Alton - Good evening and welcome to Ultima Online Celebrity Chat. UOCC is a forum wherein we bring to you celebrity guests from the UO community, ranging from website administrators, OSI personnel, counselors, seers, and even roleplayers and PKs from your own shard! They drop by to answer your questions about UO, their experiences in it, and about their own contribution to the community.
Alton - Our system is similar to the UOHOC chats. All you have to do is /msg a designated question taker with your question or comment. However, when it is your turn, rather then a moderator pasting your question in the chat, instead we set +voice to you and allow you to talk with the celebrity guest yourself!
Alton - We ask that you please keep your questions on topic. Our guests are not on the DEV team and cannot answer when necromancy is going to be released. Also, this is not a forum for debates...if a particular thread goes on we may ask you to put it off until after the chat has ended.
Alton - Our question takers tonight will be... Romeo, XenaDragon, CJ.
Alton - I'd just say, our guests tonights are a team of seers. Guys, why don't you tell us a bit about yourselves
Seer_Atlantic - Hi all
Seer_Atlantic - Hard to talk about yourself anonymously. :)
Seer_Atlantic - I've been a Seer on Atlantic for 1.5 years or so
Seer_Baja - 'Ello
Seer_Baja - AS you can see I'm from the land of Baja. I've been with the program for about a year or so.
Seer_Catskills - Hello..
Seer_Catskills - As you might expect, I'm from Catskills :-). It will be 2 years I'm with the program in december.. or maybe january
Seer_Catskills - I was a counselor for about 3 months before that. I have no life *sighs*
Seer_Chesapeake - Hello everyone. I've been a seer on chessie for almost a year now. Im looking forward to answering your question tonight
Seer_LakeSuperior - Hello, everyone. I'm from Lake Superior, as if this wasn't too obvious, and I've been addicted to the interest program since last December. Next... :)
Seer_Sonoma - HUwwo. I am Elmer J. Fudd, miwwionaiwe. I own a mansiown and a yacht.
Seer_Sonoma - No, serously
Seer_Sonoma - Hail and well met -- Sonoma here; been with program since just before last Christmas.
Alton - And lets begin with the questions.
weazel - sorry
Seer_Atlantic - Hiya Weazel
weazel - will you be getting the average uo player more involved in quests?
Seer_Atlantic - Well, the only way to get the "average" player involved in more quests is by providing more, which we intend to do
* weazel * nods
weazel - okay thanks
Seer_Atlantic - That was easy. :)
* Seer_Atlantic waves to Weazel *
Lucas - Hi seers :)
Lucas - I would like to know..what's the current state of the new seer program..
Lucas - and what else can you say about its official beginning
Seer_Baja - Currently we are in the process of increasing the number of active interest volunteers. This should drematicly increase the number of events per shard.
LD^Smythe - Is it the focus of the seer's duties to create quests, or assist in Player-created quests?
Seer_Catskills - Howdy
Seer_Catskills - Our primary focus is to create fiction
LD^Smythe - ... and hello :)
Seer_Catskills - But we know that there's a lot of players out there with good ideas, and try not to overlook them
Seer_Catskills - So, we also assist with player quests if they are open to all and consistent with UO fiction
LD^Smythe - How can one keep from being 'overlooked'? (or: how do you tell a Seer your good idea)
Seer_Catskills - Given the number of players, it's a bit hard for us to get back to everybody..
Seer_Catskills - We get mail forwarded from everywhere, and we try to hunt in known RP areas
LD^Smythe - Would some sort of votable-messageboard be useful?
Seer_Atlantic - Hunt?
* Seer_Atlantic stalks a player *
Seer_Sonoma - One thing you can do is be visible and active on your shard.
Seer_Catskills - What do you mean?
LD^Smythe - Similar to the ideas boards, where folks can make the popular ideas known by voting.
LD^Smythe - With the originator being able to be contacted by a seer, if its decided to be consistent, etc.
Seer_Sonoma - Most of us read our shard-specific messageboards even now.
* Seer_Catskills nods *
LD^Smythe - ok, thanks.
Seer_LakeSuperior - Quite a bit, actually :)
Seer_Catskills - 'twas a pleasure
Seer_Sonoma - every 20 minutes in my case :)
Arsk - Hail all, specially you Lake Superior ones!
Seer_Chesapeake - Hello
* Seer_LakeSuperior waves! *
* Seer_Atlantic waves *
Seer_LakeSuperior - I'm not plural at the moment, it's okay.
Arsk - I was wondering what advise you have for anyone interested in trying to make the Seer cut some day, with OSI wanting more Seers soon...
* Arsk laughs *
Seer_Chesapeake - Well we are in the process of trying to make that process easier
Arsk - how so?
Seer_Chesapeake - In the past the process has pretty much relied on seers scouting the shards for players that are active in RPing and creating quests
Seer_Chesapeake - but it is just too easy to miss good people this way
Arsk - but it is changing?
Seer_Chesapeake - Yes we are in the process of revamping the process
Seer_Sonoma - Specifically you can work on your writing chops, and focus yourself on things that better the ENTIRE community...
Arsk - chops?
Arsk - what sort of things would you suggest to better the community?
Seer_Sonoma - "range and voice"?
Arsk - ah
Seer_Chesapeake - In order to make the process more available the recruiting process will be changing to an open application
Seer_Sonoma - And what I meant by that was looking beyond your OWN group....working to support OTHER's play
Seer_Sonoma - that's what we do :)
Arsk - thats what I try to do
* Arsk smiles *
Seer_Chesapeake - thanks for the questions Arsk
Seer_LakeSuperior - Hail, Morvan!
C_Morvan_Xylon - Hail!
C_Morvan_Xylon - Can you tell us anything about the "new Elder/Seer program"
C_Morvan_Xylon - which LadyMOI mentioned?
C_Morvan_Xylon - Is there a new "Elder Seer" position being created?
Seer_Catskills - You mean Durga?
Seer_Catskills - Or maybe it was MOI
Rainman - MOI
C_Morvan_Xylon - LadyMOI said it in her UOCC
Seer_LakeSuperior - Elders and Seers focus on two different things. Elders will be doing quick events and skill related persuits geared towards newer players.
Seer_LakeSuperior - Seers will be focused more on events and plots with fiction.
Seer_LakeSuperior - That help? :)
Seer_Sonoma - So its not "elder seers" -- they're two different gigs :)
* Seer_LakeSuperior nods to Sonoma. *
C_Morvan_Xylon - Are they the same or different from Counselor Elders?
Seer_Catskills - Yes, Elders moved from Support into Interest
Seer_Chesapeake - and their role has changed
Seer_Catskills - They are no longer called "Counselor Elders", and their definition changed somewhat
Seer_Atlantic - You'll see them sporting new brown robes instead of the black ones
C_Morvan_Xylon - Thank you. One more thing...
* Seer_Catskills nods *
C_Morvan_Xylon - Why are you all anonymous?
Seer_LakeSuperior - We're shy.
Seer_Sonoma - Fear of reprisals!
* Seer_Atlantic smiles *
C_Morvan_Xylon - Er...
C_Morvan_Xylon - Ok
Seer_Sonoma - heh, JOKE!
* C_Morvan_Xylon smiles *
* Seer_LakeSuperior laughs. *
Seer_Chesapeake - We came in anonymous so we could speak out of character :)
C_Morvan_Xylon - Oh, I see
Seer_Chesapeake - and answers questions more specifically
Seer_LakeSuperior - Thanks Morvan!
Seer_Sonoma - and Hail Beans!
Beans - Hail all :)
* Beans bows *
* Seer_Atlantic waves to Beans *
* Beans waves to Atlantic :) *
* Seer_LakeSuperior waves to Beans! *
* Seer_Chesapeake waves *
* Beans feels popular :) *
Beans - my question...
Beans - As a reporter for UOSS, I know how active seers are on a variety of different shards, but most players complain about so-called "lack of activity." Can any of you go into some detail as to the different types of things you do on your shards... it will help lessen my email load ;)
Seer_Sonoma - Well, some detail sure, but we don't want to blow any upcoming plots...
Beans - no, no plots, no quests
* Beans smiles *
Seer_Sonoma - On Sonoma, for example, there are currently two major arcs going on...
Beans - the "other" things
Seer_Sonoma - one involving the Dread Mage Balart (who lives in the hedge maze)....
Seer_Sonoma - and another involving Ceridwen the historian who lives in Britain.
* Seer_Atlantic puts his hand over Sonoma's mouth *
Seer_Sonoma - Also there are the weekly horse races on Tuesday....
Seer_Sonoma - and Demosthena the sculptor should be opening hours again....
Seer_Sonoma - also there are prolly 3 or 4 minor characters running around doing things.
Seer_Sonoma - Does that help at all?
Seer_LakeSuperior - We also try to give support to player run venues and such on each of our shards. I can say Lake Superior has some excellent ones. :)
* Beans smiles proudly *
Seer_Atlantic - Each Seer has their own focus. Some like working with player venues, some with player events, some with their own events
Seer_Atlantic - We try to mix it up so all areas get covered as best we can
Seer_Chesapeake - The upcoming increase in the number of seers should help us cover all the bases and be more visible at the same time
Seer_LakeSuperior - And of course, we always love hearing about new things going on.
Seer_Sonoma - That answer you ok, Beans? Any followup?
Beans - nay, thankee... all of you do great work :)
Seer_Sonoma - Danke :)
* Beans bows and hands mike over to next victim ;) *
* Seer_LakeSuperior laughs. *
Seer_Catskills - Hello Ans!
Seer_Atlantic - Hiya Ans
Ans - Hello!
Ans - What exactly is the difference between IGMs and Seers?
* Seer_Chesapeake waves *
Seer_Atlantic - Ah, the first one is the paycheck
Ans - Aside from IGMs being payed...
Seer_Atlantic - heh
Seer_Atlantic - Well, IGMs are paid employees of OSI
Seer_Atlantic - IGM meaning Interest GM instead of the support GMs
Seer_Atlantic - Seers are volunteers similar in nature to the Counselors
Ans - Right, but as far as duties
Ans - Or abilities
Seer_Sonoma - IGMs check every thing we do, and help us implement our ideas.
Seer_Catskills - Interest GMs oversee Seer and Elder activities
Seer_Sonoma - We are the Dreamers, they ground us in reality :)
Seer_LakeSuperior - That's a good way to put it.
Seer_Atlantic - We're the front men, they do the dirty work. :)
Ans - So they basically just moderate what you can and cannot do?
Seer_Catskills - They also make their own events, time permitting. Their abilities are greater than ours
Seer_Sonoma - More or less Ans -- they are our Dark Overlords
Ans - Well thank you, and good evening :)
Seer_Sonoma - And we love them for it
* Seer_Atlantic waves *
* Seer_Chesapeake laughs *
* Seer_LakeSuperior grins. *
Seer_Baja - Hello!
Seer_Catskills - Hello Arwyn :)
Arwyn_cats - Hail!
Arwyn_cats - Beyond the addition of shard specific fiction, do you folks create or oversee town invasions and massive monster spawns? If so, I'd like to see more of it.
Arwyn_cats - There ain't enough critters roamin them thar woods.
Seer_Baja - It's sort of a mixture to be honest.. A town invasion can be anything from a staged event in a seers plot, to a random attack generated to add some excitement by an IGM.
Arwyn_cats - hehe.. more of either.. turn the knob up to 11.
* Seer_Catskills chuckles *
* Seer_Baja Grins *
* Seer_LakeSuperior scribbles notes. *
Seer_Catskills - Aye aye!
Seer_Baja - Answer your question?
Seer_Sonoma - That's not always fair to the "less experienced" players though
* Seer_Atlantic turns the knob the wrong way by mistake and breaks it *
Arwyn_cats - Yep.
* Arwyn_cats bows out *
Seer_Sonoma - We have to maintain a balance that people who don't want to fight don't have to :)
Seer_Baja - Thanks
Lucas - oh.
Lucas - hi again
Seer_Catskills - 'lo
Seer_Atlantic - Hiya Lucas
Lucas - the acts of some people trying to get into the FoA quest last year..
Lucas - brought the issue, at least on Atlantic, on how much people can influence
Lucas - a set quest
Lucas - will you try to be more flexible about it in the future?
Lucas - I mean..we'll be able to bring a plot set by you on a total different path?
Seer_Atlantic - That's because Atlantic is cool.
* Seer_Atlantic grins *
* Rainman Lucas you mean to talk about regular players roleplaying along with a story, please come out and just SAY that :) *
Lucas - hehe
Rainman - oops
Seer_Sonoma - One of the keyest "invisible" problems from the player side is that you CAN NOT see the "path not travelled" -- a LOT of times (MOST TIMES) player actions DO influence events, but we don't hang out a sign.
Lucas - :P
Seer_Catskills - Wait your turn Rainman! :)
Seer_Atlantic - True. But it's sometimes the Seer's personality
Seer_Atlantic - I like to run events that are very open ended
Rainman - that was supposed to be a message... IRC brain fart, sorry
Seer_Atlantic - The players do in fact direct where my plots go, to a certain extent
* Seer_LakeSuperior nods to Sonoma. Indeed. On LS, one of the major running plots at the moment has really been influenced by the actions of the players. *
Seer_Sonoma - I change things ALLLLLLLL the time -- thrown out MANY great plots because the players wanted something else :(
Seer_Sonoma - or :) depending on you POV
Seer_Sonoma - heh
Seer_Chesapeake - To some extent it varies from plot to plot and seer to seer, but in general most seers like to try to keep the plot as flexible as possible for player input
Seer_LakeSuperior - Keeps all of us on our toes, seer and player alike.
Lucas - ok,got it..thanks for the answer :)
Seer_Atlantic - Thanks Lucas
* Seer_Catskills nods *
Seer_Atlantic - See ya on ATL
Seer_Catskills - Hello Nog
Seer_Chesapeake - Hi Nog
Nog - hi
Nog - i can ask now right?
Seer_Chesapeake - sure :)
Nog - well my question was: When do you decide to bless RP groups?
Seer_Chesapeake - I assume by that you mean to support them
Nog - I play in Cats and there are alot of good groups that i think would diserve a blessing or something but I always wonder on what do the Seer's base themselves
Seer_Atlantic - We prefer the term "sponsor". It's less religious than "bless" :)
Nog - yes, like getting special lockdowns and thingsl ike that
Seer_Catskills - This is fairly well covered in the Seer FAQ, available on Stratics ([- Free publicity),
Seer_Catskills - But Cats is a bit special because of it's large number of "RP" Groups
Seer_Chesapeake - Well in general we look for groups or places that are popular with a wide variety of players
Seer_Atlantic - Kazola also wrote a nice piece about it on her tavern's website
Seer_Chesapeake - Support is intended to enhance an already existing player venue or storyline
Nog - My group, Emerald Empire, was recently sponsored... but a few groups I would consider do diserve it and have been around a long time
Seer_Sonoma - Also, "sponsoring" is MUCH less of a big deal with the in-game tools players have....and you can do a LOT *without* any help from us
Nog - yes that is very true
Seer_Sonoma - On Sonoma, the Mage Tower did a BOSS quest, with zero seer aid
Seer_Sonoma - http://magist.dhs.org/magetower/encyc/bts/
* Seer_Sonoma plugs *
Nog - Sponsoring usually comes to places that are in towns?
Seer_Sonoma - No, to places that are open to ALL players
Seer_Catskills - We are working with quite a few players, and we're also doing our own little revamping of that issue (on Cats)
Seer_Chesapeake - Nog on most of the shards there are way more groups then we have a chance investigate.
* Nog nods *
Seer_Chesapeake - the increase in the number of seers should help us get to more places
Seer_Catskills - Aye definately
Nog - thank you all
* Nog waves *
Seer_Chesapeake - Thank you Nog
DarkBlade - Hi
DarkBlade - I'm a big fan of the programs headed by OSI
DarkBlade - and I was curious how one would get a quest started
DarkBlade - You were talking earlier about Player-run quests
Seer_Catskills - You mean, how to get help with a player-run quest?
DarkBlade - Well...yeah
DarkBlade - I guess
Seer_Atlantic - I actually worked in a player guild that ran player events.
Seer_Atlantic - The key was to design your events using what we as players had available
* DarkBlade feels his ears perk up *
Seer_Atlantic - It's not easy, but it's possible
DarkBlade - Yeah
* Seer_Sonoma points back up to that URL *
DarkBlade - Xander here has a guild who had a player run quest a while ago
DarkBlade - Which is one of the reasons I was interested
Seer_Atlantic - We had a good portion of Yew on Atlantic thinking our events were OSI's
DarkBlade - I didnt realize it could be done up till then
Seer_Atlantic - Eventually the publicity got us noticed, and that's how I became a Seer. :)
Seer_Sonoma - ANYthing can be done if you dream and beleive :)
DarkBlade - =)
Seer_Atlantic - Publicity and being creative within your boundaries are the keys
Seer_LakeSuperior - Right.
DarkBlade - Aye
DarkBlade - Well...Thank you
Seer_LakeSuperior - And there really is so much players can do with just a little imagination :) Good luck!
Seer_Atlantic - Anytime
DarkBlade - =)
Crysania - Hail
Seer_Atlantic - I could go on about that for a while.
Seer_Atlantic - Hi Crys
Crysania - It seems to me that few RPC's are ever 'evil'...What steps is the Seer program taking to correct this?
Seer_Catskills - This is a delicate situation, and there are no clear steps to 'fix' it
* Seer_Atlantic nods *
Seer_Sonoma - You're wrong on Sonoma, too :)
Seer_LakeSuperior - Evil's a frame of mind, not necessarily violent action, remember that.
Seer_Sonoma - yah for SURE -- MOST people mix it up
Seer_Catskills - The easiest scenario is to have evil as in manipulative (crime ring leaders, dark mages plotting the fall of Moonglow)..
Seer_Catskills - Violent characters are not very well received, event or not
Seer_LakeSuperior - (Or any other cities, not just Moonglow. :)
Seer_Catskills - Unless the players wins, but we don't always want that :-)
Seer_Atlantic - The largest problem with us playing evil characters is that players promptly turn around and complain that we're abusing our roles, killing with hacked stats, etc. Despite the fact that we try to give the players exactly what they want, an enemy.
Seer_Catskills - (Not right away I mean)
* Seer_Catskills nods to Atlantic *
Seer_Atlantic - So we have to be careful with the evil roles we play
Seer_LakeSuperior - Tough line to walk, indeed.
Crysania - Thank you
Seer_LakeSuperior - Thanks for the question. :)
Razillian - Good evening
* Seer_Chesapeake waves to Razillian *
Razillian - With all the changes that have gone on in the different programs
Razillian - Is it expected that the Seers will be receiving more flexible abilities
* Seer_Atlantic works out regularly *
Razillian - to allow Seers more control rather then going through the IGMs?
* Seer_Catskills flexes *
* Seer_LakeSuperior changes channel. Woops, wrong control. *
Seer_Sonoma - Obviously, we can't talk about the specifics of what we can do (we want to keep a sense of mystery for you), but I think it is safe to say good things are coming for all.
* Razillian smiles *
Razillian - Good enough answer.... One other question about the changing programs
Seer_Sonoma - fire.
* Seer_Atlantic puts down the SENSORED stamp *
* Fizzle corrects the stamp to say Censored *
Razillian - Any idea on when the Seer program will be openning up for apps?
* Razillian dodges the incoming Censored stamp *
Seer_Sonoma - Wish we had a firm date. Watch the skies!
Razillian - Thanks for your time
* Razillian smiles *
Seer_Sonoma - Thank YOU
Seer_Catskills - There is no time frame for that yet
Hythlodaeus - Hello
Seer_Atlantic - Hiya
Hythlodaeus - Can you give some examples of roles troubadours have played?
Hythlodaeus - On many of the quests I have been in, small parts were just filled with NPCs
Seer_Atlantic - Hrm, well Troubadours fill the numerous roles we sometimes need in our events
Seer_LakeSuperior - (And often)
Seer_Atlantic - Sometimes they play people, many times they fill the monster roles
Seer_Atlantic - The Soulslaves on Chesapeake recently are a good example
Seer_Catskills - We're trying to stop using NPCs and Oracles because frankly, they're boring
* Hythlodaeus nods *
Seer_Catskills - But their advantage is that they can be around 24/7
Hythlodaeus - Okay, one more...
Seer_Atlantic - IF we can only get the Troubadours to stay online around the clock, but they keep complaining about needing sleep
Hythlodaeus - Do you know how future Elders will be recruited?
Hythlodaeus - Will it be a separate app, or from the troubadours?
Hythlodaeus - Companions, maybe?
Seer_Catskills - Companions are with Support
Seer_Atlantic - From what I know, the app will give you the option to choose which of the three roles you want to fill: Seer, Elder, Troubadour
Hythlodaeus - I thought companions maybe since they also deal with newer players
Seer_Catskills - And then you will be put through "The Test"
Seer_Atlantic - No, they are separate from us
Hythlodaeus - Okay. Thank you.
Seer_LakeSuperior - Companions are part of the support program. :)
Seer_Chesapeake - Hyth, companions are not part of the interest volunteer group. Two seperate outfits
* Hythlodaeus nods *
Hythlodaeus - What is The Test?
Seer_Atlantic - Twas a joke. :)
Hythlodaeus - Ok. They're telling me to be quiet now :)
Seer_Catskills - Well, there *is* some training involved, it's not as bad as Lum puts it :P
Seer_Atlantic - heh
Alton - Thank you for attending tonight's UOCC. Remember, UOCC occurs every other Monday night at 7pm CST. The log of tonight's chat will be posted tomorrow on http://uo.stratics.com. Please feel free to join us here in #ultima-online at any time of the week for help in game, the latest UO news, or just to chat. Have a nice evening.
At this moment the chat was officially over. Even though the chat was extended for 20 minutes already, several Seers decided to stick around and chat a bit more with the people in the channel. What follows is a heavily edited report (for readability) of the next 40 minutes.
Grapefruit - I still have a question!!! :)
Seer_Atlantic - What's your question?
Seer_Sonoma - Fire, we're sitting here
Grapefruit - Hehe wow i got your attention :)
* Seer_LakeSuperior giggles *
Seer_Atlantic - Sure
* Seer_Catskills flees in a dark corner *
* Seer_Atlantic sits down *
Grapefruit - About the elder/troubador/Seer i thought the trouibador was like the baby seer waiting to become a full one?
Seer_Atlantic - heheh
Seer_Atlantic - No, we grow the Troubadours in a lab
* Krat_Nedaj thought so too. *
Grapefruit - hehe
* Seer_Catskills chuckles *
Kurdy - little cryovats?
Kurdy - :)
Seer_Atlantic - We do pull Seers from the Troubadour pool, but they have a definite purpose
Geryn - Troubs/Elders/Seers are pretty much three different things (yes, I do know, I'm Arch Elder Geryn of Chesapeake)
Seer_Catskills - Troubadours are an important element of the program
Seer_Sonoma - Troubs are NOT "lower" than seers
Grapefruit - Who would win in a fight? A seer or a troubador?
Fizzle - Troubies!
Seer_Sonoma - Sometimes troubs, Grape :)
Cuchulainn - What aspects of RP groups or Events Grabs your attention as opposed to the ones overlooked?
Seer_LakeSuperior - Cuch--- things that tend to incorporate things open to everyone tend to get our attention.
Seer_Atlantic - Aiglos?
Aiglos - Thankyou
Aiglos - recently, there has been no Activity on the Pac shard
Aiglos - From any Seers
Aiglos - I was wandering
Aiglos - If there is any intention
Aiglos - on getting some activity
Aiglos - Anytime soon
Aiglos - If a Seer program
Aiglos - Has been abandoned on Pac?
Seer_Atlantic - Aiglos, Yes
Aiglos - We have been abandoned?
Seer_Atlantic - Ah, no. It's not been abandoned. :)
Seer_Atlantic - You'll see increased activity on all shards, Aiglos
Aiglos - Not trying to be offensive
Aiglos - But that's what we've been told
Aiglos - For a few months now
Spacial - Aiglos is right, there has been total inactivity
Spacial - It has been left totally to the players
Seer_Atlantic - Most of the shards have seen a decrease in events over the summer while the program was being redesigned
Seer_Atlantic - It will pick up, Aiglos
Aiglos - Thankyou
Aleph - Hrm...my Seer Action Figure question was passed over!
Aleph - Many of us would like to have our very own Seer Action Figure, how do we go about getting one?
DarkBlade - oy veh
Seer_Catskills - Aleph :)
Quartz - I want my Seer Action figure too !
* Seer_LakeSuperior laughs. Ok, Aleph. Would you like fries with that? *
* Aleph laughs *
* Seer_Atlantic Atlantic Seer dolls are available on www.owo.com/seersforsale *
DarkBlade - oooh
DarkBlade - marketing ploys
* Spacial smiles *
DarkBlade - best of the bunch
DarkBlade - hehe
Aleph - oooh...Seer doll!
* Beans bids two bits on Seer_Atlantic dolls *
* Arsk has his own fully poseable Seer Narcissus doll! *
CeNedra - Aleph only if there are FEMALE Seer Action figures too
* Krat_Nedaj grins *
Seer_LakeSuperior - Wait a second. Seer doll? I feel my strings are being pulled here!
Aiglos - Oh
Aiglos - I do have another question
Aiglos - * wanders if you have the time*
* Seer_Atlantic isn't going anywhere *
Aiglos - How much power Does a seer
Aiglos - have
Aiglos - versus a IGM
Aiglos - I mean
Aiglos - What can you all do
Aiglos - And what can IGM's do
* Aiglos knows some, but not many of the powers *
Seer_Atlantic - We can't really go into details like that. IGMs have the same abilities support GMs do
Seer_Catskills - We're not going to discuss our powers, Aiglos
Aiglos - Hehe
Aiglos - How'd I know that answer was coming
Aiglos - Are Seers epmloyees of OSI?
DarkBlade - the seers are protective of their powers
Arsk - no
DarkBlade - they arent
* Aiglos has been curious about this whole thing forever *
Kurdy - no aig
Kurdy - they are volunteers
Seer_Atlantic - Aiglos, we're volunteers
Arsk - Volunteers :)
Seer_Atlantic - Like Counselors
Aiglos - Alright
Aiglos - That's all for me
Aiglos - I look foward to seeing more activity on Pac
Aiglos - Soon I hope
Aiglos - Thankyou Everyone!
* Seer_Atlantic waves to Aiglos *
Cuchulainn - how did you guys personally get approached about being a Seer? since apps werent up back then?
Seer_Sonoma - Cuch, by being an "active RPer" largely -- though not exclusively
Cuchulainn - What about those that run events, but do more managing than having their owns charaters involved per say? - to Seer Sonoma
Seer_Sonoma - Not sure I understand that Cuch.
CeNedra - Sonoma: he's saying he runs events .. he doesn't get involved in teh RP part
Seer_Sonoma - Ah, well, I think its safe to assume that Seers are pretty well versed in WHO is doing things.....
Seer_Sonoma - Rp or "events"
Cuchulainn - As in It takes a lot to run a Large player quest, much of it behind the scenes with ICQ and email, leaving less time for a event runner in game with their more well known chars
* Seer_Sonoma nods to Cuch *
Seer_Sonoma - But we see it
Cuchulainn - especailly when they are in game they play "NPC" roles
Seer_Sonoma - Again, Cuch, I *think* we see it
Cuchulainn - Cenedra, I do get invovled in the RP part I just try to separate my char from events I am storytelling
CeNedra - Cuch.. I didn't say you dind't..
Cuchulainn - just clarifying
CeNedra - I was explaining your point..:)
Cuchulainn - :)
Seer_Sonoma - If anything our soon to be increased staffing should REALLY help people get involved
Seer_Sonoma - That's the goal at least
Kurdy - are there any pages that actually list events BEFORE they happen? :)
Seer_Catskills - Kurdy, that would be impractical (34920439 people on one screen?)
Kurdy - why, your just supposed to show up, spur of the moment stuff?
Kurdy - cause I keep trying to get to events, and I hear about them after they happen :)
Kurdy - :)
Cartman_Euro - Is there any active seers on the Euro shards?
Seer_Atlantic - Cartman, yes
Seer_Catskills - There are Euro seers, Cartman
Arisilon_Euro - Are there going to be IGMs for the Euro shards?
Seer_Atlantic - We're not really informed about the European programs, Arisilon.
Arisilon_Euro - thankee, Atlantic
Hythlodaeus - What's the target as far as frequency of quests?
Seer_Atlantic - Hyth, more than now. :)
Seer_Catskills - Gordon "The Tyrant" said 1000 events /week..
T_Leaf - How many does that come out to per seer/elder/whatever?
Cuchulainn - try 24/7 quests
Cuchulainn - heh
Seer_Catskills - So that's the target, and we'll hope they increase resources until we get there :)
Kieron - T-leaf, that works out to be approx. 800 from the Elder program
Seer_Sonoma - I do an event nearly EVERY night
Seer_Sonoma - sometimes 2-3 a night
Seer_Atlantic - 750 Kieron. :)
Kurdy - sonoma, please tell me where?!
Seer_Sonoma - Kurdy, all over Sonoma -- check the player venues......
Seer_Sonoma - Ironwood, Avalon, YMCA, Dark Tower, Mage Tower, Caendryl, etc.
Kieron - Seer_Atl, 30 Elders per shard, 3 events per week, guessing about 10% cancellations. :)
Kieron - That's where I got my numbers from. :)
Seer_Atlantic - hehhe Kieron
Kurdy - does an event include a seer signing in? :)
Seer_Catskills - Signing in?
Seer_Atlantic - signing in?
Seer_Catskills - A lot of people asked why we don't advertise events..
Seer_Catskills - We tried in the past, broadcasting them even
T_Leaf - I saw an Advertised event on Sonoma once:
T_Leaf - 59 people came and lagged us to slag.
Seer_Catskills - It almost always led to the server overloading :)
Cuchulainn - An odd question, I know that it is not desired for someone to 'petetion' a seer for sponsorship and that it should be a reward more than a request, but what about more complicated situations
Seer_Atlantic - Cuch, complicated?
Cuchulainn - As in The thing that need to be seen cant cause people keep sailing off with it. (Public Tavrn boat)
Seer_Atlantic - Cuch, if your floating tavern gets lot of publicity and is open to the public, we'll learn of it
* Seer_LakeSuperior tugs the other seers. Hey guys... shouldn't we be out.. DOING STUFF since chat is over? ;) *
* Flame smiles at Seer_LakeSuperior *
Cartman_Euro - what is the seers role in promoting RPing to the new UO players?
Seer_Atlantic - That falls more into the role of the Elders, Cartman
Seer_Catskills - Cartman.. Elders will be dealing with new players more
Cartman_Euro - k thanks Green Robed Goblins :P
Seer_Atlantic - heh
Arsk - what will the Elder Seers look like?
Ans - brown robes
Darkwing - there are not elder seers
Arsk - brown....thats like companions
Arsk - brown and gold are similar
Seer_Atlantic - There are Elders and there are Seers. They have similar jobs, but one is not above the other
Kieron - Elders will be working with new players to middle level players. Holding events and teaching skill classes.
Cuchulainn - I would certainly hope so, but just to be sure, Seer play their Seer char on their own shard correct?
Seer_Catskills - You mean on our play shard, Cuch?
Cuchulainn - yes the place where you know the shard history and the RPers, etc already
Cuchulainn - :)
CeNedra - Not usually Cuch...
Seer_Catskills - Some do, some don't. There are guidelines to avoid favoritism..
Cuchulainn - That seems silly
Ans - I don't like them
Cuchulainn - One would think you be alot more effective ona shard you know well already
Seer_Catskills - It may, but at least we don't end up making the news on Lum's too often
Cuchulainn - I am not saying the guidelines are silly, just any requreiemtn to play on a diff shard is
Cthulhu - how many seers are currently on GL?
Seer_Catskills - We're increasing the number of seers on all shards
Arsk - there are only 4 Seers on Lake
* Seer_Atlantic feels the room getting quiet, and begins to pick up his things *
* CeNedra takes Seer_ Atlantics alcohol away *
* Kurdy steals Seer_Atlantic's things and runs *
* Patience_Euro reaches for her nail gun *
* Seer_Atlantic eyes Patience *
* Patience_Euro looks innocent *
* Seer_Atlantic glares at CeNedra *
* Arsk finds himself waering a Seer robe *
* CeNedra smiles sweetly *
CeNedra - It's for your own good dear
* Kurdy derobes Seer_Atlantic *
Aleph - Hrm...bad mojo to get in the way of a seer and their booze..
* Arsk parades around in his Seer robe *
Kurdy - Seer_Atlantic is running around in his undies
* Arsk 's robe disapears and he is left standing naked *
Cthulhu - what is a troubadour?
Isobel - A troubadour is sort of a bard
Kurdy - a ministrel
Ans - a bard?
Isobel - adventurer, minstrel
Kurdy - =D
Ans - I'd like to hear this one....
Ans - :)
* CeNedra wispers actor to Izzy *
Isobel - Would not call it actor.. it was much more than that..
Seer_Atlantic - In the generic sense, that what a troubadour is.
Cthulhu - what is a troubadour on UO? :)
Seer_Catskills - Troubadours are the cornerstones of Interest!
Isobel - the same thing, I suppose.
Ans - It's a person who plays the monsters and stuff
Kurdy - one of those idiots that runes around the bank hitting his snare drum
Seer_Atlantic - We've already gone over that in chat. :)
Kurdy - =)
Anerin - Troubadores are a GREAT asset.
Seer_Catskills - They are much more available to play in events, and some have their own special characters
* Kurdy unravels Seer_Atlantic's robe *
Kurdy - seer robes aren't "blessed", woohoo! :)
Seer_Atlantic - Blessed is such a bad term
Isobel - Indeed.
Isobel - More like cursed, in your case
Anerin - More like.. 'gimp'ed.
Cthulhu - well, you do refer to yourselves as in-game gods...so blessed isnt all that bad
Cuchulainn - how guys know approxamatly about how many seers total there are currently?
Seer_Atlantic - Not enough, Cuch
Cuchulainn - hehe
Ans - I think it's between 2 and 5 or 6 per shard... so multiply that up
Cthulhu - Is it true that GL has one seer currently?
Seer_Catskills - GL has more than one seer
Cuchulainn - How do you evalute people who are RPing or not RPing (if your stlaking them :] ) some people talk OOC to those that talk OOC to them and IC to those that talk IC to them
Seer_Atlantic - Cuch, if they are OOC, we don't look at them. :)
Seer_Catskills - Cuch, it's not all about being OOC or IC
Cuchulainn - so OOC people are overlooked?
Cuchulainn - explain more
Cuchulainn - you mean most people dont bother playing IC unless they see it
Cartman_Euro - will the seers become more noticealbe to the players in the future?
Seer_Atlantic - Cartman, often we're playing roles, we could be standing right next to you often
Seer_Atlantic - Most people don't bother unless they see a hued item in their face
Cartman_Euro - aye, yall sneaky devils :P
Seer_Atlantic - heh
Seer_Catskills - I've had pretty traumatic experiences of running around Britain trying to find questers, fully dressed in hued unique items
* Jynx_GL wishes seers would announce their quests more often so those who try to stay up on a plot line can actually participate *
Seer_Atlantic - Jynx, tis hard to justify annoucing a thief will be stealing an item in two days
Seer_Atlantic - :)
Taral - not too much rping that i see on atl.. except for what my guild does
Cuchulainn - Taral where do you go to look?
Taral - umm look for what?
Cuchulainn - RPers
Taral - ooh i go all over..
Seer_Atlantic - Taral, there are plenty of places
Taral - i go to that one tavern every now and then
Taral - forgot name
Taral - :)
Seer_Atlantic - Serpent's Cross, AMT, WYU, Rivendell
Taral - Hungry Halfling
Seer_Atlantic - Wandering Wisp is a new place
Seer_Atlantic - Eldanor
Taral - Never heard of it..
Cuchulainn - and a whole lot more you didnt mentionm
Taral - My guild has a town bigger than Rivendell
Seer_Catskills - haha
Seer_Atlantic - Wandering Wisp tavern is down by Leiah's Rune Library
Seer_Atlantic - what guild Taral?
Taral - Saints of the True Covenant
Taral - we got a billion little houses
Seer_Atlantic - Ah, STC.
Seer_Atlantic - I love Pegasus Bay
Taral - yeppers
Taral - hehe
Ans - and apparently got kicked himself
Taral - someone keeps placing an illegal house smack dab in the middle..
* Seer_Atlantic nods *
Taral - it gets rather annoying while we try to get it to decay...
Seer_Atlantic - I heard
Taral - you seen any of our Whitemyst or DLO storyline?
Cuchulainn - you need a rock of wisdom hehe
Seer_Atlantic - Only a little
Taral - We own like 3 guilds.. 1 is the evil rp guild that we fight..
Seer_Atlantic - I've been busy of late
Taral - Dark Lords of Orgaratho.. or something..
Seer_Atlantic - Yep.
Taral - its mighty fun
Jynx_GL - seer atl, not things like that... long term quests
Taral - yep
Cuchulainn - go Atlantic
Seer_Atlantic - Quick, Taral's STC
Taral - STC
Seer_Atlantic - Yew guild
Seer_Atlantic - :)
Taral - i've been around
Taral - yeppers :)
Jynx_GL - I would address a specific quest, but that would speak to much on
Seer_Atlantic - STC is one of my personal favorites
* Seer_Atlantic remembers the days of St. Max *
Taral - Atlantic: You heard of Iago?
Taral - Used to be a Plugger
Seer_Atlantic - How's Strider and Gaia?
Cuchulainn - Serpents Cross Tavern?
Seer_Atlantic - No, that's SCT, not STC. :)
Cuchulainn - if not spell out STC
Taral - Strider is good haven't met Gaia yet..
Seer_Atlantic - Saints of the True Covenant
Taral - I killed him in a tourny
Seer_Atlantic - Gaia may not be around anymore
Taral - i am so proud of myself :)
Cuchulainn - well how do you view that balance of OOC vs IC talk, does OOC alk turn Seers away? IC attracts them? do you look at the situation and what was trying to be communicated?
Seer_Atlantic - Well Cuch, since we're not allowed to be OOC, it's hard for us to carry on such a conversation
Cuchulainn - I know that about your part
Cthulhu - what is OOC for a robed seer?
Cuchulainn - I am talking about your viwing of 2 players talking
Cuchulainn - etc
Seer_Atlantic - We don't go OOC while ingame
Seer_Atlantic - two players can talk however they wish to, cuch
Cuchulainn - OOC for a robed seer does not exist. :) right?
Cuchulainn - Seer Atlantic did you get my shameless plug or did you know about it already?
Seer_Atlantic - Sorry, I had a lot of people querying me during the chat, I closed the windows as they came up
Cuchulainn - http://members.xoom.com/DynamicSaga
Seer_Atlantic - That's for your floating tavern?
Cuchulainn - Oh no
Cuchulainn - not at all
* Seer_Atlantic gets confused *
Cuchulainn - that for the quest stuff
Cuchulainn - player quests on Atlantic
Seer_Atlantic - Ah
Seer_Atlantic - If you do events, you should publicize
Seer_Atlantic - Bye all!!
