Changes and New Things in and Around the Rewards Hall
Posted on Thursday, April 30, 2009, 2:46 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
EM Cernunnos has been extremely busy the last few days and has made a few changes involving the Reward Hall. Here a few things that he has done or has requested done. Some of you may have noticed the energy vortex outside of the EM Hall that took you to the Rewards Hall is now colored black and filled with sparkles. It also no longer is titled “3”, but now is identified as “A Vortex Leading To The Reward Hall”. Meaning it will be less confusing for those unsuspecting people that come upon it and have not read about here on Stratics. At the Reward Hall on display on the first floor is “A Mysterious Bog Creature – Grown From A Seed Found By Buck On March 19th, 2009” Congratulations go out to Buck for growing such an interesting creature/plant. On the East side of the Rewards Hall there are now steps placed that lead out to an fire pit surrounded by logs. If you can highlight the fire and see what it says, also single click the fire for a surprise and then for the biggest surprise step into the fire. This reporter promises it will not disappoint you.

New West Britain Bank Renovation Completed by Draconi
Posted on Thursday, April 30, 2009, 2:15 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Yesterday Draconi visited the Catskills shard to redecorate the First Bank of Britain on the west side of Britain, Trammel side. He converted the drab old bank into the winning design by Sweety making it a much nicer and useful bank for everyone. Some of the improvements are stairs to the roof area, a forge and anvil on the roof, Flowers and decorations around the area, a small picnic area, and seating for those who just wish to enjoy the much nicer bank. The bank is now a great starting point for hunting parties because there is a working moongate, Hitching Post for claiming and storing your pets, an Arcane circle for Spell weavers, an Ankh for Paladins to tithe at ( You may be able to ress there too, though this has not been tested yet by anyone this reporter knows.) an forge for armor repairs, and of course you can access your bank box there too as always. I just wanted to thank Sweety for a well thought out design and Draconi for building it for Catskills.

“Meet and Greet” with EM Cernunnos Rousing Success
Posted on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, 10:29 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Saturday afternoon and Monday night EM Cernunnos took the time to get to know the residents of the Catskills shard a bit better. He invited everyone to come meet him and ask any questions that they might have, along with handing out sashes of greeting to anyone who desired one. He was given special permission to give out these sashes due to him being assigned to the Catskills shard after most of the other EMs were in place on their respective shards, and they had already given out their Sashes of greetings. Originally EM Cernunnos was only suppose to have his meet and Greet on Saturday afternoon, but due to the low turnout a second “Meet and Greet” was arranged at a hour when more players could attend. The second one also had EM Kasaven join him to joke with the much larger crowd and also hand out a few sashes of his own. At first the two EMs were surrounded by people desiring their sashes, but soon a organized line was made and EM Cernunnos tirelessly handed out sahes to every single person that wanted one. In a huge surprise even Mesanna (UO Associate Development Manager in charge of the EM program) made an appearance to place a new Animal Trainer at the front of the hall so there would not be so many pets lagging the area. The EM Hall has also gained a new tavernkeeper to keep the thirsty pirate well supplied. Tuesdays night the Knight's Rest Tavern and Shadowmoor Community Center hosted a Bard's Night in Skara Brae, at the Shattered Skull Tavern, and EM Cernunnos joined in to listen to the tales about “Life in the City”. On a side note EM Cernunnos placed a new lantern letting those players who are doing the “Botanical Research Event” that he will be collecting the books from 8 p.m. EST till midnight on April 30th. Meaning you just have most of today to complete your book and turn it in to him.

Sunday Night Scuffle! | ||
Posted on Monday, April 27, 2009, 10:06 PM EDT by Morpheus Mardox (Chesapeake)
It had been a few weeks since my last trip to the lands of Felucca to bear witness to the chaos that is the battle for braggin rights and spawn supremacy. Much has changed since my last visit. The lands long held by the Reign of Tyranny and the grip of its leader Lacrimor Cruor have gave way to new groups made of some familiar faces and new alliegances. The Reign of Tyranny disbanding thier forces sent the pvp community into a frenzy to realign and bolster current forces and create new guilds to dominate the depths of Depsise and the Yew gate. Arising from the ashes of the goliath that was RoT is the newly formed The Fallen Legacy ( Uh Oh) crew led by Turles. Aligned with the True Britannians, the group has grown exponentially in the past weeks to rival it's predecessor. Thier impact is already being felt across the facet. Recieving intelligence of an ensuing battle in the dwelling of the Baccaroon, I made the journey to Serpents Hold and readied myself for the certain death the was in my near future. A challenge had been issued from those among ThE WoWzaSArOuSeS to the warriors of The Fallen Legacy to battle to the death. I arrived to see The Fallen Legacy already stalking the corridors. Holding the island and spawn well in hand the Baccaroon soon made his entrance at almost the same time as the Shadowlords of WoWz. Heavily outnumbered the Shadowlords assaulted the eastern front amidst a fury of fields as the battle had commenced. With mages in tow the True Britannians set to defending the island using old magic to cut off the raiding Shadowlords. In a wave of evil the True Brits suffered opening losses while holding the raiders in check. The action was hot and heavy for what seemed like hours as no ground was gathered by either party. While focusing on the enemy ahead the WoWz clan found themselves in a pickle! The mere force of six had been flanked by random faction warriors and defenders who no doubt received the same intel I had. The Council of Mages PRO! guild warriors along with a lone member from the once thought extinct Deus Ex Machina had trapped the WoWz along the east perimeter. Unable to fully abandon thier assualt on the bridge the WoWz in vain attempted to run down the flanking groups. Realizing the moment at hand the Fallen Legacy took advantage of the Shadowlords situation. Pushing outward from both island exits the True Britannians rid the area of the Shadowlord forces in convincing fashion. After reassembling thier forces thier attention turned back to the Baccaroon. Soon after meeting his demise the spoils of victory were gathered as the group headed to safer grounds victorious in the nights deciding battle. A grand sight it was to see the forces of evil dispatched in a combined effort by the virtuous factions of the realm. I look forward to the next invite. Until next time my friends.....

Libraries of Chesapeake
Posted on Sunday, April 26, 2009, 11:02 PM EDT by Sebrina (Chesapeake)
Years ago, several scribes and librarians began talks among themselves concerning their library collections. Although, most of these had made their runes and books open to the public, few had known of each other previously. Resourcing information, which might not be in their particular libraries, was a major concern. Many people had asked for gates or runes to specific locations, which could not be found in certain libraries. After some deliberation, a concencus was born to seek out other libraries and come to a solution for the benefit of the public. These scribes took on a search, to find other establishments with most any knowledge or location rune of import. Out of a sence of confussion, at first, an association of libraries was born on the Chesapeake shard, so that information could be shared and locations could be accessed readily. This group of libraries has come to be known as the "Greater Library Association of Chesapeake," GLAC. Are you looking for specific historical information? Do you need a rune to the deepest depths of a dungeon? Perhaps you want to know mining spots, or treasure hunting locations. Though no singular library is complete in all aspects, your questions and rune needs are most likely found throughout this library network. There are currently 27 listings of libraries in the GLAC runebooks and it is expected that more will be listed in the future. With such a large collection of establishment photos, it is necessary to use (thumbnails,) which you may click on for larger images. Included, are also maps for the general territories and explanations of the locations with brief descriptions to aid in your adventures. All Libraries listed are open to the public! Library Index Note: Libraries are listed here under their respective facets, then alphabetically regarding their house signs, disregarding "The" in establishment names. You may click on them to go directly to their description and pictures. "Back" buttons are provided at each listing to return to the Index. There ,are two views for each establishment, one for the exterior, and the other for the main library floor. Some have additional floors not shown. Thumbnails are reduced to moderate sizes, and images are 75% of actual screen size. Trammel

Honoring Lord Clainin, The Royal Thaumaturgist of Britannia
Posted on Sunday, April 26, 2009, 10:10 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja)
By WarderDragon Good evening, my adorable fans and readers. You've no doubt heard that our beloved Clainin, Renowned Scholar and Thaumaturgist to the Crown, has been laid to rest amongst the orchards and gardens of Castle Britannia. His final resting place, shaded by the same apple trees that the wizard once spent hours studying beneath during the warm summer months, is now adorned with a carved likeness of the man resting upon a tall marble plinth. The modest display is surrounded by newly planted snowdrops, as well as tokens left by mourners and friends. The memorial ceremony was held Friday evening, and was attended by a handful of Britannians. The memorial was hosted by Lord Emissary Saius, who gave what I've been told was a rousing speech that both honored the great wizards memory, and promised that the crimes against him would not soon be forgotten by the brave souls of our fair Kingdom. Although tensions remain between Britannia and the Free Kingdoms of Sosaria, dignitaries from both the Kingdom of Dawn and the City of Luna came to pay their respects to a man who was respected by all. Interestingly, we've recieved yet another mysterious submission left at our doorstep. Clearly, the missive was not intended for the Herald, but we shall reproduce it here nonetheless. If anyone knows this Kellindil vi Valdesin, please contact our offices promptly. It seems the Game of Houses is being played again. Joshua Harper, Britannia Stratics Herald. My Lord,

Second Chance to meet EM Cernunnos tonight Sunday April 26th
Posted on Saturday, April 25, 2009, 11:13 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Players who missed their chance to attend the meet and greet for EM Cernunnos yesterday will have a second chance today. He will be at the Councilors (EM) Hall today, Sunday the 26th of April, at 8 p.m. EST for those of you who wish to get to know him and ask him some questions. He may even be handing out special sashes of greetings from himself for those who drop in to meet him. So if you want to chat to the man behind the beautiful new Rewards Hall come tonight and get to know him. On a side note Lucretia Genovese has placed a new book in the EM hall that is shown below. For those of you who are wondering who Lucretia is here is her back story (Lucretia is the RP Character EM Cernunnos uses for events.). The steward paused a moment at the door of the old cabin, doubting that such a homely place could actually be the residence of his lord’s daughter. Cracks in the crude wood walls of the structure emanated light into the evening outside, giving him hope that perhaps at least some peasant residing here might be able to direct him on to the address he sought. The steward took a sharp breath, then knocked boldly upon the door. “What is it?” The response was immediate, a female voice tinged with annoyance or distraction, he couldn’t tell. The unlocked door creaked open slightly, and the steward peered inside. A woman was seated with her back to him, writing furiously at a desk cluttered with papers and tiny bottles. The walls of the cabin were covered with dried plants, sketches of animals, and shelves of jars stuffed with all manners of plants and animals. “Yes?” She asked dismissively “Go on, I am quite busy”. “Lady Lucretia?” he began, waiting for some response from the woman, who only continued to write. “M’lady, I.. have an urgent message from your father”. He called through the cracked door. The woman leapt to her feet, toppling a number of the vials on the desk. One vial of green liquid hit the floor and rolled to the steward’s feet. He glanced down, reading its label: Sample of Swamp Mist. For a moment, he pondered why anyone would want such a thing. She interrupted his thoughts, her voice raised in anger: “My father..” she began, then turned to face the steward, “I suppose he’s sent you here to bring me back to his castle?” He nodded dumbly, the intense gaze of the noblewoman piercing his resolve. She was both beautiful and stern, her long copper hair tied back tightly in a ponytail, staring at him with steel gray eyes. He swallowed, then stepped inside the cabin. “Lady Lucretia, he sent you this message...” he offered a folded letter to her, sealed with red wax. She snatched it from his hand and tore it open.
Lucretia crumpled the letter in one hand, turning to the steward. “Give my father thanks for his donation to my research, and tell him that if he wished to save himself embarrassment, he may tell others that I am dead!” The steward stammered, gesturing meekly in protest “M’lady Lucretia, that is quite..” “That is quite all!” she finished for him, hastily pushing a pouch of coins into his hands. “For you sir, for your troubles.” She pushed him out the door, adding “Much work to do; do take care sir.” With that the door was slammed behind him.

Mysterious Stranger | ||
Posted on Saturday, April 25, 2009, 10:42 PM EDT by Lyconis (Pacific)
Appearance of the Mysterious Stranger Out of the shadows the Mysterious Stranger appeared. The stranger summoned us to warn us of "great danger arising". Agents of darkness were gathering and recruiting members for their army. Plans were being passed throughout the agents with some type of Code! The Mysterious Stranger was able to retrieve one of the books and showed those who assembled to protect the land of Sosaria what he had found. He told us that two types of "Agents of Corruption" have been crawling in the depths of the anti-virtue dungeons. Warning us of a mass gathering of the agents in the dungeon of Wrong and we will most likely require a large fighting force. We were then ordered to kill the Agents of Corruption and bring the coded books back to the Mysterious Stranger. Agent of Corruption We scoured the depths of the dungeons and came across the two types of agents. One appeared to be a "Shadow Wyrm" and the other a "Valorite Elemental". Each dungeon had at least one of each of the two types of agents. All of the dungeons, aside wrong, had agents dwelling at the bottom depths of the dungeons. The forces that assembled at the Counselor's Guild quickly destroyed these "Agents of Corruption". Giving the Stranger the coded books Books appeared on each of the corpses. Every book had a unique code in it. The Mysterious Stranger asked the brave warriors to hand him the books we found on the deceased agents. All individuals who handed him books were thanked. The Mysterious Stranger wanted the books so he could decrypt the secret codes they held. Decrypting these books may be our best bet in foiling the plans of these evil beings. A Warning Before the stranger left he warned us that more of these "Agents of Corruption" may appear in the near future It is still unknown who these agents are working for, whether it be the Crimson Dragons, Shadowlords, Melissa or some secret plan the new ruler Casca has in store for Sosaria. A better question might be who is this Mysterious Stranger and who does he work for? Perhaps the secret to the plans of evil may be the burden Sherry the Mouse carries.

New Base Established for Volunteer Royal Guard
Posted on Thursday, April 23, 2009, 7:13 PM EDT by Martyna Zmuir (GreatLakes)
Tomas Savos, Captain of the Royal Guard, recently revealed the location of a new base of operations and training which was commissioned for the Volunteer Royal Guard. The base is presently under construction in the mountains southwest of the city of Yew. (13o 17'N 67o 13'W) The Dungeon of Shame and the Blighted Grove lie to the south. Captain Savos said, "The Lords and Ladies of the cities we were prospectively considering, Trinsic, Serpent's Hold, and Vesper, did not wish to contend with a new training facility. This mountainous location provides us with a large defensible area." Currently, only a few palisades have been built in the narrow canyon which bisects the northern tip of the mountain range. Large boulders have been placed around the edges of the ravine to protect the area from landslides. A spacious cave has been included as part of the base, and will no doubt be a rich source of metal for the all-volunteer force. Upon learning of the base, Chancellor DaKaren of the High Council of Britannia commented, "The High Council is pleased to learn that the Royal Guard has built a new base so close to the Council seat in Compassion Grove. This will make it very convenient for the Britannian Armed Forces to lend their aid." The base is expected to continue to develop over the coming weeks, and its official opening will be announced by Captain Savos. Martyna Z'muir, Library of Sosaria

Reward Hall for Legends
Posted on Thursday, April 23, 2009, 9:21 AM EDT by DevilsOwn (LegendsAOL)
EM Tashik has built a lovely Rewards Hall for Legends in the wilds of Malas. To get there on foot take the southern An easier way to get there is to step into the Death Vortex just outside the Counselor's Hall near the entrance to Blackthorn's Castle, and you will be instantly transported to the Rewards Hall. Sextant coordinates are 29o17'N, 47o 27'W (your reporter had some small difficulty with a lizardman... she countered his attack with a sewing kit and an ornate axe) The Rewards Hall is well constructed with ample room for both wall plaques and statues. There is, however, a noticeable lack of flora which will, hopefully, be remedied soon. Or, perhaps there is a plan for Award Floral Arrangements, in addition to Award Plaques and Award Statues? There is even a large pond.... maybe some Award Sailing Vessels for a naval event? I look forward to reporting the many events that will fill this hall with names of Legends!

The new EM Event Reward Museum on Drachenfels is located in Malas, on the Crumbling Mountain part (the land between Luna and Umbra) and the central west-most Island of it. You can find a rune in front of the Councelor's Guild hall in Britain (Trammel). The museum already contains the first event rewards from the past events, honoring winning players or teams. There also is a wooden box on the entrance stairs where you can drop your ingame books with your own stories. They will be placed in the library which will be built in the coming days and weeks. The newest addition to EM events is an "EM Event Announcer", a newly invented Towncrier. The only one (until today) is located near the Luna Bank/Shops, right at the entrance to the building. A book right beside her feet tell bypassers how you deal with her. Simply say news to Brittany (that's her name) as your accustomed to like all other Towncriers. She will tell you news if she has any, otherwise she asks to visit her soon again. TOUCHDOWN!
Posted on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, 6:46 AM EDT by Shiel (Oceania)
AND THE CROWD GOES WILD! Introducing the very first bagball game of the season, led by our very own Ellis and Viktor! Looking very handsome I might add in their Bagball Adjudicator robes. Four teams competed for the honour of having their names placed upon the first shield of the tourney. Lets hear the cheers and the tinny music playing as they are introduced! The first team ready to play and champing at the bit for the opportunity to prove themselves to the fickle crowd were dressed in silver and are (from the top): Snakes Fury, Lady point and click and baked beans! Next up, sporting a rather nice shade of purple we have Samuel, Phoenix Sebratis and Held! Looking very vibrant dressed in a brilliant shade of green, give it up for Phoebe Halliwell, BBurnyeWest and Ascot D'Scar from the Pirates of Cove! Last but not least, we have the red robes belonging to Heronimus, Peter and LocKPicKer! *Listens to the crowd cheering wildly* Field umpire, Ellis called the first two teams to the centre and spoke with them briefly before the ball was bounced (the details of which I was not privy to as he could not be heard over the crowd. The silver team as you can see were very keen on adding bloodshed to the game.. perhaps Ellis might need to consider a Bagball Death Match in Felucca in the future? The game was held in two halves each lasting five minutes. The highest scoring team from each of the first rounds would play off in the final! Unfortunately for the audience, while fast paced.. the first game was rather one sided with the silver team coming in victorious at 5 points to nil. The second round was red versus green in a very festive looking affair. The teams formed up around the square and they were quickly underway! Again the match was very one sided.. as Viktor announced.. "0-7 Red. That concludes the match!" The crowd waited anxiously as the teams were changed so the Red and Silver robed players faced each other in the final. Again, it seemed all stitched up from the minute the first bagball was dropped. The Silver robed team dominated the event, scoring a massive ten points with the Red team unable to overcome their brutal offensive strategy. Fun had by all at this first tourney, and we will look forward to the future shields appearing by the first. This is Shiel, your roving Sports Reporter, signing off.

An Introduction From WarderDragon
Posted on Monday, April 20, 2009, 7:41 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja)
Greetings, my friends and adoring fans. *Smiles, offering a deep bow* I've come to introduce myself to the Baja Community. I am WarderDragon, one of the two latest additions to the Baja Shard Team. Ceno and I are currently being fitted into our masseuse uniforms, and will be getting back to you shortly. Some of you know me as Nicholas the Old, while others doubtlessly know me by other aliases and pseudonyms. I hope to get to know more of you in the coming months as I help Sara, Oriana, and Ceno cover the comings and goings of our shard. A little about myself for your reading pleasure (and my own vain narcissism). I first logged into Ultima Online in June 2001, right in the midst of the Cove Orc & Savage Invasion. I had named my first character Legolas, and in an ironic twist, the first person to befriend me was named Gandalf the Grey. He introduced me to the Village of Ravenshire, a small player-run community north of Vesper, and it is from there that I became involved in the roleplaying community. Over the years, I've been part of many of our shard’s major roleplaying guilds, including but not limited to the Kingdom of Dawn, the Kingdom of Lumaria, the Circle of the White Raven, the Dark Tower, the Baja Roleplaying Community, and the short-lived Kingdom of Valderia. I enjoy candlelit dinners at the Dragons Breath Tavern in Dawn, long walks along the Lumarian coast, and I am absolutely full of myself. Just ask WildStar. I was brought on the team to help cover our shards re-emerging roleplay community, as well as the themed and in-character comings and goings or our shards EM Crew. I have several projects in the coming months, including interviewing important community figures on our shard and updating the Baja Establishment Listing and HTML. So with that said, I am looking for establishments, community centers, and museums that you think should be included in the updated Baja Establishment Listing. I am also looking for suggestions for important community figures and leaders whom you think Baja Stratics should interview. We also welcome contributions. You make the news, we're simply the grunts who stick the HTML between the lines and format the pictures. If you have a piece of news that you have the screenshots for, and you want to type up a quick summary and send it our way ([email protected]), we certainly won't complain. *Grins* Thank you, people of Baja! The Gathering of the Festival of the Grapes
Posted on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 8:57 PM EDT by AirmidCecht (LakeSuperior)
As word circulated that EM’s Quantum and Autolycus wanted to recognize the Festival of the Grapes on April 15, the town of Yew was in need of preparation at Ye Old Winery next to the Empath Abbey. When I arrived it was with great pleasure to see the Winery updated with new and exciting things to see. Tables were set out with a variety of wines for tasting and even some special cheeses to enhance the palette. Q&A did a great job with the help of Stupid Miner and Crysta setting things up for the gathering. Even Nathan Carter the Legendary Tracker had a seat by the fire with a rabbit on a spit and I’m sure was eager to share his stories as well. Many showed to socialize and recognize the history of Sosaria with conversation and a little bit of gaming. I hosted a Let’s Make a Deal with contestants Baldy, Taresis, John Cambridge, Luna, Cassandra and Daamen all walking away with prizes. It was a very relaxing evening and a chance to simply enjoy the company. It is with much appreciation that the citizens of Lake Superior had an opportunity to be enlightened by some history due to the efforts our EM’s. We hope this becomes a yearly event!

Royal Guard Conference Conclusion
Posted on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 4:55 PM EDT by Katlene ((none))
http://www.pagebreeze.com)"> [News] Royal Guard Conference ConclusionHail and well met!The Royal Guard Conference kicked off without a hitch today but before the nice event there was of course a little fun to be had! People started to arrive early and one of them was Baja's very own reporter Oriana! Who was greeted by The cabal of daggers, The Sphinx! Who of course was oogling over Ori's ears! But Ori shot back!
And just above that we had Fern passing out candals in rememberance of the Royal Guard Kemer, who passed away just a few weeks ago.
And so just as some of us were having fun and me finding things people had...er..."dropped"...*looks around innocently* Lady Aino finally appeared!
Aino Nystad: Greetings! Aino Nystad: I welcome you, I welcome you, Aino Nystad: friends and allies to the Royal Guard Conference Aino Nystad: Last I witnessed some of the smiles in here, was before I became Captain of the royal guard Katrina D'antres: *frowns a bit* Aino Nystad: That perhaps I have abandoned my old friends. Surely, few of you may have wondered... Aino Nystad: If that may be the case, Oriana: where have you been Lady Aino Nystad: Let me offer my sincere apologies! Aino Nystad: *smiles at Oriana* Oriana: *smiles* Aino Nystad: In my defense, I will only state that, a Captain is not made merely by a king's appointment. Aino Nystad: Whilst, I have been occupied learning the art of bureaucracy, Alas, I have ignored to mantain old friendships
Oriana: *makes sour face* Aino Nystad: *looks into Oriana's eyes and apologizes* Oriana: Oh no m'lady. that was about bueocracy Aino Nystad: *nods* Aino Nystad: *stands upright* Aino Nystad: Enough wallowing in regrets..I wish to say a few words regarding the reason for this gathering...The reason for this conference... Aino Nystad: *catches a whiff of sake* Xel The Wanderer: *laughs* Aino Nystad: The invasion, blessedly, has been repelled...Yet the threat of the Shadowlords still looms large! Shae: Blasted Shadowlords! Aino Nystad: Whilst, both comrades and superiors relish the fruits of victory...they ignore this threat! Aino Nystad: However, I have taken stock of our situation! and this is what I have discovered... Aino Nystad: *counts with her fingers* Aino Nystad: One...Heavy losses to our standing army Aino Nystad: Two...City based defenses almost wiped out Aino Nystad: Three...Shortage of armor and arms Aino Nystad: Four...Lack of healers and medical supplies Aino Nystad: *frowns* Eeyore: doesnt sound good Aino Nystad: My friends, we are still clearly lost in the woods... Aino Nystad: *shakes her head* Aino Nystad: No, it does not. The challenges faced by us are great. They cannot be met overnight...We must start somewhere Aino Nystad: *nods* Aino Nystad: This brings me to the purpose of today's conference.. The Sphinx: She forgot five! Lack of espionage Shae: *nods* Aino Nystad: More than anything, the greatest need of the day is to recruit more guards! Whilst, a new recruit cannot be expected Leonidas: *puffs out chest* Aino Nystad: to replace a battle hardened soldier...They can step into a more modest role of a city guard! Before you make the mistake of sneering at this role...Realize this! A new city guard today is a brave soldier of tomorrow...With this, I would like to announce that the Royal Guards are actively looking for new recruits, each of whom will start their journey as guards of Britain. Aino Nystad: The garrison at West Britain bank shall be manned first..followed by the one outside of Lord British's castle! Slowly but surely, we shall rebuild! In the rest of the conference...and surely, in the coming days...I hope to pen out the details on recruitment policy and other details Aino Nystad: But...before we move any further...I have another piece of disheartening news..As some of you may well know already... Aino Nystad: *sighs* Aino Nystad: Guard Kemer is believed to have passed on Fern Goodfellow: *sniff* Sara: *nods* Pandora: *cries* Fern Goodfellow: *holds Pandora's hand* Pandora: *holds Ferns hand* Aino Nystad: I would like to have a moment of silence to honor his deeds <everyone bows their head> Fern Goodfellow: *sniff* Pandora: *sniffles* Aino Nystad: *raises her head* Aino Nystad: Thank you Sara: *wipes tear from eye* Fern Goodfellow: Lady Mystad, if you would I would like to say a few words. Aino Nystad: *nods* Aino Nystad: Indeed Fern Goodfellow: *composes self* *looks fabulous in grief* Fern Goodfellow: I have spoken with Kemer's mother. She is very, very ill. And cannot attend. And so it falls on me to say a few words. Fern Goodfellow: *wipes tear* Aino Nystad: *makes a note to see to her well-being* Fern Goodfellow: Kemer was many things. He was loyal. He was, oh so handsome! He was a cookie afficiando! He was a good elf. But if nothing else, Kemer brought a smile to so many of our faces. And if that is his legacy, then what a fine legacy to leave behind. Thank you Fern Goodfellow: *breaks down* Aino Nystad: *pats* Aino Nystad: Thank you for your kind words Aino Nystad: Next, I would like to honor another man. One who has led by example. he is a showcase of what the Royal Guards look in a new recruit Aino Nystad: *looks sideways* Fern Goodfellow: Her hair *sniff sniff* is so much worse up close Aino Nystad: *smiles at Brackus* <everyone cheers for Brackus> Pandora: did it smell? Fern Goodfellow: She seriously needs a skin regiment. Pandora: she needs our help. Aino Nystad: Brackus through his deeds has earned the praise of Lord Casca himself. Aino Nystad: and a pooch named Bartalbe Xel The Wanderer: Bartalbe Bob the Second. Aino Nystad: Bartalbe Bob the Second? Xel The Wanderer: The first bob is the statue. On the top of West Brit Bank Aino Nystad: *shakes her head* Aino Nystad: *sniffs the smell of sake again* Xel The Wanderer: Hey! Sara: *slips Xel's Sake pitcher out of his hand* Aino Nystad: Brackus...If you may come to the stage Calyndrell: *salutes Brackus as he comes up on stage* <everyone claps> Fern Goodfellow: *claps for Magdalena as well* Shae: *Shae eyes the guards sash* Shae: So pretty! Aino Nystad: Brackus, you will play an active role...in the expansion of the Royal Guards. You are hereby being promoted to the rank of a Corporal. <everyone cheers> Aino Nystad: As a junior officer. Brackus: I am honored, my Captain. Aino Nystad: You will be in charge of showing the ropes to our new recruits Brackus: Thank you for this honor. Aino Nystad: There are three more important orders of business to attend. First. I am having an open contest for designing new uniforms for the city guards Pandora: *looks to fern* Pandora: they need us Fern Goodfellow: *nods* Aino Nystad: Your ideas will be modelled by a city guard at this very stage during the Faire Grounds festivities next Saturday. If you are planning on participating, I would suggest that you keep two things in mind.. Tradition and functionality are of utmost significance to the Guards. Xel The Wanderer: DANG!! Aino Nystad: The winner will get the contract to supply uniforms to the new recruits. Katrina D'antres: *raises hand* Aino Nystad: A tin can...as you might like to put it...saves lives Katrina D'antres: A question, Lady Aino. Aino Nystad: *nods at Katrina* Katrina D'antres: May a team enter? For instance, may I work with my sister to create a uniform? Aino Nystad: Aye, you may participate as a team! Katrina D'antres: *smiles* Katrina D'antres: Thank you. Fern Goodfellow: Yay! Pandora has a question as well! Aino Nystad: *looks to the back* Pandora: You said it has to keep with tradition...exactly what would that be Aino Nystad: Platemail would be tradition, for instance Aino Nystad: *smiles* Aino Nystad: You can always decide to break free of traditiong, but then your work must be good enough to surpass the resistance of traditionalists. Aino Nystad: Second issue...There is another contest in works as well. It has been brought to my attention that the current state of the garrisons is woefully inadequate The Sphinx: What's wrong with a rollmat in the center of the room? Jadon Thur: they need some flowers Aino Nystad: *resists the urge to laugh* Aino Nystad: Although the details of this are not fine tuned Calyndrell: The way the guard lives will reflect there moral Jadon Thur: oh so dancing girls as well? Aino Nystad: It is my hope to reequip the garrison at West Britain bank Aino Nystad: *laughs* Calyndrell: give them better quarters and they will fight better Aino Nystad: Once again, functionality is of highest import. There needs to be a place for guards to store their armor. For citizens to file a complaint. And many other such minor details. While, I would like to reconstruct it completely Katrina D'antres: *frowns and wonders that citizens filling complaints is a minor detail...?* Aino Nystad: our architects are busy with the refurbishment of the West Britain bank. I will announce more details pretaining to this at a later date. In the meantime, I will urge you to think on the matter.. Elladan: *raises hand* Aino Nystad: Perhaps talking with few guards to find out their needs. Aino Nystad: *nods* Elladan: must these be citizen crafted? Eeyore: guards have needs? The Sphinx: They need a rollmat, and they need a toilet, thats it. Aino Nystad: That will be announced at a later date Shae: Cookies made by Magdalena? Where ever the poor soul may be found. And if she is alive....that is... Elladan: was that in answer to my question? Aino Nystad: Aye, it was Aino Nystad: Something happen to Lady Magdalena? Katrina D'antres: *nods sadly* Calyndrell: She vanished WildStar: Magdalena is missing, Lady Aino Aino Nystad: Vanished...? Calyndrell: Yes Aino Nystad: Perhaps, she is visiting her kin? WildStar: It is feared that Baron Darkmor has her. Calynfrell: Her brother is concerned. She was last seen in the Baron's company Brackus: Her brother Canto says she has been missing days now, Captain. Aino Nystad: I was not aware that she has a brother. Aino Nystad: *frowns* Hex: Her brother was the Bard to Lord British. She was in Doom days ago before she went missing Aino Nystad: *looks concerned* Bucko: Aye, I saw her there perhaps Thursday, maybe Wednesday Aino Nystad: Finally, the third issue... Shae: Maybe she met her...doom...? Aino Nystad: and that is regarding recruitment of new guards. Many have left messages on my bulletin board asking if they can be recruited. While, the recruitment policy is still in works it will suffice to state that anyone is able to join as a new recruit Shae: Even thieves? That that I am one or anything! Calyndrell: Shae yes even you Pandora: Oh good frief there goes the garrison Aino Nystad: Whether they become anything other than a new recruit Elladan: the Recruitment rack will straighten thee out Aino Nystad: will depend on their deeds Aino Nystad: *smiles* Aino Nystad: At this moment, I will open the floor to anyone who wishes to speak Elladan: a word perhaps about Clanin Aino Nystad: *sigh* Aino Nystad: Yes? Elladan: will there be a service Aino Nystad: *nods* Aino Nystad: There is a plan to hold a memorial but Lord Casca is taking care of it. I believe he has given that task to Lord Emissary Saius Aino Nystad: *looks around* Shae: *raises quill in the air* Shae: Question. Aino Nystad: Aye? Aino Nystad: *waits for the question* Shae: How many do you expect to join the RBG while many of the people call them "Dogs of Casca"? Calyndrell: I will Serve the Royal guard... Leonidas: Here Here Aino Nystad: I will let that answer your question Jadon Thur: Lady Nystad I have a question Aino Nystad: Aye? Shae: *writes it down on her note pad* Jadon Thur: what will be the function of these "guards" or will they merely be eye candy as before? Aino Nystad: *frowns* Jadon Thur: or cannon fodder to cover Casca as he retreats like before? Oriana: The Lady said that those details have yet to be worked out Katrina D'antres: Regardless of one's opinion of the current governance of Britannia, one cannot argue...That all of its citizens are in danger and in need of protection. Aino Nystad: There will be many tasks awaiting the new guards. Eeyore: can we kill ppl? Xel The Wanderer: Anyone can kill people, but can you protect them instead? Aino Nystad: *smiles* Aino Nystad: Perhaps their is some wisdom with Sake Aino Nystad: Royal guards are an integral part of our kingdom. If you question their existance then I doubt this path is meant for you. Shae: *raises quill again* Shae: Another question. Aino Nystad: Aye, as the Captain I lead the guards. Aino Nystad: *peers at the Elf Lady* Shae: Who gets to decide who is a threat to our lands? What if Casca deems the Kingdom of Dawn a threat? Since he has stated all kingdoms should be under his rule. Aino Nystad: We are only discussing city guards Shae: *writes that down on her note pad* Katrina D'antres: *raises hand once more* Aino Nystad: *nods* Katrina D'antres: Lady Aino, who has put forth this call for city guards? Yourself or Casca? Aino Nystad: Aha. It is my initiative... Katrina D'antres: *nods* Aino Nystad: albeit one that is not supported in the corridors of the power Katrina D'antres: I think we have our answer, good people of Britannia Oriana: Indeed. Thank you for that. Aino Nystad: as you may have noted by a lack of officials here Katrina D'antres: I believe you'll find no lack of support here Lady Aino. Shae: What of the True Britannians? Are they going to be apart of the RBG? Xel The Wanderer: Shae read my mind. Aino Nystad: We need as many we can get Aino Nystad: Nay, True Britannians are ... They are not related to this. Shae: But do they not protect Britannia as well? I for one have fought to keep the streets of Britain safe Aino Nystad: They carry on the war in Felucca in the name of our lost king... Elladan: absent King Katrina D'antres: True King. Shae: *glares at Elladan Shae: Lost. Calyndrell: He shall return. Xel The Wanderer: Lost? He sacrificed himself to the Abyss so that Minax couldn't get her mitts on the fragments of the gem. That's amazing. Aino Nystad: Let us not run circles around words. Shae: One last question. Aino Nystad: Of course Aino Nystad: *Smiles* Aino Nystad: *prepares for another difficult question* Sara: *laughs* Shae: Since the True Britainians fight for our Lost King, does that mean they are not allowed to join? Oriana: *chuckles* Shae: I wouldn't be a reporter if they weren't hard! Aino Nystad: I do not believe a member of True Britannia would be willing to join. Shae: That does not answer my question, M'Lady. We fight more than just for the ideals of our Lost King. Elladan: if they resign from their faction perhaps Shae: We too, protect the people. Aino Nystad: Will they be willing to take the oath to protect king and country? Any willing to take the oath is welcome Eeyore: they have to make it thru guard boot camp first Aino Nystad: *smiles* *nods* Shae: We already have done that. Just not to the false king. Shae: *Smiles sweetly* Elladan: she speaks treason Katrina D'antres: *narrows eyes at Elladan* Oriana: *glares at Elladan* Oriana: shhh Leonidas: *glares at Shae* Aino Nystad: They will not be treated any differently because of their past affiliations for better or worse. There are always exceptions to a rule... and a rule to exceptions.. Brackus: it is important that any who join as a recruit do not Aino Nystad: so if you are looking for an answer that might cover all situations You will not receive it from me. Brackus: put their personal ideals and politics before....orders. and the chain of command. Oriana: How about a simple it is their choice? Shae: But M'Lady, you spoke saying that the guards do not serve the "king". But they serve you. So why swear to the "king"? Aino Nystad: As, I have said all who wish to serve are welcome. Shae: Should they not swear to you? Aino Nystad: Clearly, it is their choice... Shae: *scribbles on her notepad* Leonidas: *raises hand* Aino Nystad: Aye? Leonidas: Where do we sign? Aino Nystad: *smiles*
And with that just about everyone in who attended the meeting stood in line as Brackus (a town guard) had us write our names in a book. There was of course more fooling around and I had noticed that the people that attended were very carefree with their items which caused me to pick them up for them! Sadly everyone thought Shae was stealing! Who would have thought returning stol....er...dropped goods was stealing?! Even Lady Aino was dropping things!
And so you have it! The Royal Britain Guards are active once again! And We have also learned that there shall be a contest on designing the new uniform of the Guards! So get out your sewing kits and smithy hammers and dye tubs!

Cassandra's Curios' Conflagration
Posted on Sunday, April 19, 2009, 4:08 AM EDT by Shiel (Oceania)
It seems all remnants of the past are slowly fading away to be lost in time and memory. The Britain Council murdered Clainin slain by Shadowlords.. The stories of the past come to an end in order to pave the way for the new stories that are now coming to light! People may recall Cassandra Aion the Meer, Ambassador to the Royal Council from Lakeshire. She accompanied us on many a quest and graced us with her allegience and her presence. She had a small house built in Haven as her place of residence. The last newsworthy activity at the house was when the terathans invaded the place and added cobwebs throughout as well as stealing the Shadow items that used to be in the display cases. Marcel turned them for his own purposes, leading to the quest that people completed for the Terathan Recruit Pack (containing Arachnid Libram and Minion of Surano robe). I am happy to post more about that past events if people would like.. many of the archives are limited unfortunately and the pictures lost to time. For today, however, we gathered at the Castle Barracks in response to Viktor's call. He and Ellis, having arranged for someone to watch the Castle and their affairs while they were off investigating the latest crisis, informed us there was trouble at Cassandra's Curio's in Old Haven. "We've received reports about a disturbance in Old Haven. It is quite serious..The town itself is little more than a ruin. This is why Captain Cotume summoned you. Citizens reported seeing great plumes of smoke twisting into the heavens." "I feel it is our duty, to investigate this matter further." Viktor added, "Be watchful." "Aye, lest the disturbance spread" Ellis replied. "We are not sure what to expect, so be on your guard." Viktor warned. Ellis instructed us to spread out and report back to them whatever we find. It was not long before the disturbance brought us to what remained of Cassandra's old house. It had been burnt to the ground with only rubble remaining. The area was infested with brigands which the Royal Guard made quick work of. The gate the terathans used to reach Haven was found partially collapsed. The terathan seer who wandered near the gate was nowhere to be seen. There were also several remnants of items that appeared to be from Cassandra's shop. They formed a trail which the Royal Guards and Captains were quick to follow. Guards reported that the Terathan Seer was up on the North coast. It seems he ran when the brigands invaded! "Have you questioned this... creature?" Viktor asked warily. It seems the friendly terathan took him aback slightly. I guess there were very few who actually spoke with humans, even in the past when they served Marcel Surano. Daniella was the first to approach the quivering terathan. "Seer!" "Yes? What is it? Why do you bother me? I'm busy." Boris was the next to ask him. "Busy?" "That's what I just said, fool. These pirates stole a very dangerous artifact. One of great power I was watching. It is gone now. We are doomed." Cook asked about pirates next. "The brigands that sailed in such haste they left shipmates behind." "Of course... the brigands at the ruins." Viktor agreed. At this stage, two intrepid guards immediately launched boats! Although as yet we had no idea where we needed to go. Scouting the perimeter, of course. "Where do you away to in such haste?" Viktor asked. We did not yet know where they went from Haven. Yet if we were to give chase... "You wish to follow these pirates? How do I know your intentions are honorable?" the seer looked quizzically at the gathered crowd. "We are honorable," I assured it eagerly. "I will have to take your word. I chased their leaders to this coastline. Huge terrible men. They strike fear even into powerful seers such as myself. They sailed south. Directly around this coast. I know not what lies that way." "South we go." Boris agreed. "Yes. What islands lie south of here? You must hurry. Retrieve the artifact!" "That's a good question." Boris answered the seer while he and the gathered crowd considered the question. "I have no idea what's south of new Haven." Cook replied. "Serpents Hold is kind of south of here." Ellis commented. "I doubt pirates would get past the knights of Serpent's Hold." Davin Forsosa scoffed at the idea. "Well... surely they would head for a city. The Hold has been known to shelter pirate scum." Viktor returned. With that, Ellis gated us to Serpents Hold. The guards again spread out to search. Nothing unusual was found within the city itself. The Ophidian Warrior was still wandering near the old Serpent Quest, but the Order Guard seemed to have the city under control. Eventually, the pirates were found to the South of the City on the Island of Serpents Hold. The guards rummaged through the remains after disposing of the pirates at the site. "I FOUND THE ARTIFACT! I FOUND THE ARTIFACT!" chatswood rats claimed, bringing the Captains running. With this loud assertion, Captain Montague appeared and attacked Ellis! He systematically started to slaughter the gathered guards. He was quite tough to kill.. we struggled with him for a long battle before he finally succumbed. I stood back and assisted the injured as much as I could for the fights. Especially after it was noted that he seemed to be draining the pets of their health and using it himself! A very strange pirate this was indeed. After he was dispatched, our Captains immediately went back to the task at hand. "Where is this statue?" "Aye, who reported finding a statue?" Our Captains both said at once. "Smash the crates, I want to see this statue!" Ellis ordered. After a brief interlude (as no one had brought an axe with them), the crates were smashed revealing the Ophidian statue that was on Cassie's desk! "Viktor, this is what they were after!" Ellis cried. "We should collect this and secure it." With that, Viktor bent down and picked up the small statue, then we moved onto the boat to look at the Captain's log. "The pirates were mere pawns it would seem." Cook asserted. "This logbook tells of an island with a sandy northern shore..." Ellis pondered. "Bald island!" Hurakan claimed triumphantly. "Do we agree?" Ellis asked. With a chorus of assent, the guards were happy to follow the Captains to Bald Island to see what we would see, see, see.. *makes a naval salute as she travels through the gate* To the South of Bald island, we again found crates and boats with one Captain Johns guarding them. He also targetted Ellis before the rest of us, perhaps noting the air of command about him. He was particularly nasty.. seeming to instantly kill pets and at intervals casting a particularly nasty poison on everyone in the area! There were many deaths in this battle also. I would love to know where these pirates were recruiting their Captains! This one it seems, even managed to steal Paroxysmus' dinner! Someone claimed to find it on his corpse when he was eventually put to rest. "Another statue" Ellis commented, once the crates at the site were smashed. Viktor couldn't take his eyes off the blue genie statue that used to sit in the display case at Cassie's place. "Allow me to collect this artifact and we can head home." he said. "What is so important about these statues I wonder?" Ellis pondered, then stepped quickly in front of Viktor as he reached for the statue. "Wait Viktor, you have your hands full. I shall help you with this one" "I uhh..." Viktor guardedly looked at Ellis. "No, please don't thank me. It is obviously heavy" "I am quite capable of..." Viktor frowned at Ellis and returned his gaze hungrily to the statue on the ground. "Think nothing of it." replied Ellis easily and reached down and plucked the statue almost from the hands of the preoccupied Viktor. He looked like he was about to argue the point, then resigned. "Very well, you carry it, Ellis...." "We have to put these in secure holdings until we figure out what the pirates wanted with them. The seer did not do well to keep these pirates from getting it" Ellis said, as he secured the statue in his pack. "I'm sure they are just trivial trinkets, but we cannot be too sure." "Alright, we might consult with the seer later." Viktor agreed reluctantly. "Maybe just send a messenger to let the seer know the items have been recovered for now." Davian Forsosa stated, looking from one to the other. "They went to a lot of effort to collect them and prevent us from retaking them. If there are no other clues... Ellis started. "Let us return to the barracks." Viktor finished. "We should get these items back and secured" Ellis repeated. It is clear these items are of great importance. The guards had some other interesting comments.. "How do we know there were only 2?" Cook asked. "We should take them to the seer." Antalya asserted. "I only remember the seer mentioning 1 item of great power." Cook mused. "Through the gate!" Ellis said, forestalling all conversation. Viktor walked up to Lucy as soon as he arrived. "You truly are a vision, my dear." "I'm sure she is glad to see you alive Viktor." Daniella returned. Ellis sighed when he saw this sight and brought him back to the matters at hand. "We have more pressing matters, Viktor." "Oh... of course. Forgive me old friend." and threw a warm smile at Lucy. Love in the air perhaps? "Thank you everyone for your help collecting these artifacts." Ellis said to us. "Our pleasure Captain's." Daniella answered for the crowd. "The reward was preventing the artifacts being in the wrong hands." Davian Forsosa asserted. Although there were a few less pleased with this outcome. "When shall we let the seer know they are found? And find out what they do, or are for?" Antalya wanted to know. I want to know too but they continued.. "We had our lead Forensic Evaluator following in our footsteps. She has determined who landed the killing blows on each of the vile pirate captains. As a token of our appreciation, a small tribute will be erected in the Reward's Hall. Lady point and click, thank you for felling the fiend Montague, and Estrelita, you landed the killing blow on Captain Johns. You all deserve our thanks." Congratulations to you both! "Viktor, let us take these artifacts and secure them away. We will give notice to our Guards where they are." Ellis said. He seemed anxious to get the statues away safely. "Thank you again, citizens." Viktor said to us. "Citizen? I've got a guard sash that was given to me thank you very much. :P" Davian Forsosa claimed, obviously slightly put out at his reduction in rank. "Aye, thank you. We will call upon you again soon, no doubt." Ellis said and the two departed, leaving a few questions unanswered. Such is the way of things however, we must be patient it seems!

The word was out.. Lucy who has recently started telling us about events again (in the barracks at Britain Castle) said we were to meet the Captains at 8pm Good Friday night. She did not have any further details for us so we were all curious. People waited with varying degrees of patience for the Captains to arrive. Shortly after 8pm, Ellis Duffield appeared and greeted the crowd. Viktor Cotume joined him slightly afterward and made his way to join Ellis on the Northern side of the room. We all waited to hear why we were gathered. It seems that the staff who look after Jaine's mansion were worried about her animals. Jaine was a rather eccentric Lady who used to be a part of the Royal Council. She hosted two events previously where we had to find and retrieve her pets. She also commissioned people to submit designs for her Homestead built near her zoo in the Lost Lands. Lady Kat submitted the winning design: The zoo that houses all of the animals is located just South of the Homestead: Ellis reported that Jaine had in fact perished when the Council was assassinated before King Casca was crowned. I was saddened by this news.. may she rest in peace. Jaine's staff had communicated by letter to Ellis and Viktor that there was no one to take over the estate. It seems that the staff residing at the estate needed some assistance with the animals. The Captains suggested that we move to the Homestead so they could explain what the staff wished us to do. Everyone was eager to follow his lead. He cast a gate to the Homestead just after this picture was taken. When we arrived, everyone was in awe of the Homestead. Many had forgotten it was there, while others had known that the winner and prizes had been announced but had not seen the design. Viktor told us that "Uncle Reebdoog" has a line of quality animal food. We were to use the names of the foods to find them, then bring the sextant coordinates back to them. The first one back with each food location would have an item of furniture named after them in the house! Ellis was even kind enough to provide us all with a sextant for the task, although it seems we need to learn to line up when asked or we might end up with drill practice! "Sloppy" he said we were... The ten items we had to find were read out by Viktor Cotume as follows: Scrumptious Saccharine Snake Snacks Aeon said later that the items would be left out for a few days if you wish to try it for yourself :) Hence the resulting locations and winners have been put into a spoiler so you can see how you go without seeing them. Viktor also said that the items would be placed within the next few days within the Homestead - I am looking forward to seeing them! The forum post contains a spoiler thread with pictures of the items at their locations for those interested. It can be viewed here. The winners for people to reference: Shiel noX SORO MANY SPAWN Kazuya De Aracia Lady Jess Lady fib Fink Beastmaster Congratulations Everyone! Follow up: A few days later the items were indeed placed in the homstead. I met EM Vespera there while I was taking the pictures for the end of this report: All of the furniture, as promised bears the winning names from this event. The Intricately Carved Thrones with Red Velvet Cushioning bear the names Daniella, BeastMaster, Shiva Me Timber's, Lady Jess, De Aracia and Fink. They were extremely comfortable.. one could imagine curling up on one with a good book in the evening after a hard days hunting, champ spawning, murdering, crafting or any other pursuit. The barding corner contains SORO MANY SPAWN's Fine Teak Stool to play Lady Fib's Striking Yew Wood Harp or noX's Menacing War Drum. The little corner table is named for myself as a Useful Rosewood Table. EM Vespera commented that this may run on a monthly basis.. but that she has many other plans for us so we will see. After visiting the EM Hall I went to check the progress on the new Events Rewards Hall. Last I knew they were taking donations of stone and wood for the project so you can imagine my surprise when I saw the hall pretty much completed in front of me. I took a quick tour of it and wanted to share it with all of you. All I can say is EM Cernonnus was not kidding when he said he had a touch for doing homes. Next time you see him tell him he did a wonderful job on the hall. Now it makes me wonder how nice our new Fair Grounds will look when they get them done. For those of you who wish to visit the new Hall you can get there by stepping into energy filled cloud that is beside the Councilor (EM) Hall in Britain.

EM Mini-Event Saturday April 18th, at 7:30 p.m. EST
Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 6:00 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
This evening I was making my rounds to see if there was any new news when I stopped by the EM Hall only to find a new shield placed announcing an future event and a book laid on top of it. This looks to be an Mini-Event this coming Saturday April 18th, at 7:30 p.m. EST and if the book is a clue it involves Lord Owain Surrey. Here is the tale written in the book. For those of you who are not sure who Owain Surrey is here is his back story (Owain is the RP Character EM Kasaven uses for events.): Owain came into being roughly around the same time as Lord British, and thus has been in the land of Britannia for around 57 years. However, unlike Lord British, Owain was behind the scenes for the majority of his tenure. He hailed from a distant land, but came to Britannia to serve with Lord British. He was on British's council in every one of his tenures as king, but was never revealed to the people, for he had a secret service that he performed. Not only was he on the council to advise Lord British, but he was an his Royal Augur, a soothsayer. His visions came to him in dreams, and he used those visions to advise Lord British in matters of war, monetary decisions, and foreign policy. He was British's right hand man, only remaining behind the scenes for purposes of safety; he could not be risked to British's enemies. Then, as Lord British left Britannia for a time, Lord Blackthorne came to power as regent of Britannia. Owain, still wishing to support the regent and the land, remained on the council and remained the Royal Augur to Lord Blackthorne. For quite some time, Lord Blackthorne ruled a prosperous society, and Owain Surrey stood by his side, advising him behind closed doors. In time Owain Surrey was not the only advisor whispering words in the ears of Lord Blackthorne. Three black robed men began accompanying Lord Blackthorne; his ears no longer listened to the soothsaying of Owain. If Owain would press them to allow him access to Blackthorne they would beleaguer him, refusing him influence upon the regent. They spoke to Lord Blackthorne of great treason unto the throne; they spoke of the evil intentions of the people of Britannia, and of his own council members' appetence for power and their plots to take the throne for themselves. Thus Lord Blackthorne began his gradual descent into darkness. Owain, seeing this, knew he must act soon lest Blackthorne be lost for eternity. After the black robes left at dusk upon a task most rancorous and malicious in nature (Owain could see this just from the looks in their eyes), Owain burst into Lord Blackthorne's throne room to tell him a of a vision that came to him as he lay sleeping in a cold sweat, concerning the evil of these dark three, these robed aberrations. As he ascended towards the throne, he raised his eyes toward Lord Blackthorne and stopped abruptly. As he gazed upon his great lord, he saw the transformation that had taken place since their last council. His skin was jaundiced, covered in chancres; his skin sagged and his eyes looked ill, yet his mouth was curved in an ominous grin. "My Lord, what has become of you?" Owain said, eyes wide and full of pain. Blackthorne looked back at Owain, and burst into laughter. "I am better, Owain, I now see the truth!" "My Lord, you are ill, let me take you to the healers," Owain's mouth stood agape "let me undo this evil that has been done unto you!" "Do not touch me, traitor!" Blackthorne spat, "Guards, cast this man out my kingdom for he is an outlaw, never to return!" Owain teleported to and fro, avoiding the guard's snares, leaving spurts of lightning trailing in his wake. Yet he was outnumbered, and soon the room was filled with royal guards. Despite his struggles he was knocked unconscious and dragged from the hall. While this affront to Owain was great, and he was never able to return to Britannia under Blackthorne's rule, it was not the worst he faced in the coming days. A former council member and good friend Kasaven sought him out to give him the more dire news. After Owain was outcast, Lord Blackthorne sought out Owain's family, his wife and child. Kasaven spoke with much gravitas and pain as he told Owain what had happened. Owain's family was taken from his home in the dead of night and put upon the block. At the stroke of midnight, his wife and his daughter, only five years old, were beheaded as a warning to any others who would bring treason to the crown. If you spoke out against these three, who later became known as the Shadow Lords, or the crown, your pain would be catastrophic. Hearing this, Owain let out a paroxysm of rage, his fists banged against the earth with such force that he could have shattered its very fabric with his lamenting. A moment later he stood, and his eyes met with Kasaven's. He motioned his palms forward and produced a forge and hammer where before nothing stood. He gripped the hammer so tightly that his palms turned white and his eyes grew red with fury. For three days he stood before the forge, pounding upon iron with such force that the clang could be heard for miles. He poured his sorrow, suffering, and seething hatred for the Shadow Lords into his creation. On midnight of the third day he gripped the hilt of the sword he had crafted and rotated his wrists, twirling it in front of it. He entitled it "Retribution", for with it he planned to take the heads of each Shadow Lord who stole away his kingdom, his family, and his life. The Shadow Lords, knowing his intent to visit vengeance upon them, waited until Owain's exhaustion finally turned into slumber. Knowing his gift of prescience, the Shadow Lords waited until he dreamed. Using their theurgy, they brought an imprecation upon him that corrupted his dreams. From then forth, Owain's dreams were at times entirely false, the polar opposite, just as often as they came to fruition as truth. This became just another reason for Owain to make an oath to himself and his slain family to bring the Shadow Lords to justice.

An Easter Egg Hunt & Bits and Pieces April 15th 2009
Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 2:15 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Last Sunday (April 12th 2009, Easter Sunday) two Easter egg hunts were held for the Catskills residents. Both times the Easter bunny himself showed up at the North Britain Councilors (EM) Hall and stated that he had hidden eggs for them to find and then told them where to go look for the eggs. This reporter only made the later hunt and golden hued bunny sent those who were there with me to the depths of the dungeons Deceit and Despise. Soon as everyone heard where they needed to look they rushed out of the hall and recalled to those two dungeons in search of eggs. The people ran into many monsters in their search for eggs but they did not let that dampen their enthusiasm for the event, as they scoured every inch of those two dungeons in search of different colored eggs. Some found many eggs, others only a single egg, and few none at all, and when they tired of hunting they returned to the hall to swap tales of their day in the dungeons or to trade for eggs of a color that they coveted. It was a fun event and I just want to say “Thank You Easter Bunny!”. This reporter has been remiss in announcing the winners of the last Traveling Bards Night at the Jolly Roger. Unfortunately I was late getting there and only caught the very end of the event. The winner were: Third Place: Trinsic Second Place: Kaylor McKairin First place: Georg Satzler The Bards Night was followed by another successful Black Market and even EM Cernunnos was there to get to know the pirates better. The pirates of course being pirates, asked *Coughes* “Demanded” a tax tribute from him. He had no gold on him but an agreement was reached where he would come to no harm from the pirates… this time. (Best get pockets sewn into those EM robes to carry gold so you can avoid tense moments like that one.) Many of you have noticed a new energy filled cloud that is sitting next to the northern Councilors (EM) Hall in Britain. There is nothing to be alarmed about though. It is merely a gate to the new Rewards Hall that is being built for the shard. For those of you who live under a rock the Hall was taking plant donations to hall beautify it. Now EM Cernunnos is requesting all types of wood and stones to aid in speeding up its completion. So if you have some just taking up space in your house take it there and donate it. After Clainin’s Memorial Service was over many had gathered in the EM Hall to raise a toast in honor of a man who lived and died by the virtues. When whom should stumble in but Hagrid carrying a very interesting Spellbook. He inquired if he had missed the ceremony and looked saddened when he found out he had. He then asked Lord Owain Surrey for a special favor that Owain was more than willing to grant him, the honor of placing Clainin’s spellbook at the memorial. No one was sure how he had gotten the book for the last time it had been seen it was in the hands of a certain blackrock loving vampire who had bragged about his part in the slaying of Clainin. Was it the same book? No one is sure and no one is answering any questions about it. So it shall remain a mystery. Later on Anne Nomilly and myself returned to the memorial with Hagrid where he spoke of leaving our lands to visit new places and how he would like the people to remember him by his act of returning the spellbook to its rightful owner. So wherever you end up Hagrid good travels my friend and you did the right thing returning Clainin’s Spellbook.

Clainin's Memorial Service
Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, 12:00 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Clainin the former Royal Court Wizard for Lord British, was slain in what can only be called a unprovoked malicious attack by the forces of the Shadowlords Faction. Clainin, was recently moved from New Haven where he was known to be in a near comatose state for nearly a two year period of time, till he awoke dazed and confused a few weeks ago. It was decided by Lord Casca then to have him escorted to Trinsic in Felucca in an attempt to hide and protect him from harm as he slowly recovered from the long illness. It was there that his life was taken from him way to soon. Clainin was a beacon of hope for the people in these dark times will be missed and mourned by many. Clainin was first came to public notice when he served as the famed mage Nystuls apprentice where he served his master faithfully. Little did Clainin know that Nystuls had been training him to be his replacement so he could leave the lands to join the king. Clainin proved himself to be more then up to the task put before him, and rose to a position that men like Dupre sought him out to ask council. Clainin soon had his skills tested when the Meer, Juka and the forces of Exodus appeared. He had a part in finding Dawn so the people had a hero they could rally behind. When through a accident Yew got turned into a swampland by the decay spell cast by the Meer he helped them work to find a cure for the land. When Lord British left the lands for the void Clainin was made a member of the Royal Council. Where he work diligently to protect the kings lands and people. He found a cure for Sir Geoffrey the Royal Guard Commander when he had been poisoned during a battle with Keeonean, one of Minax’s generals. He also aided Avery in investigating the followers of Armageddon only to be caught in the disaster that destroyed the town of Haven and ending up in his long lasting coma. Clainin was a man that cared for the people and the land and will be missed very much. Lord Owain Surrey presided over an special memorial for Clainin in the throne room of Lord British’s castle and here is what he said of the great man. Lord Owain Surrey: I hope you are all well, and in better spirits than I. Lord Owain Surrey: Let us begin Lord Owain Surrey: It brings tears of pride to my eyes to see so many gathered here this day. Lord Owain Surrey: To honor such a man whose loyalty to Britannia cannot be summed up in mere words. Lord Owain Surrey: To honor a such a man whose magnanimous actions, time and time again, Lord Owain Surrey: protected all living things from the travesties of blinding evil. Lord Owain Surrey: Only his penetrating gaze could detect Ramuz the Shadowlord when he walked among the people. Lord Owain Surrey: Only his powerful machinations protected Britannia when Yew and Cove were overrun by Orcs. Lord Owain Surrey: *relights his candle* Lord Owain Surrey: Only his great leadership rallied the people, side by side with Dupre. Lord Owain Surrey: *bows his head, remembering a time long ago* Lord Owain Surrey: And only his gentle words prevented me from drowning in despair, when my life was in ruin. Lord Owain Surrey: He was the last of the council whose whereabouts were known, Lord Owain Surrey: and thus an era of great men of Britannia, Lord Owain Surrey: men whose good deeds we could not fathom to match, even if wed lived 10 lifetimes, Lord Owain Surrey: comes to an end this day. Lord Owain Surrey: *looks out and over the crowd, his eyes moist with sorrow* Lord Owain Surrey: It is our duty, then, to carry on as protectors of valor and virtue, of honor and humility, Lord Owain Surrey: *raises head up* Lord Owain Surrey: to stay the hand of evil till we breath our last breaths, Lord Owain Surrey: till we can no longer grasp the hilts of our swords in old age, for long have we fought damnation. Lord Owain Surrey: *takes a deep breath* Lord Owain Surrey: When word reached my ears of Clainins awakening, my heart leapt from my chest. Lord Owain Surrey: I am sure I am not the only one here who felt thus Lord Owain Surrey: eh? Lord Owain Surrey: I ran to New Haven, my mind racing, my mentor, after 10 long years, finally awake! Lord Owain Surrey: Yet when I arrived, only the outline of Clainin remained in the linen on his sick bed. Lord Owain Surrey: Word later came to my ears that Casca had moved him to a safer place and Lord Owain Surrey: as my heart had leaped moments ago, now it collapsed in my bosom. Lord Owain Surrey: I knew nothing good could come of such a thing, and my premonitions did not lie! Lord Owain Surrey: And alas, here we are today, to honor the fourth innocent soul Lord Owain Surrey: that the Shadow Lords have rent from my life, from our lives! Lord Owain Surrey: *Scans about the crowd and scoffs* Lord Owain Surrey: I also see that Casca is not here today, perhaps that is in his best interest, Lord Owain Surrey: for we demand answers! Lord Owain Surrey: As much peril as I risk in this statement, if he cannot bow his head to honor Clainin, Lord Owain Surrey: I cannot bow my head to recognize him as king! Lord Owain Surrey: But alas, today is not a day of revolution; it is a day of remembrance. Lord Owain Surrey: I remember Clainin as a great teacher, for I was his apprentice, as he was Nystuls. Lord Owain Surrey: He taught me not only the arcane arts of the magician, Lord Owain Surrey: but more importantly the love of the land and its people. Lord Owain Surrey: I carry that love with me this day and for always, and I share that love with you all. Lord Owain Surrey: Let us not lament for the man that once was, Lord Owain Surrey: but rather let us rejoice for the legacy that forever will be! Long live Clainin! Lord Owain Surrey: Never forget! Lord Owain Surrey: *looks about the crowd* Lord Owain Surrey: Shall anyone else like to say a few words before we march to his memorial in the gardens?? Lord Owain Surrey: Come, let us go then! Lord Owain Surrey: let us form Lord Owain Surrey: a line and march! (Lord Owain Surrey then led the group outside the castle and led them to a private spot in the northeastern corner of the courtyard.) Lord Owain Surrey: *bows head gently* Lord Owain Surrey: The flowers have an enchantment upon them Lord Owain Surrey: they will never wilt nor die Lord Owain Surrey: forever shall they smell sweet to honor Clainin Lord Owain Surrey: Does anyone have any items they wish to add, as an everlasting memorial?? Lord Owain Surrey: Come, hand it to me, I shall place it (Many people gave Lord Owain Surrey items to be placed around the memorial in remembrance and out of respect for Clainin at this time, and he placed them carefully around it.) Lord Owain Surrey: Thank you all, these items will help us to remember Clainin and all he has done for us Lord Owain Surrey: * bows head, saying his final goodbyes* Lord Owain Surrey: If there were ever a time when the land needed you, Clainin Lord Owain Surrey: it is now Lord Owain Surrey: I will heed your words of wisdom Lord Owain Surrey: and adhere them to the best of my ability Lord Owain Surrey: I pray I do not disappoint. Lord Owain Surrey: I shall retire to the Counselor's hall, for a few drinks in honor of Clainin. Lord Owain Surrey: If any would join me, comfort is always needed Lord Owain Surrey: *bows one last time for Clainin* (The gathered group then dispersed some going for the drinks and others to mourn a fallen hero of the land in their own way.)

A Hero Remembered | ||
Posted on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 2:59 PM EDT by Martyna Zmuir (GreatLakes)
Somber citizens gathered at the Northern Britain Counselor's Hall awaiting the arrival of Tomas Savos, the Captain of the Royal Guard. I joined the party attending from the High Council, Chancellor DaKaren, Minister Malag-aste, Dot Warner, and Setatabon. When Lord Savos arrived, he opened a gate to the throne room of Castle British and bade us enter. Minutes later he informed us that Lord Casca would arrive shortly. As if on cue, Lord Casca appeared from behind the curtains to the left of the throne and strode to the center of the dais to address the mourners. Noding solemnly to the crowd, he began to speak:
The gathered crowd lowered their heads in silent respect for the fallen Royal Thaumaturgist. Eventually, Lord Casca asked if there were any who wished to speak. Strangely, the Chancellor remained silent eliciting a few quizzical glances from his companions. One citizen did ask when 'revenge' would be sought for the murder; however, the question was ignored by the King Pro-tempore in favor of continuing the service. Stepping down into the crowd, Lord Casca began to speak again. "To make this harder, we do not have a body to lay to rest, but we have set up a small memorial for him in these castle walls. Let us walk there now to show our respect." He led the assemblage through the orchard to a quiet spot just east of the castle smithy where a small cenotaph had been erected. Placing a spellbook on the ground, Lord Casca invited others to place flowers or messages around the monument. He then commented that he wished to see the machine built by Nystul and Clainin, and led the group to the opposite side of the castle grounds. At the machine, he commented on the works of great minds and lamented their loss. By this time, the mood of the crowd had changed slightly and people openly questioned the King Pro-tempore on the subject of Clainin's murder. I felt the need to question why the Royal Thaumaturgist had been sent to Felucca so soon after his revival. The response was not what I had expected. According to Lord Casca, "That decision was made by a minor official and is being looked into. The information was kept very secret to avoid just this problem. However it seems that we have possible breaches in our security, maybe even traitors. I can't talk more since it concerns an active investigation." This information immediately set the crowd against Lord Casca, the most outspoken in the crowd being Dot Warner the merchant, adoptive daughter of Chancellor DaKaren. "How could your administration fob off such an important figure to such an obviously deficient subordinate? Are you that lazy, or just expect us to be incredibly daft?" She then likened the King to a weasel and called the active investigation 'active stupidity'. The crowed seemed to agree with her, except for the unusually pale Chancellor who wished she would be more diplomatic. Lord Savos tried to calm the crowd, informing them that it was not wise to verbally accost the King in front of the Captain of the Royal Guard. Taken aback, Lord Casca quickly retreated into an abruptly cast moongate Lord Grey arrived shortly thereafter and led those who remained at the castle to the Cat's Lair Tavern for a wake. There the drinks flowed freely and people talked long into the night. A fine memorial indeed, but we are still left with the same niggling question... Why? Martyna Z'muir, Library of Sosaria

The Monthly Atlantic Cheese Race!

The Monthly Atlantic Cheese Race!
Here's one for the months to come - each month we will be running a cheese race (crazy huh!) - the location is the Paddock just above the fair ground area outside West Brit - coordinates are (1310 1805). Inspired by an annual event held in the UK, whereby participants have to chase rolling wheels of cheese down a hill, participants will attempt to carry a weighted cheese with their name on from a start point to the finish. Every third Friday of the month starting with this Friday (April 17th), at 6pm EST, the Monthly Atlantic Cheese Race will be held at the paddock between the blacksmiths and the stables to the west of Britain. The race consists of several elimination rounds and then a final round. In each race, up to 6 participants will race and have their own cheese, which they must drag from the starting point to the end. The first person to get to the end, wins the round. The winner from each round will go through to the finals, although if there is huge interest, further elimination rounds will be implemented. The winner of the finals will have their name added to a cheese and put into the reward house, in Malas. All winners cheeses will be displayed, however only the current winner will have their cheese on display. Please remember not to disrupt the event - if you don't like how the event is being run or held, you are more than welcome to voice your opinions here on stratics; but don't disrespect the other participants! If you want to take part or simply spectate, you are kindly asked to not go inside the pen area. The rules are stated in and outside of the race area, but for reference, here they are!

UOForums Interviews Ryan Findley, Stratic's Founder
Posted on Tuesday, April 14, 2009, 8:10 AM EDT by Watchertoo (CommunityNews)
This just received from our friends at UOForums
Short 'n sweet interview with Ryan, the owner/founder of Stratics. Thanks Ryan for the brief interview 1). Did you think years ago, that you'd have gone this far, with this much support for so many games?
No, definitely not. At first I thought I thought I was just practicing my HTML. :) 2) Are you yourself a gamer? If so, which games do you actively play? If not, why did you stop?
Of course I am a gamer: that's how Stratics started! I'd loved the original Diablo and thought Ultima Online would be a continuation and growth upon a lovely social concept as it relates to online gameplay. Not to say the two are very much, if it all, the same, but I do believe they follow one another in terms of a lineage, or succession, of a persistent social environment geared around a fantasy setting. I was a fan and then player of UO far before its release, and decided there was a gap that needed filling. I did this for the sheer joy of the game. Currently I stick primarily to console gaming: from the Atari 2600 to the Xbox 360 I am a console devotee. I am very disappointed in the current state of Massively Multiplayer games. The rest of this interview can be found here. Many thanks to Ryan for this interview! Adam

Results Of The Easter Egg Hunt!
Posted on Monday, April 13, 2009, 9:49 PM EDT by Velvathos (Pacific)
Easter Egg Hunt! The masses of Pacific appeared for this years Easter Egg Hunt. It was hosted by the "Easter Bunny" and the "Evil Easter Bunny" (the Event Managers of pacific woot!). Simple rules were explained. First the Easter Bunny started explaining the rules then stated, there are "No Rules". Eggs were going to be set in Felucca and Trammel and not Ilshenar, Malas or Tokuno. The locations of the eggs for both trammel and felucca. Hythloth was quickly swarmed and locked down by S0N! (the "WorKed n MerKed!" guild in the True Britannian's Faction). Few players went to the Felucca locations to hunt Easter Eggs. Those that went to Felucca rant the risk of there eggs stolen from thieves and pk's! Spottings in towns of the Easter Bunny were sighted dropping eggs. The Easter Bunny would make a quick appearance drop a few eggs then vanish into thin air, reappear and drop more. After most of the Easter Eggs were retrieved by the massive player horde on pacific the Easter Bunnies asked everyone to form a line. In a short amount of time a line formed from the Counselor's Guild passing the bridge to the east. Others had bad luck and when they got to the front of the line the Easter Bunny ran away. I guess some karma for killing players in Felucca trying to steal there eggs decided to set in quickly. The Easter Bunnies were dressed in full virtue armor wearing talismans of vorpal bunny summoning and holding a fancy halberd! The Bunnies asked everyone to go back to the Counselor's Guild and wait while they place eggs around some of the cities. They noticed players running around chasing them trying to find more eggs! So they decided to change there plans with the last hundred or so Easter Eggs to be placed. After some work the bunnies opened a gate into the star room (Trammel facet) The floor was littered with Easter Eggs. The eggs used the same graphic as a full lime or lemon with a variety of different texts and colors. The "Evil Easter Bunny" decided to sign valentines day cards. The EM's on Pacific have been signing players valentines cards (players must bring the cards) with the special event names and giving them back to the players. This line was much shorter than the line for an Easter Egg. After a long hard day of work and entertainment the Evil Bunny bid us farewell. The number of eggs dropped on pacific range from 600 to 1000 Easter Eggs. The numbers reported varied, and we'd like to assume many players helped keep the items "rare" by eating some of them. A handful of the names that appeared on the eggs were I would like to thank Lyconis for this write up! Click here to discuss this article.

Chesapeake Celebrates Easter!
Posted on Monday, April 13, 2009, 8:00 PM EDT by Morpheus Mardox (Chesapeake)
The coming of Easter was marked with several events here on the Chesapeake shard as players, guilds, and towns alike took part in its culmination. Beginning on Saturday night, the city of Silvervale hosted it's "Bachelor's and Ladies Ball" in conjunction with the Whispering Rose Radio Network. The radio network joins the city in hosting as it provides live musical entertainment as well as the wonderful addition of "Name that Tune" , a game played by those in attendance as DJ's play a variety of songs in which the public vies to correctly guess the songs name and artist for gold! The night was a grand success as visitors drank and danced the night away! Look for another great Ball in the coming weeks! Check out those Bunnies! Upon Easter's arrival the shard awoke to several sightings of the Easter Bunny in the early hours of the day. Those lucky enough to spot the lil hopping critter recieved holiday gifts in the form of Easter Eggs! The shard brimming with excitement gathered throughout the day in hopes of getting thier hands on one of those large gem like eggs! Luna remained packed throughout the day into the evening with no sightings to report! Little did we know what soon would come our way! The weekly shardwide meeting of the Community and it's Event Moderators known as the "House of Commons" taking place Sundays at 9pm had a very special guest as announced throughout the realm. Arriving with a poof ! A white whiskery rabbit appeared before us as if we were all a part of fantasy fairy tale! Explaining to those in attendance his dilemma, the rabbit went on to ask the crowd for help in locating his missing wristwatch! Beaming, the crowd of course agreed to help the beleaguered hopper. The White Rabbit lead those in attendance west out of Britain through the player city of Gyldenfeld north to what looked to be a Hole! Descending into the depths, the crowd reached the would be home of the rabbit! The dimly lit cavern, adourned with eclectic, colorful doorways of sorts and other oddities of various shades and sizes, beckoned travelers forward as carrots soon lined the floor as tribute to the homes owner. Sparkling trees seemed to light the way to the caverns end where the White Rabbit awaited... He thanked those who came to visit for helping him locate his wristwatch warning of those who tried to sell his watch and emplored the adventurers to seek out interesting things found in the farmlands around Britain. Scouring the lands, the journey continued covering every square foot of farmland in the lands surrounding the capital city. Just as the group thought the search a farce reports began to arise of eggs! Eggs of different color and name began to emerge from the soils below delighting passerbys as they scrambled to gather the eggs. Alas the last was retrieved as the White Rabbit was once again spotted stopping to wish all those in attendance a Happy Easter. A magical journey it was as the shard rejoiced in the holiday and its community.

Event Fiction. Viktor's Confrontation
Posted on Monday, April 13, 2009, 5:38 PM EDT by Katlene (Oceania)
With a single well practiced movement, Viktor Cotume smoothed a stray wisp of his immaculately trimmed goatee back into place. This would not do. His piercing grey eyes, now sunken and bloodshot, drifted agitatedly between the countless tattered and bloodstained reports marring the usually pristine surface of his ebony desk. This would not do at all. “Why so tense Viktor?” Drawled a familiar, feminine voice. The nobleman’s brow furrowed deeply; tightly stretching the almost translucent skin across his forehead as his eyes narrowed towards the murky shadows cast by the flickering light of three crude wall torches. “Show yourself, Aezriana,” The silhouette of a petite woman slowly began to transpire in the playful torchlight and then all at once, she shed her mantle of shadows with an otherworldly grace. “How long do you intend to sit there, mulling over the same capricious information?” She cooed, almost taunting him. His limbs and joints groaned in plea to be moved but he only continued to stare with his unflinching gaze, captivated by her alluring, scantily clad figure. She perched herself elegantly on the edge of his desk, scanning the documents littering its face. Tracing her leather clad fingers along the thick lines of an archaic map; she fervently tapped the area labelled Haven as a wry smirk played across her ashen features. “We will find it here, Viktor.” The words sounding almost alien as they escaped her lips in an ill-humoured hiss. “Ellis will not like this, Aezriana…” “Ellis!” she spat, venom lacing her tongue “You are above Ellis! The loyalty you have for that beguiler is pathetic, Cotume!” “He is my oldest friend… we grew up together… I cannot…” “You must! You owe me, Viktor!” His pale eyes shone defeated in the weak light, but his face was unreadable. Her eyes on the other hand gleamed with menace and mischief. “Think of all the power you could have, that we could have, together.”

So today's house, I decided I wanted to cover the Mongbat Vineyards, this is not the full name of the house, for it is very long. So I decided to use the name that they have on their runes. I simply love this house, it reminds me of another house on a different shard that I have seen, and I simply love it! This house has a small rune library, a vendor mall and a small mini-bar on the first floor. In other words, it has it all. The Mongbat Vineyards is located directly outside of Umbra. Two Upstanding Citizens Rescue Casca's Dog!
Posted on Sunday, April 12, 2009, 6:54 PM EDT by WarderDragon (Baja)
Greetings, Readers. An unmarked envelope was recieved by the Stratics Herald this morning. The envelope contained an anonymous letter, along with several sketches that appear to correspond to the tale depicted. The letter was written in a rough, albeit learned hand, on a piece of fine vellum parchment. We are reproducing the letter and sketches here for your reading pleasure. Two upstanding citizens responsible for reclaiming Lord Casca's lost dog! Before we had the chance to print the article, we recieved another anonymous sketch. It would appear that Lord Casca was spotted near Britain Bank, happily reunited with his long lost pet. - Joshua Harper, Baja Stratics Herald.

EM's Build Origin PvP Arena!
Posted on Saturday, April 11, 2009, 10:24 AM EDT by Ghost Writer (Origin)
Yeah I know I'm supposed to be retired but this one was too big to pass up. I went the Origin EM meet-n-greet last night to see what's going on with the shard events and to see if my story was good enough to win a local writing contest. At the end of the meeting EM Laurana told us they had a special announcement and EM Faine Morgan said she had one of her field trips to take us on. After several jokes about her field trips she announced a warning, this one was to Fel to show us her new PvP Arena. We were given a few minutes to collect whatever we needed for a trip to Fel, or in my case to leave at home everything I didn't need. Faine told us she would open a gate and on the other side we would find a red vortex, to go through it to our destination. An off we went. Ten of us came through a red vortex into a tunnel which we later found out is somewhere beneath the Lost Lands so transport spells such as Mark,Gate, Recall and Sacred Journey will not work in this place. The only way in or out is when the EM's open their vortex. There was nothing to see when we first arrived except a healer and priest, obviously placed there to resurrect those in need. We traveled a very short distance to find Origins PvP Arena.
The first floor is simple, some stable for your pets, a center table with a book of house rules, and a row of empty stone tables intended to display future trophies to the winners of tournaments. The second floor is the arena itself, all entry and exit is controlled by EM Faine Morgan. The third floor is the observation area where you have seating to wait for your turn to fight and full view of the fights below. There are communications crystals in the house so you can easily hear what's being said throughout the house. Since the house belongs to EM Faine Morgan the EM's do have the power to ban anyone who breaks the rules. The rules are simple:
I couldn't wait and said, "I want to be the first to Die in there." I saw a message on my screen "You've been transferred to EM Faine Morgan!" and Faine said, "come Ghost Writer". Next thing I knew I was being pulled through the half wall that surrounds the ring, and a call was sent out, "Who wants to kill Ghost?" Surprisingly enough there were only 2 volunteers and James of [CoM] ["R"] was selected to be my executioner. I attacked James so he needn't worry about getting flagged and was dead quite quickly after that. That's when we found a minor issue, the healers would not res me because I was flagged a criminal, EM Faine said she'd get that fixed. For testing the arena and being the first to christen it with my blood, James and I were honored with the first Book on the Trophy wall: Arena Now Open
So the obvious next questions were, how's this going to work and when is going to be open? Entry to the area is controlled by the EM's opening the vortex for us to even get in here. Once there the EM's can ban anyone from the house but they are relying us to behave and not give them reason to. This is an opportunity for controled PvP tournaments with bragging rights to the winner in the form of your name in a book or some type of named statue in permanent recognition on the trophy wall. I hope I'm the only one ever noted for dying there, that would normally be embarrassing to most, but I am most pleased to get my name in that first book and my blood the first spilt in this arena. I should be good at dying, I am a Ghost after all. The EM's said they plan to do all types of tournaments, one on one, pets, chicken fights, and I believe I heard teams but I'd imagine they would be small, this is house size. When? Em Faine Morgan said she'd like to get the first tournament scheduled before the end of the month! So keep an eye on the EM's web site for a date for the first Origin PvP tournament run by EM Faine Morgan and EM Laurana! Be the first to get your name on the first trophy. Oh I'll bet you want to see what this place looks like... Here is the first floor with stables, the rule book and trophy wall. This is the arena, notice no doors to enter. This is the observation area with seating. And the Rules. The first Death in the Arena. Well I better get back to the grave yard before someone notices I'm missing.

House of the Week! | ||
Posted on Friday, April 10, 2009, 7:45 PM EDT by Velvathos (Pacific)
Velvathos presents! This is the first house of the week that I have decided to do, and this week, I present to you a house of which the sign reads: Grand Order of Knights, Owner: Lara The house looked great inside, there was a small little bar inside and it would be great for tavern events, the house had a wonderful atmosphere and I was really comfortable inside. I had been running around for a while and need the rest, so I stopped and had a ale while I reviewed the first floor! The second floor looked fantastic, everything matched up well and nothing clashed, as well as the third floor, it was a real peaceful house. I loved the roof, a good roof is not easy to customize in UO! it takes much time and they are a bonus in my book! I was glad to have had the pleasure of reviewing this house and there will be more to come in the future! - Velvathos

Clainin's Memorial Service
Posted on Friday, April 10, 2009, 7:38 AM EDT by Medea (Drachenfels)
Last Wednesday the funeral for Clainin, the Royal Thaumaturgist, was held. Tuerius, the Captain of the Royal Guard, and Hanassa Oriel asked the citizens for help in the search for exquisite material for the construction of the memorial. In a short time the necessary things were collected and the construction completed. In a solemn ceremony Clainin was honoured for his life's work and the attending crowd praised him with the highest respect. If you want to visit the memorial yourself, you can do this any time of the day, it lies within the walls of the castle of Lord British, just right next to the royal Blacksmithy, in a very quiet part of the garden.

A Fallen Icon | ||
Posted on Friday, April 10, 2009, 12:26 AM EDT by Lady Mana (NapaValley)
Clainin's Memorial With heavy hearts and a well embroidered sash on their chest, many Britannian citizens paid their respects to the fallen court mage: Clainin. His death and disappearance have long been under suspicion, and the fact that Melissa is said to have killed him while under Casca’s protection has done nothing to help this fact. Perhaps our King is weak because he is not destined to rule. Perhaps he is just weak because his citizens undermine their support. Regardless, this incident has forced me to not only mourn our lost mage Clainin, but also to mourn the memory of Lord British. Wherever he and Nystul are in the Void, I am sure they would have preferred to pay his respects at the memorial. After foe and friend gathered at Castle British and accepted the eulogy Lord Casca delivered, they made a procession and walked toward the memorial site. There, a lone book laid atop a short pillar. Individuals paid their respects privately, and as the night progressed, artifacts of remembrance were placed.

[NEWS] Kaden Marsten ~ A Simple Man From Moonglow...
Posted on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 11:29 AM EDT by Andrasta (Atlantic)
Kaden flung the door to his shack open and threw his hunting sack down on the table. Barely bigger than a prison cell, and less inviting than any dungeon in Britannia, many people would have been hard pressed to have lived in such a place. But Kaden was oblivious to such qualities. To him, all he saw was that this place was quiet – and quiet meant no people. Kaden wasn’t one for socialising much – he had kept to himself for many years; hunting various animals and, on occasion, the odd miscreant, usually elven, who had the misfortune to cross his path. He sat down at the table, kicked his boots off, and opened the leather sack in front of him. It was then that he noticed a letter that had been left on the table, addressed to him. Curious; it had the emblem of the Royal Council embedded into the seal. Kaden opened the letter, and laid it out on the table as he sorted through the contents of the sack. Mr Marsten,With the recent, and unfortunate, deaths of the Council, there have opened up a number of positions that require filling. Appropriate candidates have been hard to find and, after a very thorough selection process, it is with the King’s greatest pleasure that I am to inform you that you are hereby invited to rejoin the ranks of the Royal Britannian Guard as Captain of the Royal Guard. Kaden played with a recently severed drow ear for a moment, pondering over the invitation that had been extended to him. So impersonal, not even signed by the new King himself. And why would he be picked? He had left on bad terms with his superiors, with whom he had disagreed with over the running of the Royal Council. Now that they were gone, however, perhaps things would be different? After all, things recently had been hard for Kaden – life as a huntsman was not as profitable as it once was and with the recent town invasions and local trade slacking off, much of his income had been sourced from contracts, usually take out against drow. Kaden looked over to his old officer’s armour in the corner of the shack, behind some hides. He picked it up and cleaned some of the mould and tarnish off with the sleeve of his shirt. A few missing rings here and there, nothing that couldn’t be fixed soon enough. His time for retirement had not yet come, so fate would seem.. I have encountered this individual twice now and he seems friendly and eager to please in his new role, some times too friendly I think and I wonder where his alliances really lie... Valentines Day
Posted on Thursday, April 9, 2009, 6:21 AM EDT by Katlene (Oceania)
Everyone met at the west Britain bank and were lead to the farmers cottages over the bridge on the outskirts of town, there we found a lady, sobbing loudly… Lorien de Merchante: I just do not know what to do! Lorien de Merchante: He died when the terathans invaded Britain Lorien de Merchante: *She wails hysterically* Propheus: how can we help you? Lorien de Merchante: But that is not the least of it! Lorien de Merchante: I am to be married! Big Luke: I can’t breath Lorien de Merchante: Married tomorrow! Propheus: where is your fiancé? Katlene: Congratulations Lindae: I am a necromancer. I can bring him back as a shambling sin against God if you wish. Propheus: who is your fiancé? Lorien de Merchante: I just cannot possibly go through with the ceremony without my father's blessing. Lorien de Merchante: *She sobs loudly* You see: Sage Lovejoy Propheus: do you want us to contact him using dark magic? Lorien de Merchante: What am I going to do! Lorien de Merchante: Oh papa! Lorien de Merchante: *She sobs* Propheus: how can we help? Lorien de Merchante: I cannot marry without your blessing, father. Sage Lovejoy: What’s all this noise! Lorien de Merchante: Oh, I'm sorry, sir! Sage Lovejoy: Can't a man get some sleep! Propheus: where can we find his remains? Phygamon: ???? Katlene: Do we need a psychic? Lorien de Merchante: I am just so upset Propheus: perhaps you can ask him at his grave site? Lorien de Merchante: *She dabs her sodden eyes* Sage Lovejoy: Oh dear... what is the matter? Lorien de Merchante: My father! He... he... died Lindae: For heaven's sake stop crying, woman. Propheus: we can protect you if you wish this journey Lorien de Merchante: And I am to be married, tomorrow! Lorien de Merchante: I cannot without his blessing. Lorien de Merchante: *She wails* Propheus: how can we get his blessings? Sage Lovejoy: Oh I see Katlene: Girl! Lindae: Woman! Propheus: talk to us Katlene: Calm yourself an ask of us what we can do to help Sage Lovejoy: You're in a predicament alright Propheus: tell us what to do Lorien Lorien de Merchante: I do not know what to do... Lorien de Merchante: *She sulks* Katlene: Where is he buried? Propheus: where was he slain? Sage Lovejoy: Well just stop crying Katlene: maybe we can speak to him and show us a sign of his blessing Propheus: may be we can start from there Lorien de Merchante: I only have this picture of him... nothing else. Sage Lovejoy: I need some sleep Sage Lovejoy: A picture you say? Shiel: on the wall... Lorien de Merchante: Aye, this portrait. Katlene: Is there anything written on the back of it? Lorien de Merchante: It is all that I have to remind me of him. Propheus: Lorien, where did he work? Katlene: Bee keeper wasn’t it? Lindae: Well, then, let us go and dig up graves! Lorien de Merchante: He was a beekeeper, sir. Sage Lovejoy: Hrm Propheus: perhaps we can start there Lindae: ...can ask if for blessings! Sage Lovejoy: *thinks and seems to consider something* Propheus: may be his spirit is still there lingering Lorien de Merchante: Can you think of anything I can do, old Sage? Sage Lovejoy: I might be able to help you Sage Lovejoy: and me Lorien de Merchante: Really? Katlene: Where did he work exactly Lorien? Sage Lovejoy: Oh yes Lorien de Merchante: What must I do, Sage? BBurnyeWest: I shall help you Sage Lovejoy: *puffs out chest* Sage Lovejoy: I am a person of some repute with what some may call distasteful magicks Lorien de Merchante: Oh I see... Katlene: Can you speak with those that have passed? Lorien de Merchante: You think you can assist me...? BBurnyeWest: yes Lorien de Merchante: I would do anything! Raistlin: Yes Propheus: Sage what do you have in mind? Sage Lovejoy: I do... that painting will help too Lorien de Merchante: *She glances at the portrait sadly* Sage Lovejoy: I am awaiting delivery of reagents and scrolls from Yew Katlene: Shall we there? Lorien de Merchante: It is late, Sage? Sage Lovejoy: The order included some components that would be integral to such a spell that would be needed Propheus: Lovejoy what do you propose? Propheus: what components Sage Lovejoy: Well, yes as a matter of fact Lorien de Merchante: When will this shipment arrive, sir? Lorien de Merchante: I am to be married tomorrow! Sage Lovejoy: the delivery is overdue Katlene: Could we perhaps get these components for you? Propheus: first tell us what they are Sage Lovejoy: If it were here today we could get this sorted and I could go back to bed! Sage Lovejoy: *oozes gruffness* Propheus: I meant components Lindae: Very well, then. Where is this shipment coming from? Lorien de Merchante: What should we do, Sage? Lorien de Merchante: I cannot possibly marry without my father's blessing. Sage Lovejoy: Well, perhaps we might find some of the more adventurous sort in here Katlene: oho Sage Lovejoy: who obviously cannot abide the wailing either Sage Lovejoy: to help us Lorien de Merchante: Well... these fellows look able bodied... Lindae: Tell us where the ship came from and we shall take to the seas and find it. Lorien de Merchante: Could you assist me, fair citizens? Lindae: Surely someone can help. Sage Lovejoy: They were being delivered by land, not ship Katlene: Of course Propheus: where may we intercept this shipment? Lindae: Then that's why they went missing. Sage Lovejoy: But I wouldn't discount pirates Lindae: Everybody knows that delivering things by land is foolish. Lindae: What route did they take? Rachael: I will try, though I am not very strong. Sage Lovejoy: I don't want to think the worst! Katlene: Nothing wrong with pirates! Propheus: i am sure it’s heavily guarded Katlene: *coughs* Lindae: What route did they take? Sage Lovejoy: Let us follow the road to Yew and see if we can hasten the delivery! Propheus: Sage can you throw us a gate to such place Katlene: We must walk so we do not miss them Lorien de Merchante: I am not a wealthy woman... Lindae: Ahh, Yew. Propheus: Yew is a long road perhaps you can get us there Lorien de Merchante: But I may be able to reward some who assist me. Katlene: Signs of cargo or a disturbance Propheus: I will try Sage Lovejoy: oh ho ho I just want my sleep Propheus: Lorien Sage Lovejoy: Let us go! Lorien de Merchante: Aye? Sage Lovejoy: *chuckles* Propheus: he is tired Alucard: it’s through the mountain to the west Sage Lovejoy: I do not leave my hut very often Darkmage: this way Sage Lovejoy: No couriers yet Sage Lovejoy: *sighs* Everyone headed for the hills and followed the mountain side around on the path till we came across a campsite. Sage Lovejoy: Oh dear Sage Lovejoy: These look familiar Sage Lovejoy: It is not so much the reagents and scrolls I am worried about MissEcho: what is it then? Sage Lovejoy: but upon each of the five scrolls Sage Lovejoy: there was a question Sage Lovejoy: One must answer the question to prove that they are of pure heart Sage Lovejoy: in order to cast the spell Sage Lovejoy: Without them, I cannot cast the spell for the young lass and all is lost BBurnyeWest: what are these five questions? Antalya: Well, we must find the fiends that robbed them then Sage Lovejoy: If we should find any of the questions Sage Lovejoy: Make note of their answers in a book! Sage Lovejoy: Let us see if these brigands have taken anyone from the delivery Sage Lovejoy: We need more cluse Vance: Yes! I know they kept some crates here but they mentioned moving them elsewhere. Sage Lovejoy: The reagents I need to cast the spell Vance: I heard them mentioned a place, made of marble. *Thinks* Circle of marble not too far from here Sage Lovejoy: Vance says they took reagents to a place over the mountains Vance: Yes! West of here, over the mountain. Release these bonds I beg of you! Alucard: west of here Alucard: circle of marble Deneya: you know where? Faeryl Tyr'athem: nope Sage Lovejoy: Great! Sage Lovejoy: I need the answers to the questions Sage Lovejoy: They are more important Vance: Protect me! Sage Lovejoy: There should be one of 5 scrolls there Sage Lovejoy: a question to answer. Write it in a book Sage Lovejoy: and a clue to the other reagents MissEcho: what we supposed to be doing? Sage Lovejoy: Go to the circle of pillars west of here! Write the answers to the questions in a book and follow the clues! Sage Lovejoy: West of here over the mountains! MissEcho: ahh ok Rachael: you are staying here, sage? Sage Lovejoy: All this adventuring is too much for me Sage Lovejoy: I will return to the young lass and console her Sage Lovejoy: *winks* With that the sage headed back to the huts while the ‘brave adventurers’ continued on to find all the scrolls. The first stop was at the marble pillars, some refer to it as stone henge other as the wisp circle. It is found just to the south of the blighted grove. There, a few crates were found with a scroll and a journal nearby. On the scroll was a question, and in the journal was a hint to the next location. The answer to this was the Grove of love. This Led to the shrine of Homare, just south of the moon gate. There was the next batch of crates, book and journal The answer to this is Lord Brittish This led to a small area in Ilshinar north from the Spirituality gate. The answer to this is Mu Indicated to check at the waterfall which is located to the north of the justice shrine The answers are compassion sacrifice and justice Hinted to head north of the waterfall to a field of flowers The answer is Sudiva. After all five of the answers were collected people went back to the hut where the sage and the bride to be waited. The sage collected the information and began is spell. Sage Lovejoy: Hrm Sage Lovejoy: A false start Lorien de Merchante: Please, try again Sage! Sage Lovejoy: *checks staff is in good order* Sage Lovejoy: Right then Sage Lovejoy: *waves his arms around and SHOUTS mysterious magicks!* Lorien de Merchante: *She peers at the portrait* Lorien de Merchante: Father...? : Yes, my dear, it is me! Oh how I have missed you. Lorien de Merchante: Please, can I have your blessing? : Of course my child, I only want to see you happy. You have my blessing. Lorien de Merchante: *She sobs* Lorien de Merchante: I love you! : I love you too sweetheart; you are forever in my heart... I will be watching over you. Antalya: *claps for Lorien* Lorien de Merchante: *She begins to cry* Lorien de Merchante: Oh thank you, Sage! Sage Lovejoy: I think the connection is broken Lorien de Merchante: I am at peace now, thank you... Propheus: he gave her the blessing she needed Lorien de Merchante: And thank you, everyone whom assisted. One of the prizes awarded for compleating the task Thankyou Teeshy for this picture

Clainin's Memorial Service
Posted on Sunday, April 5, 2009, 1:41 AM EDT by Katlene (Oceania)
Viktor Cotume: Good to see a few of you about. King Casca should be joining us shortly. a short while later The King has asked me to transport you all to the site of the memorial. If you could all please follow me in an orderly fashion. Everyone followed Viktor to a courtyard inside castle Brittish The King is on his way. Behold, our benevolent King Casca! Casca: Hello everyone It is a pleasure to see so many friends of Clainin *gestures grandly out to the crowd* My esteemed citizens of Britannia, Thank you for coming today. I have accomplished many things in my lifetime… Great things. What I regret most is not achieving the ability to save this man… This Hero. We have gathered here today to celebrate the life of Clainin, beloved mage of Britannia and friend to many. Apprenticed to Nystul himself, one could see early on that Clainin was a remarkable young man. Upon Nystul's mysterious departure, Clainin was promoted to Royal Court Mage. During Clainin's tenure in this austere position he overcame many challenges. His assistance with the machine on these grounds to detect Minax and bring about the end of her evil plans to destroy Sosaria, was astounding and successful. His position on the Royal Council let him contribute his ingenious thoughts and ideas for the betterment of Britannia. Clainin became an ambassador to our Ilshenar allies, the Meer. His involvement was instrumental to curing Yew of its poisonous swamp infection with the assistance of the Meer. *coughs lightly* Clainin's power was growing. He was approaching his prime. He alone was able to reveal the shadowlord Ramuz's true form from his disguise as Odric. This enabled the Royal Guard to banish Ramuz for a time and ensure the continued safety of our beloved land. Clainin became bold and adventerous. He began to relish the excitement garnered from leading the Royal Guard against our dangers. *His voice becomes grave* It was no secret though, that Inu the Crone had developed feelings for him. But was a private man and was quite successful in keeping his private life private. I'm sorry that Inu could not be here today, she declined my invitation and gave no reason but to grieve in private. It was a truly disastrous the day Haven exploded into ruins. Clainin was investigating why so much blackrock was being collected into such a confined area. It was truly remarkable that he survived. The survivors of the explosion selflessly saw to his needs and for many years tended to him. It was truly great and joyfull news that Clainin was reviving! I had received reports he was in danger and did my best to see to it he was kept safe. *nods gravely* To prove my reports right, an attack was indeed made on his life with transporting Clainin to a safer location. *sighs* But evil won out. Struck down by the Shadowlords faction and their murderous leader, Melissa. She saw to it there was nothing left to recover or resurrect. *sighs sadly* The explosion of the building was absolute. Melissa had destroyed Clainin. And we are left to mourn the passing of a courageous friend and ally of the land. Ashes to ashes. Dust to dust. Thank you for your attention Viktor Cotume: Well spoken, M'lord! Casca: I have sponsored the building of this memorial in Clainin's memory Viktor Cotume: You truly honor our fallen brother. Casca: The royal masons are at work on something grander as we speak. I shall instruct my guards to pass word around that the memorial is finished Viktor Cotume: We will see to it, M'lord. Once it is constructed. Casca: Good, Viktor. Please, if you wish a token of this occasion, perhaps you might like some fruit from the trees. They are quite delicious He pointed to a book on a stone column This was a tome oft held by Clainin in his younger days Thank you again for coming to celebrate the life of Clainin with us Viktor Cotume: Allow me to escort you, My King. And with that the King walked away with Viktor and the service was over.

Britannian Coalition Auction ~ Saturday April 4, 2009
Posted on Friday, April 3, 2009, 6:01 AM EDT by Andrasta (Atlantic)
Your host, our very own Tazar, invites the citizens of Atlantic Shard to the newly opened Britiannian Coalition Auction house located on the lovely Malas facet. Co-ordinates: 8°S, 0° 21'E Directions: The Britannian Auction House is located near the edge of the world on Malas. Situated near Gravewater Lake, the auction house is a series of houses tied together with a river flowing on the roof. On the first floor, you will find a very simple crafting area, which allows you to pass the time away or make some quick alterations before the auction begins. On the floor, under the bear rug, is a magical transporter that will take you to the auction seating area. The second floor contains a few game tables in which you can use to pass the time before the auction begins. You will find a Backgammon, Checkers, Chess, and Mahjong Board. The fourth floor is the action packed Auction Floor. This is where the auction will take place. Billy Mays will be your auctioneer. Sparkle Seller will be your item lady, and Cyr Isis is Billy Mays's security guard. Near the auction house, you will find the Britannian Alliance Guild Hall, where meetings are held regarding alliance business. Also, you will find a rune library rich in many locations. (Please be aware that the library is still a work in progress). To the south of the auction house, you will find the houses of the great home designer, Vladimir, who won the decoration contest for West Bank Britain.
I look forward to revisiting the area and all it's fine homes! (Runes to the Britannian Coalition Auction House be found at Goodman's Rune Library & Winterbreeze Rune Library)

United Pirates Announces: April Black Market Event!
Posted on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 8:47 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
The United Pirates of Catskills announce the Black Market event for Saturday Apr 4, 8 pm EST! During this monthly recurring event, you can sell, buy or trade your wares! The facts: Merchants can claim a personal market stand where they can advertise and sell their products. The merchants should enter the list of their products into the book locked down on their market stand (at least one day prior to the event, so people can come by and check on the items). The prices should be LOWER than the regular Luna vendor prices! Bargaining is encouraged! Are you looking for a certain item? You can post your request on the bulletin board out front of the Black Market. Merchants can check the board beforehand and have the appropriate items ready for sale. The board will be wiped after the Black Market is over. If you want to sell contraband, you can simply come to the Black Market building prior to the event and enter your name and your item list into one of the (empty) books on the market stands. By doing that you have claimed the market stand and may use it exclusively during the event. The Black Market building is located next to our Jolly Roger Inn. And if I'm not mistaken, Hagrid has a plan for a moment as well.

EM Cernunnos Surprises Catskills Players!
Posted on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 8:38 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
This morning a new shield was found locked down in the Britain Councilors (EM) Hall, on it was written “Cernunnos Will be Here 8:00 Eastern, Thursday 4/2”. At the appointed time a small group of players had gathered waiting to see what Cernunnos wanted. Cernunnos appeared and chatted to the group for a short time. During that time he spent a little while taking in a few questions from those gathered and asking a few to them in return. He then said he has a surprise for everyone and asked them to follow him outside. Once there he opened a gate and ushered everyone into it. On the other side of the gate the first thing people noticed was a new building under construction. Cernunnos then declared that the new building was the foundation for Catskills Rewards Hall. Because there were complaints about how EM rewards were given out to players. It was decided that be that most of the new EM event rewards will now be displayed in a museum rather than being handed out to the players. All the shards will have their own version of the Rewards Hall because this will be the standard policy for all shards. EM Cernunnos then asked for some help with a special project for the new Catskills Reward Hall to help make it the best one out of them all. He pointed out three crates and asked the group to encourage people to donate Plants (such as nice flowers), or other tasteful decorations, to help decorate the Hall and the area around it. The three crates can be found in the middle of the new structures floor and a rune to the Rewards Hall can be found placed on the ground outside the Councilors (EM) Hall in Britain. So let us work together to make our new Rewards Hall the best out of them all by dropping off pretty plants and nice decorations. This is a shard wide effort so fill those three crates to the top and show that we are the best community out of all the shards! Also I want to include the following statement by EM Cernunnos in picture form.

The March for Answers!!!
Posted on Thursday, April 2, 2009, 3:19 PM EDT by Vallend (Catskills)
Monday evening concerned citizens came to the call of Beleg Megil in an attempt to get answers to the many questions left about Lord Casca’s rise to power. Beleg had distributed parchments all over the land requesting those who questioned Casca’s right to rule and the council that whom had given him that right to meet at the “Shattered Skull tavern” in Skara Brae. From there the plan was for the people to march in protest to the gates of Castle Blackthorn. The castle that Lord Casca had claimed as his seat of power. Once there the gathered throng would demand answers and proof from Casca and his new royal council. The tavern slowly filled with concerned members of the populace as it neared the appointed time for the march to start. Even Owain Surrey, who was Lord British’s his Royal Augur before he ventured into the void, showed up to take part in the march. At precisely 8:30 Beleg stood in the center of the room and gave a quick speech and then called for the start of the march. The gathered protestors then started the march heading first to the Skara Brae Moongate, and then through it to the Britain Moongate. From there they followed the road into Britain and pushed on through the city proper to Castle Blackthorn’s closed portcullis. There the gathered mob chanted their protests and yelled their demands for Lord Casca to come out and face them. It was then decided if Casca would not come out to speak to his people then they would have to go inside to see him. Problem was no one could figure a way in until Owain spoke up and stated that he could get everyone in. Owain then opened a gate and the throng of angry citizens rushed through it and into the Castles courtyard, but they did not stop there. The possessed horde flooded forward and through the doors of the castle looking for Casca or the members of his Royal Council. They searched every room till they found some of the council members in one of the upstairs rooms. There they vehemently started asking them questions, but the members did not answer and seemed not to even notice the growing swarm of people in the room around them. That prompted Owain to grab one of the council members shoulders to get his attention only to find him cold to the touch. Using a spell taught to him by Clainin Owain cast a spell that revealed the council members to be not living humans, but mindless undead. Owain then voiced his opinion that the new council was clearly a setup, a diversion. Leaving many to wonder if this was the true council all the time or were the undead placed here in their place so they could be elsewhere? Nor was King Casca found in the castle so the gathered protestors held a discussion and decided to head over to Lord British’s Castle to see if either Casca or Sherry the mouse could be found there. Once again the small mass of people rushed into Lord British’s Castle and poured over every inch looking for Casca, Sherry or any clue as to where they could be. Once everyone was sure they had not missed a clue the group gathered in Lord British’s throne room to openly discuss what they had found out that evening. Many thought Sherry the Mouse was the key to solving this mystery and finding her should be a top priority. Other considered finding where Casca really is the most important thing that should be accomplished. Other questions left hanging in the air were, was that the Casca’s Royal council or decoys? What hand did the Shadowlords have in all this? With the rumors of Clainins death who would fill that void for the people? Who has the right and deserves to be the King? Where is Casca holding Avery? Whatever happened to Ricardo? One thing was for sure the people had come looking for answers and by the end of the evening was left with many more burning questions than answers.
