I still train horses up and give them to newbs - a trained horse is quite useful to a new character.

I think bonded horses should alert you to stealthers *your horse shuffles nervously* that is inline with horse role play and make them useful again. I love horses

the horse. the common.

What can I say? The horse is the most common mount in UO. It is also very devoted and easy to find. If you buy one from a stablemaster you need absolutely no taming skill. That is probably why it IS so common. My personal favorite colors are any color except the spotted one.Anyway, if you are a Newbie or just dont have enough taming, this is the Ideal mount for you.

The Horse

Would you rather have a cold beetle by your side? Or maybe a scaley dragon? There is no animal as comforting as a good horse. Besides, if you get killed, your horse just cant live without you. Thats devotion!

Horses are still around

I think the Horse is still the most commonly used steed in UO it is good for newbies because it gives them a partner to fight with when fighting skeletons and stuff in the graveyard

I feel that as mounts go the Horse is the best. But with the introduction of the new classes Paladins and Samurai all players should have access to War Horses

Horse still lives on

Through there many other mounts out there now. But a horse is easy to get only 602 gold or min amount of taming. and if a horse is fully trained it can last against orcs and ratmans

Horse a throw away ride?
Submitted by Anonymous on December 9th 2004.
Pah! The horse is still at the heart of UO! It is still one of the greatest things throughout the lands! Yes there may be unicorns and beetles and war horses, but to be honest, I don't want to have to pay 40,000 gold for a new one again when I get killed. For that, the horse shall live on. Yes, as a throw away steed, but at least it gets to run free through the lands...

A Ride From The Past
Submitted by Edward The Less on November 7th 2004.
Ahhh the Horse. Once when the game was new this was the standard ride but now years later it's left out in the cold unable to compete with the new rides like Beetles, Nightmares, Unicorns, War Horses, and Swamp Dragons. At best the horse is a throw away ride.

Soundbites are available when you see this icon in a creature's description. All sounds are stored as MP3 files. In most cases simply clicking the icon will play the sound. If that does not happen for you, then you need to upgrade your Windows Media Player, or install an MP3 player such as WinAmp. Both MP3 players are free of charge.
