Into the belly of the beast...... Felucca Guild Spotlight - Riegn of Tyranny (RoT)
Posted on Monday, September 29, 2008, 2:09 PM EDT by Morpheus Mardox (Chesapeake)
In what I hope to become a regular occurance in the coming weeks, I figured the Chesapeake shard and it's growing PvP scene could use some well deserved light shed on its everyday activites and characters. After much deliberation on how to begin we recieved an invite to the Reign of Tyranny forums along our shard forums here. Luckily enough for us an invite was extended to our news staff to travel to Felucca and check out the current PvP scene here on the shard along with the (RoT) guild itself. My journey began with first contact with Mr. Moostache, the guilds leader. He advised me to be at the ready as he and his troops had recently dispatched some foes in one of the many champion spawn areas throughout the facet. "They'd be happy to entertain a visit" he exclaimed and "bring a few of his men to meet and tell thier tale." What happened after was quite unexpected and entertaining indeed. I anxiously prepared my meager mage emptying him of anything I thought valuable *grins* and checking insurance to ensure my return to my home facet before answering the call to travel to the Jhelom moongate in Felucca. Waiting for me there upon my arrival was a moongate which cast me to the entrance of a large keep in a undisclosed location deep along the mountians. Cautiously I entered and shook off the instant chill that arose as I took in the room. Busy with activity, murderers and other less than savory characters bustled about the main hall of the keep depositing powerscrolls and other freshly looted items into the many chests that circled the room. It didnt take long to be noticed. Once alerted to the unknown presence, the entire room circled around me snapping to attention. From amongst the crowd came a hearty "Welcome". I searched the faces to find Mr. Moostache ushering me inside. I stepped into the gaze of the many and was welcomed by one of the guild as the bit trigger happy member let loose fires from the heavens striking me down in what seemed like an instant. Angrily Moostache and the others scolded the assailant as they resurected me assuring them I was there for peaceful guild business. "Whats a trip to fel without one death" I thought as I stood and readied myself to speak. After explaining my intentions for visiting, I began to speak with the players of (RoT) about the shards activity in PvP and those who make Felucca thier home. Thier description of the current guilds considered foes by the guild was "weak." They proceeded to explain a bit of the power struggles of the Felucca facet and current alignments. The (RoT) guild itself is by far the largest on the shard with 177 members second only to the (RBG) here on Chesapeake. It's lone alliance is with (HofT) or "The Hand of Tyranny." Consisting of 17 members. These characters of all types are at this point controlling the majority of the action in and around the facet. Players spend thier evenings patrolling champion spawn locations along with the Yew moongate in Felucca hoping to find an evenings battle amongst thier adversaries or simply lying in wait for the call to battle as they've been alerted to the prescence of another party in one of the forementioned locations. Inquiring about becoming a member to this large group of combatants I was told that entrance was by far no easy task as many of these players have played together for years on end. Some from the various guilds of the past and present such as Champs or PWNI and others recruited by veteran members well trusted by thier leader. With any guild they too experience pains and stumbling blocks as I was treated to a example as the guild realized a thief was among them during our closing remarks. The character known as Relentless was apparently caught "red handed" in an attempt to commit theft from the previous runs spoils and was quickly ushered outside and executed by the group banishing him from the guild. "We do not take matters such as this lightly" Moostache explained as we continued to speak. After gathering all the information I could about the guilds and its members we struck a bit luck as reports came in of a rival guild they described as the "Alliance" attempting to raise a champion spawn in the depths of the dungeon Despise. Anxiously I agreed to accompany them as they set forth to raid thier foes. Guildmembers gathered and soon after we were wisked away to the island of Serpents Hold where along the northwest shores an entrance can be found to what I now know as Fire dungeon. The party ushered in and around the dim light dungeon to a building guarded by evil mage lords where a pause ensued to encircle thier forces. We entered a teleporter of sparkling light and found ourselves inside the champion spawn area, home to the Barracoon. As if guided the group was guided by one they quickly dispersed scouting the area as I did my best to keep up and dodge the many evil beasts that roamed the caverns. It was not long before the group found its mark... As you can see here the character Tool met his demise along with myself in the densely populated battleground as the raiding party overran the perhaps unsuspecting spawn goers. Easily the group assumed command of the area and defeated the Barracoon en route to a decisive victory. The party enter yet another moongate upon the falling of the Barracoon, this gate as black as night itself, transported the group to what is commonly know as the "Star Room." With blood of thier rivals still warm upon thier weapons Moostache offered this to me after securing the victory. " In honor of your visit this eve we've decided on a special trip!" I thought to myself, " what could be next?" as he explained they would be summoning the "Harrower." The "Harrower" is a beast of great strength who disperses into mutliple forms of life during the duration of combat and along with massive piles of gold the beast awards the sought after crown jewels of the facet in stat scrolls of varying effectiveness from +5 to +25. The ritual had begun to gain entrance to the random dungeon appearance of this magnificent creation of the depths. Upon placing the skulls of the six champions of the realm on the marble layed alter, yet another black gate appeared before us. "Here we go again" I murmured as I entered... The group found themselves in the second level, the outer palasades if you will of the Terethean Keep. Eight legged monstrosities clammering about the area stunned by the appearance of the group which quickly ended any resistance either the Terethean or Ophidian inhabitants could summon. I made my way down the ladder to come face to face with the hooded master know as the "Harrower." Taking command Moostache quickly saved this reporters bacon as he burst into spell garnering the beasts attention luring him deeper into the catacombs of the keep. There the group set up shop not only to battle the beast but ward off any unwanted visitors. It wasnt long before one poor soul scouting the area met harsh, swift judgement at the hands of the Reign of Tyranny. Setting up shop, the group with ease battled the "Harrower" as it fell not once, not twice, but three seperate times changing forms at each death all the while managing to defend the peremiter from the raiding parties of the "Alliance." Members from the (X), (SWAT), and (!C!) guilds battled valiently but to no accord as the Riegn of Tyranny crushed its resistance. "Hurry" the proud members yelled as they wanted me to witness to carnage that was the battle as you can see from my shots... Impressed as I stood there amongst the gold, smoking corpses, and still wandering beasts of the keep's catacombs I was told that not only was the impromptu run a grand success the guild had also sent a second group back to Despise to conquer another attempt by the rival "Alliance" guilds which also was a resounding victory. We gathered once again at the Guild Keep of (RoT) to discuss the nights ongoings. We discussed the nights fun as they educated me on the often slow misunderstood realm that is the Felucca facet. They described how not only they but the other guilds of the realm hoped more would soon venture forth to thier lands and join the fight. The leader see's no real fearful enemy as they continue to run rampant over any venture they choose. The guild combined the nights bounty to show me a little taste of what a good night can entail there. What was numerous +25 scrolls along with the lesser and other skill scrolls collected over the nights fun the group bestowed upon me a +25 along with 4 other scrolls of skill thanking me for my visit. Jokingly I proclaimed that they were not the deamons the lands portayed them as and thanked them for a most intriguing evening of events. I assured them I would be visiting the guilds of the "alliance" and to look for me on the other side of those defenses in the coming days and weeks. A grand "thank you" to the gentlemen of (RoT) as we all appreciate a look into the belly of the beast!
