The Dire Wolf is an evil creature which is not to be underestimated. It is VERY aggressive, often moving to attack a person before the victim can see it. Though it can only take the same amount of damage as a Timber Wolf (not much), it hits harder and much more often than it's cousin. Be careful--newbies should be very wary around these animals. A few unlucky hits, and you could be lunch.

Not around since day one Submitted by Anonymous on August 8th 2006. I know its hardly important, but they werent an around when the game went live. I remember when they were introduced because they were killing people right and left since no one knew what they were and assumed they were just wolves. Musta been like 6-10 months or more after release.
E-bolts Submitted by Anonymous on October 23rd 2005. When you use e-bolts on dire wolfs you REALLY feel better!

Ettieno Submitted by Anonymous on April 12th 2005. Watch out for these guys if you come across one that spawns as a Paragon in Ilshenar. It's bite will drain you quick and you CANNOT OUTRUN the paragon, even unlagged and on horseback.
Necro-fun Submitted by Anonymous on February 2nd 2005. I use these on my necromancer, tame 4 of em (using dark wolf, which makes their taming requirement ZERO!) and man the pack instincts are great for anything that doesnt hit too hard!
