UO Stratics - Hunter's Guide - Crystal Elemental
The Crystal Elemental

General Information
Crystal Elementals are strange creatures made entirely of the strange crystals that can be found all over Malas.
Their crystalline bodies offer them very good protection from both physical and magical damage and even makes them completely immune to poison.
The sharp edges of the crystals will make wounds, caused by the elemental, bleed profusely for a little while and make healing very difficult.

This is a perfect thing to kill to get that Lady or Lord. I am a mage and they do not prove to be hard for me!

moderate for mage

Hello,i am lars von slash.
Mage with 60.5 skill.I summoned a total of 4 blade spirits and with a few spells i kicked its butt.
Wasn't too bad, just stay your distance and nuke it to death while pet whacks it.

new players beware

These Guys Are Weak For Experienced Players But Can Kill New Players Easy. All New Players BEWARE Of The Crystal Elemental.

Easy picking for an archer
Submitted by Anonymous on March 8th 2007.
Easy work for my 85% archer. With my elemental slayer bow, I try hit it with paralyze on the first shot, and two or three follow up shots will take it down within about 20 seconds. Loot and cash isn't too bad.

Don't let it get close though, because they bite hard.

Easy with Competent Mage

One Energy Vortex takes these down - period. You can even kill multiple crystal elementals at once by luring them together and dropping a couple EVs in one spot. Loot isn't bad for the work...nearly 500 gold +other loot and gems.

Easy!!!

With a paladin with taskmaster + a samurai with an Zyronic claw (ellie slayer, Mana leech 50) these guys go dowm easy. since it is not harmed by poison taskmaster does nothing so the pally distracts it while samurai kills and they have around 450 gp plus gems!!!

Nice cash cow for GM warrior
Submitted by Anonymous on December 3rd 2005.
I just took out 32 crystal elementals in an hour to see just how much money I could make. I have a GM warrior (GM swords, GM anat, GM tactics, nearly GM heal) with ~100 str and an elemental slayer axe. They can be kinda mean and healing quickly is a must.

Gold - 13539 gp

Gems (16 diamond, 8 amber, 8 amethyst, 24 citrine, 16 star sapphire, 12 ruby, 8 sapphire, 12 tourmaline, 12 emerald) - 10280 gp

32 crystal elementals in 60 minutes gave me 23819 gp.

Easier for a Warrior than a Mage

Funny as it sounds, I've had an easier time taking these out with my swordsman/palidin than with my mage/bard. Just get close with a quick weapon and whack away, heal at the first sign of damage.
Usually go down in about 20-40 seconds, rather than the couple of minutes it takes my mage.

My first encounter with the creature was spawned of reading this, as I was in Malas.

His ranged attacks did not do too much, 9 damage, but when I did get in close it struck me with poison and profuse bleeding. Normally I don't run unless there are multiples, but the bleeding and poison along with his hits (around 15 damage) created an unsound scenario.

(Mind the fact I have a combinded Physical resist is 78% with all items.)

Not too bad

coming from a gm warrior, i'd say that these monsters aren't incredibly difficult, but i've also gm'ed healing. hehe...

Difficult for pure warrior
Submitted by Bangui on June 17th 2005.
These creatures are tough for a pure warrior. Expect a fight to last a while. They can be worn down and killed without using magic. You will need to survive their initial magical barrage before you can close in for close combat.

Winged Mercury

Definitely not something a younger player would want to encounter first day out. While they move slow, I still rely on speedy runs around an obtacle (or building) to provide me with protection as I heal the wounds. Very good gains from this beast as well (warrior here).

Too Easy.

I go out and summon up two earth eles and go whacking the crap out of these things. I've easily made over 100k in under 2 hours killing these things. They also don't like EVs that much either. For a GM mage, these things are a cake walk, but for someone less talented in magic, they can difficult.

Crystal elementals are mid-level magic casters. They cast mana vampire and ebolts regularly. They are good for spell resist gains up to around 90.
