Player Interviews
Great Lakes - Player Interviews - Grace and Stratford

Where are they now and what are they doing?

About seven months ago I sought out brand new players as guests for Lady Lava's Questionnaire as I have always thought new players are the future of UO.

To my surprise a handful of players commented that I was wasting my time interviewing new players as they have nothing to offer. To tell you the truth I was shocked by these replies.

On the whole most players enjoyed reading about new players, the excitement they felt and mistakes they made. It made many vet players reminisce of the days when they too were young.

As promised to my readers I said I would revisit two of these young players six months later and here we are.

Grace is first and here is an update.

What has changed in the past six months since your were a guest on LLQ?
Many things have changed, way too many to mention. But I will say this, I am "Lady".

How did you become Lady?
Mainly by killing Ogre Lords.

Do you still have the same small house you were given as a newb?
There are some really generous players on Great Lakes. I have been given another house and it is larger. It amazes me how kind people are.

What do you like most about your new house?
It's a larger place to decorate and I have been practicing my design skills. Plus I pick up everything and I need the storage, lol.

Have you created any new characters?
Yes, a bard and a tailor, neither are fully developed.

I saw you at the East Meets West Fashion Show in Luna a while back. How did you hear of this event?
I read Stratics all the time plus friends were talking about it.

In you original Questionnaire you made our readers aware of your love ( obsession ) with cows in rl. Do you still love cows?
My game house is called " Mooville " and I own three cow statues. Does that answer your question? lol

Have you been collecting the relics in Tokuno?
No, I have been to the new lands only a few times. Everytime I go there I die right away.

What goals have you set for yourself for the next six months?
GM tailoring and GM barding and continue to develop Grace. She is a pally/swords. GM in swords but only 80 in pally.

Stratford is our second young player revisited.

Have you created any new characters since you were a guest on Lady Lava's Questionnaire?
I have created only one more character so far. His name is Hudson and he is a Mage, as is Stratford. However he is also an archer with lumberjacking and bowcrafting skills. He still has a long way to go before he is a great archer though. I am thinking that my next character will be a tamer.

On one occasion I saw you fighting the Invasion in Brit. Do you do it often?
I feel a real sense of patriotism in defending Britain from the invasion, and it has made me interact more with other players. There is a comraderie amongst the people fighting back the evil forces and so it is more enjoyable than hunting or fighting alone. I feel that it is my duty to spend some time fighting in Brit every day.

I stopped by your new home last week. It is large and jam packed with items. Do you have any lockdowns left, lol?
I do have a decent size home and I am very proud of it! Stratford is the shop-o-holic, not me, and yes there are a few lockdowns left. While I certainly don't rule out the possibility of a larger home in the future, I think I will be happy here for quite some time to come.

What have you learned in your first six months playing UO?
Six months playing and I can't believe how much I have learned in that time! I have to say that I enjoy the multitude of activities that are available here. If I get bored doing one activity, I just go and do something somewhere else. I have also had a lot of fun with the Invasion!

If you could do one thing over what would it be?
I feel no regret in UO as in real life. Everything happens for a reason!

What goals have you set for yourself for the next six months?
To have fun as I have had in the first six months!

Thank you Grace and Stratford for taking the time to talk with me again and much happiness to you both in your gaming adventures.
