - praying that history wasn't going to repeat itself again...

Nathan sighed as he thought of the events of last night.
He penned a brief report to the Queen thus:

Cant waste time writing up reports.

There were no sounds in this chamber but the angry roar of the lava sea that roiled outside the red stone windows. Towering demons stood guard in the room and broke the silence briefly to grunt their recognition. The figure nodded. The figure passed from the room and down a dark hall. There were no windows here, just warm obsidian walls which gave the hall a darkness that even nightsight could not penetrate. The sound of the lava faded and the mysterious figure could hear nothing but the scraping thud of cloven hooves on stone as demons tended to their duties. He arrived at two large brass doors flanked by more demon guards. The doors had a heavy pattern engraved in them and there were runes on each door. The runes were of a demonic language, but he knew what lay beyond. The guards lowered their great axes to block his path. He pulled back his hood to identify himself and they stood aside and opened the doors to let the human pass. The double doors opened near the corner of an indescribably large room. The floor here was the same obsidian stone that paved the hallway but the stone walls displayed a red and black pattern that extended from the corner to the horizon in both directions. The only light came from a ceiling of dark clouds that roiled with flashes of light thirty feet above the floor. The air here always made his eyes burn so he took out a black linen mask and placed it over his head. Adjusting the mask, he pondered the possibility that he might be in a courtyard and not a room, though the difference had little meaning in this place. The sky outside the fortress was always dark too, just higher above the head. There was no wind here so he concluded he was indoors. He raised his hood and proceeded with grim determination toward the darkness at the center of the room. As the walls and the doors faded out of sight behind him, dark things began swooping past him, out of the clouds and back into them. They peered at him with reptilian eyes and he knew that his master was informed of his approach. He arrived at a great moat of lava and waited. A moment later a flash of lightning struck the floor and a red portal opened. He closed his eyes and shook his head to regain his vision after the flash and made a mental note to himself to cover his eyes when waiting for the portal next time. He then stepped through the gate. He emerged before a great throne surrounded by large hound-like beasts. He knelt before the great horned demon who sat on the throne. “Speak,” rumbled the demon. “My lord, your people hath succeeded in capturing the queen’s husband but Ricardo was not in his cell when we stormed the prison. Our spies in the palace say they do not know where he is. He may have been captured by whoever stole the crystal from the palace.” The demon did not move but the sky became more tormented and the giant hounds around him began to bay and growl. “My lord, we know that the followers of Minax seek the power of the crystal. We suspect they hath taken the crystal and Ricardo too.” “I begin to question the competence of those who call themselves the Chosen of Virtue Bane. If Minax is behind this, why would she capture Ricardo if she already has the crystal?” “We know not, my lord. Perhaps it isn’t Minax. Could there be others who seek the crystal? “You bring me many questions and frail theories and far too few results.” Growled Virtue Bane. “Have I not sent my hellhounds to protect your soldiers? Have I not sent my dragons? My demons? These bring your soldiers power and security. Have I not given you previously hidden knowledge of the secrets of blackrock? These things have real value. Have I not been generous to all your requests? If you wish the Bane Chosen to be exalted in my new kingdom, you must deliver on your promises! If you do not get me results soon, I will take back all that I have given you with interest!” The man bowed to the ground. “Forgive me Lord Virtue Bane, thou art most generous and most patient.” “Patient! I have been patient for far too long!” fumed the great demon, pounding his giant fist on the arm of his throne. “I was patient when my demons failed to find the crystal in Magincia, but know that they were wise to raze it to the ground before returning to me with a report that it wasn’t there! Yes, I am patient, but not infinitely so. ” “Yes, my lord. What would you have your people do next?” “If I am to control Sosaria, I must control Truth. Now listen carefully, I want you to build an altar on Magincia at the location of the moongate. Then, I want you to have those who wish to be counted among the Chosen to bring a symbol of Truth and sacrifice it to me. It must be a testimony by them that the only Truth comes from Virtue Bane. “

[EM Fiction] "Tiamat."

Tiamat. By EMCrysania Tiamat flew only during the dark of the moons, resting during the daylight hours anywhere that concealed her to the humans that were constantly on watch for those of her kind. She vowed to herself that she would take revenge on man, no matter who they were, as man had destroyed her parents and forced her to leave her lands. Her anger was great and her heart filled with wrath.She had flown many miles since that night, passed many towns and villages. She had matured and grown during this time. She had passed the days practicing her new found magical skills as the thoughts of revenge bore deeper into her heart. As Daylight rose, she found herself near a large town, active with people and villagers from other cities. She searched and found a hidden cave in the side of a mountain range, and settled down inside to wait until it was safe to leave. Her thoughts turned to her search for the others of her breed. She had saw many in her journey, being used as fighters against those that still roamed as free dragons. Man had found a way to tame them it seemed and bend them to their will. This too brought anger to her, knowing that dragon against dragon was being used for profit for the lands people. As another darkness started to fall, she made her way out of the cave that she had found to hide in. She had heard voices earlier,and had picked up a strange odor in the air. Not unpleasant, but unknown to her,and was cautious and wary. The voices had been odd to her in their sounds. It seemed that they were chanting words of a strange language, and looking out she had seen men dressed in strange clothing. Brown robes, their heads completely hidden, with a rope as a belt. Who these men were she did not know, but they seemed to be listening to one man who wore a white robe,who spoke in a strange tongue, then they would chant their words and seemingly wave sticks that burned and gave off the smell she had detected. Tiamat heard no voices, nor did she detect the odors now. Her thirst was great and there was a small crystal brooke nearby where she had saw the strange men.Seeing or hearing no one there, She crept towards it to quench her thirst, before taking flight again. As she bowed her head to drink from the brooke, she saw a great flash of light, and felt sudden extreme pain burning through her. Spinning around she saw the man whom the others had been listening too. His hood had fallen back, and she saw his long white beard and hair, and weathered face. He held a staff in his hand and had it raised. He was saying words she remembered hearing the night of her parents destruction. “Kas Vas Flam”, she heard him say as he pointed his staff at her. A searing pain again hit her. “Vas Cor Por” as a strange purple whirlwind appeared and attacked her. Raging she blew out her fire breathe..stopping the whirlwind and dissipating it. She turned her fury on the wizard, her feverish mind on only one thing, either she won and lived, or she would die as did her parents. A battle ensued between the two, and Tiamat knew this time that she would win. She too had perfected her magical powers, coupled with her rage, she turned these on the wizard, as well as her fire breath and great strength. Beaten down,the wizard fell to the ground. Looking down on him,she made ready to take his life,as had been done to her parents.The old wizard looked up at her and spoke these words. “If you so kill me beast, I will leave you with many a curse,for even in death my magic is powerful! You will have part of my soul and I will take part of yours,leaving you with partial human emotions and feelings! I will leave you rendered unable to fly, nor will you have magic! You will have to go to the humans, learn compassion,and ask for their help for you will speak their tongue! Kill me not beast or this will be your fate! For only those you despise will be able to help you regain what you will lose!” Tiamat stood looking down on the old man, with a mighty roar she raised her taloned foot ready to put him to his death, his warnings unheeded in her rage. As her foot came down, the old man spake one last phrase, ” Vas Des Sanct por cor wis”. The old man lay dead, Taimat was thrown backwards with the force of his words. She knew nothing for several minutes as she was dazed by the spell. Regaining her senses,she knew she had to leave before the old wizard’s body was discovered missing. She tried to extend her massive wings to take flight and found she could not. This could not be happening! No humans magic was so great! She shook in fright. She made a new sound and it was the sound of the Humans! She made a anguished noise and retreated into the darkness on foot.She tried to summon the spell to become invisible and found it useless. Crashing through the brush, no longer heedless of being seen,she ran blindly,and found a opening to a cave far from the body of the wizard. She knew only that she had to hide and figure out what she must do, hoping beyond hope that the humans would not find her. Remembering the old wizards words, she lay her head down in anguish. What was to become of her? How was she to survive with the curses upon her? She felt something wet upon her scaled face. Tears were coming from her eyes,a human emotion of pain, grief and fright...

. Rolling Hills Banner Gets Placed ~ Mesanna placed the newest banner today and it was for Rolling Hills, a -Y- Guild based community. I have featured some of the banners in previous articles but with the recent hub created I would like to feature them all in this article. Not only was a new banner placed today the hub itself has had a mini makeover. Gone are the pink sidewalks and purple blooms, replaced with more natural subtle shades. Paintball Comes to Legends

Brought to you by a Fluffy Bunny this evening two teams squared off in a very well designed battlefield with a pocket full of explosion potions. Contestants were given either a red or blue robe, which we got to keep, and lined up in designated areas until the signal was given to begin the chase. As you can see, the robes were crafted of the new cloths from the Halloween event... very lovely! On the red team were Clawfingers, Zindorf, Lord Cyric and DreadPirate Drac. The blue team was Lord Urza, Amber Brightwood, Rare Earth and myself. After a bit of a false start and rezzing, the two teams got down to business, which in this case was run as fast as you can and throw little bottles! The red team emerged victorious and were awarded golden robes crafted by The Winning Team. We learned after the event was over that there were also goodies hidden in those bones lying about the floor. I know that I was too busy running and tossing to peek in there, so the Fluffy token and other prizes will pass along to the next event! This was a whole lot of fun and when asked about doing it again the answer was "Yes!" Plan on attending, you won't be disappointed!

Some news from the Catskills EM Website: by Barnaby This Friday (the 12th) at 7pm EST a meeting will be held at the EM Hall in Britain. The meeting will be short, with the focus of it being the Kinship Tavern. All interested parties are asked to attend the meeting. This meeting is to come to a final and definitive decision about what to do to immortalize the former location of the Kinship Tavern that use to be Felucca. All interested parties are welcome to come and voice their opinions. Mesanna will then take a course of action based on the consensus agreed choice made by those gathered.

Recent News from the Catskills EM Website by Kasaven The second and final week of the Fall Festival will begin soon: Wednesday, November 17th 7 p.m. - Archery Tournament Saturday, November 20th 7 p.m. EST – PvM Tournament - This tournament will be using teams of four, pitted against monsters. The determining factor for victory will be how quickly each team can fell their monsters. Monster types and resists will vary, so be sure to come prepared. Resurrection is allowed. More details to follow. Sunday, November 21st, 5 p.m. EST – PvP Tournament - A one-on-one PvP tournament will take place at 5 p.m. Rules and details will come later in the week. Sunday, November 21st, 8 p.m. EST, Fall Festival Closing Ceremonies A bit of formality, drinks, relaxation. But…At last year’s Closing Ceremony, Casca showed up and kidnapped the Steward of the Guard. Perhaps this year will turn out less relaxing than expected, as well.

Melian of MOA, Designer and Queen of the JoL

. .. ... Melian of MOA, Designer and Queen of the JoL .. . This past week I stopped by the MOA Auction House to see what was cooking design wise and there was Melian all alone slaving away, which she loves by the way. I sat down and had a nice long chat with Melian and congratulated her on the new decor at the auction. Many moons ago I decorated the MOA Auction House for the holidays and I know how much work really goes into it. To my delight Halloween was already down and the Thanksgiving decor was up. That girl never lets the dust collect under her feet. The conversation quickly went to Christmas and that seasons decor. Santa will be handing out gifts at the MOA Ice Castle this year. Melian hinted that the decor would be " UO Christmas " at the castle and left it at that. Incase you have been living under a rock for years...the MOA Auctions are on thursday evenings and gates are provided from the Luna Bank and often other banking locations. One would think with all the holidays ahead of us Melian would put Halloween behind her but OH NO! Melian for the past week has been working endlessly running a Jack-o-Lantern clearing house. I personally have gotten 5 of my 7 characters named Jack-o-Lanterns at her clearing house. Thank you Melian for everything you do for our community. Everyone appreciates it greatly !

Weigh-Ins are every Sunday night from 8:30pm - 9:00pm ET. You have the entire week to fish for Giant Koi, found in the Tokuno deep waters. The only fish you should be turning in are Giant Koi. They must have a date stamp for being caught this week. Any fish caught before this week will not count.

Recap of Player Ran Events from the Weekend of 5th-7th of November

Last weekend was a busy one here on Catskills offering a variety of player ran event to choose to take part in. Ranging from a rares auction, to bartering deals with a pirate, to enjoying hearing tales while sipping a cold drink. The Autumn Rares Festival took place on Catskills over the weekend, bringing players from numerous other shards here to visit. Many brought along with them some of the rarest items in the game in the hopes of selling or trading them to another rares collector. Some came just to buy items for their own collections of rares and others to fill museums on their home shards. For a more detailed on this event please take a look at the articles by Stratics newest staff member, Kimberly "UO Rares News Reporter", who reports over in the Collectors Corner: A Sneak Peek at the 2010 Fall Rares Festival(Catskills Auction Night at the 2010 Fall Rares Festival (Catskills) Closing Ceremonies for the 2010 Fall Rares Festival (Catskills) The monthly “Black Market” that is sponsored by the United Pirates [UP] took place last Saturday at the Black market building they have placed next to their Jolly Roger Inn. This event is held by the United Pirates [UP] on the every first Saturday of a month and provides a opportunity for fun Role Playing while bartering to purchase items at normally way below Luna prices. The ladies who visit should be forewarned that most of the male pirates are notorious flirts and will try and charm you out of your knickers. The "Knights Rest" in the village of Aegis held a “Bard’s Night” Sunday evening rounding out a full weekend of player ran events. (Unfortunately this reporter had to miss most all of it so I cannot post the results.) These evenings normally are nice for those players that enjoy telling stories, poems and song with other players in a Role Playing environment. [EM Fiction] The Black Dragon.

The Black Dragon By EMCrysania There was a time many many moons ago, when the greatest of winged creatures soared through the skies. They inhabited all of the realms and knew no fear. It was common to hear the names of Glaurung, the fire breather, Ancalagon the black, Apalala of the waters and many more of greatness spoken of by the people who lived in the towns and countrysides and feared these great beast. But as man grew wiser and time progressed fewer and fewer of the great ones survived. The ones that did grew old..and far between them the lands did spread as either they were hunted by man and slain for their hides and heads to be hung on proud warriors walls. Two great creatures hid in the lands above a ancient realm..far up top the mountain in a cave well hidden. They were old and weathered.Mated for their lifespan, the female had given many a egg, watched over for many moons, but in the end at the hatching, because of their advanced age, the fledgling had been weak and not survived when it had came from the shell. The Female dragon laid yet another egg, knowing that this would be her last. Carefully she mound up the where the egg lay and she and her mate watched over the nest. Dragon eggs take many moons to hatch and as the time grew near for the hatching she and her mate grew more forlorn. Fearing in their hearts this would be the last chance for a heir to come from them. On a dark eve, the old Female dragon felt the egg stir beneath her. Calling her mate, she crept off the nest. Both aged dragons watched as the tiny fledgling struggled to break forth from the leathery covering of the egg.They could hear the tiny claws trying to rip a opening through the egg case. For many hours they watched growing more desolate as the fledgling’s movements slowed. They feared the worst, that as with the others this fledgling was destined to die as well. In desperation, the old mother dragon reached out with her massive horned foot and with the gentlest of touches, fearing for the it’s life, took her nail and ripped a tiny gap in the egg. Knowing that to survive the fledgling must make it out of the egg on their own, she knew what she had done was not right. The old male turned in wrath upon her, thinking she was destroying the egg. She turned her anguished eyes to him and lay her head down in sorrow. He realized she was trying to help the fledgling instead of harm it and lay down his head by hers in grief. Slow movements started from the egg as they watched. First a tiny foot came thru the gap rendered.Then with a final rendering the egg fell into two pieces. There stood a tiny Black dragon. Weak and heaving from trying to escape the egg. The two old Dragons looked on with joy as the fledgling they soon named Tiamat, stood and came towards them. Nuzzling up to her mother..she took nourishment, then closed her eyes to sleep. As the little dragon grew,she retained the black color. Only once before had the old ones heard of a Black Dragon. For one born of this color would hold special powers. The old dragons kept her close in the hidden cave, fearing for her life. For if a brave knight saw her in flight, they were certain she would be killed for her hide and head. Tiamat longed to go outside and test her skills. The mountain cave was massive yet, her flying skills were limited there. She would peek out through the entrance and be enthralled with the lands she saw. Her keen eyesight watched the townspeople and villagers as they went about their works and lands. The old dragons would go out every few moons on a flight to gather food.Hoping they would not be seen. But alas, one fateful day, the old ones were spotted. A cry of alarm went up in the towns and brave warriors gathered to go find the hidden cave. The old ones pushed Tiamat to the back of the cave, into one of the hidden chambers,and stood ready to guard their child. Tiamat could hear the people coming up the mountain. Soon a great battle ensued. Sounds of the people yelling, her parents great fire breath.The great roars of pain and rage as they were repeatedly slashed. The sounds of the men screaming as the great horned claws of the old ones ripped at them.The acrid smell of the smoke from their fire breath charring the men’s skins. The battle raged it seemed forever, the sounds of her parents growing weaker and weaker as she shivered in fright hidden in the chamber. Too young to breathe the fire breath and her claws not fully sharp all she could do was listen to the sounds of the battle. The magical skills she possessed but not yet knew she had.All she could do was listen to the sudden sound of silence from behind the walls of the chamber. Then sounds of victory from the great warriors as her parents lay dying by their swords and magic. She heard the warriors searching through the great cave, looking for any other dragons, or the treasures her parents had collected through their lifespan. “We have done well”, she heard the leader of the group say ” We’ll be taking these heads and hides back to the village now. The treasures are on their way as I speak.” “Lets get these wounded back down to the village and to the healers. A great victory celebration we shall have tonight!” "Move out!” With that the little dragon was left. For moons she stayed inside the chamber, afraid to come out, afraid to see what was left of her once home, afraid of the men coming back. Finally the despair of loneliness drove her out of the chamber. Creeping out she saw that she was truly alone. She had heard her parents speak of others of her kind in unknown lands. Surely they could be found. Looking around her with sadness,she decided then to take flight and risk being seen to go in search of the others. For she must leave this place. Her heart was heavy as she silently crept out of the cave. Spreading her wings..she took tentative flight..headed to other lands..seeking others of her kind, and a new place to dwell…

Chesapeake House of Commons Recap 11/7/10 Players gathered outside the city of Britain for this weeks installment of the Chesapeake House of Commons. The weekly meeting held by EM's Dudley and Drosselmeyer to inform the realm of upcoming events and offer round table discussion of community, events, and more, even pumpkin pie! The Seafarmers Collegium of Merxmere (SCM) generously sponsored a net toss/ Scalis hunt immediately following the nights event. This weeks meeting was short, sweet and to the point as event announcements took the bulk of the evening. This week events are as follows: Wednesday November 10th 8pm EST: "Hot on the Trail" - New arc commences as the investigation of the recent deaths of Sheffield and Tavalia Zodok are underway. Part Kill Em All and part Puzzle/Problem Solving, this event should appeal to all! Saturday November 13th 9pm EST: "PvP Boat Battles" - FELUCCA EVENT, armed player ships attempt to attain warfare supremacy on the high seas as they conquer others ships to loot cursed items from ships in the contest. The ship with the most items collected wins! This event will take place in Felucca T2A. Captains are required to furnish thier own ship and all neccessary ammunition via the new booster to participate. Wat the Tyler Wins USA October Dart League! Congratulations to Wat the Tyler (RBG) for claiming the championship in the USA Alliance Dart League for the month of October! With back to back wins in rounds two and three, the bar was set high for competitors to near his score. Although a rough finish in round left the door somewhat open, those also near the top faltered to finish in the top five leaving the league top prize of a cool million to Wat. Congrats to not only all the weekly and overall champions but all who came out to join in the community fun. Join us in the month of November dates to TBA for the next installement of the United Sosarian Alliance League event series.

Greetings from *Your Wandering Baja Reporter Weezie!* This afternoon I have been talking with one of our Baja citizens that have been here since the beginning of time. My first visit was with Bastian, from the Brotherhood Of Honor Guild. He started the game in October of 1997. That would put him here before trammel came to be. We talked a bit and I asked him a few questions. The game is still alive and well for him with the new High Seas Booster Pack. Fishing is his favorite part of the new additions. A seafaring upgrade was his cup of tea for sure. He has many characters in the game besides his fisherman, twenty-two in all. Doing messages in a bottle and maps with his cartographer the game continues to be his passion. Meeting and greeting the people and places in Baja will continue! Beware! I could be knocking on your door to speak with you next!

[RP Event] Jhelom Boat Race to Aid Buc's Den Orphans

The city of Jhelom, Tanda's Grotto Tavern and the Isle of Magincia are looking for Sosaria's greatest sailors and ships! This Monday at the High Council of Britannia, Councilor Beauvina of Jhelom related a tale regarding poor, underprivileged children at the Buccaneer's Den Orphanage. It seems that they are going without food, as their orphanage is destitute and the pirates and other riff-raff of the island are refusing the assist them. A representative went to Jhelom seeking assistance with this concern, and Councilor Beauvina and the farmers of Jhelom happily decided to give food and other items to the orphanage. "It was so sad," Councilor Beauvina said. "I went there to Buc's Den and held those poor children and right there and then I promised them help! They aren't as pretty as, say, a newborn calf, but they're cute in their own ugly human baby way. I just can't let 'em starve! I just can't!!" After she stated her plight, many at the High Council chimed in. The Britannian Armed Forces noted they would help in any way they could to attempt to clear routes. Lady Silverbrook of the Isle of Magincia offered assistance to finance ships that wished to help in this endeavor, and Lady Tanda of the Grotto Tavern also added that she had contacts that would be used to secure crates, packing and other items for the journey. Councilor Beauvina went on then to speak of 'malnutrition', though she was quite unable to pronounce the word, and was quickly barked at by those assembled to not even try. Justicar Ra'Dian Fl'Gith of the High Council added after the meeting, "I am most eager to assist with the orphans on Buc's Den, as perhaps we can help bring them into a life of Virtue and help curtail the future of Britannian piracy." But what exactly does this all mean to you? This Saturday, November 13th at 4pm CST (5pm EST), we need you to prove you have what it takes to be Sosaria's best (and fastest) sailor! Please show up ready to sail at Jhelom's Docks (177o 54'N 11o 36'E, near the Jhelom moongate). Bring a ship and a sextant! All those willing to race will be told of where they will be required to go, including a 'checkpoint' during the race. Fastest ships will win! Grand prize for arriving to the final destination first will be 2 million gold and bragging rights, second place 1 million gold, and third place 500,000 gold. Don't worry, the orphans of Buc's Den will get gold too, as well as full bellies from the food you'll be delivering. Come help us out, there is no need to have starving, orphan pirate children in Sosaria! We hope to see you there!

Public Jack O’ Lantern Orphanage in Luna

Thanks to the efforts of Foxie and so many others, there are many poor, orphaned Jack O’ Lanterns looking for their home. As of Saturday, November 6th at about 8 p.m. Eastern, Foxie's Jack o Lantern orphanage moved to a house in Luna owned by Anne Nomilly. So if you cannot find your or your friends Jack O’ Lanterns in the fields come take a look here. Due to the overwhelming number of orphans, the Jack O’ Lanterns are in backpacks on the roof of Anne’s vendor house. Each stack has a book on top and they are stacked by letter. To reach the roof, enter the house and use the teleport pad to the far left. From there you will see the bags laid out before you and in alphabetical order. On top of each stack is a book with the starting letter of the named Jack O’ Lanterns in the bags under it. If you have more Jack O’ Lanterns to drop off there is also a white box on the roof to place them in till they can be added to the proper bags. (The Vendors houses storage limits are very hard pressed by so many Jack O’ Lanterns so hopefully many of you will come claim yours to help make more room.) Anne hopes to keep this open till Thanksgiving then it will be decided how to dispose of the unclaimed Jack O’ Lanterns. The house can be found just outside the west entrance to Luna Bank. See the map below. It's the shadow house with the red and white vendors on top. Also the house sign has been changed to make finding the location easier. The coordinates for the house are 97.7’N 22.51’W. Happy Jack O’ Lantern Hunting and good luck on finding yours there.

Last night a Coalition of Britannian Guardsmen and Feluccan Mercenaries converged on the Crimson Plains of Altmere to capture merchants and tradesmen involved in the exchange of Blackrock Ore. This comes hours after the same batallion managed to intercept a Caravan transporting the substance from the lawless hinterlands of the Old World to the Realm of Her Imperial Majesty, Queen Dawn. Those captured are currently being interrogated in an undisclosed location in Yew. While it remains unclear where the volatile substance was destined - and what if any connection exists between the trading cartel and the Gargish Constructs that invaded New Britain in August - we have established that the Ore is being mined and shipped throughout Greater Britannia by the House of Gideon. You might remember Gideon as the man selected to be Minister of Trade during the Cascan Regime. Rumors persist that the Merchant Lord is not the sole dealer involved in the Trade and Exchange of Blackrock. Results from the Fall Festival: Foot Race

Wednesday the 3rd of Novenber 2010 the “Fall Festival: Foot Race” was held, and turned out to be a thrilling race and a moving inspiration for everyone who witnesses it. The rules were very simple it was a foot race where the participants were required to pass within 3 squares of markers along the race route. No mounts, form changes, and gates or recalls were allowed. The first person to complete the race without breaking any of the rules was the winner. The race that started in Trinsic and ended up at the Catskills Fair Grounds not only took place on the roads but also went through the open woods and even a swamp. At one point there was even a tent in the middle of the road that the race was taking place on. Many of the racers were also attacked by the multitude of monsters, brigands, and undead encounter during the race. There was no reports of any deaths caused by these encounters during the race. The winner was RAMPAGE [CIA!], with Underpants Gnome [CIA!] taking second and Masta Blasta [VIPs] coming in third. The rest of the racers crossed the finish line over the following ten minutes. All who took part were winners for completing the grueling race. Though there was some confusion by a few of the racers who ended up at the EM Hall by accident, and two of the racers were disqualified for cheating. The most moving part of the race was when Mongy the mongbat was approaching the finish line to complete the race. Showing dedication and the true heart of a champion, his little legs worked hard to show everyone what he was made of. Unfortunately he collapsed before crossing the line and it was feared that he wouldn’t make it. That’s when EM Kasaven rushed out and helped Mongy cross the line completing the race. Shortly after that Mongy was declared dead, but he had completed the race so he died a winner in everyone’s eyes. Mongy the mongbat even finished the race before a few of the other racers only adding to his fame. In Mongy’s honor the race will from now on be known as the “Mongbat Cup” and RAMPAGE is Catskills first "Mongbat Cup winner".

Spooky Fall Festival Story Night at a Campfire

Last Tuesday (2nd of November 2010) EM Barnaby hosted the “Fall Festival: Story Night around the campfire” with the theme being scary/horror stories. It took place at the campfire that sits to the east side of the EM rewards hall, and had a late night start to add to the spooky feeling of the event. Unfortunately only two of the people who attended had any prepared material to regale the gathered group with. Both stories proved to be very entertaining and of the highest quality and EM Barnaby promised to commemorate both stories, and the ones who have told them. So we shall do the same and share both Tales as they were told that evening with all of you. We will start with a suspense filled tale from Aphroditie that had every one on the edge of their seats till the very end. This tale has been told since I was a child In the woods near my home Late at night a scream can be heard at the witching hour A scream that would chill the heartiest of men to their bones Children are warned to never go into the woods because a witch lives there Most children listen to the warning because they hear the screams But one lad did not obey His father had made him the man of the house when he left So the lad wanted to prove he could be that very man One night just after the sun had set he packed up his father’s sword And a torch. The end This fable/story/life lesson was recited by Zombi Rothgar and was made even more interesting seeing that he was a member of the undead. *Cracks open his book* Many agess ago, yess, in a time long passt; living a creature called Human, there was then. Unique wass Human, for untouched by death wass sshe alone of all animalss. Carved from the sstrong boness of the earth, wass sshe, not clay like lessser creaturess. Knew nothing, did Human, of worry or longing, and of needs or fears sshe had none. Worm ressented Human, like it did all greater creaturess. Lowly, weak, wass Worm; fated to die. Coveted, Worm did, the immortal pressence that Human did repressent. And sso did it sscheme to bring Human low and ussurp her power. Worm assked. Pondered that for a time, Human did, and eventually assked, "What meanss it to be 'cold'?" "Upon your feet, let me resst, and you sshall know what I mean." did Worm ansswer. Worm coiled itsself about Human's feet, and from the water did Human sstep quickly. "Like cold, I do not," ssaid Human. "There iss alsso warmth. Let the ssun fall upon me and, too, sshall you know that." And Human did lay down and let the ssun warm her feet. "Much better do I like thiss," ssaid Human. "Sseen you rest before, I never have," Worm ssaid. "Yet alwayss you are on the move, looking at the beautiful world around you. Weary, do you not grow?" Puzzled again, wass Human, and sshe assked without much delay, "What meanss it to be 'weary'?" Up to Human'ss thigh, Worm moved, and ssaid, "Sshow to you what it doess mean, let me." And Human felt weak and wobbly, and the energy to sstand sshe did not have. "What awfulnesss thiss feeling iss!" ssaid Human. "Even warmth doess not drive it away." "Now sshall you need to ssleep. Feeling much better in the morning, you will be." The next day, waiting wass Worm to greet Human when sshe awoke. "Sso that iss ssleep," ssaid Human, "Much better do I feel now, but ssee the beautiful sstarss lasst night, I could not." "Be not troubled," replied Worm, "For when next you ssleep, to dream sshall I teach thee, and nice sstoriess will you have at night to keep you happy." "Pleassant, that ssoundss," ssaid Human, "But even sso, like to ssee the sstarss again, I would." Worm sslithered further up its hosst, and assked, "Human, do you not hunger? Ssurely you musst want, after a long night'ss ssleep, to break your fasst." Human ssat up. For a while sshe looked down at Worm. "What iss hunger?" Human assked at last. "Let me lay upon your ribss, and I sshall let you feel it." And sso Human knew hunger, and from the river did sshe guzzle water, and gorged on the grassess of the earth sso sshe would not sstarve. While Human ate, Worm assked, "Bear thosse plantss' tasste, how can you? Bitter, are they not?" "What iss taste?" did Human assk, chewed grasss falling from her teeth. "Upon your jaw, let me ssit, and I sshall let you know." And sso Human could tasste, and knew that the rough grass wass unfit to eat. Sshe sspat the mussh out, and did look around for ssomething better. "Look there!" ssaid Worm, "that animal hass meat on itss boness. Like itss tasste, you will." Human tore meat from the animal, and devoured it, and liked the tasste of blood on her tongue. "I know that hungered, you did, Human.. But ssadnesss do you not feel for caussing the death of that poor beasst?" Human licked her lipss and pulled food from her teeth, and then assked Worm, "What iss death?" Worm did ansswer, "Let me resst insside your sskull, and I sshall sshare my knowledge with you." And sso Human knew then what it meant to live, and what it meant to die, and wass driven to her kneess by horror. Sshe cried out to Worm, "I want to know thesse things no more! Pleasse, go away, and take your knowledge with you!" Ssimply did Worm reply, "No." Tugged at Worm, Human did, trying to pull it out from her body, but Worm wass coiled all around her now, and it did not budge; and Human learned what pain wass, and sshe could not bear the agony that came from trying to tear Worm away. In desspair, Human had for Worm a lasst query, "Who are you, that you sshould torment me sso?" And Worm ansswered, "I am called Flessh." "I am all that iss weak in life: I am hunger, thirsst, lusst, and exhausstion; I am pain, fear, ssorrow, and ssickness." "Alone, I wass nothing... But now I have the sstrength of your body to carry me." "I have taken your innocence and given you mortality." [NEWS] Auction Night at the 2010 Fall Rares Festival (Catskills) Auction Night at the 2010 Fall Rares Festival (Catskills) The word "breathtaking" seems the most appropriate way to describe the holding room, which housed all of the items that were to be put up for auction. Part of the decor included a white lava waterfall, which cascaded over an enormous pile of skulls. Despite the macabre nature of the display, it had a strangely serene feel to it. Within minutes, the auction house was packed. The first excitement of the evening came when an impromptu bidding war broke out between Raja Deah and Ursula over a "Cave Dweller Fur Robe". The price climbed higher and higher as we, the onlookers, could only guess as to what their personal motivations were. Being only one of four robes given out during a Season 7 event on Lake Superior certainly explained the rarity of it but these two were relentless in their pursuit. Finally, after it reached a staggering 300 million gold, Ursula graciously bowed out. After the auction. Raja was kind enough to invite me to his museum so I could take a picture of the robe, which was already displayed. His explanation for why he had to have this particular robe was surprisingly touching. It seems he went by the name "Cave Dweller" on the forum where he met his wife. The only other item to reach 300 million was "I Out Ran Mesanna And I Lived To Tell About It". The most expensive lot listed, which had a record opening bid of 800 million, was a complete set of Oceania Orienteering robes. Unfortunately, there were no bids on this impressive collection. Hilarity ensued when our host, Lykor, somewhat bashfully displayed the last item up for auction... Lykor: last item Lykor: and also quite embarrassing Lykor: BUT Lykor: here goes Lykor: a HTML brace Lykor: and an almost disqualified item Lykor: i'll let it speak for itself Amber Witch said "I want to see how Kimberly reports this sale!!" to which I replied (while laughing) "Very carefully." What can I say? I had no idea roosters wore jewelry. The aforementioned item sold for a whopping 200 million.

Will there be a way to view one's reputation? How much is lost by dropping a quest? Shade: You gain reputation by completing orders. The more orders you complete, the better chance that when a fishmonger has a big order, they will give the business to you. The maximum possible quantity requested for any line item is 20. The maximum number of line items is 6. This means, that the largest possible order can contain 120 fish. The rewards change with the size of the order. Some rewards are exclusive to certain order size brackets. As in life, your reputation with the fishmongers is not quantifiable in a single number like a stat. If you want to see how good your reputation is, see how many big orders you have in your hold. If you drop a fishmonger quest, you drop a reputation level on each of the fish in the order. If you have a quest for 10 haddock and you drop the quest, the next time a fish monger asks you for haddock you will be asked for 5. It can never go lower than 5. The quantity levels are 5, 10, 15, 20 but you start at 10. There is no other penalty, so don’t worry if you have to dump your orders to dry dock you ship. Mesanna – There is a hard cap for damage increase, so yes they will stack but you can not exceed the cap. Colored Tribal Masks - hidden property TullyMars Q - Occasionally I throw on what can only be described as novelty items on my imbuing vendor. Today I grabbed a couple colored tribal masks. I figured I'd imbue the four resists on it to 80% of their armor ability and then add lrc 18% and sell them as a cheap novelty. So I imbued physical to 16 OK cold to 19 OK poison to 23 OK energy to 18 OK then when I went to imbue LRC it said no more item properties can be added. Hmm Went into the imbuing menu and sure enough it is at 5 properties. I redid my math...yep only added 4. I pulled up an un-imbued one and checked it and sure enough if put on one property I would already be at a 2 count on the properties. What is this hidden property? Is this a bug? Anyone else find this before? Phoenix: I was unable to reproduce this, did a few to try to verify it and each one had 5 properties on them.

The Call to Arms. By WarderDragon. Lord Captain Jenkins of the Britannic Royal Guard requests that Citizens remain vigilant as he and his men continue to investigate the Shipments coming out of Northern Felucca. To protect the identities of the Royal Investigators and prevent their discoveries from falling into the wrong hands the Freeborn Press has chosen not to reveal the details of their meeting at this time. The Town Guard Regiment of New Britain and Royalist Mercenary Companies are to arm themselves and prepare to march before the end of the week. The Captain will be delivering marching orders then. No formal requests for aid have been delivered to the Empress of Zento or the Northern Kingdoms.

Coffee with Lady Damia

This morning I sat down with Zento's Leading Lady and Guild Master of The Mystic Circle, Lady Damia, to learn more about both the lady and the guild. Me: The Mystic Circle is, and always has been, one of the largest guilds on Legends. Were you always the Guild Master? Lady Damia: No, the original guild leader, Caden, was an in game friend of mine for a year before I actually joined the guild. I would see TMC members out hunting and they always looked like they were having a good time and loved each other dearly. I decided that I wanted to be a part of their family, and they welcomed me with open arms. It was like coming home, the people were so friendly and fun to be with. The guild has changed over the years, but what hasn't changed is the fact that we're team oriented, not loot oriented. It's not about making money it's about being with people you love to be with. Me: Could you speak a bit about some of the challenges of maintaining a guild that large? Lady Damia: Well, the guild isn't large anymore, but at one time it was huge. We've never openly recruited, people just seemed drawn to us, and as the guild grew in size we increased the amount of people we had as council and emissaries. We have clearly defined rules which are basically just common sense rules, be nice and try to play well with others. The council acts in my absence, and everything is decided by a majority vote of the council. I'm available 24/7 by cell phone if nothing else,and if the problem warrants immediate action ie: pk'ing a fellow guild mate, the person will be removed from guild by a council member. Really, we've had very few problems. We've always been an adult guild. An "I am better than you" attitude has no place here, so basically the people here are all really nice and if they're not they don't stick around long. I also think weekly meetings and hunts helps gather people together so we can do something as a family. The meetings are not in vent, not by guild chat but a weekly sit down, face to face (so to speak), get together. Kind of like a family dinner, and I think this is important to keep and maintain relationships. Me: The lovely city of Zento is home to many members of The Mystic Circle. Prior to the discovery of those lands was there an area that the guild called home? Lady Damia: When TMC was first founded, our guild house was located up in the snowy mountains of Malas outside Luna. When I took over guild leadership, it moved to a little pond with pixies, next to Gravewater Lake outside Umbra, but our meetings were constantly being disrupted by pixies attacking our necro members, so a new home had to be found. That's when we moved to Zento. Me: Were there any problems assimilating to a life in a foreign land? Were you welcomed by the Royal Family there? Lady Damia: Zento as you probably know is one of the most beautiful cities in Sosoria. The flowers, trees and flowing waterfalls are so peaceful and relaxing. The convenience of living right next to a city is advantageous too, our guild house is right next to a moongate. The Royal Family did welcome us, and help us assimilate to their culture and traditions. Our current Mayor, Mr Crowley, began life as a soldier in Trinsic, but came to these islands to see if the stories he heard from passing merchants and sailors were true. He found a land with untamed areas and strange monsters, he learned the ways of the ninja and samurai and made this his home. So when we came, we came as friends and were welcomed as family. Me: To whom does the guild give loyalty, the Empress or Queen Dawn.... or perhaps someone else? Lady Damia: Our loyalty lies with our Empress of course, but she is allied with Queen Dawn and therefore so are we. The Empress and her allies fought against the tyrany of the self appointed Lord Casca. When Lord Casca came to Zento to conquer Tokuno and bring us under his rule, the Empress put forth a call for help. Many people from all over Sosoria came to help, and successfully fought off Lord Casca's attack. We have friends in many places, and are friends to all of them in return. Me: On a more personal level... when the duties of the guild are dispatched, how does Lady Damia relax? What are your favorite activities? Lady Damia: Relax? No, no, I don't get to relax. I have grandkids, everyday, all the time. I have little 16 month old Hurricane Starr who is a force of nature and leaves a wake of destruction in her path, but she's a Cutie and I love her dearly. When I do find time to myself, and I'm not playing UO, I read or do facebook. My favorite activity, when I get time, is still UO after all these years.

Lost Hall of Commons Report October 24, 2010 HoC, Britain Elder EM Dudley As far as Livery Quests go, some of you are close. Mesanna is designing what will be added. Everything will be at her discretion. -Location will be determined by Mesanna -The design will be universal Elder EM Dudley & EM Drosselmeyer Now Dross and I have been discussing our November Event schedule and in order to catch up on Global Arcs. Including the Posedion's Fury, Sheffield Investigations and other events we have yet to delve into, we are putting all township centric events on Hiatus for the month. This includes Livery Quests and Summit meetings. During this time Dross and I will also be examining the future And determining where we are going with it. Open Floor - Player Questions/Announcements I've been looking at the different town banners and out of curiosity is there a correlation between town sizes and the size of their banner? No. As mentioned, we are evaluating the entire township series FRI NOV 19TH 730 PM BEEG PARTY AT PITMUCK ALL INVITED What has prompted the hiatus of the township events? Our personal decisions over the fact that the Township events are all causing our main scenarios to be postponed and pushed back. At this point, the Poseidons Fury storyline as well as Sheffields investigation. Have been going on for quite some time longer than they were originally planned and that's not a bad thing necessarily, but we feel that we're spending a bit too much time with the township, instead of shard wide events. Is there a way to get your ships around with the new quest without downloading outside programs If you use the Enhanced Client the map is huge. If you are using the classic client World maps help a lot. Any more information on your evaluation of the township series? What you are evaluating? We are looking into really the amount of time we put into it, against what the shard gets out of it as a whole. As you know, we do our best to bring events that are enjoyable to every play type Pvpers, Roleplayers, PVmers, fishers, explorers, puzzle solvers...But, due to EM Dudley's and myself's limited time to devote to it. We are looking into where you will all benefit the most from our time being spent. Nothing has been decided permanently as of yet, and we are going to see...What sort of differences we see next month, with having no township centric events versus this month, which had many in it. I agree... cost vs benefit. We've had towns for years with and without EM events. So towns exist nonetheless. (Not sure where the news report went, but its been redone.)

[Report] Nathan Creepy Story Part 1; Dorian Returns and Royal Guard Bless Gravestone

Tonight the Royal Guard were called to the Counsellor's Hall in Britain to hear a creep story from Nathan Hawke. A large audience awaited for Nathan and his story.

Nathan arrived at 8oclock and began part one of the story.

Nathan Hawke: This is I swear a true story and one that to this day chills me to the bone.

I was not long in the secret service when I was asked to investigate a number of disappearances in the area around Minoc in Felucca. Those who had gone missing were not unusual nor had they any enemies nor were there any bodies, suicide notes, ransom notes or death threats. These were just people who had vanished almost in the middle of what they were doing and without any particular cause or reason.

One dark night I found myself in the middle of a storm far from my lodgings and spying a dilapidated house just a little back from the road, I decided to make camp there for the night. As I approached the front door my instincts seemed to tell me the house was occupied so I knocked on the door instead of just letting myself in. There was no reply and so I entered cautiously and made my way into a meager and run down main room which had very little in it other than a few books of great antiquity. Books from way before my time, possibly a hundred years or more before I was born.

There was one book which caught my eye, an ancient tome bound in leather with great iron clasps holding it shut. It was an old book about the cannibal Antirez and as I picked it up it fell open almost by itself to one page. On that page was an old wood-cut print of a butcher's shop which represented in great detail the work of the cannibal butcher Antirez in his shop. The plate disturbed me, especially in connection with some adjacent passages descriptive of cannibal gastronomy.

Thats cooking for the uneducated. It was at this point that I heard from the room overhead the heavy tread of footsteps..

Leo Madsen: *Stomps on the floor for effect*

Nathan Hawke: *stomp stomp stomp* Nice sound effects

Leo Madsen: Thanks.

Nathan Hawke: You will go far....and I waited in the half-dark for the house's occupant. The footsteps made their way down the stairs and the door handle slowly turned...

The Alarm Bells: You hear the Alarm Bells ringing from Vesper

Just as Nathan was about to find out who stood behind the door, Alarm bells rung out from Vesper! Nathan opened a gate to the Graveyard just near Vesper.

Gravestones began oozing with blood as a group of rotting corpses wondered the graveyard.

When the rotting corpses had been slain an unknown spirit was seen floating inbetween the graves.

Quote:

An Unknown Spirit: "Bloodied graves... They are cursed! These spirits are restless. Curses make the dead restless. Please help these souls, Lift the curse from their graves."

Nathan Hawke: "I'm thinking perhaps of.. Dorian?"

Nathan began to chant Dorians name, The guard joined in... DORIAN!

Everyones eyes span from Nathan to the Unknown Spirit as the spirit said..'You know my name?'.

The guard let Dorian, The unknown spirit, Step forward.

Quote:

Dorian: "These dead need your blessings. Your blessings will lift the curse and let the spirits return to their rest. Please, bless these bloodies graves."

After some thought, Mages began to cast bless on the blood oozing gravestones.

Suddenly a gate opened, The guard entered.

Through the gate, The room where Mericles corpse once lay. Inside, The room was filled with risen mummy guardians.

Once they had been killed another moongate appeared.

Through the second moongate a maze of caverns and tunnels. Bloodsucking Bats filled the first cavern.

Through the next room, What can only be described as the Smoke Monster from Lost, Only Green, Awaited.. The Essence of Death... Guardian!

The Essences of Death were very hard to kill, However didn't do too much damage back, So deaths were quite low.

In the final cavern Nathan Hawke asked Leo Madsen, Of Yew, to blow the place up. With half a finished course under his belt, He began to plant the bomb in an Altar.

At this point in the story, Visually nothing happened. But lets assume the place blew up and we arrived safely back at the Counsellor's Hall.

Back at the Counsellor's Hall, Nathan Hawke asked us to meet tomorrow (Thursday 4th November at 8:15pm GMT, 9:15pm Central European Time, 4:15pm Eastern Daylight Time (New York) for the final part of his creepy story.

With Halloween over I'd like to get a better idea on what everyone on this forum would personally like to see. I have plenty of ideas and stories that are actually ready to be posted but I'd like to also make sure I have something for everyone. A brief description of each poll option FAQs: Answers to questions I often see on the forums or in game, like the staining FAQ I posted last month such as what could, or could not be dyed by the new stains. Tutorials: How to for various decor you see in game, such as beds and couches. House Spotlights & Interviews: Pictorials of houses that you often see people talk about, or homes of people who personally contact one of the reporters to have a tour of their home. Often the home owners will also be interviewed. Public Spotlights: Pictorials of various public homes such as vendor houses, pubs, auction houses, and museums. Again these may be homes we hear about, or that we're contacted by the owners of. Town Spotlights: Pictorials of towns across the shards. These may be towns with banners or without. Same story, We may come across the towns on our own or be contacted. Holiday/Seasonal Deco: Screen shots and ideas for holiday decorations or season deco such as spring gardens, snowy scenes, fall foliage, etc. Deco Ideas: Posts with one specific item or topic in mind. Such as Kitchens, Bathrooms, Pets, Gardens, Ponds/Rivers. Other: If there's something missing from the poll please respond with it. An Interview With EM Helios

Lady DevilsOwn and I sat down with Legend's EM Helios for a brief interview yesterday, and lets just say that it was very interesting. He may be more devious than he looks, he is definately one to keep an eye on, see for yourselves. Lady DevilsOwn and a Rabid Chipmunk interviewing EM Helios at Brit Counselor's Hall Lady DevilsOwn stepped away for a moment, so I got a few questions in while we waited, hopefully she will forgive me. Me: So what is it like to be an EM, and in particular Legend's EM? EM Helios: Well it's really a lot of fun to be an EM. It's a good deal of work to pull off an event, but it's so much fun to see others enjoying themselves, especially these folks here on Legends they've been really good to me and in return I to them! They are a relatively small community and get along well for the most part. It makes it nice. Me: How much prep work goes into a story arc usually? Im sure it is much more than people realize. EM Helios: Oh man! Well to think about an event from start to finish, like an arc is a ton of work! I try and leave lots of room for adlib and diffrent directions folks may take things, even the speed of the arc is thought out. To work an arc event takes location, decoration, story lines of course, good and evil characters, and it has to fall in line with life as we know it here. Me: On that note how have you allowed us to adlib? EM Helios: Well for instance we are near the end of the current story line. Its direction has been heavily influenced by the actions of those who play the shard, Orion the Haunted has appeared many times in Felucca especially. With players working against him and even helping him in instances, causing havoc and hiding the actual objective as well. There have been tremendously hard monsters to defeat, of which if folks gave up (which legends never does!) the arc would have moved in a diffrent direction with evil gaining the upper hand, luckily the will of the players has prevailed. As of now the shard has the upper hand in the event... for now... grins evily DevilsOwn: Helios, I know you cannot go into detail, but as a regular player, on your home shard, do you routinely RP your characters? and which character type do you enjoy the most? EM Helios: Aye I do, as much as possible. I am active in the player towns and I usually play a discord bard for pvp and a necro for spawning. I have a few red dexxors of course. smile I'd say my most used character is the bard though, because it helps in the groups I hunt with. DevilsOwn: The EM program, as it currently stands is what a year or so old? EM Helios: A little over a year old. DevilsOwn: Do you feel it is succeeding? EM Helios: Tremedously, I feel. It's also great to see it spur the shard into player run events like the recent surge of events on our shard. I love what it has done for the game. My first memories of the game were being awed by LIVE stuff waiting to see sherry the mouse in the castle getting handed a royal guard sash, then running home like I had gotten an extra christmas or something. chuckles I'm humbled to be a part of that for others now. DevilsOwn: How long have you lived in the lands? EM Helios: Let's see as an EM I've been here just over a year. As a whole, I arrived with the comming of t2a and Trammel that was like 99, I think. Me: What would you like to see happen on our shard? Not just in event context. EM Helios: Well I'd like to see the community brimmig with good folks, as they are now... just more of em. I would like to see the town recognition take off, grouping like minded guilds and players, working together, and lots more good EM events of course. grins Another thing I'd like to see is I would really like to use the fairgrounds more both with my events and yours (player run). I am working to get the place renovated to be more useable, if that makes sense, I've come up with a way to make Urza's games actually work! Me: Last question from me then is, Anything you can hint at upcomming? Spoiler: show EM Helios: Yes! I can promise one big thing from me, the orc event we missed some time back, we are very log overdue for our orc booties! Along with that I've got a pvp event all set to roll out at the proper time. A custom champ spawn contest of sorts see who's got the juice smile with any luck it may turn into a monthly thing. Along with those.. Orion the Haunted will either reign supreme or meet his timely demise. My next arc is written and ready when we end there. And of course! a new EM counterpart shall debut very soon!

The scent of llamas is in the air... (EM Event)

The autumn harvest is over and winter is just a few weeks away. And all of Britannia is rejoicing, for once again it’s that magical time of year when people from all walks of life from beggar to nobleman come together in friendship, sharing in their love for the most beautiful and noble creature to be found, the llama. So, In celebration of this wonderful time of year, Queen Dawn has decreed that the first annual Atlantic Llama Festival shall be held this Saturday and Sunday, the 13th and 14th of November. At special request (and high expense) of the Throne, the event's host will be none other than the King of Llamas himself, Ralph the Wonderllama! All participants are greatly encouraged to ride only llamas on the weekend of the event (or even the week leading up to the event!), to show your support for these majestic creatures (preferably non-ethereal llamas). The Britannia Royal Zoo will be bringing in dozens of rideable llamas for people to tame as well, so no one will be left llamaless. The tamers of the realm are encouraged to help supply llamas to those people who can't obtain one themselves. There will be a special Llama Festival chat channel created for those who don't like to use General chat. Each event will be announced on the channel 30 minutes, 15 minutes, and 5 minutes prior to the event's start. General chat will not be used to announce the start of any event other than the final top-secret one. There will be five official Llama Festival events, but our llama-loving players are very welcome to stage their own llama-themed events to supplement the official ones. The official event itinerary is as follows: 3:00 PM EST Saturday, November 13th: The Herd Mentality Oh no! the poor llamas of Terra Sanctum are being attacked by dire wolves! Can the shepherds of Britannia save the herd before its too late? [herding event] 6:00 PM EST Saturday, November 13th: Storytelling Ralph wants to hear a story! But not just any story - every storyteller will be given a bag with two random items in it. The storyteller will have 30 seconds to look at the items in the bag and think of a story, and then three minutes to tell it. The rules are: The story must involve the two items in some way, the story must be llama-themed in some way, and the story has to be family-friendly. 3:00 PM EST Sunday November 14th: Thieves! a shipment of food from Ralph's distant kingdom was captured by pirates and hidden in Jhelom. But the thieves were caught, and now the food is just waiting for someone to take it back to Ralph. [Thief event, takes place in Fel, rules for the game will be explained at the start of the event] 6:00 PM EST Sunday, November 14th: Homesick Ralph is feeling a little homesick, so he's called for the mages of Britannia to help bring him a little bit of home while he's visiting us. The first mage to summon a Llama Vortex wins! All mages are advised to bring 100% LRC suits and as much mana regen as possible [mage event] Sometime after the mage event, Sunday, November 14th: ???? This event is top secret! The start of the event and its location will be announced on the General Chat channel AND the special Llama Festival channel within two hours of the conclusion of the mage event. Participants are advised to show up ready for anything! Will it be a tea party with Ralph the Wonderllama? Or will it be total death and destruction for everyone in Britannia? Hall of Commons Report Sunday, October 31, 2010 Hall of Commons, Britain EM Events Preview For November Major push for global events which includes -The Poseidon's Fury (Recovering 2 map pieces) -Sheffield Investigation continues -Tavalia Zodok continues (Could they be linked?) -PvP Battles with the new content Elder EM Dudley We'll be doing our first ship to ship combat event next month. The changes to Saltpeter, charge crafting and what not, should make it pretty easy to supply yourselves the charges needed for the ship cannons. You can buy as much as you want from the vendor at the Market and the price goes up 1gp in price every 1000 sold. The saltpeter, charcoal, sulfurous ash, black powder and the potash are all 1/10th of a stone each. Novembers EM Event Schedule will be out soon, once EM Dudley and EM Drosselmeyer finalize it. Keep your eye on the EM Forums. Open Floor - Player Questions Can we get a little more warning for events than posts the same day? I know a lot of people, myself included, who didn't make the pumpkin patch events, because we didn't know about them. The event was first announced at the Hall of Commons meeting on October 10th. The second event was announced from the first event. Over two hundred people showed up I am sorry that you missed it, but we put stuff up as early as we can. Did the blue crystals fall through the cracks again? I have no information on that, Sorry. The pumpkin patch thing was... different...perhaps a ticket system of some kind next time, for a little more fair entry? It was just meant to be a fun little thing for Halloween. That makes it way complicated and adds more setup. As it was over 200 people finished the puzzle. Last years event at this time was allot more fair. A few player's tried your puzzle and didn't get? That was a global event we didn't design that. The Dev team did with tools a lot more extensive then ours. What about the ones who did your puzzle and didn't get past the 1st or 4th stage? What your saying to us is to bad? They didn't complete the puzzle, that's sort of how it works. The objective was to finish the puzzle. Seeing as how over 200 people finished it, it's difficulty was about where it was targeted. (Unable to hear exact question) We don't eject for interruptions, we eject for cross talking. Which is addressing anyone other than the EM, or talking without the floor. It's a judgment call on the EMs part. If it is an obvious accident then that's one thing. If it's someone trying to answer the question for the EM, or making commentary when they don't have the floor they get ejected. The summit is an in character meeting, this is an out of character meeting. There is allowed to be discussion between people at the Summit, not here.

Tuesday, 10:30 p.m. EST – Story Night around the campfire. The theme will be scary/horror stories, so prepare your most terrifying and we’ll see you at the Reward Hall campfire. Wednesday, 8 p.m. EST – Foot Race! Meet at the fairgrounds. Friday, 8:30 p.m. EST – Battle against the fiercest monsters Britannia has to offer in a PvM contest. Teams of four – any template compositions. The teams who defeat the monsters in the best times, win. Saturday, 7 p.m. EST – PvP contest. This will be a solo contest, one on one.
