UO Stratics - Hunter's Guide - Bake Kitsune
The Bake Kitsune

General Information
The Bake Kitsune is a strange creature that mostly resembles a fox, but with the small difference that it has no less than three tails. Unlike a normal fox, the Bake Kitsune has the ability to cast a great number of spells, some of them quite damaging.

In addition to the spellcasting abilities the Bake Kitsune also has the ability to go into a rage, that will allow it to inflict a small amount of damage over time to its enemy.

As a tactic to fool its prey to let it get close, the Bake Kitsune will often use its magic abilities to take the shape of a human.

Although the Bake Kitsune is a quite aggressive and fierce creature it is actually possible for a skilled animal tamer to tame it.

So Darn Cute

The Bake Kitsune is so darn cute but they hit hard and fast, great to use to kill Vorpal Bunnys and tag team one bake with a nightmare and you are set to kill quickly.

Easy tame

Summon a earth elemental, tell it to kill the bake, invis yourself, tell earth ele to stay/stop, bandage/greater heal earth ele while taming bake. Ive done this 3 times now in 10 mins, very easy.

Good pet

I have two of these bonded that I use to hunt with. I started out training them on Elders but they starting destroying them so I trained them up a little on Sphynx then decided to try training one at a time on Mares. Well I ran into a paragon Mare while training one of them and collecting hides for my tailor and with enough healing my Bake took out the paragon mare. When it fights regular mares it doesnt even need to be healed. When fully trained it will be much stronger than a mare or any other two slotted pet IMO.

Xena,
Catskills

I used two kitsunes and managed to do the gauntlet (minus the DF) with them. I had a full arty mage outfit on with 100 vet. I was suprized, but I love these little guys.

Stealth Taming is SWEET

These are really easy tames. I use my stealth tamer to stalk them silently loring them to find one that I'd like to have. To tame I just kept invising myself until i got it, no attacking needed. :P

Easy... Soooo Easy

I have a tamer with 110 Taming, I tame these almost every time with no problems. I hit them down to about 50 health with EV's, then I tame. Simple.

I have a Necromancer who can summon familiar dark wolf! Simple to tame with that template, very simple.

Incognito?

I was walking around and there was an human NPC with a gray name. His profile said he was a llama herder. He attacked me and turned into a Kitsune. I had no idea what happened.

Try blade spirits. They worked for me. Long as you have 70+ magery to pull off the cast most of the time, the Kitsune gets slowed down and blows its mana dispelling. Just make sure not to accidentally kill it. Go on a normal horse, so you can summon 2 bladespirits, and let them tear into the fox a while. Dispel them if the kitsune doesnt, and tame. Slowed down, it isnt as scary, but it WILL occasionally teleport. Infuriating tame, but worth it!

Easy way to tame

found a really easy way to tame. A friend of mine and myself went and I would peace them while he ran around dodging spells. once peaced pretty easy to tame. Then on the the next one. Got 2 tamed in about 5 min.

Just to kind of sum up what everyone saying, these guys suck to kill but taming can have it's pros and cons. I tamed one last night, and the little pain wasn't really that bad. When polymorphed, they hit hard but dont do magic so they are fairly easy to tame. Although, be aware that they do polymorph, because while I was taming I ran away to heal and cam back to rebecca's name where the bake had been. At that i was baffled, but when rebecca started to attack me I knew it must be the bake. So i started to tame it, and got it pretty fast. Although, I noticed that they don't leave that form for a while, so i log off and log back on to get it back in the shape of the bake kitsune.

A great pet to have fighting with you. I would recommend it to anyone who has to tame and then kill. (A.K.A. the Jhelom bull pen)

Easy taming...

Go tame about 5 gamans and make them all attack one single bake kitsune then when they are all dead start taming. Should have lost all its mana and just chase a little bit but should have to spells left. Gaman=Meat shield.

A pain to tame but great pets

I finally found the perfect way for am elder+ mage tamer. One EV can kill it, so that didn't work. All it really takes is para+corp por over and over. I can usually get three off before he either comes within melee range or pulls off a combo that makes me need to run. When it's nearly dead just para, mana drain, and spam taming macro. If they get some mana back they have a bad habit of teleporting on top of you and hitting you, thus the 'animal is too angry to continue taming' message. This can make you a pain, but the para and e-bolt and mana drain thing eventually works.
