Assassination Plot Thwarted. Brigands Captured or Killed. By WarderDragon When? Tuesday the 30th of March at 7:30PM Pacific (10:30 Eastern) Where? The Dawn Royal Palace; The Kingdom of Dawn (Felucca) On Saturday, the 27th of March, a handful of individuals began to assemble within the Royal Senate Chamber of Castle Britannia. Their purpose? A Council of War. Those who had come had done so at the behest of Lord Nicholas Tarrant, once a Knight of the Silver Serpent, who had recently received word of an imminent attack upon the Kingdom of Dawn in the Old World. The Dark Knight arrived just after sundown and was greeted by the few arrayed within: Grand Duchess Wildstar and Sir Zackarias of Dawn, Guardsman Yalp and Guardsman Strider of the New Britain Town Guard, Newt Longbow and Snow Drake of the Covenant of the Dark Moon, Thorin Ironbeard and Kita Talith of the Golden Knighthood, and Proserpina. It was, as he would later remark with an amused smirk, less than one might hope for but far more than he would have expected given the very poignant animosity between the Kingdoms of Britannia and Dawn. Nicholas, wasting little time, proceeded to explain their purpose and the events having led up to that point. He detailed how three months before he had come upon a lone Corporal Brackus of the New Britain Town Guard wandering the wilderness of Dawn. It was not more than a couple hours following the Siege of Castle Orobas. He remarked how strange it was for the Guardsman to be so far from his post; wandering the outer edges of the aging city-state as though he were touring the place, but wearing his uniform as if he were there on official business. Nicholas had tracked him through the woods; and described how the Guardsman had been set upon by a group of eight thugs brandishing crude knives and cudgels. He would appear from the shadows of those trees, wielding his own weapon of choice, Broad Sword and Halberd spinning together in a proverbial Dance of Death. It would be on the form of a gutted, dying brigand desperately trying to stuff his entrails back into his body that the Corporal would discover a contract. A contracted written by a Lord Nemus. It contained all the usual drivel; do not fail me or I shall have your head. These increased attacks, as they would later confirm, had not been the work of roving bands of brigands and thugs aimlessly raiding the countryside; but instead was the product of an organized plot to infiltrate the Kingdom and terrorize its citizenry. Brackus pointed the contract out to Nicholas. But when the Knight knelt down to inspect the bloodied piece of vellum; the bodies and the parchment burst into flame and were consumed in the conflagration. The last dying screams of the failed assassins echoed through the night air. Someone didn’t want them to know about Nemus. The next few months would remain auspiciously quiet. Nicholas had warned the Grand Duchess of the thread poised by this Lord Nemus; but no further signs of the brigands sponsor seemed to emerge. It was not until this last week that, by pure trick of fate or happenstance; Nicholas and Lindae would overhear a small group of drunken ruffians describing the ‘job’ they would soon perform in the Kingdom of Dawn. Nicholas unrolled a map depicting the Hyperborean North; namely the Kingdom of Dawn, the nearby region of Avalon, the Hordelands, the Duskwood, and the Valderian Wilderness. He then explained the importance of their task. The increased attacks had come swiftly on the heel of threats made against Dawn’s Crowned Prince Riain by the Britannian Purity League. The League was not at all pleased with the Kingdom’s open support of the Holy Empire of Tel Mur; and was willing to threaten and harass Dawnite citizens in an attempt to punish them for their heresy. And if Britannia continued to allow its citizens to threaten the Kingdom of Dawn, it could be taken as an indirect act of aggression against the Throne of the Blue Rose. Meanwhile, the Nine arrived at the Southern Gate of the Kingdom of Dawn & Avalon; otherwise known as Wrath Guard Keep. No guards were present. No watchmen. No defenders. The Kingdom no longer supported a full garrison of armed Knights. This was like stealing candy from a youngling in New Haven. Wandering into the Vale of Dusk, they encountered no resistance. Sid Vicious, that traitorous spy, would soon pay for his defiance of their employer. And they would be paid well for their efforts. Or so they thought. The War Party arrived through a Waygate in the midst of the Avalonian wilderness. The party rode East; and upon their arrival in Dawn they split into three groups. Yalp would lead his men into Southern Dawn, while Zackarias would guard the Sorceresses Wildstar and Proserpina in the Northern Duchy. Nicholas alone would ride north to the Rouvale Coast. If he came upon the brigands; it was better no one see how he intended to handle the situation. Yalp’s men would encounter the Brigands near the Vale of Dusk; the malefactors startled to see two Britannian Guardsmen and two Covenant Bowmen emerging from the tree line. Some fought. Some fled. The sounds of battle would summon the others south. Several of the brigands were killed or wounded; most unwilling to be taken alive. But Yalp, Newt, Strider, and Snow managed to round up several and began to lead them north to the Royal Guard Jail. Asha the Brigand studied Nicholas, the ‘Silver Fox,’ with a hint of surprise and contempt. The man from the tavern had orchestrated this. But how could they have known some aging swordsman would interfere in their plans? Not willing at first to give herself over; Nicholas managed to convince her that if she surrendered, he might be merciful. The alternative was certain death. She dropped her weapon. Nicholas didn’t hesitate. With a quickness that would have shamed the spring of a ravenous panther, he swooped, grasped the girls arm just as she began to reconsider; twisting her arm behind her back and binding her hands with a black silken cord he had taken from his throat. The Brigands were led one by one into the jail. Nicholas dismissed the others; and remaining with Zackarias and Proserpina, he began to question the group. Mark the Brigand stepped forward. He had admitted that they had been employed; but he would say nothing of his employer or his purposes without assurances of their safety. In an apparent act of loyalty, he offered his full cooperation in exchange for the release of his companions; most notably the woman. Nicholas smirked and revealed the contracts he had collected. It told him what he needed to know. To Proserpina and Zackarias’ surprise, the Knight told the Sorceress to drag Mark back to the Dawn Royal Palace and extract a confession from him. To show no mercy. And he warned the other brigands that they were next. He spent the next couple hours studying them. At first they turned on each other like rabid dogs; and it was easy to see who would turn on another and play themselves against one another. But slowly they began to gather themselves against their common foe. It was startlingly sweet. But Nicholas’ patience had grown thin. He threw open the doors; heavy metal bars slamming against the opposite wall. Flecks of amber danced across his vision as he strode into the room. Leaf, their apparent leader, barely had a moment to scream before he was slammed against the wall. “Who is your leader!?” Nicholas snarled violently. Not waiting for an answer, he grabbed the brigand by the hair, smashing his face into the bars with a sickening crack. “Who is Nemus!?” The brigand felt himself being thrown against the wall like a rag doll. “Where is he!?” Asha screamed. Bria watched in horror. And Leaf cracked. He revealed where he intended to meet their employers Chief Seneschal, Alexander O’Shea. The Theater of J’helom on Tuesday, March 30th at Sunset (8PM PST). And he revealed their purpose. To punish Sid Vicious. The Knight turned and strode out of the cell. He had the confession he wanted. Looking back at the startled group, he curled his lips into a smirk. Yes, they would prove useful. | ||

This afternoon Origins will be updated to Publish 65, these changes are currently available on Test Center; however, there are a number of new improvements added to the list as well (yay Gargoyle Artifacts!) Have fun, we can't wait to hear your feedback! Publish 65 Notes Mysticism Revamp * Cleansing Winds o Changes + Cleansing Winds will now affect players in a small area around the target as well + Players or creatures may be the direct target of the Cleansing Winds spell, however, players in the area must be in the casters party in order to receive the beneficial effects of the spell. + Pets can be directly targeted, but will not receive the spell benefits as part of the area effect. + WARNING: This spell will flag the caster as a criminal if a criminal or murderer party member is close enough to the target to receive the benefits from the area of effect (be very careful of who you party with, especially in town) + This effect can hit up to 3 additional players beyond the primary target + The effectiveness of the spell is reduced by the number of targets affected + The total healing, cure chance, remove curse chance are based on the skill of the caster. + If a target is cured the healing they received will be reduced proportionately to the level of poison that was cured. If the cure fails, the target will not be healed. * Spell Plague o Changes + Spell Plague hits the target with an explosion of chaos energy. + The residual energy from the chaos explosion can continue to erupt when the target takes additional damage. + Each subsequent explosion does decreasing amounts of damage, until the residual energy has been dissipated in a maximum of 3 explosions or after a duration of 8 seconds. There is a minimum of 1 second between each residual explosion. + If a target is already affected with a spell plague, each additional spell plague will take effect after the previous one expires. (The initial chaos explosion takes effect immediately and can trigger the secondary explosions of spell plague) * Sleep/Mass Sleep o Changes + Sleep will no longer prevent targets from casting spells or attacking + Sleep will place the target in a state of stupor for a period determined by the caster’s skills and the target’s Resist Spells skill. + While in this state they will have their casting, casting recover, attack, and movement speed severely reduced. + If target receives damage during this period, the stupor effect will be broken + Immunity has been changed to the following scale, 3-12 second scaling by player Magic Resist skill. Player must have 30 or more resist to extent sleep immunity beyond 3 seconds. * Enchant o Changes + Base duration has increased + Duration of the enchanted effect will scale based on the level of the spell enchanted * Purge Magic o Changes + Players can be purged based off the immunity timer which is calculated off the skills mysticism and focus vs the targets resisting spells skill (This value range is from 1 to 6 seconds) + If the target re-applies a purged buff or buff that contains a purged buff the target can be immediately purged of that buff (example: bless after a strength purge) + Players must have mysticism and focus/imbuing close to the level of the spell they are attempting to purge New Effect · If there are no valid beneficial wards that can be purged, the target will have their mana requirements to increase based on the skill of the caster for a duration of 8 seconds. Upon ending the disruption, magic energy will rush into the target causing an explosion of chaos energy · The target can remove the disruption to their mana flow by doing damage to any other player or creature before the effect dispels itself. Additionally the damage taken by the target scales with how long the disruption has been in effect · The target will be immune to purge effects for an additional 16 seconds if they are affected by the mana disruption. * Healing Stone - This spell summons a healing stone into the caster’s backpack which is only usable by the caster and will heal the caster instantly upon use. Changes: · The healing stone will have stored life energy or healing points which determine how many times the stone can be used before being destroyed. (The life energy is determined by the casters mysticism and focus/imbuing skills) · The maximum amount the stone can heal for in a single usage is determined by the caster’s mysticism and focus/imbuing skills) · The stone now has healing energy which determines how much of the maximum healing can be used at a time. This healing energy is completely consumed with each use and must take time to recharge before being able to heal for the maximum amount. · The cool down on healing usage for the stone is 2 seconds, and it takes 15 seconds to replenish the stone’s energy completely.. · The healing stone can now be used to cure poison. The chance to cure is based on the user’s mysticism and focus/imbuing skills. The life energy cost to cure poison is based on the level of poison. Failing to cure poison only costs 1/3rd of the life energy as curing. · Curing will not affect the stone’s energy. · Summoning time for the Healing Stone has been increased significantly Gargoyle Wearable Alterations and Crafting * Wing Armor was added to convert the back slot (currently only leather is available) * Gargish Leather Talons have been added for conversion from footwear. (other material types will be in the future) * Gargish half apron has been added to the gargoyle wearables * Gargish glasses has been added to the gargoyle wearables * Gargish sash has been added to the gargoyle wearables Navrey Adjustments * Navrey’s respawn timer has been reduced to 10 minutes * Navrey’s drop rate has been increased Gargoyle Racial Abilities Update Berserk · Once a gargoyle has lost 20% of his/her health, he/she gains 15% damage bonus and 3% SDI. This increases damage another increment for each 20% additional damage (maximum 60% damage bonus and 12% SDI). Deadly Aim · All Gargoyles are trained from childhood in the skill of Throwing, giving them a basic competence with missile weapons (minimum gargoyle skill in throwing is 200). · Gargoyles receive a 5% bonus to hit that stacks with HCI and skill bonus. · Gargoyle’s hit chance cap has been increased to 50%. Mystic Insight · Gargoyles have an intuitive understanding of Mysticism, allowing them to cast Mysticism spells without further training. (minimum gargoyle skill in Mysticism is 300). · Gargoyles receive +2 Mana Regeneration which stacks with Meditation and Focus. Titles Customization * New titles customization menu is now available through the “Open Titles Menu” choice in the context menu on your paperdoll * Titles may now be customized in the following locations o Paperdoll Name (prefix) o Paperdoll Name (Suffix) o Overhead Name (shown in your All Names and first line of your item properties tooltip) o Subtitle (shown in the second line of your item properties tooltip Each title location will have different categories available, including o Monster (Champion Spawns) o Guild (Abbreviation & Custom Title) o Reward (Community Collections & Special Events) o Skills o Fame/Karma (Reputation) Additional Changes o Skill Titles may now be used in your Overhead Name location (as a suffix, such as “the swordsman”) and required skill levels be above 90.0 to be available. o Skill and monster titles may now be used in your Subtitle Location o Several skills which have similar titles have been updated Tents have returned to Gyspy Camps · Gypsy Camps now spawn with their tents. · The tents are now persistent and are no longer instantly deleted after creation · The spawn locations of the treasure chests, campfire and kettle, trash pile, and gypsies are now randomized · The template now spawns 4 to 6 gypsies instead of 4 · The gypsies and their treasure chests now occasionally spawn with enhanced loot. The Masako's Misfortunes Event has been moved to March, 31, 2010 at 6:30 PM EST Lady Masako, a sorceress of Tokuno was robbed! Many years ago ninjas infiltrated Masako's castle and stole her treasures. Recently one of the ninjas was mortally wounded while fleeing imperial samurai guards. Just before he died, the ninja confessed that Masako’s treasures were hidden by the Red Widow Clan. When the imperial samurai investigated they found nothing. Lady Masako will seek out mercenaries to follow the trail of the legendary Red Widow ninjas at the Zento Bank. | ||

The PRIZE will be: you'll be Immortalized in a hand painted portrait of your character in watercolors (you will be asked for a screenshot of your paperdoll and shipping address if you win) painted by me and will be given 25 million gold in addition to that. The THEME: Fae Contest rules: 1. You must stick to the theme of fae based decor. G-V Shard Event a Deadly Hit ! Guardians of Valhalla held a shard event this evening, the 28th of March, 9pm eastern, 8 pm central. This event was hunting the Champ Spawn in the Twisted Weild. I had never done this spawn to its end and it was most exciting. G-V had it well planned out with a food, aids, ress station set up and they were all needed! REA, -Y-, LOTF, XV, FHA, MAH were a few of the guilds joining in on the fun. G-V plans on doing a monthly event and if next months is as exciting as this one I will be sure to be there. Sosarian Fair Chesapeake Celebrates the Opening of The Sosarian Solstice Fair The official opening of the realms newly renamed fairgrounds attracted player from near and far as the night of events hosted by EM Dudley christened the grounds. First on tap for the nights fun was field trip! Upon gathering inside the big tent it was announced a battle of intellect and wit would be the nights first event as patrons and onlookers alike journied via moongate to the depths of the recently discovered underwater caverns. A fish naming contest took place as several species were asked to be indentified. After all the fish had been shown entrants turned in thier books to Dudley for perousal! Dudley then announced he would be judging the entries on the categories of Actual Accuracy, Creativeness, and Single Most Creative Fish Name. Winners shall be announced at Sundays House of Commons Meeting. Good Luck to All! Next up was the Archery Contest! With marksmen each taking 5 shots apeice, the field took aim at best shot of the fair. In the end, it was Joseph of Zed who took the nights top prize besting Nilla in a close match. Congrats Joseph! After a few ales and stories of shots good and bad we journied to the neighboring arena for a round of the "Queens Strongman Competition" in which citizens tested thier mettle with War Hammers in timed bouts against Ogres! Besting the nights field was Killian (SHE) in a miraculous showing of speed and agility! Congrats Killian! A grand time was had by all indeed as special thanks go out to Dudley for a fun night of opening ceremonies! Thanks to Mesanna for her time and dedication on the project as well as its initial designer Gareth! With any luck these grounds will serve us well in the coming years! | ||

. A Beautiful Bridge Wedding ~ Several weeks ago I received an invite to a wedding that took place today ( March 28th ). The invitation was a pouch that contained a lovely rose, a sweet treat, a delicate origami butterfly of the palest shade of yellow and a rune to the ceremony location. Little did I know this rune would take me to one of the most romantic places in the realm. This was the wedding of the famous Alina and her paramour Willard Wonker and the location was a bridge. EM Elizabella decorated this outdoor location in the color theme of the wedding which was a pale turquoise and silvery white. The entire bridal partys outfit was designed and made by one of the Luna's larger vendor shop owners and vintage tailors. As EM Elizabella was organizing things the guests started to arrive which included the handsome and popular DJ Scorp, moneybags himself Uncle Ben, the sexy Melian, bright eyed Lee'Lee, crazy for COCOPUFF, Dr. Phil, SLASH, the sly Sylance Raynes, Cobra Lily, Lord Cire, Chelsey, StewieWTDGiffin, Padre, Thanatas Angelos, and the local celeb..... none other than Lord Magnus Grey..... just to name a few. As the wedding went off without a hitch the bride and groom said their " I do's " as the water rushed below them. Water welled in the eyes of the guests emotional over this joyous union. The vendors sell runebooks that go to EM Building locations used in Roleplay and other events. They have also made runebooks to each Player Run Township on the shard. They are for sale for 5,000 gold each but, you may request a free one from the Sages when you see them. They are not doing this to make a profit they are trying help the community be able to get to event locations easier. Over time as new locations are created on our shard they will have updated individual runes for you to get and update your runebooks. From recent reports the Imperium and SKS Fleets have recruited six to seven ready and able captains. It is unknown if the townships of Nidaros, Gyldenfeld or Skara Brae (The Crown) have been informed about this fleet training. Extra security measures have been taken to make sure Scarlet Von Trinsic does not get her slimy hands on the new fleet. Tonkaweya Tribe Treasure Compassion, Ilshenar March 23, 2010 The Tonkaweya Tribe canceled their Savage Sponsored hunt for unknown reasons last week. We now know it was due to a secrete mission lead by Niva The Savage. The Savages sent a scouting party to Ilshenar to obtain tribal berries for paint and Savage Berry Wine. So the savages say....they claim that during the Berrie gathering they came upon a worker and "acquired" a recipe for Savage Ale. Since the Sages in the village are making Savage Berry Wine perhaps the Tribe will...kindly ask (threaten) the Sages to start creating Savage Ale. The Red Savage Tribe where the Tonkaweya Tribe "Acquired" the recipe from has not sent retaliation that we know of. However the Red Tribe does have an outpost South of the Homare-Jima moongate. They made their presence known last year by attacking Kijustsu Anei Village. Ingame News Vendors Kijustsu Anei Village March 22, 2010 The Ethereal Void News organization has added new ingame vendors to help distribute news to the community for those that do not use the forums. These vendors will have news reports stocked from out of game areas. Located at the Crafters Hall and Iron Bandit Inn (Kijustsu Anei Village, Homare-Jima, Tokuno islands) Merik the current News Manager of the Ethereal Void News and UOSS reporter, will try to keep the news up to date as it comes out on the forums. Please keep in mind that it does take time to put the news into book form, make copies and then stock them. Merik also announced, any township wishing to do a similar project with their own news reporting organizations will be given proper access to the ingame books for copy. However Merik cannot be responsible for setting up and maintaining other township news vendors. Although he would love to be that helpful it is just to large of a commitment for one person to make. Sages Brew Savage Berry Wine Sage Tower March 21, 2010 Society Of Ancestral Guardians Elders better know as [S@GE]. Have begun to brew a new drink at the Sage tower located in Kijustsu Anei Village. A new wine called "Savage Berry" will be mass produced as one of the Villages leading exports. This light tasting blue berry yet very intoxicating wine can be ordered directly through the Sages. The Skeleton Key Shipping company will make deliveries to any town or tavern that puts in an order. Keep in mind that the shipping company does charge for delivery. Sheffield was pleased to see such a good turn out. Once everyone was settled Sheffield addressed the eager soon to be guards. "Commander Foxx is still in charge of the Royal Guards. Tonight we are looking for a Reserve Royal Guard Unit. You can be called upon to help in matters when needed....." Before Sheffield could even finish his address to everyone the throne room came under attack by Miasma creatures. Once the creatures were defeated everyone gathered back in the main throne room, to hear the rest of what Sheffield had to say. "This is why we need a reserve unit of the Royal Guards. The attacks can happen at any time and any city. I will work on something to identify you in the future like a sash for all to see. I need to get with the Royal Tailor. You will not be required to join a guild to be apart of the Royal Guard." After questions from the people in attendance Sheffield opened the floor to nominations for the Deputy Commander position. Winfield, Gareth, Delta Butch and Celestial Knight were nominated and ask to say a few words to the people. Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail.. Hippity.. Hoppity.. Peter Cottontail and his band of helper rabbits made too many Easter Eggs for the children of Sosaria this year! Peter decided that instead of letting them go to waste, he would hide them at a secret location, and hold the servers largest Easter Egg Hunt ever! There will be over 300 'Easter Eggs' hidden around a secret location or locations. When you crack open these eggs, you'll find a prize. There is no limit on the amount of Eggs you can find! We will be gating from the Luna and Brit Banks 20 minutes prior to the start of the hunt. Rules will be announced at 9:50pm and 9:55pm EST. At 10:00pm the Location of the Easter Eggs will be given. FoA Blows up Shame moongate (2nd Level) FoA Blows up Shame moongate (2nd Level) March 27, 2010 By: Promaitha An unknown blue guild had decided to pop a Harrower on chessy. FoA swiftly invaded and destroyed the defending forces. While some went to kill the harrower many of the FoA stayed behind to defend it from intruders. Word rang out across all shards that FoA was holding a harrower...Icqs sent by Madshark promised a swift UHOH fleet to come and try to kill us. Instead of UHOH , an army of GS poured through, and with many spells and explosions all died. In the aftermath , it was found FoA had also killed the moongate which was the only exit out of the dungeon. More blues dropped in, and came to realize they had no escape. FoA waited and killed anyone coming in, reaping the benefit of destroying a moongate. About 20 minutes later a GM replaced the spot with a brand new gate for people to leave. | ||

Thugs Stir Trouble at the Golden Brew Tavern By WarderDragon On Thursday, the 25th of March, a mob of foul-smelling ruffians and uncouth drunks began to gather at the Golden Brew Tavern near Justice Lake in Northern Britannia. While such gatherings are not uncommon and seldom inspire serious note; the audible slips exchanged by this merry band of inebriated malefactors hinted to patrons that something sinister was about to occur. And if the words exchanged shortly following their departure was of any indication; whatever was about to happen would surely end ankle deep in blood. Sara (TAO) arrived to discover a common room in chaos. The eight scarlet-clad thugs had made themselves at home; breaking furniture, smashing the china, and demanding more whiskey for all their troubles. When their lecherous eyes fell upon Kita, the Proprietor and Grand Master of the Golden Knighthood, they proceeded to describe the woman by all sorts of rude and uncivil names. A patron later that evening would remark how fortunate they were that Master Ironbeard didn’t administrate the scoundrels a Pickaxe Lobotomy. Nicholas Tarrant heard the commotion as he approached the fabled tavern, slowing his black charger to a walk. As he emerged from the trees, he watched as Kita threw Zog and another brigand out for fighting and stealing food from her cats’ dish. The Knight eyed the man suspiciously – scarlet-clad ruffians usually were the first signs of an impending headache – but ignored them as he stepped through the door into the smoke-filled common room. Neither man wore the distinctive red headband that marked them as Redcaps. As Nicholas proceeded through the throng, his wolfish eyes catching Thorin standing behind the bar; the Knight was set upon by two loosely dressed woman wearing the same distinctive scarlet-hue as their companions outside. Seeking an escape before he was molested; a hooded figure emerged from the shadows, clutching his sleeves and tugging him away. “Silver Fox?” Nicholas curled his lip into a sardonic smirk. The two men looked at each other and shook their heads. The brigands, including those who had been thrown out only moments before, gathered around a table in the center of the common room. The eight whispered in low, hushed voices; exchanging plans regarding their upcoming “Job.” Zog couldn’t seem to contain his excitement, or his drink; loudly announcing that they would strike just after sunset on Saturday, March 27th (8PM PST) in the Kingdom of Dawn (The Dark World of Felucca). Lindae leaned over. “Did he just say ‘Dawn’, Lord Nicholas?” “Yes,” Nicholas murmured. “He did.” The Knight lifted a finger, curling; summoning Lady Kita close to him. “M’lady,” he murmured. “Those men look thirsty. Dehydrated.” The faintest annunciation of a sinister smirk played across his lips. “Why don’t you get them another round of drinks? I’ll take care of the tab.” “How philanthropic of you,” Lindae shook his head. The brigands continued to speak of their plans; the Knight and the Necromancer listening closely for any audible slip of the tongue. And there were many. Ask the Devs Week in Review Starting today we'll do a weekly recap of the Ask the Devs forum of topics answered by the UO Team. SchezwanBeefy asked a question regarding titles that we are now seeing on test center for publish 65: I remember the Devs stating in a FOF (I couldn't seem to find the FOF but did manage to find where Draconi stated that they think the title system may be broken. After that, I believe it was looked into and they decided to make it so we could choose the title to display) that the Spawn title system was going to be changed so that players could pick from our various titles and choose which we wanted to have displayed (ie. Eradicator of the Vermin Horde, Slayer of the Cold Blood, etc). Was this ever implemented and I just missed it? If so, how do I get to it? Was it just forgotten or are the Devs still working on it? BTeng_Mythic Replied: Yep, you'll be seeing more customization options for your titles in this coming publish. And not just for spawn titles, but for skill titles and other various things as well. Stay tuned! Warsong of LS, LordDrago, Assassin Luke and Walker B all asked questions about the Commodity Deeds in relation to Community Collections. Phoenix_Mythic replied: For Community Collections, we are currently working on allowing the donation of commodity deeds, and adding a donation bag. Work is in the early stages as of now, and more details will be forthcoming at a later date. DarkVoid compared the journey skills of palandins having an advantage over mages when recalling: I looked it up and it says that using the recall spell button on the page for a location in the rune book instead of using the corresponding button in the index menu at the front of the book should not use up a charge in a rune book. Yet, when any of my characters use the recall spell button on individual pages in a rune book using the Classic client they have to wait for the rune book to recharge instead of being able to immediately use it again. My paladin who uses Sacred Journey in a rune book can SJ around continuously without having to wait for the rune book to recharge if he just uses the buttons on the individual pages of the rune book to cast SJ. Why does a mage using the corresponding buttons in the same location have to wait for the rune book to recharge? Please look into this and see if you can find an answer to why the system works this way. It seems to disadvantage players for just being a mage that can successfully cast recall. I reckon this should be fixed if it's bugged, and if it's "working as designed" that the design should be revised so that paladins don't get an advantage over mages. Phoenix_Mythic replied: We are currently working on a change to rune books that will reduce or eliminate the "recharge delay". More details will be forthcoming at a later date. Whitestar4016 asked for clarity on the Cavern of the Discarded drops in the Abyss: Does everything that is tossed into a trash barrel end up in the cavern? Or is there a "failure" rate or "success" depending on how you phrase it of items ending up there? I "as an experiment" placed about 100 communication crystals into various trash cans. Yet I only saw about 8 show up. Is this normal? Thought that folks would like to know. Enjoy Phoenix_Mythic replied: Items thrown into trash cans have a 10% chance of being sent to the Cavern of the Discarded. EM Announcements Week of March 22nd Fair Games (EM Dudley) Apologies for the technical difficulties this evening. Imperium & SKS Fleets Arrive Kijustsu Anei Keys (Tram) March 23, 2010 The first ships of the Ethereal Void Imperium and Skeleton Key Shipping Company fleets have arrived. They were safely delivered to the Skeleton Coast on the East side of Kijustsu Anei Keys. Where the fleet was commissioned has been deemed "Classified" by the Imperium leadership. The Imperium did however release the vessels names for each ship. Additionally, the following change will be going live World Wide during normal maintenance, thank you: Publish 64.0.0.3 Players will receive a warning gump when they step on the House Teleporter Tiles to prevent you from being teleported without your permission. Publish 65 Notes Happy April Fools - *Evil Grin* You didn’t think we forgot, did you? Mysticism Revamp Cleansing Winds Changes Cleansing Winds will now affect players in a small area around the target as well Players or creatures may be the direct target of the Cleansing Winds spell, however, players in the area must be in the casters party in order to receive the beneficial effects of the spell. Pets can be directly targeted, but will not receive the spell benefits as part of the area effect. WARNING: This spell will flag the caster as a criminal if a criminal or murderer party member is close enough to the target to receive the benefits from the area of effect (be very careful of who you party with, especially in town) This effect can hit up to 3 additional players beyond the primary target The effectiveness of the spell is reduced by the number of targets affected The total healing, cure chance, remove curse chance are based on the skill of the caster. If a target is cured the healing they received will be reduced proportionately to the level of poison that was cured. If the cure fails, the target will not be healed. Spell Plague Changes Spell Plague hits the target with an explosion of chaos energy. The residual energy from the chaos explosion can continue to erupt when the target takes additional damage. Each subsequent explosion does decreasing amounts of damage, until the residual energy has been dissipated in a maximum of 3 explosions or after a duration of 8 seconds. There is a minimum of 2 seconds between each residual explosion. If a target is already affected with a spell plague, each additional spell plague will take effect after the previous one expires. (The initial chaos explosion takes effect immediately and can trigger the secondary explosions of spell plague) Sleep/Mass Sleep Changes Sleep will no longer prevent targets from casting spells or attacking Sleep will place the target in a state of stupor for a period determined by the caster’s skills and the target’s Resist Spells skill. While in this state they will have their casting, casting recover, attack, and movement speed severely reduced. If target receives damage during this period, the stupor effect will be broken Targets will be immune to Sleep for 26 seconds after the initial stupor effect beings, and immune to Mass Sleep is for 20 seconds Enchant Changes Base duration has increased Duration of the enchanted effect will scale based on the level of the spell enchanted Purge Magic Changes Players can only be purged once every 8 seconds Players must have mysticism and focus/imbuing close to the level of the spell they are attempting to purge New Effect If there are no valid beneficial wards that can be purged, the target will have their mana requirements to increase based on the skill of the caster for a duration of 8 seconds. Upon ending the disruption, magic energy will rush into the target causing an explosion of chaos energy The target can remove the disruption to their mana flow by doing damage to any other player or creature before the effect dispels itself. Additionally the damage taken by the target scales with how long the disruption has been in effect The target will be immune to purge effects for an additional 16 seconds if they are affected by the mana disruption. Healing Stone - This spell summons a healing stone into the caster’s backpack which is only usable by the caster and will heal the caster instantly upon use. Changes: · The healing stone will have stored life energy or healing points which determine how many times the stone can be used before being destroyed. (The life energy is determined by the casters mysticism and focus/imbuing skills) · The maximum amount the stone can heal for in a single usage is determined by the caster’s mysticism and focus/imbuing skills) · The stone now has healing energy which determines how much of the maximum healing can be used at a time. This healing energy is completely consumed with each use and must take time to recharge before being able to heal for the maximum amount. · The cool down on healing usage for the stone is 2 seconds, and it takes 15 seconds to replenish the stone’s energy completely.. · The healing stone can now be used to cure poison. The chance to cure is based on the user’s mysticism and focus/imbuing skills. The life energy cost to cure poison is based on the level of poison. Failing to cure poison only costs 1/3rd of the life energy as curing. · Curing will not affect the stone’s energy. · Summoning time for the Healing Stone has been increased significantly Gargoyle Wearable Alterations and Crafting * Wing Armor was added to convert the back slot (currently only leather is available) * Gargish Leather Talons have been added for conversion from footwear. (other material types will be in the future) * Gargish half apron has been added to the gargoyle wearables * Gargish glasses has been added to the gargoyle wearables * Gargish sash has been added to the gargoyle wearables Navrey Adjustments * Navrey’s respawn timer has been reduced to 10 minutes * Navrey’s drop rate has been increased Gargoyle Racial Abilities Update Berserk · Once a gargoyle has lost 20% of his/her health, he/she gains 15% damage bonus and 3% SDI. This increases damage another increment for each 20% additional damage (maximum 60% damage bonus and 12% SDI). Deadly Aim · All Gargoyles are trained from childhood in the skill of Throwing, giving them a basic competence with missile weapons (minimum gargoyle skill in throwing is 200). · Gargoyles receive a 5% bonus to hit that stacks with HCI and skill bonus. · Gargoyle’s hit chance cap has been increased to 50%. Mystic Insight · Gargoyles have an intuitive understanding of Mysticism, allowing them to cast Mysticism spells without further training. (minimum gargoyle skill in Mysticism is 300). · Gargoyles receive +2 Mana Regeneration which stacks with Meditation and Focus. The problem was now… did she let her own sense of faith in the human race take precedence over the possibility that she may be being, yet again, led into a trap of deception? Would this be fair to the Citizens of the realm, if in fact, her judgment were marred because of her undying devotion in her quest to find Donal? Caryn knew that there was little time to reflect on these questions or the multitude of others that taunted her daily. Time was certainly of the essence here. Donal had been missing for much too long, and as each day passed, his safety was more in doubt. “Taryn ... Taryn,” she suddenly said out loud, and she shook her head rapidly back and forth, as if trying to eliminate the thought from her mind. “Why in times of turmoil, do I instantly think of Taryn?” Without further hesitation, Caryn ordered the guardian Gargoyles to send word to Taryn that she was needed at the library. “Together,” she thought. “We will decide what actions to take… together.” Word soon spread throughout the land that Caryn and Taryn had requested the Citizens of Britannia to congregate at the West Britain Counselor’s Hall on the following Saturday. Once everyone had arrived, and had somewhat settle down from their excitement of the possibility that this may indeed be the night that they rescue Donal, Taryn began explaining the occurrences of the previous day. She told the citizens of how Caryn had been approached by a very old, very scared gentleman, that claimed he had received a note advising him to retrieve certain items and come to an unknown location. The note, he claimed, had even given him instructions on how to gain access to this region. “If I fail to honor their request, they say that they will take my young granddaughter and raise her in their beliefs and I would never see her again.”, the old guy had told her. His only request from Caryn was that she provide him protection for his family and in return he would give her the note containing the instructions. This she immediately agreed to do and had ordered the Gargoyles to retrieve the old man's family and take them to the palace. Given the fact that the items the note had ordered him to retrieve were the same as those Donal was also searching for, the two women had decided that this demand must have come from the Order of Rowan, and ... the old man himself could be part of trap to get them to a certain location. Either way, everyone was sure that Donal was being held somewhere near the area that the note specified, and whether they were being lured into a war of pure sabotage or not, it was of no matter. Their first priority was to find Donal. A gate was soon opened to the first site on the journey, and the fearless warriors of Britannia dutifully went through, more than willing to face death if need be. Once on the other side, Taryn instructed everyone to touch the green tree which stood in the middle of the alter on the small island. This in turn placed a special talisman into each warrior’s pack, which would help grant them access to the next location. This was a copy of the passage tree and no one could progress any farther without it. Once there, Taryn, rereading the note to be sure, lead the army to a large white tree, which she then advised them to speak the word Selago into. Each warrior spoke the words without hesitation and was immediately transported into a scene of pure chaos. It was clear that this was not going to be an easy task to fulfill, but the thought of rescuing Donal kept them steadfast in their pursuit to find him. The battle raged on for hours, claiming the lives of both friend and foe, and the ground was soon littered with bodies of the dead that had been wiped out by the poisonous explosions of the guardians of Selago himself. Miraculously, through the pungent and gruesome sounds of combat, a cry for help was heard coming from southeast of the battlefield. Several warriors wearily ventured to the area to inquire into the situation and to be of assistance. Much to their surprise, they were soon to realized that the pleas were coming from none other than Donal, who was being held captive in a primitive, makeshift cell, well hidden behind the field. Leaving one warrior behind to stay with Donal, the remainder of the group anxiously ran back to the field to alert Caryn and Taryn of their glorious discovery. Upon hearing the news that Donal had been found, several warriors took time out from the fighting and went to the hidden cell to offer comfort and to assure him that he would soon be set free. As the bloody battle continued to progress on the field of the compound, more and more of Selago’s minions were slain. One by one, they fell to their deaths, giving a sense of hope to the combatants that victory was within reach. But just as the last of the foe had meet their demise, Selago suddenly appeared, angry and more than willing to continue the fight. As weary as the warriors seemed, just the sight of him impelled them to charge on with great vengeance and soon he joined his followers in death. Running as fast as possible to the hidden cell, the warriors entered, anxious to release Donal from his incarceration. And, although overwhelmed to see his heroic rescuers, Donal still seemed to be in fear, and begged for them to get him out quickly. Just north of the prison that once held him captive, Donal and Taryn were once again reunited, as the crowd of warriors looked on proudly. Unfortunately, the reunion was bittersweet as Donal explained that when the doors of the cell had exploded upon the death of Selago, he had lost the final ingredient that he had searched so long and so hard to find. Taryn, though disappointed to hear this, set aside comment on his loss and continued the conversation by promptly introducing her new friend, Caryn to Donal. Silence fell upon the entire crowd as Donal replied that he did indeed already know her Sister! Sisters? Taryn and Caryn were sisters? They both stood among the onlookers unable to do anything other than to repeat the word. Realizing that this may have been quite a shock to the young women, Donal quietly asked Taryn to take him home. Forcing herself to regain some sense of composure, Taryn turned to her sister Caryn, and asked her to accompany them on their journey. Attention Archers! BSR March 27; February Results | ||

Best Shot In The Realm, February, 2010 submitted by the M!S BSR Mystery Scribe The second season of Misfits of Society’s Best Shot in the Realm continued with February's event held on a surprisingly pleasant Saturday evening at the Skara Brae Faire Grounds. This free entry archery contest long run by the Society of Archers guild, and now continuing with M!S, is a staple on the shard and brings out Baja’s best archers competing for one million in gold, a uniquely engraved bow, and a spot in the seasons ending Champion of Champions shoot-off reserved for the 12 monthly winners. Toni Fierce, GM and founder of M!S, greeted 24 archers. After a brief explanation of the few rules, (only man-made regular bows or NPC bought bows and no chivalry spells allowed) started to call the archers up in pairs. This round robin tournament consists of progressively higher totals to shoot (with just 3 arrows) to move to the next round. 70 points for the 1st round is usually just a warm up for the talented shooters. Then it moves to 100, 150, and 200; with 200 usually the crowning round. Any dress is allowed and everything from exotic armor to fancy clothing is seen on these evenings. Shooters are also seen who tend to excite the crowd and wear the minimum (take note Wrath). Toni Fierce called the first two shooters to begin the nights contest and Howard Hill and Lady Kathryn, two talented, previous monthly winners, stepped up. Howard set the stage with 200 points, (2 bulls-eyes and a Robin Hood), while Kathryn put 3 arrows all in a tight group in the corner of the butte, scored a 30 and said “oops.” A short stunned silence swept over the crowd until most realized that she could of put those 3 arrows wherever she wanted, but we had a stranger to the shard visit Baja that evening and Kathryn immediately went to converse with our visitor. (Sara's Note: Reportedly, Lady Kathryn paid the M!S BSR Mystery Scribe 454-gold (all the gold she had on her person) ... some say this was a bribe so the Mystery Scribe would not report on Kathryn's poor shooting this evening, some say it was a donation towards the BSR funds. Either way, it was 454-gold well spent, don't you think?) A little bit about our visitor: Unknown at this time Mesanna, the Proverbial Goddess of Death, seems to have untold magical powers and possesses the ability to change the landscape with her will. After the event was over Mesanna moved buttes and changed them to look like various monsters, drawing a crowd wondering just who this mysterious visitor was. (See screenshots at the end of the article.) Later she was seen still talking to Kathryn and Nicholas the Old, another guest to this nights event. Back to round one found not another shooter missing the score, with four shooters matching Howard’s robin hood, and Chango bringing “Ohhs” and “Ahhs” from the assembled shooters with a double robin hood and posting a rare score of 250 The second round began and the night's entry list was closed and all but three of the 23 shooters left showed they were there for the TITLE with Lazarus, Arlon, Geromino, Sanarr and Bumblebee posting 200s. The third round, where only three perfect shots moves you forward, found inclement weather now swirling around the Fairgrounds and a notice of “a fierce storm is approaching,” threw many of the nights contestants a curve, with half the group failing to score 150. Frigin Azin, always a threat to capture the crown wasn’t dismayed by the weather and shot his first 200 after being just perfect thru the first two rounds of the contest. Toni announced the start of the fourth round with her usual graciousness And nine archers called one at a time knew that the title and crown was just three great shots away. Who would win this eve, and who would lock up a place in 2010's Champions shoot-off? FriginAzin, Jack Daniels, Cherokee, Sanarr and Richard Lionheart all had been perfect so far with nary one arrow off the mark, but they were also joined by Lazarus, Wrath (now clothed), Isabella , and Xorne the Buzzed who all were contenders. While Frigin Azin and Cherokee continued their perfect nights with never missing the bulls-eye in 4 rounds, it was Xorne the Buzzed who stepped up and put his name on the TITLE. After a chorus of cheers, woots and hollers, Toni Fierce presented Xorne with his million gold check, his engraved bow and congratulations as being 2010's 2nd monthly winner and invited to the seasons ending Champions Event. Misfits of Society would like to invite all citizens of Baja to come and compete or cheer on their favorite archer at March’s Best Shot in the Realm contest. For that reason, each week we'll be bringing you the banners from a few of these towns. This week we have selected two towns from the Catskills shard, read below for their story! Village of Aegis 15 buildings Written by Aedon Durreah The Village of Aegis has long stood as a place of refuge in the world of Sosaria. A bastion of valor and compassion whose eyes are ever on the safety of the Yew area. Her name itself speaks to the nature of the Village and her people. Protection of the innocent drove the Knights of Yew to found the Village in the Glade they named Aegis back in 1999. A knighthood was forged and took up arms to defeat the “enemy.” Life in the old lands was hard, but the Village and the Knights persevered. With the splitting of the shards, the leaders of the Knighthood decided to seek a safer area for those they protected. Packing up village and villagers, they moved through a gate, and emerged in the mirror image of the Glade on the Trammel facet. With thanks offered by their spiritual leader, the Knights began construction on the first buildings in this new Glade of Aegis. The first building completed, the Knight's Rest Inn and Tavern served as both housing and a place of meeting while the other buildings were being completed. Soon, the Knight's guild hall and many homes and businesses dotted landscape. The City of Olympus, Trammel, Catskills Number of Buildings: 30+ Written by Katherine Elle The City of Olympus is home to the Purple Guardians of Honor (PGoH), whom have guarded and protected the realm since the oldest recorded history. The city lies north of Trinsic, across the bay, and is situated along the tree line west of the Fens of the Dead. The city is comprised and recognizable by matching house signs, banners, and building materials, as well as it’s consistency with buildings necessary for city life, such as a Tavern, Jail, Library, Market Square, Embassy, Mausoleums, Infirmary, and the Temple of the Virtues which was blessed by Sir Owain Surrey. The banner of the Guardians of Honor flies proudly in front of their Castle Olympus, and next to the natural dock created by the land. | ||

Relvinian steadied himself on his crooked staff as he tightened the grasp of his decaying hand on the handle. "I do not suggest we abandon our plans to sway them," he said, his jaw crackling as he spoke, "I have spent too long resting, too long without a spirit, to consent to your agenda so thoughtlessly. I would rather have them under our power than trampled, bloody under our feet." "Then do no consent. You forget, magician, I still hold the fragments." "Yet you still need my help, or you would not have given me rise from the grave. My head is clear, I am not the half-witted, earth-covered lich you recruited to your cause. Daemons answer to me, it is not my duty to answer to them." "And as you are no mere lich, I am no mere daemon," Ix Tab spoke between clenched teeth, "do not forget I can return you to your resting place. Our endeavor is in your best interest, maze-crafter." "It would seem, though deceit is the backbone of the abyss, your intentions still escape me, Ix, though you would speak as if they are as clear as crystal. I will follow close behind, if for my own gain. And you know our deal, suffice to say my summoning can still be perfected, for any cause. But its original intent was to bring ease to human life, do you think I should so hastily distort my work to one of bloodshed?" "Yes," Ix Tab said, as she caressed the crystal fragments adorning her necklace, "I would love nothing more then to hear the thrashing of daemon wings as they crack upon the soft flesh and brittle bones of the humans and elves. I would love nothing more than to see myself placed above law and order, above any witless queen or faceless Guardian, on a throne eclipsing the sky itself!" Ix Tab lowered her gaze onto Relvinian and smiled, showing her fanged teeth. "I know you still battle your insanity, and who do you have to blame that insanity on? Britannians! I would love to see you extract revenge, Relvinian, exiled man of Britannia, on those who say you had no place in the company of true mages, who spat at you as you went about your studies. Revenge! Does that word not ring true in your ears??" Relvinian clutched his tattered sash and tightened it around the decaying flesh of his ribcage. "Such a word I have not heard so clear, such a word has not sounded so just in my mind since madness once took it. I think we may come to a temporary agreement daemon. Uphold your end, and I’ll uphold mine," Relvinian twitched as he spoke, dropping his spellbook to the ground, "our mutual gain, their writhing pain. Now is the time for justice and recompense. Perhaps they should feel the agony of my solitude and decrepitude, ten fold. I agree to help you achieve this cause. To help you summon them." His face contorted into a wicked grin as he shuffled his malformed body toward Ix Tab and raised his eyeless sockets toward her bright red orbs. "The Daemons that we soon do seek, only the Guardian can keep. Some think them a common lot, those who think that, soon will rot." Owain awoke to the smell of decayed flesh and the quiet hum of a daemon’s magic. The floor of Hythloth was cold, and the realization of his vision struck him. He had no time to recount the ill-fated conversation he had foreseen, as a red-eyed daemon struck the air in front of him with its wings, flinging detritus in every direction. Closely behind the daemon was a group of skeletal knights, bones crackling as they raised their swords in his direction. Owain stood up and clenched his fists as he began to utter words of power. The Red & Purple Mini Mall Location : Just North-East of the Yew Cemetery, first clearing in the woods. Atlantic Shard, Trammel, Yew. Contact : See the house board in mall for contact info. Website for Shop: Atlantic Commerce Description : Independent Vendor Mall & Village Owner: Lady Frany Flame Q - Please give me a history on the Red and Purple Mini Mall. A - The R&PMM was originally started in the summer of 2001, on the road from Brit, near the Cove Swamp. This first location was using a friend’s house, do to the high price of housing at that time. Not too long after 9/11, the staff froze housing decay driving prices way out of reach for newer players and it took a little time to save up for the small marble shop that stood west of the desert of compassion for a whopping 6 million gold at that time. It was March of 2002 the mall was moved the first time, and very soon after the R&P was very popular with the shopping public thanks to the various goods offered by several different vendor masters. Packing a lot of bang into a tiny house. We stayed in that location for 13 months, seeing over 32 thousand visitors, and surviving 3 invasions. At that time, the new modern housing system came along and with the new vendor system, we were forced to look at a maximum of 10 vendors where we had over 20 in the small house. Downgrading operations was not an option. It took time to find just the right new house to better serve our community. At the new and current location, we could easily double available vendor space, along with adding space for a full set of public dye tubs, training dummies, a small public rune library, a peaceful garden, and several other minor improvements for public enjoyment. At this time of Luna, it was decided the fate of the R&PMM was to better serve the public and stay in Tram, away from the high prices of Luna where we currently have over 72k visitors and growing, with over 6 years in the same location… the mall will not relocate again. Q - Clearly this mall has stood the test of time. But going back to the beginning, what made you decide to run a vendor mall in Sosaria? A – At the time I started needing vendor space of my own, it was very hard to get space in bigger malls. Most big malls were in full towers or castles, and some of those malls demanded guild membership. Other malls were run by only the owner of the house, selling few goods. I had to make gold in a bad way to support my combat characters. Once I got a foothold in a super mall… it was clear I was meeting far more newer players needing vendor space then anyone could find, so I thought the next logical step was to find some space to open up a mall of my own… with the goal of helping everyone I could, not just myself. Malls can be a lot of work on the owner and we are lucky to find fellow merchants that have a love of running vendors. That’s as true then as it is today, even if it's ha | ||

New Attacks in Luna Luna Bank, Malas March 23, 2010 New assault creatures has descended upon the Luna bank yesterday afternoon and into the late evening. Miasma which can normally be found in Labyrinth Dungeon seemed to be the leading force in the attack. The city of Luna was thought to be safe after the assassination of Lady Jessica during her trial at the Yew High Courts. We are unsure at this time if their are two Jessicas and the one responsible is still at large or if someone else is behind the attacks. Based off of recent messages sent by Ozog of Pitmuck it is a good chance that the Jessica they attempted to capture is still at large. "Ozog has gone off to be alone. He is beside himself that he contributed to the demise of an innocent (Lady Jessica) Who knows when he shall be back?? He is seeking a goblin oracle who has not been seen in centuries." With Luna City so vulnerable to attacks we can only hope that the Royal Guard Volunteer Reserve Unit, can offer protection within the city limits. Many of you humans and elves have traveled to my lands to seek out new and exotic riches, treasures, and materials. You come to slay strange monsters and face great new dangers. But we Gargl (or Gargoyles, if your tongue prefers) offer something even greater: knowledge and enlightenment. The Royal Library of Ter Mur will be opening soon, located south-east (straight down) from the Ter Mur moongate. The books are being cataloged and organized as hundreds of new tomes pour in each week. Before the first set of books are put on display, I would like to invite everyone from both your lands and mine to a writing contest. I have thought long and hard about what topic would be appropriate for this contest, as I wanted it to relate to the first theme the Library will be showing. And then while pouring through some of my ancient tomes, the solution showed itself. This month marks the 10th anniversary of the grand battle of Trinsic, where soldiers, knights, and mages from all corners of Britannia came together to face the terrible forces of Juo'nar, and other sinister elements utilized by Minax. So the first theme the library will be showing will be History, with a focus on the Trinsic battles. The writing contest is thus: You are invited to use your own experience, if you were around at that time, to write a journal regarding your actions and thoughts during the troubling times surrounding the battle of Trinsic. This can be a memoir, if preferred, or an academic-type text (like a history book). Alternatively, especially for those of you who were not around at that point in time, or if you wish to write on something else, you may choose any point in history and write about it. (This can be a character journal, or a historical text, or an exposition on a guild or organization, anything regarding Atlantic's rich history (characters, players, guilds, named beasts, locations, events, etc), old or new, use your creativity and imagination!) Rules of the contest: -Use vendor-bought blue books, the ones with 40 pages. Multiple volumes (stories exceeding 40 pages requiring more than one book) will count as one entry. -At the end of your entry, put your name and contact information (email, ICQ, AIM, etc) -You may enter multiple times, but remember this: it is quality which will win, not quantity. A well thought-out and written piece will have a better chance than 10 sloppily written pieces. -By submitting an entry you are allowing me to put it on display in the Royal Library of Ter Mur. I also reserve the right to not display it. -When you have written your submission, put it in the mailbox located at the front of the library (again, straight down from the Ter Mur moongate, about one screen or so). -The winning entry will be decided upon by three people. Although two of them are wingless, they have proven to be intelligent enough for me to put my trust in them. -Entries will be accepted until Saturday, April 10th, in order to give everyone enough time to enter if they wish to do so. Judging will begin shortly after that and the winners will be contacted. REWARDS: -The first-place winner will recieve 1,000,000 gold plus a Heritage Token. -The second-place winner will receive 500,000 gold and a Heritage Token. -The third-place winner will receive 250,000 gold. Her allies seemed to come and go and none of them stayed around for long, which was unsurprising as she had a tendency to turn on them as soon as she got bored. But things were beginning to look up and Mizara now had found a willing and very capable ally who certainly knew her rituals - obviously in return for somethign as yes to be discussed. The resurrection ritual had gone well and the only downside was that Mericles was not fully empowered. This was not entirely unexpected as his soul had been split asunder, his body moved all over and the general length of time between his "death" and the attempted rebirth. But the power of a true necromancer is not to be overlooked. Mizara herself dabbled in the black arts and the arcane but in this ritual she could only stand and watch, fascinated. But overall the day had gone well and the people of Trinsic and the great influx of the visiting army from across the lands had filled the city to bursting point. Mizara purred to herself imagining the pride The Duke had taken in the stout defence of his city and how the people had been completely hood-winked by such a simple slight of hand. Now she would discuss next steps with her allies and try and call them all together and see what they could do to grant Mericles the power he deserved. Ultimately Mericles was the most prized piece on the chessboard and Mizara Khan wanted to be able to wield that power with absolute authority. She knew her allies would demand some of that power for themselves and it was certainly something she was willing to surrender to them in the short term. Mizara Khan looked down at the small piece of blackrock in her hand and smiled and popped it into a pocket in the folds of her long luxurious cloak. She clicked her heels and disappeared into the ground travelling at enormous speed as she made her way up and into the light, blinking a little at its brightness. By: Tancred Redstar Noted Absent: Colt Kijustsu Anei Keys Templar Nidaros Pitmuck < First order of business was a rejoined call, from the previous meeting, for community teleporter petitions. The following townships petitioned for a teleporter: Moria, by Manshoon Cimmerian Pass, by Nyx Al Ellisande, by Gowron Dukaat Silvervale, by Naitch Lydia then appeared and took seat for Pitmuck. Lady Zodok made an aside as to the question of Moria, given it's recent transitional status with regards to it's governance and political situation, and required that a new treaty of recognition be petitioned of the Crown afresh. Lady Zodok consigned Manshoon to deliver this message and it's requirements to whatever new governance is now in place in Moria. At this, Manshoon got lippy about it, stating how he is no one's errand boy. This raised an eyebrow or two with Lady Zodok who reiterated in a somewhat sterner tone that a new treaty of recognition would need to be approved prior to any teleporter construction decision, but also quietly added that any aggression would be dealt with "appropriately". A recess for 10 minutes was then called by Lady Zodok at 8:47. Prowler appears and takes seat for Templar. The recess adjourned at 8:57 and conduction of business resumes. Van Helsing appears and takes seat for Colt. The business of teleporter petitions resumes, first with Silvervale. Grace O'Malley appears and takes seat for Kijustsu Anei Keys. The vote on the petition for a teleporter for Silvervale is called for and subsequently affirmed unanimously. The vote on the petition for a teleporter for Cimmerian Pass is called for and subsequently affirmed unanimously. The vote on the petition for a teleporter for Al Ellisande is called for and subsequently affirmed unanimously. Lady Zodok then calls for other official business. Tancred RedStar of Gyldenfeld requested the sea zone restriction imposed by the Crown a month ago after the appearance of a dangerous whirlpool west of Jhelom be lifted, citing no more ships have been lost. Lady Zodok mentioned she will speak further on the matter with Commander Foxx but approves the lifting of the restriction, re-opening the waters south of Skara Brae and west of Jhelom to maritime trade and ship traffic. Miss Watson of Kijustsu Anei requested Kijustsu Anei, Kijustsu Anei Keys and Moria be moved and recognized together. Lady Zodok reponded the matter will be considered after the new treaty of recognition with Moria is received and reviewed. Winfield of PaxLair said PaxLair City is having problems transporting goods to PaxOku via sea. They have to had beach their ships and move goods by land, which is dangerous as PaxLair City is in Felucca. Various comments then flooded the table, including a request for a sort of SeaGate(similar in function to a moongate or the Serpent Pillars). Winfield added that a search for information regarding such magics or construction has been ongoing and continues through volumes of old books. Lady Zodok said she would bring this matter to the attention of Queen Dawn for consideration of feasibilty, if it were even possible. Grace O'Malley of Kijustsu Anei Keys was recognized and read a prepared statement from the Acting Portreeve of Kijustsu Anei Keys: "I, Odin Doomhammer, have reviewed my predecessor's files and have determined that a misjudgement was made when deciding to be loyal to the Crown. I hereby decree that the Kijustsu Anei Keys loyalty be recorded for the records and changed from loyal to the Crown to neutral." Lady Zodok responded, saying this will jeopardize the consideration of rendering aid from the Crown in times of need. She quietly added "tread carefully in the guise of neutrality, fFor bearing false witness to such will not be dealt with kindly" Tatania Karthina of PaxOku said she heard a rumor in Zento that the Empress of the Tokuno Islands might be touring her lands therein. Lady Zodok thanked Lady Karthina for the news and made note of it. Tancred RedStar of Gyldenfeld proposed cattle drive into the capital for the purpose of presenting the monarch, or her designee, a choice from among the herd of the finest cattle to stock the Royal Larder. Lady Zodok approved of the idea and correspondence would be forthcoming to arrange the details. Winfield of PaxLair City followed up, requesting any such cattle drive plan to include clean up efforts behind the cattle of what comes from the behind of cattle. Tancred RedStar of Gyldenfeld quickly remarked that's what orcs are for. Lady Zodok, to address the issue, said the Ministry of Sanitation will be notified with regards to clean up efforts. Lady Zodok then moved to close the meeting, pronouncing the next township assembly/summit meeting will be on March 31. Future meeting dates shall be April 7 and April 21 for the month of April 2010. There will be no meeting May 5th, 2010. Lady Zodok then adjourned the meeting. | ||

Mizara Khan appeared suddenly on a rooftop outside the Trinsic Jail, she brought the Duke of Trinsic and his son Isidore up and began to speak. Quote:
Suddenly Coils and poisonous snakes appeared! The battle raged outwards into the forest. Inside the city Manifestations of Arysouns started appearing alongside the poisonous serpents. Throughout the city undead creatures, snakes and Manifestations of Arysoun continued appearing and causing havoc amongst the army that had came to protect Trinsic. A huge winged creature began helping us with the battle, it then yelled for us to follow as it ran towards the Trinsic Jail. The flapping beast hovered above the crowd outside the Jail and began to yell at us: Quote:
In the room Mizara Khan was with a lady performing spells on Mericles corpse! Quote:
A spirit slowly appeared from the corpse and began circling the room. Mizara Khan then began to speak to the crowd that had gathered around the alter. Quote:
Undead and more Manifestations of Arysoun began to fill the room. Once the creatures had been slain Mizara appeared once more at the Alter, The Duke of Trinsic asked her to explain what was going on. Quote:
With that Mizara Khan had disapeared once more, People in the chamber began to set fire to Mericles corpse, again, This time however the corpse burnt into a pile of ashes and were collected up. This wrapped up tonights event. | ||||||
