The Fishing Council has been around as long as I can remember. This guild of wacky net tossin, fish lovin sea dogs has had several museums over the years.



There is a FCB Rares Museum on the second floor at 72o 26'N, 57o 1'E.
It has a few nice things to check out not to mention it is located in a very fishy part of town. FCB vendor shop is located next to the museum ( they have one in Magincia also ). The FCB Rune Library is in this same area as are FCB Gardens ( viewed by appointment only ) and FCB Windward Keep.



For those readers that are not good with using cords a very easy way to find this museum and shopping area is to use the FCB Banner access at the HUB just outside the Luna City walls.

Publish 71.1 Comes to All Shards - 07/27

Greetings,

We will push Publish 71.1 to all shards during the next maintenance cycle. It will address the following topics:

Publish 71.1

• Fixed an issue with the live event regarding rideable pets
• Fixed an issue with toggling quest items with the live event
• The commodity brokers should now be accepting hued items. There is still a known issue with a few items such as enhanced bandages that will be fixed during the next client patch.
• Fixed an issue with stacking modification effects using Consecrate Weapon.

I. Tensions between Britannia and Magincia continue to escalate as the two powers set about forming their own respective governments and institutions.

While no one believes there will be a peaceful outcome to this conflict - the beating of swords resonates on both sides of the Strait of Britannia - some whisper that there is a power behind both sides manipulating events towards war and bloodshed. One who has something to gain from the conflict.

The truth remains to be seen.

II. Elladan - Paladin of Trinsic and Advocate of a Peaceful and Unitied Sosaria - ordered a Warship sailed into the Magincian Harbor two evenings ago.

He announced during a meeting in the Throne Room that his ship - the S.S. Sosaria - is loaded with cannons and other mechanized weapons. His little surprise for the unsuspecting Magincians.

III. ...the ship has since vanished.

IV. House Seiren of the Umbral - notable of late for its declaration of War against Magincia and the Blood of Tarrant - is reported to have disappeared into Ilshenar in the hours following the ressurection of its patriarch's nemesis.

The Necromancer and his consort are at large. But it is said the two were seen near Skara Brae this past weekend attempting to purchase an orphan.

What impact their disappearance has on the Necrarchs move to War against Magincia remains to be seen.

V. Nicholas Tarrant - not more than a few evenings following his apparent ressurection - is reported to have entered the Sea Witch Tavern and confronted a Mistress Circe.

When their discussion was finished he turned on the rest of the gathered. "We know when a human has wronged us. We can smell it." Witnesses claim he looked at Circe with a chilling smirk and then turned to the door.

Upon departing he was pursued by three men. Fig the Ancient. Lance Marshal. And Tokugawa. His trail led them to Southern Ilshenar where he was found seated upon a throne in the Cavern of the Twisted Weald.

Each was allowed to ask one question of him before being made to depart. The nature of their discussions remains ...unknown.

VI. Alouenikah - Consort to Lindae Seiren - is reported to have extinguished the Foxclaw population in Northern Yew earlier this week.

This is not the first report of his more violent tendancies. It is said he also once captured a man so that he might drain his blood and sell it on the Black Market. A grave offense.

VII. Thanatos - known as the "God of Death" in the Blood Colieseum of J'helom - escaped his cell four evenings ago. He is described as an albino with elven features and a muscular torso.

Five million gold pieces are being offered for his capture.

Caught up in the attack Valek was barely able to parry a mace blow coming down to his head. Metal shrieked and sparked against metal as his cutlass caught the large curved blade mere inches from his face. The larger undead holding the weapon bore down heavily on the pirate, pushing the man's strength to the limits.

The living dead muscled in close, its dark red pupils glaring into the eyes of its opponent. As their numbers thinned by the critical attacks from Patience, the assassins were losing their carefully cultivated air of surprise. "She is going to die mortal. And so will you." the large brigand spat through black lips and rotten teeth. A voice that echoed from within the body rather than from the man itself.

"My death has already been foretold. And her life is well protected." Valek hissed back.

"Today I prove you wrong!" The large man countered, reaching with his free hand he pulled a thin bladed dagger driving its point into Valek's thigh. The roar of pain that erupted from the pirate was startling, non-human, that it shook even the seasoned undead before him, if but for a brief moment. But a moment to long, before he could recover. The essence within the assassin heard the brief sound of a object flying through the air, then the hard impact of a blade at the base of the neck. Spinning away from his collapsed target on the ground. Valek quickly retook his surroundings. The blade of the Kryss spiked through the undeads skull and had come from Paytience. Though he was injured Valek was still annoyed that she had taken out his kill. The clash of assassins, murderous though it might be, was just what he needed. A good fight focused him. And at this moment he craved that battle focus.

Valek was tempted to change his mind about the holistic benefits of combat as a volley of fireballs erupted down at them from the roof. One clipped his arm singing deep into the skin. Another burned itself in his shoulder. For the second time that night he howled a rage of pain.

Paytience reacted to this new attack quickly. Pushing off from the side of the table on the balcony with one foot, she threw herself out into the room behind and slid on her back across the section of stone floor.

As Paytience rolled behind a wall to find a new weapon. He leaped up the wall from outside, hitting one of the bone magi with full force. Knocking the skeletal mage to the ground he proceeded to rip into the undead with the curve of the cutlass until into was a pile of bones. He was pissed now and wanted a target...

Game Balance Changes

Focus Skill Spec (PVP)

Increase of spell damage increase cap from 15% to 30% (Reduced from TC 40%) for templates that focus in only one spell school. Focused players, having no more than 30.0 modified skill points in another main skill set will be able to benefit from the raised cap.Main skills include: Magery, Necromancy, Mysticism, Ninjitsu, Bushido, Animal Taming, Musicianship, Chivary, Spellweaving.  Secondary skills also count towards focus spec such as: Focus, Spirit Speak, Imbuing, and Evaluate Intelligence.

Poisoning

A few tweaks to Poison and Poisoning Skill. Poisoning skill now grants a small measure of resistance to being poisoned. When poison is cured by any means except potions, the target receives a temporary resistance which is similar to, but less effective than the natural resistance granted by the poisoning skill.

Spells:

• Poison (Magery): Players with greater than GM Poisoning and GM Magery will have a 10% chance to inflict lethal poison at distance of less than 3 tiles. Poison strength now reduces with range instead of dropping to 1 at ranges 3 or greater.

• Poison Strike (Necromancy) : Necromancers with greater than 60 poisoning skill will have a 3% to 9% chance  (Scales with poison skill) to poison their target.

Healing Skill

• For healers with 80 skill or greater in healing and anatomy, at half the Heal Duration for self heals, healing will attempt to remove poison and bleed effects. This will reduce the amount healed when the heal is finished its normal duration.
• Max Heal Duration Reduced to 8 seconds.
• Slip Damage Now Scales based on Dexterity
• **Faction Bandages do not require the healing skill and so function using the old healing methods.

Cure Potions

• Success chance for curing poison with cure potions has been adjusted.

Cleansing Winds

• Should no longer heal target after removing mortal wound.

Enchanted Apples

• Cooldown Increased to 30
• They now have a chance to fail depending on the level and number of curses applied to the user.
• Failure does not invoke the cooldown period.

Petals/Poison Immunity

• Deadly poison and stronger now have a 25% chance to break the poison immunity granted by orange petals.

Special Moves

Lightning Strike

• Mana Cost raised from 5 to 10.

Dual Wield

• A successful Dual Wield attack will give the player a chance to execute an extra attack at reduced damage for a short duration. Players can execute additional dual wield specials during the initial effect to provide a very slight buff to the duration and an increased chance to execute extra attacks.
• Duration of the dual wield effect scales with Ninjitsu skill above 70. Extra attacks are commited at 60% damage of a regular attack and CAN cause additional weapon effects.
• Executing additional Dual Wield strikes  while already under the dual wield effect will extend the duration by 2 seconds and increase the chance by 15%.
• The effect can be stacked up to 2 additional times.

Defensive Mastery

• Defensive mastery will now provide an increase to physical resistance which can exceed the 70% resist cap. The increase scales with Bushido/Ninjitsu and Parry skills. Damage Penalty now Scales between 60 -10% with Bushido/Necro. Increased duration to 5 seconds.

Block

• On executing a successful block, players will receive a bonus to their defense chance which scales with their Ninjitsu or Bushido skill for a short duration. Players will also receive a temporary penalty to their hit chance and damage. While under the block effect,  the next damage the player receives will be severely reduced. (Damage reduction scales with parry skill above 70)

Psychic Attack

• A successful psychic will now afflict the target with a 15% Mana Cost Penalty, and a 15% Spell Damage Penalty. This can be stacked one additional time, but does not offer an increase in duration.

Force Arrow

• This attack now provides a 20% Damage increase. Additionally it will reduce the target’s DCI by 10%. This attack can also be stacked multiple times for a further DCI reduction of 5% per stack and 2 second duration increase.
• The Dazed effect, will now provide a GUARANTEED spell interrupt. Even if the target is under the effect of Protection.
• Once this effect wears off, it cannot be re-applied for 10 Seconds.

Chivalry

• The way chivalry and abilities work has been revised so that the effects, and durations now place more emphasis on skill level rather than just karma.  In cases where Karma is evaluated, it will provide a modifier to the chivalry skill factor. This means that chivalry will provide a baseline for the power or duration of the effect and karma will either increase or decrease that baseline. In order to achieve the highest possible levels, both skill and karma will be required.

Divine Fury

• Bonus effects and stamina regeneration from divine fury now scale based on chivalry skill and karma.  Stamina regeneration from divine fury is no longer a full refreshment, but rather a set amount of stamina. Stamina factor increased to 4x duration (from 3x ). Chivalry Elder level and above receive reduction in the DCI penalty.

Cleanse By Fire

• Cure chance for poison has been updated.

Enemy of One

• Enemy of one has now been changed to a Spell Toggle. You can remove the effect before the duration expires by recasting the spell. (Recasting while the spell is in effect will cost 0 mana and 0 cast time)
• The Damage bonus will now Scale based on Chivalry Skill. Duration Will Scale with Chivalry and Karma

Remove Curse

• The difficulty of successfully removing curses now scales with the level and number of curses in effect in addition to factoring chivalry skill and karma.

Consecrate Weapon

• Consecrate Weapon no longer guarantees damage against a target’s weakest resist. Concecrate weapon now provides a scaling chance to do damage against the targets weakest resist type. At 90+ Chivalry, consecrate weapon will also offer a damage increase in addition to optimal damage type. Effect is now 100% Chance at 80 Chivalry. Scale is approximately 50% Chance at 50 Chivalry.

New Fishing Features

• Trophies have been added for the following fish:  kingfish, samurai fish, fire fish, Seeker Fish, giant koi, bull fish, stone fish, and lantern fish.
• Fish Oil: Fish oil recipe has been added to cooking.  Fish oil is created from fish steaks and when used on lanterns will make them stay lit for a very long time.  It can also be used to recharge the Oracle of the Sea (see below).
• Schools of Magical fish:  The Order of the Dragonfish has discovered that most magical fish travel in schools.  If you start catching a large number of magical fish in one area, it is likely you have found a school.  After several fish are caught from a school it will move a short distance away.  There is no known way to predict how to find these locations, you just have to get lucky and then pursue the school.
• Lava fishing items have been added to all lava locations
• Cracked Lava rocks: Players may use an axe on cracked lava rocks to see what is inside.

New Rewards for the fishing Quest

• Fish hooks are attached to fishing poles to give them special properties, double click the hook and then select the pole to use it
• Fish bait may be used together with fish hooks.
• Junk Proof Hooks: Using a junk proof hook will ensure you don’t catch shoes.
• Dredging Hook:  Using a dredging hook will increase the chance of pulling up things from the depths that are not fish.
• Lava Hook: This is replacing the lava fishing pole and has the same effect, the main difference is that hooks are stackable.
• Oracle of the Seas: This reward looks like a blue spyglass and is used to find charybdis.  Double click it to locate the monster.  The monster location is good for 1 day.  Locating the monster consumes a charge, fish oil can be used to bring the charges back.
• Charybdis bait: Can be used on a fishing pole.  When at a location identified by the Oracle of the Seas, fish using charybdis bait to start the encounter.  You may have to fish several times to get the charybdis to rise.
• Improved magical fish bait: The Order of the Dragonfish has discovered ways to improve fishbait for magical fish.  (technical note: the way fishbait works essentially is by giving you a certain number of rerolls when trying to catch certain fish, the improved fish bait is simply giving you more rerolls)

New Sea Encounter

• Charybdis:  This is a new sea encounter that requires special items from the fishing quest to start.  Warning: the Charybdis is a dangerous monster and you should only provoke it when you have 2 or 3 friends to help and a fast ship in case things go south!

Bug Fixes

Fixed the issue that stopped players from stealing from monsters

• Fixed an issue with Tinkering, the correct ingots will now be used.
• Archery and Throwing will not stop at 25 skill points now when using the Advanced Training Dummy, they will train to the cap of 60 points.
• Fixed an issue where certain power scrolls were becoming cursed when bound in a scroll binder.
• Archery will no longer drop on Gargoyle jewelry nor will you be able to imbue it into any gargoyle items.
• Stygian Dragon will no longer teleport the player to him but he will teleport to the player to try to fix some reported issues of being stuck.
• You can no longer hand the Solen Matriarch a second seed while your current quest is active.  You will now get a message she is busy.
• Fixed an issue related to stabling pets prior to death.
• Fixed the issue with The Tentacles of the Harrower spawning in areas out of the reach of players.
• All pets (not just bonded)  can now follow their masters thru a gate onto ships.
• Players can obtain Ophidian Loyality by killing Terathans
• Sound has been added to  Tinkering.
• Fixed an issue with the Weaving Friendships Quest,  should display correct text now.
• Added a new system message for cooking with flour, if the bag is not opened instead of getting the message You do not have the components needed to make that you will get a message stating you need to open a bag of flour.
• Using Poppy Dust on a Silver Sapling Seed was turning the seed into a plain unused seed, this will not longer happen.
• Fixed an issue with missing text in the Scraping the Bottom quest
• When using the Easter Basket you will no longer identify itself as a cornucopia.
• The Devourer of Souls will no longer spawn out of the reach of players.
• Fixed the issue with the flour mill placing the bags of flour under the house.

The small cell shook with the pounding feet of thousands of peasants in the stands above it. With every drop of blood spilled into the sands the crowd roared, the boards vibrated, and more sand and blood slipped through the cracks. The room was damp and crowded with beings, each bearing the same mark upon the left shoulder. Criminals, all. Murderers, rapists, thieves and enemies of the state. All here for one reason: To please the crowd now roaring above them.

The clamour, though muffled by the walls and sand between the men in the cell and the crowd, swelled to an almost intolerable level. This signified the end for one of their unfortunate comrades, and all those in the cell bowed their heads for the fallen soul. Some shook, some wept, and some remained stoic. However one, alone in the corner of the cell, smiled.

Though he sat in darkness, he was mostly visible, as the dim light given them by the torches just outside the cell reflected in his luminous skin. The pale entity was largely built, standing more then a head taller than most. He bears the distinctively pointed ears of an elf, though any who had used that word in reference to him had been taught the difference between elves and…Whatever he happened to be. A glint of pleasure shone in his blood red eyes as the brute remembered the lessons he had bestowed on those misguided individuals. Snow blond hair brushed the tops of his shoulders, flowing gently as his head swivelled to take in the fear now manifesting in his fellow cellmates. His body was all muscle and sinew, strong and unyielding, yet lean and agile. This being was built for this place that had been feared by all who came before him. Only those with a special taste for blood welcomed the arena, and the pale skinned creature had opened his arms and embraced it like no other. This bloodlust was cleverly masked by an almost angelic face. However, despite his welcoming visage, the others in the cell stayed very clear of him. Perhaps this distance was created out of respect, but, more than likely, it had been born of the fear instilled in them by the stories overheard by the guards posted above.

A voice now sounded, as the din of the people in the stands died down in order to hear the man now commanding their attention. The words mattered not to the pale skinned figure. Only the sound of metal against stone mattered as the guards approached the cell and called out.

“THANATOS”

Thanatos. God of death. An appropriate moniker for the beast now unfolding himself from the darkness, but one he despised. His skill in the art of killing was something he was most certainly proud of. However, the crowd had given him this nickname, and so his real name would be forgotten. Only the champion Thanatos would be remembered. Only this arena warrior responsible for the deaths of so many would hold a place in history. The thought angered him.

Fully upright now, Thanatos made his way to the doorway. He couldn’t help but smile at the grating sound of the key sliding into the padlock. He turned to the others, but none met his gaze. A quiet click, made comparable to the sound of an explosion by the utter silence now permeating the room, and the door opened. Thanatos stepped through the doorway and began to chuckle. The sound echoed down the hallway as the group rounded the corner. Once out of their sight, the prisoners left in the cell let go a collective sigh of relief, as each person believed that man to be their end at one point or another.

As they approached the gate to the arena’s floor, the guards accompanying Thanatos handed him his broadsword. Though it had been polished and sharpened, he could still see the faint outlines of bloodstains left upon the metal. The only trophies he was allowed to keep, and his smile returned.

The gate opened, and screams erupted from the stands. They called for this Thanatos, the creature they had named for his talent at being the last thing any man against him glimpsed before their meeting with their deity. Thanatos took a breath and blocked them out. He was not concerned with their interest in him. He refused to bother with the men who idolized him, or the women who lusted after him for his prowess in the arena. He cared only for the feeling of the cool metal in his hands, for the sand beneath his feet, and for the control over how long his opponents were allowed to live in his presence.

Sand crunched under his weight, and Thanatos walked to the center of the arena. Who would they pit against him this time? What unlucky fool would dare to think he could triumph over Thanatos?

The gladiator grimaced. He had referred to himself by his nickname. How could he have let his name in the arena take precedence over his real name? The thought disturbed him. It was time to leave this place. He had grown too complacent. The lie was beginning to take over.

As the horn bellowed, more gates opened, and three giants among men stepped out into the blistering sunlight. So, these were the unfortunate souls who’s blood would mix with the sand this day. Anticipation welled inside him. His grip on his sword tightened and relaxed as he swung the sword around in a circle, loosening the muscles in his wrist and forearm for the coming slaughter.

They had circled him now, as Thanatos waited in the center of the arena. Calm and quiet, eyes half shut against the blinding light of day. He could hear the voice of the announcer, a dull sound in the back of his mind. Only one word could set him free.

“BEGIN!”

...Inez the barkeep was cleaning up after a paticularly busy and rowdy evening at the Modest Damsel, a tavern at the docks of New Maginica. She had only been working there a few days. Her true intent or origin, no one knew.

She approached the small area under the stairs with a broom to sweep out the cobwebs that had begun to accumulate. In the corner she noticed the shape of a small cat, shivering in a corner, hiding from the clammer of the tavern in the background.

As she approached the cat hissed and backed farther into the corner. As soon as she reached out her hand, the cat began to shimmer into that of a man in brown robes. The robes hid his face, but there was no mistaking the glow in the hooded man's eyes. He had a bow and quiver access his back, but the many daggers strapped across his chest and the belt of shurikins around his waste drippping with poisons, left little doubt that this was an assassin you didn't want to upset.

Faster than she cound see, he pulled out one of his poisoned daggers and grabbed her by throat...

Network Maintenance for EU Servers

Update 1:30am CEST: Our ISP just informed us that the downtime needs to be extended and that additional outages might follow. The servers might be unavailable until the end of the planned window at 6:00am CEST.

The Internet Service Provider of our European Data Center will carry out a network maintenance on Thursday, 14th of July. During the maintenance the shards Europa and Drachenfels will be unavailable for login or characters transfer.
The outage is supposed to last no longer than 60 minutes and will happen in the window from 0:00 am CEST to 6:00 am CEST.

Announcing the first ever fowl fighting contest. Lake Superior will be host to the BOCK event (Battle Of the ChicKens) on Saturday 30th July between Roscoe and the Faerie King.

Following a disagreement, both of the above parties will settle their differences at the Luna soccer stadium using only Battle Chickens. The contest is expected to draw a crowd of eager supporters and betting on the outcome has already begun after the Faerie King and Roscoe backed their respective pets to the tune of five million gold each. Apart from the obvious loss of finance, the loser will also suffer the additional shame of being chased around Luna bank wearing just their underpants.

Further bouts are planned in the build up to the main contest and details will follow as they develop. To enter your own chicken (so to speak..) please contact either Roscoe or the Faerie King in the first instance. Additionally, it would be most welcome if someone can loan Roscoe some pants as it's only the stubborn under-stains that are holding his current pair together..

Last night was a deadly night in the land of Great Lakes. It was the evening that The Royal Guard and friends confronted the Reborn Zog.

I arrived early at the Warrior's Guild in Britain and chatted with a few folks table side. It was not long before the second floor of the Guild was teeming with humans and races of all kind.



Gwendolen Kincade arrived taking her place at the head of the table ( kindly asking the person sitting in her seat to remove himself ).
Gwendolen got right down to business informing the crowd that the Royal Spies have passed on reports that Followers of Armageddon plan to attack a city, a peaceful Ilshenar City.
She also warned sometimes people are more devoted to thier criminal plans than their own lives. This caused shivers down my spin as I looked around the room noting some of these folks looked rather sinister. Then Gwendolen opened a magical teal portal to the city in attack and to my shock is was the very location that my wedding took place so many years ago to Kuan Ti. It saddened me to see this regal city in peril.



Zog Reborn appeared to laugh at the crowd as he knew of the doom to come to these brave warriors and mages.







The attack started outside the city then slowly moved to the inner parts of the city.

Blackrock infected creatures, Claws of the Void and Wings of the Void were but a few of the ungodly that attacked and killed so many.





Once all the spawn was killed or what was thought to be all, the survivors gathered around a very odd evil dark tower at the inner most part of the city. Then to the shock and joy of some the meanest of all, Void Weavers appeared taking more tolls but were killed after much hard work. The Royal Guard and friends defeated this attack and the evil tower slowly collapsed as we all looked on.









WE ALL HELPED DEFEND A CITY OF NOBLE ARTISANS AND THAT WAS A GOOD DAY !

Corporal Brackus stopped in today. It was very strange, he seemed not himself at all. But orders are orders. Pursuint to the new orders I have received, I will be meeting the other recruits chosen for this exercise down at the docks.

I can't say I understand, but again, orders are orders. If only I could figure out what it is about the Corporal that's bothering me. I know one thing, he never looked so suspicious of everything before. Flabbergasted is more the word.

I was about to leave when I figured it out. I found this letter detailing a plan to replace the Corporal in his absence and order all of us to our deaths. I have to warn the others at the dock, before they fall for whatever plot this is.

   “My Queen, I have finished translating the list of the remaining components, as you requested.”
Zhah stood from her desk and nodded in greeting to Prugyilonus, the High Scholar. 
   “That is excellent news.”
Zhah gently unrolled the scroll the scholar placed in her hand, perusing the list it contained.
   “Dream Serpent scales, Hair of a Dryad Queen, Soulbinder’s Tears, a Pristine Crystal Lotus, and the Heart of a Night Terror? And here I was hoping the last components might not be as difficult to obtain, given our lack of time.”
   “Aye, indeed. However, I have taken the liberty of documenting the location of each of the creatures for you.”
Prugyilonus handed the queen another scroll.  She opened it and was surprised to see comprehensive notes detailing where each of the creatures could be found. Zhah was pleased to see that all of the creatures, with the exception of the Dryad Queen, were able to be found within the confines of Ter Mur itself. The former High Scholar had even noted their locations on a map of the kingdom.
   “I will set out first thing in the morning after these.” Zhah said, rolling the scrolls up and placing them in her bag.
Prugyilonus smiled, shaking his head. 
   “No, my Queen, I do think not. You must rest so we may begin the preparations for breaking the spell.”
Zhah scowled at him.
   “Breaking the spell? What do you mean?”
   “We cannot sit by and wait for the spell to deteriorate, Queen Zhah. As soon as we have the final components, you must bring down the stasis spell yourself and conduct the ritual immediately. If you break the spell, the suddenness will cripple the Defiler; and you can use that to your advantage.”
   “And if I am to rest, who will obtain the components? Surely not you.”
   “No, but I think it is time you relied more on your people and your allies.  Over the past thousand years, I have watched you grow into a strong and powerful queen, yet there is one lesson you have never taken to heart: you do not have to shoulder the burden of the Void alone. All of us will stand by you, if you would but let us.”
Zhah opened her mouth to speak but closed it.  Sighing, she nodded her head. 
   “As always, there is wisdom in your words. Fine, old friend, I shall leave the arrangements in your hands.”
Prugyilonus nodded.
   “I shall not disappoint, my Queen. In the meantime, I advise you to get some rest.”
   “Indeed. Oh, and Prugyilonus?”
The scholar, who had turned to leave, faced Zhah once more.
   “Yes?”
Zhah smiled a hint of mischief in her eyes.
   “Since you are so good at giving advice, I hope you enjoy your new position as my First Advisor.”
Prugyilonus laughed. 
   “Well played, my Lady. It will be my honor to serve you.”

Game Balance Changes

Focus Skill Spec (PVP)

Increase of spell damage increase cap from 15% to 30% (Reduced from TC 40%) for templates that focus in only one spell school. Focused players, having no more than 30.0 modified skill points in another main skill set will be able to benefit from the raised cap.Main skills include: Magery, Necromancy, Mysticism, Ninjitsu, Bushido, Animal Taming, Musicianship, Chivary, Spellweaving.

Poisoning:

A few tweaks to Poison and Poisoning Skill. Poisoning skill now grants a small measure of resistance to being poisoned. When poison is cured by any means except potions, the target receives a temporary resistance which is similar to, but less effective than the natural resistance granted by the poisoning skill.

Spells:

• Poison (Magery): Players with greater than GM Poisoning and GM Magery will have a 10% chance to inflict lethal poison at distance of less than 3 tiles. Poison strength now reduces with range instead of dropping to 1 at ranges 3 or greater.

• Poison Strike (Necromancy) : Necromancers with greater than 60 poisoning skill will have a 3% to 9% chance  (Scales with poison skill) to poison their target.

Healing Skill

• For healers with 80 skill or greater in healing and anatomy, at half the Heal Duration for self heals, healing will attempt to remove poison and bleed effects. This will reduce the amount healed when the heal is finished its normal duration.
• Max Heal Duration Reduced to 8 seconds.
• Slip Damage Now Scales based on Dexterity
• **Faction Bandages do not require the healing skill and so function using the old healing methods.

Cure Potions:

                Success chance for curing poison with cure potions has been adjusted.

Cleansing Winds:

Should no longer heal target after removing mortal wound.

Enchanted Apples:

Cooldown Increased to 30
They now have a chance to fail depending on the level and number of curses applied to the user.
Failure does not invoke the cooldown period.

Petals/Poison Immunity:

Deadly poison and stronger now have a 25% chance to break the poison immunity granted by orange petals.

SPECIAL MOVES:

Lightning Strike

Mana Cost raised from 5 to 10.

Dual Wield

• A successful Dual Wield attack will give the player a chance to execute an extra attack at reduced damage for a short duration. Players can execute additional dual wield specials during the initial effect to provide a very slight buff to the duration and an increased chance to execute extra attacks.
• Duration of the dual wield effect scales with Ninjitsu skill above 70. Extra attacks are commited at 60% damage of a regular attack and CAN cause additional weapon effects.
• Executing additional Dual Wield strikes  while already under the dual wield effect will extend the duration by 2 seconds and increase the chance by 15%.
• The effect can be stacked up to 2 additional times.

Defensive Mastery:

• Defensive mastery will now provide an increase to physical resistance which can exceed the 70% resist cap. The increase scales with Bushido/Ninjitsu and Parry skills. Damage Penalty now Scales between 60 -10% with Bushido/Necro. Increased duration to 5 seconds.  

Block:

• On executing a successful block, players will receive a bonus to their defense chance which scales with their Ninjitsu or Bushido skill for a short duration. Players will also receive a temporary penalty to their hit chance and damage. While under the block effect,  the next damage the player receives will be severely reduced. (Damage reduction scales with parry skill above 70)

Psychic Attack:

• A successful psychic will now afflict the target with a 15% Mana Cost Penalty, and a 15% Spell Damage Penalty. This can be stacked one additional time, but does not offer an increase in duration.

Force Arrow:

• This attack now provides a 20% Damage increase. Additionally it will reduce the target’s DCI by 10%. This attack can also be stacked multiple times for a further DCI reduction of 5% per stack and 2 second duration increase.
• The Dazed effect, will now provide a GUARANTEED spell interrupt. Even if the target is under the effect of Protection.
• Once this effect wears off, it cannot be re-applied for 10 Seconds.

CHIVALRY

• The way chivalry and abilities work has been revised so that the effects, and durations now place more emphasis on skill level rather than just karma.  In cases where Karma is evaluated, it will provide a modifier to the chivalry skill factor. This means that chivalry will provide a baseline for the power or duration of the effect and karma will either increase or decrease that baseline. In order to achieve the highest possible levels, both skill and karma will be required.

Divine Fury:

• Bonus effects and stamina regeneration from divine fury now scale based on chivalry skill and karma.  Stamina regeneration from divine fury is no longer a full refreshment, but rather a set amount of stamina. Stamina factor increased to 4x duration (from 3x ). Chivalry Elder level and above receive reduction in the DCI penalty.

Cleanse By Fire:

• Cure chance for poison has been updated.

Enemy of One

• Enemy of one has now been changed to a Spell Toggle. You can remove the effect before the duration expires by recasting the spell. (Recasting while the spell is in effect will cost 0 mana and 0 cast time)
• The Damage bonus will now Scale based on Chivalry Skill. Duration Will Scale with Chivalry and Karma

Remove Curse

• The difficulty of successfully removing curses now scales with the level and number of curses in effect in addition to factoring chivalry skill and karma.

Consecrate Weapon

• Consecrate Weapon no longer guarantees damage against a target’s weakest resist. Concecrate weapon now provides a scaling chance to do damage against the targets weakest resist type. At 90+ Chivalry, consecrate weapon will also offer a damage increase in addition to optimal damage type. Effect is now 100% Chance at 80 Chivalry. Scale is approximately 50% Chance at 50 Chivalry.

New Fishing Features

Trophies have been added for the following fish:  kingfish, samurai fish, fire fish, Seeker Fish, giant koi, bull fish, stone fish, and lantern fish.

Fish Oil: Fish oil recipe has been added to cooking.  Fish oil is created from fish steaks and when used on lanterns will make them stay lit for a very long time.  It can also be used to recharge the Oracle of the Sea (see below).

Schools of Magical fish: The Order of the Dragonfish has discovered that most magical fish travel in schools. If you start catching a large number of magical fish in one area, it is likely you have found a school.  After several fish are caught from a school it will move a short distance away.  There is no known way to predict how to find these locations, you just have to get lucky and then pursue the school.

Lava fishing items have been added to all lava locations

Cracked Lava rocks: Players may use an axe on cracked lava rocks to see what is inside.

New Rewards for the Fishing Quest

Fish hooks are attached to fishing poles to give them special properties, double click the hook and then select the pole to use it

Fish bait may be used together with fish hooks.

Junk Proof Hooks: Using a junk proof hook will ensure you don’t catch shoes.

Dredging Hook:  Using a dredging hook will increase the chance of pulling up things from the depths that are not fish.

Lava Hook: This is replacing the lava fishing pole and has the same effect, the main difference is that hooks are stackable.

Oracle of the Seas: This reward looks like a blue spyglass and is used to find charybdis.  Double click it to locate the monster.  The monster location is good for 1 day.  Locating the monster consumes a charge, fish oil can be used to bring the charges back.

Charybdis bait: Can be used on a fishing pole.  When at a location identified by the Oracle of the Seas, fish using charybdis bait to start the encounter.  You may have to fish several times to get the charybdis to rise.

Improved magical fish bait: The Order of the Dragonfish has discovered ways to improve fishbait for magical fish.  (technical note: the way fishbait works essentially is by giving you a certain number of rerolls when trying to catch certain fish, the improved fish bait is simply giving you more rerolls)

New Sea Encounter

Charybdis: This is a new sea encounter that requires special items from the fishing quest to start.  Warning: the Charybdis is a dangerous monster and you should only provoke it when you have 2 or 3 friends to help and a fast ship in case things go south!

 

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the issue that stopped players from stealing from monsters
• Fixed an issue with Tinkering, the correct ingots will now be used.
• Archery and Throwing will not stop at 25 skill points now when using the Advanced Training Dummy, they will train to the cap of 60 points.
• Fixed an issue where certain power scrolls were becoming cursed when bound in a scroll binder.
• Archery will no longer drop on Gargoyle jewelry nor will you be able to imbue it into any gargoyle items.
• Stygian Dragon will no longer teleport the player to him but he will teleport to the player to try to fix some reported issues of being stuck.
• You can no longer hand the Solen Matriarch a second seed while your current quest is active.  You will now get a message she is busy.
• Fixed an issue related to stabling pets prior to death.
• Fixed the issue with The Tentacles of the Harrower spawning in areas out of the reach of players.
• All pets (not just bonded)  can now follow their masters thru a gate onto ships.
• Players can obtain Ophidian Loyality by killing Terathans
• Sound has been added to  Tinkering.
• Fixed an issue with the Weaving Friendships Quest,  should display correct text now.
• Added a new system message for cooking with flour, if the bag is not opened instead of getting the message You do not have the components needed to make that you will get a message stating you need to open a bag of flour.
• Using Poppy Dust on a Silver Sapling Seed was turning the seed into a plain unused seed, this will not longer happen.
• Fixed an issue with missing text in the Scraping the Bottom quest
• When using the Easter Basket you will no longer identify itself as a cornucopia.
• The Devourer of Souls will no longer spawn out of the reach of players.
• Fixed the issue with the flour mill placing the bags of flour under the house.
• Fixed the levers in the Terathan Keep, doors should function properly now.
• Mana will no longer be consumed on Siege or Mugen when trying to use the Sacred Journey from a spell book.
• Parrots can now be placed on a perch on the Britiannian Ship
• Threads of Ether should now give the EC client the proper system messages when they are used or expired.
• You can no longer use Archery Special Moves without arrows.
• Nosferatu the Hellhound Treat Vendor has been removed
• Clainin’s Spellbook will no longer display spellchanneling.
• Pet Leather wolf golems will no longer be able to summon help.
• Putrefier now has a leash on it.
• Fixed an issue with placement of unmade beds
• The chance to get books from the fishing quest has been reduced.
• Fixed an issue that made it difficult to place addons on the second floor of a house.
• Resolved an issue with placing deeded house addons on the correct floor of the house.
• Fixed an issue allowing players to cast a spell without being frozen under certain conditions.
• Made the Magincia Bazaar vendors so you may customize and move them around in the stalls

New Patch and Publish for TC1

Greetings,

We update TC1 with a new publish today. Along with this comes a new mandatory client, please make sure to download it.

In the mean time we invite you to read the complete publish notes.

Several weeks ago Queen Zhah informed us that Athenaeum Isle was once again swarming with daemons. She demanded we slay the beasts and return to her any documents that may be found. As good subjects many of us have done just that. June's Obituary Column includes many of these brave poor souls. Enjoy !

Producer Holiday Update

Before everyone heads off to face Independence Day traffic, I wanted to give you all an update.

Our overall goal this year was to keep a healthy cadence of small to medium publishes, fleshing out our current in-world content, while also offering more exploration. Less fiction more in-game activity. Shorter story arcs, more replay ability … so with that, here is the update:

Currently, some PvP changes we held on to for a few months have made it to Test Center. We have already gotten some initial feedback from North American, European, and Japanese communities, and are adapting the feedback accordingly. There are a few changes, and in this case, we think change is good.

Next week (after we return) we will be posting patch notes and adding High Seas content. We have tested and evaluated a new sea encounter, as well as updated rewards and elements of the fishing quests.

In addition, in the next several weeks, we’ll be adding client crash fixes, publishing the second phase of the current live story Ter Mur, and releasing a healthy dose of gameplay bug fixes.

We decide to split all of our content into two separate publishes. After July expect to see the following:

·        Clean up Britannia (the update formerly known as Spring Cleaning) – We are currently testing and evaluating about 850 items with turn ins and rewards

·        Anniversary item additions

·        Art resolution updates to the Enhanced client

·        Veteran Rewards

None of this information should be new to those who have been following the boards and patch notes, but for those who are returning … and there has been a sizeable number of you … welcome back, and keep watching for updates.

Thanks to all of you have participated and taken the time to give us feedback on the latest in PvP changes … if you have not take a wander over and let us know what you think.

Finally, thanks to everyone who has participated in the Talents of Sosaria … for those who cannot draw or sculpt … if you have the inclination -- please submit any house decorations for the 4^th of July weekend to Mesanna.
