Jerrith - Greetings and thank you
for attending tonight's UOHoC.
Jerrith - Tonight's chat topic is
General Discussion and as such we will accept questions related to this
topic.
Jerrith - Glamdring will be our moderator
for this evening. In order to submit questions, please /msg or /query
Destiny, Jerrith, Rhys, or Zorn.
Jerrith changes topic to "UOHoC - Please /msg or /query Destiny, Jerrith,
Rhys, or Zorn."
Jerrith - Please /msg different question-takers
at different times, in order to balance the load, and speed this process
up. Do not msg anyone from Origin--these questions will be ignored.
Jerrith - Remember they may not have
the opportunity to answer all of your questions. In addition, some questions
may not be answered if they feel that it is not appropriate or that it
has been better answered through some other question.
Jerrith - In addition, please do not
submit any questions that have already been answered during past conferences.
Jerrith - We encourage you to read
the logs of the previous UOHoCs, which are available at http://uohoc.stratics.com
Jerrith - Thanks for coming, everyone.
We will now begin accepting questions.
Glamdring - *Chaos23* Can we please
have it so that Tailors and Bowcrafters can repair armors and bows?, it
is not fun loosing your great armor/bow in 1-2 adventures (as opposed
to metal weapons and armor that always can be repaired)
Sage - Alhough we would like to expand
the crafting skills, I don't see this for the immediate future. Right
now bows, arrows, and most tailor made items are fairly inexpensive to
reproduce.
Sage - Therefore, allowing them to
be repaired probably would not help the economy, though I can certainly
see how tailors and bowcrafters would like that ability. It is something
to keep an eye on.
Glamdring - *Naomi_Sunrider* Question
: What type of macroing is deemed legal within Ultima Online gameplay?
Calandryll - You can work skills with
a macro while you are attended (actually at the computer) and as long
as you dont use an unapproved 3rd party program
Glamdring - *Faldus* oops any chance
for Tinker style menu being applied to other skills?
Sage - The tinker menu has some things
that are really great, especially the Make Last Item feature. Updating
the menus is something we would like to get to, but I am not sure when
we will have time.
Zorn - *Twithead[Baja]* Me be beggar,
me be GM beggar. Be there any plans to make this skill more exciting other
then to get 10 gp (or less) each time. For example, begging to get food
or clothes if NPC has it or begging dem more intelligent monsters not
to kill poor Twit?
LadyMOI - A great question indeed...
LadyMOI - There be no plans at this
time to advance begging... ;) However, it is one of those skills that
could be used in interesting and exciting ways some day....
LadyMOI - However, balanced against
our highest priority items, begging isn't an area we have alloted development
time to.
Destiny - *Jeg* Is there any plans
to look at gold flow? Often times dev team members mention "economy"....but
its very hard to have a healthy economy when gold is so easy to obtain.
Personally I think gold flow needs to be reduced greatly in the near future
or the coin will be worthless...what do you think?
SageOSI - Absolutely. As we concentrate
our efforts on making UO more solid with each publish, the economy is
one of those things on which we have to concentrate. There are several
approaches to handling a inflated gold flux, such as gold sinks and the
like
SageOSI - We will probably attack
the issue from different angles, and I encourage players to give us feedback
on what they would like to see.
Glamdring - *Web_Question* Does OSI
plan to increase the skill cap? We all know, that many new skills, some
of them linked (like magery~wrestling) have been introduced but the skill
cap stays the same.
Calandryll - Not at this time, no.
Part of the reason for the skill cap is it creates diversity in the types
of characters people play
Calandryll - increasing that cap would
allow people to simply every GM skill they need, rather than chosing between
skills to design a specific type of character
Glamdring - *C_Echodude_Catskills*
is there any idea if and when you might implement the vetren rewards program?
and if so is there going to be rewards every year?
LadyMOI - The exact scheduling of
when the program will go live is not known at this time...
LadyMOI - But, I can tell you that
the initial code backend is in development right now...
LadyMOI - It will not come in before
housing...
LadyMOI - But whether it will hit
just before, just after, or with Factions I can't know right now.
LadyMOI - I should have a better defined
schedule for this shortly.
LadyMOI - As for the second part of
the question... will there be rewards every year?
LadyMOI - That is the plan, and the
next set of rewards is currently being discussed....
LadyMOI - Rewarding the veteran players
is critical, and we don't want it to be a cheesy reward. A lot of thought
is going into what the rewards should be. :)
Glamdring - *Gunther_of_EO* We need
an alliance system for guild stones, the new restrictions on rezing and
healing when your in a warring guild are killing us. A toggle on the guildstones
to switch between old style (Pre UOR) war rules and new style would be
great!
SageOSI - Yes. We are going to be
looking at Alliances as a solution. However, they are not scheduled to
go in any time soon, but I agree we need to reward teamwork and we will
be looking at this. This is definitely on "the radar".
Glamdring - *Nari* Are there any plans
to fix Veterinary skill like you fixed Healing? I currently have a tamer
who has been stuck at 67.7 since two days after the skills patch. Now
with the advent of trammel I can't heal/cure recently released animals
as it's considered a beneficial act. The anti macro code prevents me from
gaining off of healing my own pets. Please address this issue.
SageOSI - The best answer for this
is that all skill gains will be monitored closely. As we see weaknesses,
we will be addressing them. Thank you for the heads up.
Glamdring - *Web_Question* The issue
of nightmare spawn blocking is the cause of much argument anddivision
within the taming community. Are there any plans to address thisproblem?
SageOSI - Spawn blocking is a very
difficult issue.
SageOSI - We don't want to have nightmares
running around all over the place, nor do we want people to be able to
prevent others from obtaining their goals.
SageOSI - We have looked at this issue
several times, but we are not satisfied with any of the proposals. Once
we have a satisfactory solution to the issue, we will be correcting this.
Glamdring - *Naomi_Sunrider* Question
: Why are seer run quests only on Felucca? When will Trammel quests be
started?
Calandryll - Actually, we started
running quests in Trammel last week. :)
Glamdring - *Eddie* How about this
"Can you please increase wood spawns to match ore spawns + resmelting?
As of now it takes more time to get wood than the same amount of ore,
not even taking in account resmelting.
SageOSI - There are far more trees
in the world than mountain ranges. So no one tree is going to have as
much wood as an ore vein has ore.
Glamdring - *Ibn_Shaun* The ability
to choose which professional title to display is currently the most popular
idea on the Stratics Ideas Hall of Fame. It has also been requested several
times through this forum and on the development boards. Assuming the solution
is straightforward, can we expect to see this in the near future?
SageOSI - Right now we are focusing
our efforts on stability, housing and factions. I think when the player
base feels these areas have been addressed, we can look at some other
things like this. I think you should be able to chose your title, but
maybe it shouldn't be a button push. All in all, though, I absolutely
agree with the proposal.
Glamdring - *Adol* Are there any plans
for leather of different colors to be available? I have seen a system
that allows for skins of different color to be taken from different animals.
Any plans?
SageOSI - No.
SageOSI - Seriously, right now this
is not on our radar. Introducing colored items is trickier than it sounds,
and I think I would like for new items to have more meaning.
Glamdring - *Web_Question* What ever
happened to name change deeds?
LadyMOI - The fate of name change
deeds is still on the table.
LadyMOI - Right now, there is not
a hard and fast determination if we will go there or not.
LadyMOI - As you can imagine, the
use of a name change deed could have serious implications for accountability
within the game system.
LadyMOI - So we must give this a lot
of thought. As we know more, we'll post it to the site. :)
Glamdring - *Naomi_Sunrider* Question
: What are OSI's views on emulation software such as FUSE, UOX, Sphere,
and the like? And are voluteered staff allowed to use them?
LadyMOI - Emulation software, the
use and creation of it, is against our Terms of Service. We do not condone
it in any way, shape, or form. Period.
Glamdring - *Eddie* Nightmare spawn
follow up, can't you just remove tamed animals from being checked in the
spawn system?
SageOSI - No. That would lead to an
overcrowding issue of the animals which are removed from the spawner.
Glamdring - *Khalil_Rashad* Many times,
players such as myself would really like to know more about what is being
developed, thought of, almost done, etc. For example, name change deeds,
necromancy, factions, etc. Will we see more communication with the customers
in the future?
LadyMOI - We are strongly committed
to communicating as much and as often as possible with customers.
LadyMOI - The dev cycle section of
the site was designed with that in mind.
LadyMOI - We've upgraded it a bit
recently to make it easier to read.
LadyMOI - There's been a slight lull
as to what we're up to as of late, due to the changing of the guards....
LadyMOI - However, you should expect
to see the level of communication increase in the near future.
SageOSI - Before we leave tonight,
I again want to thank all of the UO volunteers for all their help. Y'all
rock, seriously.
Glamdring does a little woo
Glamdring - I would like to thank
everyone for coming tonight
Glamdring - I would also like to thank
Sage, Melantus, Calandryll and last but not least...Lady Moi
Glamdring - and Hanse =)
Glamdring - Please join #ultima-online
