UO Stratics - Hunter's Guide - Fire Steed
The Fire Steed

General Information

These fiery steeds are a bit weaker than a nightmare, and have no magic skills. They can be tamed and used as mounts, but only by those tamers who have been fortunate enough to get their hands on a taming power scroll.

The steed can have over 100 in some of it's skills, which might mean that it can become more powerful than the nightmare. It also has daemon and equine pack instincts, that will make it do more damage if it is in the company of another creature with the same instincts.

Like the nightmare, the fire steed also has a fire breath attack that will do about 20 points of damage.

Gorgeous. I'm just in love with them, hah. I'm training mine up (almost full stats) even though people don't want them and say they're worthless.

If you have good physical and fire reists and have 120 taming and lore, it CAN be easy. Just need to watch for surroundings and where you go.

Fire steeds are nice against creatures that have lack of fire resist and they do better in packs cause they have pack instinc deamon and equine. Anyone par one with a unicorn?

Good looking, but tempramental

Those who don't use 3D really miss out on this one. This is one of the few good things about the 3D client. Too bad they don't use the same skin for both clients.

But man, they are temperamental. That 106 taming makes you feel like you've stepped back to when you had 95 taming and somehow managed to tame a dragon on the first try. Then you went to take it out and start training it and it would balk at you every 3rd command. I don't plan to fight with mine, but I want to train him up so he can if he needs to. I only have 110/100 skill at the moment... can't wait to get lore to 110. LOL

Seems Pretty Good...

Two fire steeds doing 120 damage each is better than a hiryu from what i can gather

Now tamed creatures have the ability to gain back to what they were tamed at. Firesteed tamed at 106 resist dies 5 times, it can gain back to 106.

Not so useless

Even though on thier own they are useless, get 2 and they will do about 120 dmg each

You can Also Find Fire Steeds In Deciet level one, they have to be summoned from the Brazier, Though There are many creatures that can spwan, from Mongbats to Earth Eles and right to dragons, If you keep trying you will get a fire steed.

Fire Steeds...

I find these beasts beautiful. I believe they're mainly for 'bank sitting' and for show :P They aren't very strong and I do not take mine out for battles even though it is a GM.
They're easy to to tame once you have the skill =)

Sadly, pretty useless

On the plus side, I'm seeing these guys a lot more often in the easy areas of the first level of fire dungeon, before the lich room. Unfortunately, none of the last five or so I've tamed recently had magic resist above 100... Even so, this is only one skill, and it presumably drops every time you die, so eventually, even if your steed started with nice magic resist, it'll be GM by the time it's fighting skills are GM too. For the skill it takes to tame and control... these guys are sadly pathetic. I DO keep a pair in the stables, but only because they are a symbol of the skill that I have worked so hard to build.
